SEGA GT 2002 Prize Car Guide XBOX v1.0b final? - Last updated: November 16, 2002 Written by: Ayanami (ayanamifaqs@amimizuno.ath.cx) ====== Preface ====== To ensure proper spacing and formatting, please display with a monospace font like Courier. Make sure the three lines below line up perfectly. 123456789 ......... abcdefghi Please note at this stage, I am guessing at when I won some of the earlier cars in the official races, please let me know if I have recalled the wrong race. I have denoted the non-100% sure cars with a star, however by process of elimination, I am reasonably confident that they are good estimates. Also note Stage 4 through 6 of Season 2, it looks pretty suspicious that there is nothing to be won there. I've tried the "special prize trick" on a few of them with no luck, even the coveted and rather difficult "6th to 1st" on final lap. If any of you have discovered something for these that I have not covered, please let me know. Likewise for the Season 2 event races, I can't seem to discover any "secret" parts other than the Stage 3 Turbine. *NEW* It appears that the reason why some people have been having trouble with unlocking some of the hidden parts (stage 3 turbine, stage 3 NA tune) may have been discovered. Look in the FAQ section for details! Also take note of the races that I recommend *NOT* to complete during the first season! ====== History ====== v1.0b - Added Super Racing Muffler. Added FAQ answers regarding "missing" parts!! v1.0a - Forgot to update details of Stage 3 NA Tune. v1.0 - Final version? The ending of the game seems to be mysteriously dry... Considering starting a strategy guide or a straight FAQ. v0.9f - Finished Season 2 sections. v0.9e - Cleaned up format, added more entries. v0.9d - Added more prizes, Season 2 sections, corrected GT90 mistake race 4-3. v0.9c - Added FAQ answers, more cars, more info (maker, special qualifications). v0.9b - Added car stats, more cars, started recording unlocked as well beginning Stage 4. v0.9a - Added more cars, some corrections done. v0.9 - First version ever released, I decided to start this guide since there are no FAQs for Sega GT 2002 on Gamefaqs.com (sadly I could probably have used one, would have made life alot easier). Someone's got to be the first, I suppose. ====== Official Races - First Season ====== (stage - race #) (power/torque/drive) 1-1 Speed Ring 2002 (nothing)* 1-2 Tide Street Battle COSMO SPORT (126/96.1/FR) Mazda 1-3 Rampart Cup (nothing)* 2-1 Spirit Hawk Cup 1000TCR BERLINA CORSA (79/65.0/RR) Fiat 2-2 Imperial Garden 2002 (nothing) 2-3 Desert Heat Cup Abarth 131 Rally (138/130.1/FR) Fiat/70's Stage 2 Completion [Unlock Nissan Z432R] 3-1 The Emerald Challenge SKYLINE GT-R RACING (177/134.4/FR) Nissan/70's 3-2 Windmill Cup 300SL (236/202.4/FR) Mercedes-Benz 3-3 Burning Wheel Cup zero (143/151.8/MR) DOHMU/70's/Supercar 3-4 Summer Solstice Cup SAVANNA RX-3 RACING (147/112.7/FR) Mazda/70's 4-1 Dancing Horizon Cup Tipo33/2 (226/151.8/MR) Stradale/Supercar 4-2 Eagle Flight MUSTANG GT390 (324/289.2/FR) Ford 4-3 Ironside International [Unlock Racing Tires] Stage 4 Completion [Unlock Ford GT Concept] 5-1 Rolling Flame Cup [Unlock Racing Intercooler] 5-2 Autumn King Battle 240Z RACING (295/274.7/FR) Nissan/70's 5-3 Raging Typhoon Impreza 22B STi Ver (276/267.5/4WD) Subaru/90's 5-4 Ardent World Cup SUPER SEVEN R500R (226/154.7/FR) Caterham 5-5 The Huntsmen International FORD GT (379/329.7/MR) Ford/Supercar 6-1 World Tournament Dodge Viper GTS/R (500/499.6/MR) Dodge/Supercar ====== Official Races - Second Season ====== 1-1 Windmill Cup (nothing) 1-2 Autumn King Battle [Unlock Super Racing Tires] 1-3 Tide Street Battle (nothing) 2-1 Eagle Flight [Unlock Stage 4 Weight Reduction] 2-2 Dancing Horizon Cup (nothing) 2-3 Ironside International [Unlock Super Racing Intercooler] 2-4 Ironside International (nothing) 3-1 Raging Typhoon [Unlock Original Tuned Suspension] 3-2 Summer Solstice Cup (nothing) 3-3 Rampart Cup [Unlock Super Racing Brakes] 4-1 Spirit Hawk Cup (nothing) 4-2 Burning Wheel Cup (nothing) 4-3 Ardent Wind Cup (nothing) 4-4 Imperial Garden 2002 (nothing) 5-1 Rolling Flame Cup (nothing) 5-2 Speed Ring 2002 (nothing) 5-3 Desert Heat Cup (nothing) 5-4 The Emerald Challenge (nothing) 6-1 World Tournament (nothing) ====== Event Races - First Season ====== (1st = 1st place prize, Spc = Special Prize) (power/torque/drive) Drag Race: 1st: Charger (424/477.2/FR) Dodge Spc: Chevelle (449/498.9/FR) Chevy/70's 90's Battle: Spc: RX-7 Type RZ (IV) (261/216.9/FR) Mazda/90's 80's Battle: 1st: MID 4 (226/206.0/4WD) Nissan/80's Spc: Supra 2800GT (167/89.6/FR) Toyota/80's 70's Battle: 1st: JAGUAR mk2 (216/115.6/FR) Jaguar Spc: CELICA RACING (172/119.3/FR) Toyota/70's Hot Hatch: 1st: Clio Sport V6 24V (226/216.9/MR) Renault/Hatch Spc: 205 T16 (197/187.9/4WD) Peugeot/80's/GroupB Super Car Battle: 1st: TOYOTA 2000GT (147/130.1/FR) Toyota/Supercar Spc: ESPRIT (1977) (159/129.4/MR) Lotus/70's/Supercar ** Note: I recommend not completing the Group B Monsters and Touring Car races because