THE HOBBIT – LEVELS 1-11 Walkthrough for Playstation 2 Written By ALISON D =============================================================== Copyright 2004 - Alison D, All Rights Reserved. =============================================================== I have explained how to complete all QUESTS & where the location of all CHESTS are (except 1, I could not find). I have not pin pointed all gems, potions & coins as they are scattered liberally along your path & you should find them easily. Those that are hidden I have explained. So take the time to explore each area thoroughly for items. I have also indicated all SAVE POINTS In most levels there are containers to smash & find treasure, (crates, jars, strange square shaped rocks etc), I have indicated this at the start of each level so just smash away throughout the level at anything that may contain items The trail of purple gems indicates the trail to follow to complete most QUESTs throughout the game Fighting – I found the most effective way of fighting is to go berserk! Just keep pressing the X & buttons simultaneously whilst moving around to keep Bilbo jumping, hitting & dodging Vendor – at the end of each level you can buy items. Priority is to increase your stone bag size & then your medical bag size. After that top your items up as you like. The Waters of Vigour are always handy to have but are expensive. You should not need more than 1 in the lower levels & 2 after that per level DREAM WORLD This is a pre-level for practise. You cannot die or get injured. You simply need to kill a few Goblins to enable a ladder to drop to escape LEVEL 1 – UNEXPECTED PARTY Cut scene in Bag End to explain the story Collect the walking stick in the CHEST in the living room & exit Bag End. As you explore Hobbiton search all flowerbeds, behind trees, shrubs & on rooftops to find treasure. Head down the path as you exit Bag End towards the village. Speak to the woman Gammer QUEST – Find Gammer’s quilting needle Speak to Hanna, the next woman QUEST – move her butter churn to her porch. Enter the shed next to the house to find the churn pick it up & put it down on her porch. Then speak to her Carry on down the path until you find a group of children. Speak to them (Notice the man standing by some hay bales & a high ledge on the way) QUEST – Find the 4 children Go speak to the man by the bales then pick up the moveable bale & put it next to the high ledge. Climb up. Pick up rocks & practise throwing them at the 3 apples in the tree (R1). Collect the apples. Behind the orchard you can walk down to a small jetty & find one of the children. The wishing well by the orchard has a man standing by it. Later when he is not there you can operate the handle to retrieve items Jump back down the high ledge & carry on towards the river. Speak to the man by the river, Sandy Man QUEST – retrieve his hammer & nails so he can repair the bridge Enter the mill (SAVE POINT) In side the door to the right, climb up to the platforms & jump to the ledge in front of the rope. Jump to the rope & over to the ledge to the pots & smash them for the nails Swing back over to the platform & jump over to the exit you can see to your right Go down to the waters edge & jump across the lily pads (you can wade through the water here but its good practise for later). Jump up the raised “islands” to reach the far side of the pond. (Lots of gems on various ledges here). Work your way up to the top of the cliff & into the next area. Another pond. You will need to jump around the “islands” getting higher (the longer distances will need a pole vault) When you reach the tree you find Sandy Man’s son with the hammer. (Pole vault to the final ledge for gems) Work your way back down until you reach the water mill again. Jump onto the water wheel & ride up to a round window. Jump in to find the next child (gems & coins can be found on the roof out side of the far window) Return to Sandy Man & give him the hammer & nails. He repairs the bridge Cross the bridge & talk to Bombur QUEST - find supplies Talk to Lorella on the food stand. She talks about unlocking chests. When you find a chest operate it & press X each time green shows on any of the moving lock components. 2 CHESTS can be found behind the stall Go along the path behind Bombur Talk to Holbert by his wheat field QUEST – scare away the crows. Simply hit all the crows with your staff until they fly away & talk to Holbert again Beyond the wheat field is a haystack & behind that is the quilting needle The garden next to Holbert is Hobart’s berry patch & a SAVE POINT You need to creep around his berry patch without Hobart seeing you. Simply view the garden from above & run Bilbo long the paths keeping a safe distance from Hobart & making sure you are not in his direct line of sight. Collect all the berries en route. Behind the berry patch is a hen barn & a SAVE POINT You need to tiptoe (L1) through the barn avoiding the creaking floorboards (the light coloured ones). Retrieve the eggs & leave the barn the same way Find the 3rd child behind the hay bales plus lots of treasure Return the needle to Gammer (back over the river) Opposite Hanna’s house is a gate that is now open enter to find the last child If you did not operate the wishing well earlier pop up to the orchard & do it here Take the supplies to Bombur & save the game outside the Green Dragon Check your inventory. If you are missing any coins or gems go on a hunt for them before you leave this level. (Search well, it is good practise for later, remember to search behind trees & on roofs) Enter the Green Dragon Cut scene – the journey begins LEVEL 2 - ROAST MUTTON After the cut scene go & talk to Kili sitting on the log, he has a cold QUEST – find a burberry plant Talk to Thorin QUEST – investigate the firelight Save the game at the SAVE POINT before leaving In this level beware the Hobbit-eating plants. Where you are able to, stand back & throw rocks at the base of their stems Follow the path down the side of the valley. At the bottom 3 wolves will attack you. Best tactic is to lure them out & run back up to the step you jumped down from. From here you can throw rocks Carry on through & find Balin. Talk to him for information The Burberry leaves are on the ledge behind Balin. Collect them. You can jump down from the ledge here to give the leaves to Kili From Balin’s ledge pole vault across the gorge, beware the plants. SAVE POINT is on the other side Cut scene showing the floodgate QUEST – Pull the lever on the floodgate Go up the steps behind the SAVE POINT & walk along the top of the floodgate to the lever (coins are on islands behind you). Pull the lever. Return to the SAVE POINT. Look over into the area to the left below where you see strange jumping creatures (we will call them Froggies). They are fairly easy to lure towards you then you can jump up to safety & stone them CHEST over the other side of the water. Make your way around the edge of the water upwards until you reach a rope – this is a death slide to the other side. Jump onto it & off the other side promptly before it swings back again SAVE POINT Head for the next lake area QUEST – raise the water level Climb down the rope (Froggies below) CHEST in this area Climb the next rope & head for the dam to pull the lever there. Climb up the ladder next to it & down the second ladder (plant here) Jump across the floating boards & head through to the next SAVE POINT You will see a whirlpool with planks floating around it. You have to jump from board to board as they come close enough until you reach the middle & can jump to the rope hanging at the centre. (Hint - ride a full circle on each plank to pick up gems) Climb up the rope You come up in the middle of a bridge full of holes. (Left you can pick up gems, right is the way forward). Carefully pole vault across the holes to the other side of the bridge. Carry on to next area Cut scene – a rock fall traps you in the valley with the trolls TROLL CAMP QUEST – retrieve the pocket book DO NOT tread on the leaves & do not get seen by the trolls SAVE POINT Head right (as you look at the rockfall) for some gems then to the left & follow the purple gem trail. At the end of the path you see a troll ahead. Watch his movement & time your run to the other side & jump up the steps. Follow the path & you see a chest as you approach it a cut scene shows the next troll coming to scratch his back on a rock. Again watch his movements to time yours Open the CHEST Time your run when the troll walks away to hide behind his scratching post. When he walks away again run around to the right without over taking him to the next rocks where the purple gem trail leads & hide here. Again wait until he walks away from you & run to the next rock following the gem trail. Hide here. The walking troll is now patrolling the campsite Behind you is a pathway leading behind a sitting troll. Time your careful walk along this pathway when the moving troll is walking away from you. Once you get part way down this path he will no longer be able to see you. Tiptoe behind the sitting troll & do not tread off the pathway. At the end you