Both versions had their own pros and cons, but overall, Capcom did a great work with the graphics of the American version, while the UK version seems more complete if we compare with the Arcade version, although the graphics are very bad and the gameplay was lost. Well, stick to both versions, as together they ressembles the Arcade version. Remember that the Arcade version were made into a 16-bit CPU, and that Commodore 64 just has 8-bits. Now, enjoy reading! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 2 - Differences between both versions =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= + American Version (developed by Pacific Dataworks International) - Very good graphics - Not as great as the Arcade, but much better than the UK version... - Intact moves - Hadouken, Shouryuken and Tatsumakisenpuukiaku. They are all here! - Sagat is NOT in the game - You just play through 7 stages, instead of 8 as in the UK version. - No Bonus game - What a @#$! - No background scroll :( + European (UK) Version (developed by Tiertex) - What crappy graphics - Even Atari 2600 should do better :( - Special moves lost - No Hadouken, Shouryuken or Tatsumakisenpuukiaku :( - Sagat IS in the game - Play through 8 stages, as in the Arcade! - Bonus stage IS present - Yay! - Background scroll, as seen in the Arcade version. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 3 - Story and Characters =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ryu and Ken finished their training with their great master Sheng Long (by the way, isn't this guy Gen?). Now they joined in a tournament, and have to travel around the world looking for the best Street Fighters, to finally defeat Sagat (in the UK version; The last boss of the American version is Adon). Will Ryu be the best Street Fighter ever? You are the only one to decide... Playable Characters =================== Ken Masters ----------- American fighter that just mastered the Karate Shotokan in the non-lethal method, as well as his partner, Ryu. Ken does NOT have blond hair in any of the versions, and his Karate gi is NOT Orange/Red, as well. In fact, this is funny :) Ryu --- Japanese fighter that just mastered the Karate Shotokan in the non-lethal method. Ken is his best friend and eternal partner. Ryu wears a white Karate gi and has black hair. Unplayable Characters ===================== Adon ---- Adon is a red-haired kickboxer that only became famous in Street Fighter Zero/Alpha series. His stage is Thailand. Birdie ------ Brutal and strong character, but not as radical as his Street Fighter Zero/Alpha version. His stage is one street scene, in England. Eagle ----- Eagle fights with Tonfas, but he is not as dangerous as it seems. Eagle's latest appearance was in Capcom vs. SNK 2, for Dreamcast and Playstation2. His stage is the same as Birdie's stage. Geki ---- Geki is a typical japanese ninja which throws shurikens. He is one of the hardest opponents. His stage is in front of a Japanese shrine. Gen --- He is an old man, with white hair and white beard, and... wait! Isn't he Sheng Long? Well, in fact the look is the same. His stage is on top of the Geat Wall of China. Joe --- Joe is a shirtless kickboxer wearing red pants. His stage is one train yard, with a night view of the city in the background. Lee --- Lee is a typical Chinese fighter. His stage is the same as Gen's stage. Mike ---- Mike is Balrog (the boxer of Street Fighter 2), indeed. His name in Japanese is M.Bison, or Mike Bison. If Mike Tyson decided to sue Capcom it would not be good for the sales, so Capcom of USA just renamed him to Balrog, although in the American version of Street Fighter 1, his name is still Mike. His stage is the same as Joe's stage. Retsu ----- Retsu is a bald man who also wears a Kimono gi. His stage is the same as Geki's stage. Sagat ----- Sagat is only present in the UK version of Street Fighter. He is the final boss, so he is the most powerful character in the game. His stage is the same as Adon's stage. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 4 - Special Moves =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= USA Version =========== Ryu --- To play as Ryu, you have to be the Player 1 (PLYR1) Hadouken............... Down, DownForward, Forward + FIRE Tatsumakisenpuukiaku... Down, DownBack, Back + FIRE Shouryuken............. Forward, Down, DownForward + FIRE Ken --- To play as Ken, you have to be the Player 2 (PLYR2) Hadouken............... Down, DownForward, Forward + FIRE Tatsumakisenpuukiaku... Down, DownBack, Back + FIRE Shouryuken............. Forward, Down, DownForward + FIRE UK Version ========== Ryu and Ken ----------- None. I tried hard to find the moves, but as it seems, they are gone. You'll have to beat your opponents only with simple punches and kicks. Quite disappointing... :( =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 5 - The Bonus Stage (UK Version only) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= In the Bonus Stage you have to break a pile of tiles. The easiest way to get it is pressing FIRE button when the metter reach the exact middle of the Min...Max bar. Timing is VERY important so keep training. You will get to the Bonus stage everytime you finish a country. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 5 - Copyright, Thanks and End Notes =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= This FAQ is a Copyright of Simon (Thiago Simões), and you are NOT allowed to translate, post it at your site or any other place without my consent, as well as rewrite this FAQ and/or sell this to ANYBODY.