hidden prizes may be lost in the second season if they are completed. ====== Event Races - Second Season ====== Super Car Battle: 1st: CASPITA (449/267.5/MR) Jiotto/80's/Supercar 90's Battle: 1st: FORD GT90 (719/659.4/MR) Ford/90's/Supercar Hot Hatch: Spc: [Unlock Super Racing Muffler]** Group B Monsters: 1st: [Unlock Turbine Stage 3]** Spc: MR2 Group S (493/216.9/4WD) Toyota/80's Touring Car: Spc: [Unlock NA Tune Stage 3]** Winding Road Race: 1st: STARION 4WD RALLY (345/253.0/4WD) Mitsubishi/80's/GroupB ** Appears that in order to unlock these parts, you must not complete the prize condition for the event in season one! ====== FAQ's ====== Q: What the heck do you mean by Special Prizes and how to I get them? A: The special prizes are seen in the box next to the 1st place prize during the event race selection. It is not enough just to pummel the competition in a race to get the special prizes, they are reserved for the "comeback victories". Simply put, you just start the last lap of the race in 4th place or lower and you need to climb three places before the end of the race. (i.e. if you are 4th place with 1 lap to go, you need to win the race, if you are 5th place with 1 lap to go, you need to finish at least 2nd). Q: What about the drag and circuit races? How am I supposed to do a "comeback"? A: For those races, you cannot do the "comeback" as you only have 1 chance/lap. So in order for you to get the special prize, you simply have to win the event three times in a row. I don't believe that you have to do them consecutively, just win when you compete in that event. Q: *NEW* I can't seem to unlock some of the best parts in second season, how can I get them? A: I have many reports of people not being able to unlock either the Stage 3 Turbine or Stage 3 NA Tuneup. Thanks to firefox, it appears we may have found a possible answer, and it seems to be in line with my experiences as well. It appears that if you win the prize in an event race during season one, you MAY not be able to get the "secret" prize that is in season two. I believe this happened to me for the Super Racing Muffler and the Hot Hatch Event. However, this may not be the final word, I am not 100% sure yet. It appears that the "secret" is to not get or even try to get the prize in first season in order to gain some of the hidden parts in season two even races. As firefox pointed out, there may be a trade off between getting prize cars and hidden parts, if you want all the parts, you might not get all the cars. *IMPORTANT* In light of this, I would advise against completing the Group B Monsters and Touring Car races during Season 1, as there aren't any prize cars to be won in those races anyway. However, the Hot Hatch event is not such an easy decision, if you do it in Season 1, you will get one of the best Group B Monsters Car other than the one you win in Season 2 Winding Road race, but if you do it in Season 2, you will unlock the Super Racing Muffler part! Q: Are you an expert at SEGA GT 2002? Do you work for SEGA? Can I ask you anything about the game and expect an answer? A: No, I am not an expert and I don't work for SEGA either. Because of this, I'd rather get e-mails regarding mistakes, corrections and/or submissions to my FAQ. I just bought this game recently and have been playing it like the rest of the general public. Q: Then why are you writing this FAQ? A: Because no one else wrote it and I figured it was about time Gamefaqs.com had a SEGA GT 2002 FAQ. Q: How come you don't list all the race event qualifications beside each car? A: The first 5 events are open to all cars, so it would be redundant and a waste of space to mention those beside each car. As for the winding road rally race, most cars (probably around 80%) qualify for this race, so I felt it was not necessary to mention this one either for the same reason. Q: Wait, you said I could get xxx car on the yyy official race, but I got it after the zzz official race! A: As I mentioned, I am just doing this FAQ by memory, I was not 100% sure when I got some of the cars, I'm just trying to remember best I can. Thank you for correcting me, please send me your confirmations/corrections for the starred (*) cars. Q: Hey, I got xxx car in the yyy race and you don't have it in your list. A: Thanks for your submission, I really appreciate it. :) Q: Hey, where are all the other cars and races? A: It takes time and effort to do these things, cut me some slack, I'm working on it, I'll get there eventually. Q: Can I distribute your FAQ? A: I'd rather that you didn't. It is better if everyone got this FAQ off Gamefaqs.com as there will be regular changes and corrections to this FAQ until its finished form. Q: Can I copy and use parts of your FAQ elsewhere without your permission? A: Please at least ask me and give me some credit, I'd probably have no problems with it anyway. Just drop me a line to tell me that you are gonna do something with it. ====== Credits & Submissions ====== Me (ayanamifaqs@amimizuno.ath.cx) - for getting off my lazy butt.