can jump safely up to the raised rock in front of you. Jump over the rest of the rocks (Pole vault needed on to the 3rd, 6th & 9th rock). You will find a CHEST on one of the rocks There is a SAVE POINT at the end of these jumps Cut scene – one troll has decided to block your way Walk up to the rock just before the troll. When he starts his yawn tiptoe past him heading for the taller of the 2 rocks ahead. Hide here. The yawning troll cannot see you now Watch the walking troll. As he walks away time your run to the rocks that run alongside him. Make your way forward by a process of timed runs to each rock until you get to the pouch. Tiptoe to the pocket book & pick it up Cut scene – Bilbo is caught & the trolls are turned to stone LEVEL 3 -TROLL HOLE Cut scene - Gandalf talking QUEST – Find the troll hole SAVE POINT & new skills scroll in this area Proceed through the valley. You will be attacked by wolves just as the valley narrows. Best tactic run & jump to the ledge ahead & stone them from safety. Jump back down to find the CHEST hidden in a side recess Back up the ledge & along to talk to Gloin QUEST – find the troll key Pole vault across to the ledge opposite Gloin & to the one opposite for CHEST & gems. Drop down & make your way back to Gloin. Climb up the ledge behind Gloin & jump over the next ledges to the end, turn around & climb up to the next ledge carry on to the cave entrance Spike traps – just inside the caves spikes will shoot out of the wall. Walk close to the right wall until past the first spikes then over to the left wall to get past the second spikes. Follow the passage to a pool of water. 2 Froggies here to kill. Smash the cube shaped/turquoise rocks in this level for treasure. Climb the rope just inside the entrance which will collapse if you take too long to jump to get gems. Climb the rope over the other side of the cave, jump to the next rope then jump to the ledges to enter the next cave 4 Froggies to kill. Approach & lure them away one at a time to kill them. Find the CHEST at the end of this cave. Search for treasure Climb & jump up the steplike rocks to the large rock at the entrance to the next cave. Climb down for treasure then back up to this rock again. You will see 2 rows of spike traps ahead. Pole vault to the middle of these. Then go to the left wall keeping as tight to the walk as possible & you can sneak past the trap (even though it does not look like you can) BEAST CAVE Carry on up the passage where you find a female elf called Lianna who is hurt QUEST – find Lianna’s health potion In the next cave is a large beast roaming around & a SAVE POINT to the right, which you can reach safely When you approach the beast he will have smaller minions that appear. To kill the beast you need to kill a minion then the beast will expose its belly. Run over & hit it when this happens. Repeat this – it takes about 3-4 hits to kill him Jump up the “mushroom” rocks (pole vault to the 2 after the real mushroom) & work your way up to the top ledge where you will find Lianna’s health potion. Take it back to her & she will give you the witchking crystal At the other end of the cave are dragon worms that pop out of their holes. The best tactic is to throw rocks at the base of their necks to kill them if you are close enough a triangle appears above their heads to show their life & this gives forewarning of which hole the worm will pop out of. Be warned it is not just one worm per hole; they use each other’s holes too Search this cave for treasure. Notice a cave with a potion in it partway up the wall at the back of the cave. Jump up to it & you will also find a CHEST guarded by a minion. I suggest you save the game back at the SAVE POINT before continuing Behind the area of dragon worm holes is a ravine & next to it is a post. Insert the witchking crystal here & a moving platform sets off over the ravine When it returns jump on it. Don’t jump off the other side straight away. Turn around & you will see a cave below with a CHEST & a minion. Jump off here to explore this cave then return to the moving platform & jump off at the other side of the ravine A minion waits over here for you Just to the left is a passage way with a spike trap across the entrance to a cave. Minions will hurl themselves forward & be impaled on the spikes. (It saves you having to fight them!) Pole vault from the rock on the right wall over the spike trap. ON the way out stay close to the wall on that same side & you can get past the trap. Find a CHEST & treasure in here then exit Carry on up the passage to another spike trap. Again minions will throw themselves at the trap. From the yellow mushroom pole vault over the trap. There are 3 more minions along this passage. When you get to the fork go right for treasure hidden behind rocks. You will be at the top of the slimy green slope you may have noticed in the Beast cave. Jump to the ropes to climb down to a CHEST Note- the shorter rope collapses after a few seconds so don’t dawdle. If you fall you will slide all the way down the green slime Climb the ropes to get back up to the top again. Back to the fork & take the other path PLATFORM JUMPING CAVE You are back outside again. Turn left & climb up the roots to the next ledge. Back into another cave. More spike traps again zig zag between them from wall to wall & follow the passage. A cut scene will show the troll key. 3 minions attack Follow the path to the SAVE POINT Jump to the rope. You will need to jump from rope to platform to get to the other side but it is worth exploring all the platforms & ropes for gems. Also head towards the waterfall. From the rope in from of it leap to a cave behind the waterfall. Follow the passage You will be attacked by a large spider. There is a CHEST to collect Return to the water area & jump from rope to platform to reach the other side of the river. There is a SAVE POINT here & a CHEST Carry on up the path & take the right hand fork to find a CHEST & another witchking crystal Back to the main path & continue. 2 minions attack. Jump up the rocks to get up the slimy green slope. You see a tribe of small gopher type creatures. Kill them & collect the CHEST & treasure SAVE POINT Next to the SAVE POINT is a post to insert the witchking crystal; this will set some floating platforms in motion Jump to the rope & the static platform. From here to the first moving platform when it gets close enough. From the second moving platform you can jump to a rope to the right to collect some large gems Carry on around the moving platforms (the 4th & 5th are pole vaults). The troll key is on a static platform to the right. Collect the key (there are gems to the platform to the right & you will need to pole vault) Back to the moving platform then to the rope & jump into the passageway. (This rope extends downwards – it is not collapsing! - so that later if you make an error & fall you can get back up to this point more quickly). Carry on down the path avoiding the spike traps as before. There is a CHEST tucked behind some rocks along here Jump to the rope & climb up it a bit to get the height to jump the ravine. You find will end up outside again. Pole vault to the ledge opposite & jump up to the cave. 2 wolves will attack. You can jump up to some rocks to the right to stone them Collect the treasure & CHEST. Use the troll key at the door & you will receive Sting LEVEL 4 - OVER HILL & UNDER HILL Cut scene – Gandalf QUEST – Talk to Bofur Find Bofur & talk to him QUEST – Find firewood Follow the path down the side of the mountain. You find a new skill scroll. Save the game at the SAVE POINT here then pick up the firewood. As you do this Bilbo falls down the mountainside In this area you have a SAVE POINT. To the left is a clearing with gems in. Beware it is also full of wolves To get across the river will take a series of jumps across the pedestal rocks & ropes. As you look over the river take note of the CHEST partway down the waterfall. (You will collect this later) Pole vault to the first rock with a gem on it & to the second Jump up to the 3rd (you can climb up the rope to the ledge for the large gem over to the left) From the 4th pedestal and then to a rope you can get to a ledge behind the waterfall. Follow the passage where you will find 4 dragon worms & 2 CHESTS Back to the pedestals. From the 6th pedestal jump to the CHEST on the left. Continue over the pedestals to the SAVE POINT at the other side of the river Remember the chest down the waterfall. Turn back & you see a pink gem above the chest. Jump & climb to the rocks & ropes to retrieve the chest Back to the SAVE POINT. Follow the path. Tip - look over the edge of the cliff for ledges with gems on. (Yes, you can pole vault over to get the large white gem) To the left of the path is a ramp. Push the moveable block to climb up to the ledge above. Jump up to the CHEST then jump to ropes & ledges to reach a second CHEST Back down again & go to the end of the path to climb ropes, jump ledges & shimmy around the edge of the mountain to a SAVE POINT STONE GIANTS A cut scene will show the stone giants throwing boulders. This next bit is really tricky & frustrating. As you move through the next few areas stone giants will be attacking you with large rocks. My tip is keep moving; they find it harder to hit a moving target. You cannot stop them or kill them. Watching for the shadows of descending rocks will give you a little advanced warning As you go around the next corner pick up the fire rocks. Don’t panic too much about picking treasure up, as it is really not worth it for the amount of times you will get hit. Pick up what is easy to get as you run around Carry on & 2 wolves will attack you. Don’t fight them out in the open run to the left towards a little tunnel, you are safe from boulders in here & can finish off the wolves when they follow you Out of the cave & to the left. Climb up the rocks & follow a ledge around (no boulders here). Jump across 3 ropes (the 1st two are collapsing ropes so be quick). Jump to the ledge. Around the corner is a SAVE POINT You see a tall pillar of stone next to a pink gem. This is weak. You need to get a stone giant to throw a boulder at it to make it fall down & create a bridge. Stand for a few seconds in front of it. Wait to see the shadow then run back If this went well with little damage then it’s worth saving again Across the bridge, more wolves & boulders. Do not go into the cave at the back without taking a Waters of Vigour potion, as it is full of wolves. (Tip - Waters of Vigour potion – best to wait until your life is low then take one to get the maximum value out of your life & potions) Outside again there is a rope up to a ledge with a CHEST. You can either get to the ledge that is in front of the next passage from here or if the stone giants have knocked down a large rock acting as a ramp you can use that instead Go down the passage. The stone bridge ahead will collapse in the middle. If you did not kill the wolves earlier you can stone them from here. Pole vault over the weak part of the bridge Onto the next cave to a SAVE POINT In a cave below you are a tribe of gophers. You can stone them from around the edge of this cave but I would suggest that you go to the entrance of the cave first & stone the 2 wolves outside. (Beware as sometimes if you are standing to close to the outside lightning strikes you.) Outside boulders are being thrown by the Stone Giants Run around the large rock to your right. There is a weak are of ground behind it & you need to get a boulder to land on it & smash through. Jump down the hole & straight to the ground before any more boulders land on top of you. 2 Gophers wait at the bottom Move off down the passage to the cave where you saw the Gophers earlier Move the block to the ledge below the coins & jump up the rope to get them At the back of the cave is another rope. Climb up & jump to the ledge then pole vault to the ledge to collect the CHEST Back to the cave & exit to the outside again. Jump down to the lower ground ahead where 2 wolves attack Run around to the left & the pathway down the mountain will be struck by lightning & collapse. Run in to the passageway next to it COLLECTING THE GOLD COMPONENTS You find yourself in a room with 2 CHESTS & a SAVE POINT. There is a device here missing pieces QUEST – find the pieces of the device Head out through the passage next to the SAVE POINT & the door closes behind you You are in a cave with a tribe of gophers to kill & 2 CHESTS around the cave Collect the Gold Shank, which is on a small ledge Jump up to the rope & climb up. Jump to the gem to the left. Pole vault & jump to the ledges to the left to collect the Gold Shank Arm Jump & pole vault back to reach the central rock with a SAVE POINT on it Opposite the SAVE POINT jump to the ropes (the 3rd rope collapses) to reach a CHEST (you jump up some ledges to the right for gems then return to the chest). Jump to the next rope & the ledges around the edge of the cave & pole vault into the passage where you see the trail of gems. You will find a Gold Gear at the end of the passage Pole vault to all the platforms until you reach the top ledge to find a CHEST & SAVE POINT. Collect the Large Gold Gear. Exit down the passageway back to the room with the device. Put the components in the device & operate it & the doorway next to you opens DWARF MINE STRONGHOLD- COLLECTING THE COPPER COMPONENTS Proceed down the passage. You find a SAVE POINT at the end Follow the path around the edge of the water. Jump to the islands to reach the spiral staircase. This is a dead end so follow the trail of purple gems up the side of the staircase, jumping shimmying & climbing. (Don’t try for the gems at the very top yet). Head over the wooden bridge, jumping the gaps. Go down the steps & follow the path. Follow the gems across the floating boards & rocks over to the steps & a SAVE POINT (Here is where you can go left & do a few tricky jumps to reach the gems you saw from the top of the spiral staircase) From the SAVE POINT go up the steps & collect the Copper Shank Arm. (Around to the left & down some steps are some gems you can get to by jumping to the raft) To the right of the Shank Arm is a lever on a pillar. Pull this. Jump up the block that has moved out of the wall to a CHEST & the Medium Copper Gear Go down the steps that were to the right of the lever. Pole vault to the rock in the water & climb up to the CHEST & Copper Shank Head Jump back to land & carry on around the path. Pick up the Small Copper Gear en route. Up the steps to the right to collect the Small Copper Gear & a CHEST Cut scene – showing you the device Put the copper components into the device & the drawbridge will lower Throw a rock at the square stone above the device for secret door to open where you have just come from. Pole Vault over the other side of the drawbridge COLLECTING THE METALLIC COMPONENTS Go right to the SAVE POINT Carry on around this path to pick up the Metallic Shank Arm & down the steps to a CHEST Back to the SAVE POINT & head right Straight on & down the steps to collect the Medium Metallic Gear Back up the steps to the moveable block. Push this to the pillar with the CHEST on top & climb up to it. Climb back down. You see a large flat area across a small stretch of water opposite this pillar. Pole vault over to it. Look at the wall to you left & you will see a stone in the wall that looks out of place. Throw a rock at it. This will open a secret doorway back round by the save point where you picked up the Metallic Shank Arm. You can go back now to collect the CHEST inside then return to this point Jump over the rocks & up to what looks like a solid stone bridge to reach the Small Metallic Gear & a CHEST. Turn around & jump to the ledge with the pink gem. Pull the lever on the wall to the right & a secret room opens above you. Open the CHEST inside, collect the Metallic Shank Head & pull the lever there, which will raise a block further on Out of the secret room & head left where you see the purple gem trail ahead. Jump over the gap & head right. Move the block that you find next to the wall to climb up to the roof. Pole vault over to the CHEST (From here you can jump & pole vault to collect the large white gem. On the way back jump down to the ledge that runs around the edge of the building to collect more gems. This will bring you back around to the secret room. Go back to the moveable block) Collect the Large Metallic Gear near the moveable block. Jump across the gap to follow the purple gem trail. Go right then drop down left for a CHEST Back up again & follow the path to the final device. Insert all the components & lower the drawbridge Across the drawbridge & down the passage you find a SAVE POINT Drop down to an area with a tribe of Gophers. You have found the Troll Key; use it in the keyhole next to the door Go through the door & down the passage collecting treasure & a CHEST as you go Climb down a rope to reach a SAVE POINT Carry on & you find yourself outside again. Follow the path to the ropes. Climb down to a CHEST then up on to the ledge above & you are back with the dwarves Walk around the path to a cave & you will engage in a fight with Gandalf against some Goblins. Exit the cave & give the damn firewood to Bofur Head down the passageway next to Gandalf LEVEL 5 - RIDDLES IN THE DARK RESCUE BALFUR Use Sting as a torch to light the way. Follow the path & kill the bats by stoning them. Jump across the gorge. You find 4 Dragon Worms here At the end of the passage is a SAVE POINT Jump to the rope (collapsing) & to the other side to collect treasure Back to the gorge & jump your way down to the bottom. As you climb down the rope 3 spiders will attack. In this level smash egg cases for treasure Cut through webs to make your way around the cave. You will discover a locked door & some treasure. At each web cut you will be attacked by spiders. Watch out for the green ones they are poisonous Climb the rope that you find up to the ledge & cut the web. A tarantula will attack Climb up to the ledge with the purple gem trail. Jump the ropes to the other side of the cave. Cut through the web & go down the passage. (You are now the other side of the locked door. Climb down the rope & follow the passage to a SAVE POINT Cut Scene – Balfor Quest – Free Balfor Smash crates for treasure. To the right of Balfor’s cage jump down the wooden ledges, & climb down the ladders. You see Goblin bombers (who will thrown explosives at you when you are close enough) & Dragon Worms below. You can stone the Goblins or jump down & fight them (they don’t take much beating) At the end of the passage way a cut scene shows you the route to take through the Dwarf Mines On this ledge you have a SAVE POINT FIND UGSLAP (Note - ride around Ferris wheels before jumping off as you may pick up gems) Jump onto the Ferris-Wheel-style contraption & ride around Then jump from the Ferris wheel to the wooden platform below the train track. (or you can pole vault from the ledge over to the platform).You can stone the Goblins below from here (You can jump to another wooden platform behind you then to another Ferris wheel & platform for treasure then back again) Drop down to ground level. Over the edge near the Ferris wheel is a ledge with a CHEST. Down the ladder is a Goblin, treasure, SAVE POINT & another CHEST Back up & past the Ferris wheel & around towards the water wheel. Follow the gem trail (watch out for the Goblin across the way bombing you) QUEST – extend the bridge To the left jump down the wooden platforms & ladder to pull the switch. The bridge extends & Goblin guard & Goblin bomber rush over. Back up the ledge to kill them Head over the bridge. Pick up the CHEST & treasure on the scaffolding (Sometimes piles of rocks & specialised rocks will regenerate & you can keep going back to them to top up) Pick up regenerating freezing rocks Kill the Goblins around the corner & open the CHEST SAVE POINT Jump to the Ferris wheel then jump to the one to the left. At the top is a wooden platform to the right. Jump & climb to platforms to reach gems & a CHEST Back onto to the Ferris wheel & jump off to the beam in front of it with the green gem. Turn left & jump to the wooden platforms to collect a CHEST. On the way back don’t jump to the beam jump to the platform next to it with a green gem on. Jump to the next platform around to the left. This has a collapsing centre section so run & jump over it. Down to the next platform to collect a CHEST. Return to the Ferris wheel Time your jump to the higher Ferris wheel. From this one stone the Goblins at the top ledge. Jump off & follow the path round QUEST – lower the bridge Over the opposite side of the ravine is a Goblin with a red barrel next to him. Throw a stone at the barrel & it will explode lowering one half of the bridge. Further around the path is a barrel, lift it off of its slab & place it on the ground. This will lower the other half of the bridge Before crossing the bridge carry on around the path to some Dragon Worms Kill them & climb up the ledges behind for treasure a regenerating rock supply & a CHEST Head back & over the bridge. Follow the path to the right to a SAVE POINT & more Dragon Worms Jump to the Ferris wheel & on to the next Jump down below the Ferris wheel & pick up the exploding rocks. Kill the Goblins & the Dragon Worms. Around the corner behind the Ferris wheel is another path with Dragon Worms. Take them out & follow the path to some scaffolding. Climb this for a CHEST Back round to the Ferris wheel. Along the passage ahead you can see Goblins. Use the regenerating exploding rocks to have fun taking them out from a distance. Enter this area & take out the Goblin bombers on the platforms & ledges. Clear this area & the next of any Goblins Open the CHEST In the next area is a SAVE POINT & the Wart Lift, which is broken Climb down the ladder over the edge of the cliff Go over & talk to Ugslap the Goblin Quest – activate the Wart Lift & bring Ugslap the Wart Stone ACTIVATE WART LIFT Climb back up the ladder & you notice that a ladder has slipped down off a platform & you can now climb it Climb up & jump over the platforms & onto the Ferris wheel. Down to the bottom. Jump off & climb down the scaffolding. Look at the lever panel Quest – Find the Lever Over the edge of the cliff next to the scaffolding is a ledge with a CHEST Back up the Ferris wheel. A chain has now appeared at the top; jump to the chains & over to the ledge. You are back at the bridge that you lowered. A passage has opened up to your left. Down here you find the Mugg Key. There will also be a Goblin & Dragon Worm to kill. A CHEST is tucked around the corner Use the Mugg Key to activate the Mugg lift in this area Jump onto the lift & jump off the other end. Go left & jump over the platforms. Jump up to the top of the wall & stone the Goblin inside with rocks. Smash the vases in here. Pick up the key & save at the SAVE POINT Go back along the platforms to the Grit Lift & use the key to activate it Ride the lift (you can jump off part way but it is only to collect 1 gem) (At the end go right over platforms for large gem) To the left go across the platforms & climb the ladder. In the cave at the top are 2 Goblins to kill. Pick up the Dim Lift Key Go back down the ladder & jump to the rocky ledges where you see the gems. (The track is safe to walk on) Jump over to the area with 3 Goblins & 2 worms Open CHEST Down the ladder to the Dim Lift & a SAVE POINT Activate the lift & ride it. Jump off at the end to the left, across the ledges to a SAVE POINT. Jump to the wooden platform to find the lever for the Wart Lift Jump on the chain & death slide across the gorge. Jump off the other end Jump to the Ferris wheel & all the way down to the Wart Lift lever panel Activate Wart Lift FINDING THE WART STONE Back up the Ferris wheel & back around the platforms towards the Wart Lift. “ Goblins are in this area. While you are here you may want to pop back to get some exploding rocks/top up your supply & re-save your game. Take out the Goblin over the other side of the Wart Lift with rocks Ride the Wart Lift. Jump off at the end. To the right of the stone “bridge” is an area with some tricky jumps & 2 CHESTS. Once you have got the chests I would suggest you go save the game again as you do not want to have to do that again! Over the stone bridge & down the ladder to collect Gems on platforms down here Jump to the Ferris Wheel then a tricky jump to the second (aren’t you glad you went back & saved your game); another jump to the 3rd Ferris wheel & off at the top to reach a SAVE POINT Climb the ladder & jump the platforms to reach the cave. Goblins will fire at you so kill them quickly. Get the Wart Stone from the CHEST. Then back down to the SAVE POINT Across the broken bridge jumping the gaps. Look over the side & you see 3 platforms. Drop down to the empty one & jump around the others to a CHEST. Drop down to the SAVE POINT Climb down the ladder to Ugslap Give him the Wart Stone. He will open the gate & attack you. (He is quick & agile) Kill him then open the CHEST Follow the gem trail up the platforms & climb the chain. Jump off at the top to find a SAVE POINT & save the game Return to the wooden platforms & jump to the CHEST then return to the SAVE POINT A cut scene will show Balfor in his prison cell RESCUING BALFOR Wait until the guard goes past then run & hide behind the crates with the 3 purple gems. Time your next run as the guard goes past to the crates to the right with gems next to them & hide behind them. Looking ahead you see another guard patrolling & the next set of safe crates with purple gems. As both guards walk away run to the crates & hide As the guard nearest you walks away run to the next purple gems without over taking the guard. The next run is to the crates in front of Balfor. When you are there time your run when the guard walks away to run over & talk to Balfor. He tells you where the release switch is. Go back & wait behind the crates & watch the pattern of movements of the guards As all the guards patrolling are walking away from you run straight around the edge of the room to the switch. Operate the switch on the wall Balfor is released & slaughters the guards Before leaving this area push the moveable block to the rocky ledge where there are some gems. From here look over to the central platform & you see a switch. Throw a rock at it & a ladder will drop down. Go & climb the ladder & explore the upper level. You will find an alcove with a CHEST & a room with 2 CHESTS, a skeleton key & a switch on the wall. Pull the switch & the cell door by the SAVE POINT will open Return to the SAVE POINT & explore the cell for treasure Now follow the purple trail out of this area. Climb the platforms & chains to the top & kill the Goblin (sometimes 1 sometimes 3). SAVE POINT RIDE THE CART Get into the cart & go for a ride. On the way around you will see arrows in green & red. By hitting out with your staff just before you get to the arrow you can change them from green to red & vice versa. First trip around change all the green arrows to red & you will arrive at a cave with gems, Water of Vigour & a CHEST Back into the cart & you return to the cave with the SAVE POINT Ride the cart again, this time change all the arrows to green You will exit the mines. You find yourself in a cave with a SAVE POINT. Exit this cave & you enter a dank cave. Slide down towards the waters edge & go right. Behind the steps with the gem trail is a health potion. At the top of the steps is the Ring Cut scene – Gollum & Bilbo playing riddles (Vendor -Ensure a good supply of health potions) LEVEL 6 - FLIES & SPIDERS Cut scene – the dwarves are lost in Mirkwood Forest Quest – find the dwarves Plants fire back at you in this level In this clearing is a SAVE POINT Climb the rope to the next area & stone 3 plants. CHEST by the tree roots. Follow gem trail to next area & cut the web. Jump up to the log & find Dori’s helmet Into the next area & you are attacked by 3 spiders & tarantula – you can stand & fight or run to the tree root on the left jump up to it & stone them Through the next web & 3 green spider attack The water ahead is poisonous. Jump to the ropes to get across (the 1st rope shrinks up & the 2nd collapses. You will not fall off the shrinking rope but be careful as it extends again that you don’t dangle in the water) SAVE POINT to the right As you approach the river 3 Undead soldiers rise from the ground (they are nasty keep & eye on you health) – if you can possibly get to the tree roots (left or right in front of the river) you can stone them from there. The rocks by the river are regenerating ones Over the river is a dead log – throw a rock at it & it will drop to form a bridge Cross the river. There is a CHEST to the left. To the left of the chest is a small block. Climb up & onto the tree root. Walk over to the rope & jump onto it. The 2nd rope will stretch to the ground forming a short cut. A series of tricky jumps over the ropes & branches will take you to a CHEST. Keep your eyes open for all the gems around Return to the SAVE POINT & across the river again. Pick up the exploding rocks & stone the plants around the corner. Climb the rope & into the next area into a ruined campsite SAVE POINT Talk to Corwin – he will explain what has happened & that the web ahead is too thick to chop through QUEST – Find oil QUEST – Find Corwin’s memento Follow the gem trail into a hollow log & cut through the web You emerge on top of a bolder DO NOT JUMP DOWN YET. Stone as many plants below as you can reach you will probably need to go all the way back to the river side to restock up on rocks. Eventually you will have to jump down into the plant area to reach the rest of the plants Climb up the rope to the next area. You see a number of strange thorny plants in poisoned water. Some are tall & some are low in the water. As you jump to the higher ones some of the lower ones rise up. There is a time limit on how long the plants will stay raised. Methodically jump over the plants as they rise up (To the right is a little area tucked around the corner with a large gem) Jump your way over to the other side of the water to the SAVE POINT. (If you fall in the water you will get poisoned but you can jump out at the start again) Drop down to the ledge below & head right for a CHEST Drop down to the boggy area. You have to walk onto this & will drop down into a shallow pool of water with a log in the centre. You will see a moveable block acting as a plug. Move this & water will start to pour in so quickly jump back onto the log & float up with it In one direction is a ledge with some gems & the other direction is the North Campsite. After collecting gems by jumping the ropes (the 1st one collapses), return to the log. You will need to pole vault to the campsite edge. As you enter the campsite you see a CHEST. The best way of tackling this area that I found was not to go to the chest yet Over to the right is a web, which you slash, & 3 poison spiders attack. Quickly jump up to the ledge in front where you can stone them. Jump back down to the campsite & head towards the sword as you get there, lots of spiders & tarantulas attack. Run back to the ledge & stone as many as you can before running out of rocks. Then you will have to jump down & fight the rest Collect the oil from the chest & search the rest of the area slashing webs to find treasure. Around the corner is a large web. Slash this & you see a slimy slope. Make sure you are well charged up with health Slide down here & a large tarantula attacks you. Attack him hard with a jumping & smashing technique. When he lands on his back hit him as much as you can. 4-5 times of him landing on his back & he will be dead Push the block over below the cave up in the wall & jump up. Cut the web & open 2 CHESTS. Corwin’s ring is here also The temptation is to then jump around the ledges around the wall but it is much easier to push the block over to the rocks at the right of the exit & climb up here. Shimmy your way around the ledge to the exit Jump down & make your way to the first web you slashed by the water. (Ignore all the gems you see on the higher levels here you can’t reach them yet) Head up the path. You will find a CHEST en route. At the end drop down to find Corwin in the original campsite Give him his family ring (You should go & restock on rocks again whilst you are near the river – you will need them later) Go put the oil on the camp fire & the web will burn. A web rope will lower & you can climb into the next area Here you find Nori’s cape & a CHEST 3 tarantulas & 3 green spiders will attack you Climb up the rope by the river into a hollow log. Pole vault to the next log. As you slice through the web 3 green spiders attack Out of the end is a SAVE POINT Follow the gem trail along the branch. (if you jump to the rope on the left it extends to the ground as a short cut then return to the branch) Turn around to the right & pole vault & jump to reach the CHEST. Then return to this branch Pole vault to the rope & jump to the next. Pole vault to the next rock & a SAVE POINT Enter the hollow log & head for the next area FIGHTING THE UNDEAD You emerge above a clearing. Drop down & head left to the rivers edge Collect items & a CHEST This next part is difficult. You will need to keep & eye on your health to make sure you heal up when needed. As you head into the centre of the area the undead will arise (you have regenerating rocks here) The tactic I used : There are 2 types a swordsmen & archers. You need to take the archers out first as they do most damage You will see a large fallen tree trunk between this area & the next (DO NOT ENTER THE NEXT AREA YET) As the undead arise run & pick up the exploding rocks en route. Jump to the top of the tree trunk where an archer will be posted & kill him with exploding rocks as this is quickest. Whilst you still have exploding rocks, stone the other archers then as many of the others as you can before jumping down into the clearing again Beware a second wave of undead appear including another archer. You can jump up onto the log & stone them if you collect more rocks. This time the area will be clear. A rope next to the fallen tree trunk will lead you up to a coins but you will not be able to collect any other gems yet. Make sure your health is ok then jump over into the next area. More undead arise do the same as you did before When the area is clear you can open the CHEST & collect any items lying around. You may want to go & top up your rocks in the first clearing. Then return to this clearing & go to the SAVE POINT On the lake a raft is floating around. When it is close enough jump onto it COLLECTING THE URNS Jump off onto the island to the right with the purple gem. Climb up the rope & onto the branch. Then jump to next rope & branch. To the left is a CHEST in the tree trunk. (Collapsing rope to get to it) Back to the previous branch & walk through the tree trunk to another CHEST Turn around & jump to the rope with the purple gems & then to the next rope & to the next rope. Jump to the tree trunk to collect the Blue Urn Jump down to the fallen tree trunk here (and go save the game again if you wish to) then climb up the extended rope to the branch. Jump to the rope to the right then jump to the next branch & pick up the Red Urn Jump to the next rope & to the rock. Pole vault to the large rock & climb down the rope Jump to the raft. On the left side of the lake are 2 ropes. Jump up to the 1st then to the second & to the island to collect the Yellow Urn Then back to the raft. (I recommend saving again at this point) At the side of the lake is an area with a large gate. Jump from the raft to this area. Place the three urns in the correct colour order onto the pedestals The gate will open. As you enter it will close behind you & the Wight Lord will arise. He will also have several of his undead soldiers arise My advice here is to attack the Wight Lord & ignore his lackeys. When your health gets low take a Waters of Vigour (there are regenerating mushrooms around the edge if you prefer). Attack the Wight Lord from behind whenever possible Once the Wight Lord is defeated, take out the archers then any others left (Note – mushrooms regenerate here so you can come back and recharge) Exit through the newly opened gate to find a CHEST & SAVE POINT Rescuing the Dwarves from the Spiders Beware, as there are lots of spiders through these next areas You find Ori’s boot Slice through the web & lots of spiders & tarantulas attack Find the CHEST & SAVE POINT Climb up the rope. You will need to work your way up the tree from rope to branch. The darker ropes collapse & some ropes shrink up (but you will not fall off of those ones). Pick up lots of gems & a CHEST en route At the top climb into the tree trunk & up the rope. Climb the rope to find a SAVE POINT At the end of the branch is a CHEST Return to the SAVE POINT & climb into the slide. At the bottom is another SAVE POINT, a CHEST & Balin’s belt Slice through the first web & 2 green spiders attack Slice through into the next area & more spiders & tarantulas attack (about 7 greens, 3 tarantulas & 1 large tarantula) To the left is a CHEST guarded by plants Pick up any gems & items in this area Slice the web to the next area. Loads of spiders! Keep running & slice through to the next area where there is a stone ramp. Run part way up it out of reach of the spiders. From here you can stone most of them Once they are all dead, search around for treasure There is a SAVE POINT & CHEST next to the stone ramp Go up to the top of the ramp. At the end of the passage is a large area with large rock formations all around. There are also masses of spiders of all sizes The dwarves are in 3 bundles at the top of 3 of the rock formations. You will need to get to the top & cut them down You can out run the spiders so you can run around collecting mushrooms & stones. Pick a rock formation, run to it & start climbing when you are 2 or 3 steps up you can stone the spiders At the top of a rock formation the little spiders can reach you so be careful. There are SAVE POINTS at the top of some of the rock formations 2 of the rock formations that you can climb up will have bundles of dwarves that you can cut down & one will have a death slide to swing over & jump off to rescue the other bundle of dwarves When you have cut down all the dwarves a cut scene will show Bilbo being trapped The 3 Spider Sisters You will now have a battle with each of the 3 sisters Your best tactic with all three sisters is to run around the area collecting stones (and health if needed) then jump up to the first or second step up on a rock formation. Stone the slave spiders around the sister. You can jump down & run to collect more rocks as needed. You will need a different tactic to kill each of the sisters: The 1st sister, Wrath – when her slaves are dead simply kill her with Sting The 2nd sister, Wicked – collect exploding rocks. These will be handy to take out the slaves as well as to kill Wicked The 3rd sister, Wild – collect freezing rocks. Once the slaves are all gone, use them to freeze her then run over, hit her once & get back to the safety of the rock formation. Repeat until she is defeated Cut scene – Bilbo escapes & the elves catch the dwarves LEVEL 7 - BARRELS OUT OF BOND Another level of sneaking around but this time you can use the ring. The ring only lasts a short time & you can still get caught if you bump into some one Head right to the SAVE POINT COURTYARD 1 Jump to the island in the river, climb the rope & jump to the ledge. Jump to the next rope & when the elf walks away climb down the rope & run to hide behind the tree To your right is a path leading up to a large gate Put on the ring & run up the path avoiding the elves & pull the lever with the pink stone on top, behind the elf to the right in front of the gate Cut scene with Lianna QUEST – collect the 3 red Elvish Opening Crystals SAVE POINT When the ring has recharged put it on & run down the steps to the right & jump in the stream. Make your way to the right to jump up & collect the Elvish Opening Crystal (rope here to gems) Back down stream (you can hide & recharge the ring under the bridge) there is a ledge to help you out of the water by the waterfall With the ring on jump out of the stream & run over the bridge to pick up the next Elvish Opening Crystal in front of the king Head left & jump up the steps, over the brook & to the rope. Climb the rope to the ledge above. You cannot be seen up here Head to the right & over a bridge you will see a SAVE POINT Go past the patterned blocks with 3 posts in front of them & jump to the rope. Jump from rope to rope to reach the next ledge & pick up the third Elvish Opening Crystal. Jump to the next rope & drop onto the rock below. Pole vault to the next 2 rocks to collect the Moonleaf Return to the patterned blocks you saw a few minutes ago Place the Elvish Opening Crystals on the posts & the blocks will lower to become slabs on the ground. Drag the moveable blocks onto the slabs matching the patterns on them Head over the bridge to the SAVE POINT Past the SAVE POINT follow the gem trail into a tunnel This leads to a room where some elves are talking. Put on the ring & slip past them into the next tunnel to the right A cut scene will show where the dwarves are imprisoned ELF STOCKADE 1 Let the ring recharge then run up the length of the room avoiding the elves to a ladder. Climb the ladder & head right. Hide behind the barrels When the ring recharges make you way past the elf up to the other end of the path to a SAVE POINT & the cell where the dwarves are imprisoned Talk to Balin QUEST – find an escape Make your way back to the ladder (remembering to use the ring) & climb down. Head down the tunnel at the bottom SAVE POINT Check out the other passage but do not enter the room at the end. This is the Barrel room Cut scene showing the escape route Go back to Balin & tell him the plan Lianna explains how to drug Galian the elf in the Barrel room. She gives you the web- melting potion QUEST – retrieve the herbs From the room next to the Barrel room exit down the newly opened passage to the outside again. Jump to the rope, which will stretch down to the ground to give you a short cut back into the stockade again COURTYARD 2 Jump to the raised grassy mound to the right. (Watch out for the elf below) To the right of here is a shimmy to some rocks & a CHEST Back to the grassy mound & jump to the rope then to the collapsing rope & onto the crescent shaped mound Collect the Willoweed. Jump to the next rope & jump to the ledge to pick up the Deep Cellar Key 1 (blue crystal). Climb up to the doorway & enter Burn through the web at the end using the potion. Lots of green spiders attack Pick up Deep Cellar Key 4. (Beware 2 tarantulas attack as you collect the gems behind the web) At the far end of the cave cut the web for the Spiderbone. 7 tarantulas will attack you Exit the cave & climb down to ground level. Put on the ring & run across the path in front of the gate to the grass area the other side. You will see a SAVE POINT Past the save point is a small alcove valley where you find Deep Cellar Key 3 You may wish to search all around the ground here between the save point & the river, with the ring on, to find potions & gems & a CHEST. On ledges above here to the left & the right are gems & also a tunnel covered by a grill with a post in front of it – you will need a fourth Elvish Opening Crystal to get into this area which you will be able to do later Using the ring return to the rope that is your short cut back to the Stockade ELF STOCKADE 2 Enter the Barrel Room & put the 3 herbs into Galian’s cup Cut scene - Galian keels over Back up to Balin again Cut scene – Thorin is being held in the Deep Cellar QUEST – rescue Thorin Deep Cellar Climb down the hole in the floor & slide down to a large damp cave There are some exploding rocks in this area on the bank of ground ahead & a SAVE POINT to the right To your left is a rope to a ledge where you can stone some of the Froggies below. (Some of the Froggie here emit a poisonous gas) Head down the cave straight ahead (rather than to the right) where you see islands down the centre Stay on the top of the islands as it is easier to stone the Froggies. Keep going, taking out the Froggies until further up & around the corner you see an archway into the next cave There are a lot of Froggies in here & I found the best thing to do is run in (you can choose to wear the ring – it does not stop them sensing you but I think it slowed them down a bit) & pick up the exploding rocks Exit this cave again & stand a little way outside it. The Froggies tend to come out 1 or 2 at a time then & you get the chance to stone them with exploding rocks & then batter them when the rocks run out Search this cave for items then return to the SAVE POINT Ensure the area of the cave to the side of the SAVE POINT (to the left as you look at the SAVE POINT) is clear of Froggies now (there is usually one hanging around) Now climb the rock with the climbable weed on it. (Just follow the purple gems) Turn to your left & jump over to the gems. Keep going, jumping around the ledges & ropes at the edge of the cave to find the blue Elvish Opening Crystal Return to the rock with the climbable weeds up the side (From here you can jump to the ledge with the green gem to collect items, then back to this ledge again) This time head right jump to the ledge to the right. Jump, shimmy & climb all the way around the wall to a cave entrance This bit is fun. As you enter the cave a tribe of gophers attack a Froggie. Don’t get involved – let them battle it out. Just nip in occasionally to collect the Gems. Eventually they kill the Froggie & a few gophers are left. Take them out. Search the cave then climb the rope that has lowered & up to a tunnel & through to a SAVE POINT At the edge of the ledge jump to the rope to your right – it will stretch making a short cut from the ground to this ledge. Jump back to the ledge again Then head the other way pole vaulting to the rope and next ledge. Work your way around collecting treasure until you reach the 1st CHEST Jump to the collapsing rope over to the 2nd CHEST. (For some reason I kept having trouble with this chest so I used a skeleton key). Jump up to the big gem them carefully work your way to the ground Run over to the shortcut rope that you stretched a few minutes ago & climb up to the ledge that forms the archway into the adjacent cave Follow the purple gems. Jump to the lower pedestal rock then up to the next one. Jump to the 1st rope with purple gems then to the rock with the green gem. Jump your way over to collect the gems then onto the next 2 ropes & up to a CHEST Jump 3 ropes back then to the ledge with the purple gem trail into a tunnel. You emerge further up the cave Follow the trail around to the right jump to a rock then to the shimmy to the right & shimmy all the way around to the end. Drop down onto the ledge Go through the arch then jump to 2 ropes, climb up & collect Deep Cellar Key 2. Carry on down the passage & you find yourself in the Deep Cellar CHEST & SAVE POINT here Talk to Thorin There is a locking device in the centre of the room. Each of the 4 sides is marked like a dice with dots. A key on the wall indicates which key number fits which side of the device BEFORE you unlock Thorin’s cell, this is the only point now where you will be able to go back to retrieve any treasure you have missed including the tunnel with the grill over it (See Courtyard 2 for a reminder) Opposite Thorin’s cell is a door with a lever next to it. If you pull the lever then use the ring to sneak past the guards this passage will take you back to the Stockade & you should be able to find your way around from here as it is familiar ground The tunnel behind the grill will take you to the top of the Elf King's throne room & you can explore the high ledges around this area for gems also. When you have finished all your exploring return to the Deep Cellar & release Thorin Lock Key 1 2 2 4 3 1 4 3 Cut scene – showing the dwarves escaping LEVEL 8 – A WARM WELCOME You are in Lake Town. (Smash crates & jars in this level) QUEST – go & thank the Lake Master Follow the path to the town centre – this is a raised platform above the water level with houses all around the outside. It forms a rough quadrilateral There are 3 SAVE POINTS around the town centre Follow the pathway around to the Great Hall where the Lake Master waits. Speak to him & he will introduce you to Bard In this level whilst the Dwarves are living it up, Bilbo will be set all sorts of tasks to do during his stay QUEST – Find & track the Wine Thief TRACKING THE THIEF Head left around the path to a SAVE POINT with a purple gem trail next to it Follow the trail around the corner & go up steps ahead Cut scene – showing you where to hide Wait behind the crates until the thief appears. Watch him. Don’t move straight away as he starts to head to the town then doubles back & heads around the corner Follow him unobserved. Keep an eye on the gauge. The close you are the lower the gauge gets. Try to keep it about ¼ to ½ way. Follow him & peep around corners to check first as he sometimes doubles back a bit before moving on Eventually he will drop a drawbridge & enter the building. You can head over the drawbridge & look around the corner Cut scene – back to Bard QUEST – check out the warehouse Head right to the SAVE POINT THE WAREHOUSE Follow the path, at the junction go straight on then follow the path left around the corner. Head down the steps, left then right over the drawbridge to the warehouse door & a SAVE POINT. (Don’t bother pulling the lever as it only operates the drawbridge) Open the door & go in. Smash the crates Stand at the doorway but do not step on the ledge yet as it collapses. Check out the layout of the room. There are platforms each side of the room & opposite with crates underneath. The right hand platform is the only one you are able to climb up to from the ground Walk onto the ledge & drop into the room. Goblins appear. There are 2 bombers on the platforms each side. Run to the right & jump up to get to the platform from the crate. Take out the bomber then throw rocks at the bomber opposite. You can then stone the other Goblins below Back down to the ground to open the CHEST & any other items lying around Pull the lever to open the door. Climb up the crates to the left for one CHEST then the crates on the other side of the door to open the other CHEST Push the crate on the ground to reach the platform opposite the door & climb up to pull the lever Return to the previous room & climb back up to the platform. Pole vault to the smaller platform behind you. Time your jump on to the rope as it swings towards you Jump to the top of the crates on the next platform as you swing close enough. Pull the lever here to set the next rope swinging. Jump to the rope & to the next platform. At the end pole vault to the last rope Climb up to the top & jump to the top of the crates on the first platform to get the CHEST. Jump back to the rope & out of the hatchway you originally came in Exit the building Cut scene – Bard QUEST – go to the cider house QUEST – Find the black arrow To the left of Bard is the entrance to the Cider House. Enter & head up the 3 steps & to the stairs. Up the stairs speak to Orfus the thief QUEST – Speak to Rennar Exit the Cider House & head right. Right at the next junction & follow the path down the steps. Go past the drawbridge to the warehouse & follow the path around to the left. You see Rennar on a little jetty. The path will take you to the entrance to the jetty. Go & speak to Rennar Cut scene – Rennar gives you the key to his warehouse RENNAR’S WAREHOUSE Back up the steps & to the left is the entrance to Rennar’s warehouse. Go inside & find a SAVE POINT Down the passage you see green gas jetting from vents – it is poisonous You can approach it & watch the sequence. Periodically each line of vents is clear. Choose one line & time your run across. Do not run too far as there is another line of vents up the wall. Again watch & time your run. After getting past the second line of wall vents carefully time your next run & head left up onto the crates Around the corner are more vents. These are a bit trickier. There is not a clear run. Watch the sequence again & choose a line (I found the far left the easiest). Carefully take short sharp runs along the line of vents just keeping behind the gas jets Head for the wall ahead & pull the lever to turn off the gas Turn right & jump up to the platform to a SAVE POINT Walk to the small section of the platform jutting out You see ahead of you 3 beams, 2 ropes & a moving platform. The beams collapse. Line yourself up so that the end of each beam in directly in line with you. You need to be methodical Jump to beam 1 & climb up Immediately run/jump to beam 2 & climb up Immediately run/jump to beam 3 & climb up Turn left & jump to the rope (do not climb up or down you are at the right height for the next jump) Wait until the moving platform is furthest away from you then jump to it. Jump to the rope & then into the hatchway At the bottom are poison gas Froggies Turn to your left & jump up to the crate & platform. You can stone the Froggies from here Explore the floor then back up to the platform. Jump to the rope & climb up to jump to the platform with the purple gem on it. Jump to the next rope then platform & jump to the platform with the SAVE POINT on it Turn right & jump to the collapsing rope then to the safe rope. Climb up to the top & jump to the rafters. Walk around to get the CHEST, then back to the rope & jump to the last platform Walk through the door & turn right. Jump up the rope & climb up to the rafters. Jump over & follow the gem trail. Jump to the rope & climb down a bit to jump to the platform with the SAVE POINT Pull the lever & enter the door Cut scene – Goblin with the Black Arrow. Bilbo sees weapons in the crates Pull the lever on the wall QUEST – report this to Bard Out of the room & turn right. At the end of the platform pole vault to the longest rope. Jump to the rope with purple gems. Swivel left & climb down a bit then jump to the beam. (Aim for the end closest the wall). Jump to the next beam & then to the platform At the other end of the platform jump across the beams & ledges to get to the SAVE POINT at the far end Pull the lever on the wall to open the door. From here jump to the top of the crates below to collect items & reach the ground. Exit the warehouse Cut scene – Reporting to Bard QUEST – talk to Malloc OPENING THE THIEVES LAIR – THE WINE BOTTLES Go to the Cider House. Up the 3 steps, Malloc is the old man in the corner. He tells you he will help you if you help him QUEST – retrieve Malloc’s golden dagger Exit the Cider House & go to Bilbo’s left. Take the first right & follow the path to the end. The gem trail leads up to Malloc’s house Enter & go up the stairs to the CHEST. Retrieve the dagger from the chest & return to the Cider House to give Malloc his dagger He tells you that the entrance to the thieves’ lair is in the Cider House cellar. You will need 5 special bottles of wine to open the lock QUEST – Retrieve the bottles Talk to Vaden the barman – receive the Purple bottle Go down into the cellar to collect the Blue bottle Exit the Cider House to find the 3 houses with serpents on the door Head to Bilbo’s right then right at the junction. Follow the path around the corner. Go up the steps to the left to Rand’s house. Open the CHEST & collect the Yellow bottle Back down the steps, go right & follow the path. Straight on at the junction & Elik’s house is just on the right. Enter & retrieve the Black bottle from the CHEST Exit the house & carry on along the path past the Great Hall. Orlan’s house is just around the corner. Enter the house & retrieve the Red bottle from the CHEST Return to the Cider House & speak to Malloc. He cannot remember the order that the bottles should be put into the lock but gives you cryptic clues Go down to the cellar & enter the bottles into the wine rack in the correct order Yellow Blue Red Black Purple A secret door opens behind you THE THIEVES LAIR Climb down the collapsing rope Floating bridges Enter a room with floating bridge sections, a SAVE POINT to the left & a control box to the right. In this room are 2 door at the corners closest to you & 2 levers at the corners furthest away plus an exit directly opposite Operate the machine – moving the highlighted box & pressing X will select a segment of the bridge network & moving to a second segment & pressing X will swap the 2 pieces. The first task is to connect the doors & levers. Imagine they are numbered as follows: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 Swap the following segments in this order: 4 & 1 2 & 4 2 & 7 2 & 9 2 & 6 2 & 8 All the doors & levers at the corners of the room should now be connected Go to the lever at the top right of the room, pull it & run to the door at the bottom left of the room (it is on a timer). Open the 2 CHESTS & then pull the lever. Exit the room Go to the lever at the top left of the room, pull it & run to the door at the bottom right of the room (it is on a timer). Open the 2 CHESTS & then pull the lever. Exit the room Return to the control panel & operate it. Simply swap some segments to make a straight path down the centre so that you can exit at the other end BARREL PROBLEM Enter the next room – you have a SAVE POINT to your left 6 panels on the floor & 3 barrels. There are 3 doors to the left right & straight ahead The object is to place the barrels in the correct sequence to open each of the doors in turn As you look at the barrels they weigh from left to right 3, 2 & 1. The shading on the side helps to identify them. In between sequences remove all barrels from the panels before starting the next one. It will also show the Black Arrow QUEST – retrieve the Black Arrow Open the CHEST next to you Do not bother trying to collect anything from the floor of this room you will get instantly caught – you can collect items later Put the ring on & jump down to the crates below with the purple gem on. Jump to the crate to the right then to the crate with the pink gem on. Jump down to the right & up onto the next crates. Drop down over the other side & hide in this nook while the ring recharges Look across the gap where the Goblin is patrolling & you will see the purple gem trail. Put on the ring & time your run when the Goblin walks away to run over to the gems & climb up the crate. Drop over the other side, collect the Black Arrow Climb back up the crate you just dropped down to & climb up to the top of the crates. Turn to the left & jump to the rope with gems on it. Jump over to the SAVE POINT Cut scene – showing the Goblins & thieves fighting Jump back to the rope & then to the next good rope (ignoring the darker collapsing ones), then to the next good rope. Then jump to the collapsing rope ahead & to the crates Jump to the platform with the gems on & shimmy over to the platform to the right. Turn & jump to the rope & then to the little platform. Pole vault to the platform with the SAVE POINT on it Open the CHEST & exit the room Cut scene – Bard sends in the guard You have now completed all the quests for Bard. You can now take you time & explore the town for treasure, plus return to the thieves lair to collect all the treasure on the floor & the ledges you did not visit I am not going to explain where all the treasure can be found as there are no dangers or time limit with your exploration – just make sure you check every ledge, roof top & around every corner. Check out the boats & boards on the water as well When you are done exploring return to speak to Bard in order to exit this level LEVEL 9 - INSIDE INFORMATION Cut Scene – Thorin asks you to enter Smaug’s lair to retrieve a golden cup QUEST – retrieve the Golden Cup of Thor Proceed into the passage way to the SAVE POINT SLEEPING SMAUG A gauge will show you Smaug’s alertness. If he starts to wake, stand still. Do not tread on the coins as the noise will wake him. You do not need to go out of your way to collect chests & treasure yet as you can get them later Head up & to the right around the balcony Look to your left before the end and you see a blue CHEST the other side of the railing – jump over to it. Turn to your left. Over some fallen pillars & gold coins you will see a SAVE POINT, head for that jumping over the coins onto solid rock From the SAVE POINT carry on following the gems, jumping over the rubble until you see a tall pillar with a SAVE POINT behind it & a moveable block in front of it Carefully jump your way down to the ground next to the pillar (using the chains may help) Carefully move the block a little bit at a time to the pillar. Use it to climb up to the top of this pillar. From here you can jump to the chandelier Jump from chandelier to chain all the way over to where Smaug lays sleeping. You will end up on a very long chain which you need to climb down Cut scene - Bilbo retrieving the cup Jump to the fallen wall in front of you with the gem trail on it. Jump to the fallen pillar to the left leading up to a CHEST Jump to the fallen pillar in front of Smaug’s claw & walk to the end. Pole vault to the higher block, then jump to the fallen wall & a CHEST. Jump up to the block ahead (still following the gems). Drop down to the SAVE POINT Head around the rocks bearing left back to the original balcony you entered that will lead you back to the passageway. Exit Smaug’s lair SMAUG’S WEAKNESS QUEST – Find out Smaug’s weak spot Smaug is now awake. You need to use the ring to sneak from hiding place to hiding place Put the ring on & go to the end of the balcony. Turn to the left & head for the same SAVE POINT you did before Hide here & recharge the ring Turn around & carry on following the gems, jump to the chains & over to the clear ground. SAVE POINT behind the big pillar where you moved the block. Hide here & recharge the ring Round to the front of the pillar, follow the gem trail to the left to the next SAVE POINT Hide here & recharge the ring Climb up & run & jump following the gems, jump up the pillar at the end. SAVE POINT at the back of the pillar Hide here & recharge the ring The next part has to be done quickly Jump up on top of the pillar & do running jumps to chains & chandeliers (follow the gems) progressing towards the largest chandelier at the centre of the room On top of the largest chandelier collect the gems & a cut scene will show Bilbo discovering Smaug’s week spot SMAUG ATTACKS You will now have to run the gauntlet. You are at a SAVE POINT. Smaug is attacking. You will need to time your runs from safe place to safe place in between Smaug’s roar. All you have to do is follow the gem trail pausing behind the high rocks etc to give yourself protection. At the end of the gem trail Bilbo escapes Cut scene – Bilbo tells of the weak spot & Smaug attacks trapping them inside his lair SAVE POINT by the dwarves SMAUG’S LAIR – QUEST FOR TREASURE QUEST – Bridge the gorge for the dwarves Speak to Bombur QUEST – find Gold Serving Dish Speak to Balin QUEST – find Spears of Balin Speak to Dwaline QUEST – find Necklace of Girion Speak to Gloin QUEST – find Giant Ruby Go exploring over the gold coins. Here’s where you can pick up all those gems & CHESTS you saw before. Explore all balconies at all levels & all nooks & crannies Again most of the treasure & CHESTS are obvious to find & you are safe with no time restrictions on you so you can explore all around find them yourself. I will explain where to find the dwarves’ treasure & I will mention any chests en route to them SPEARS OF BALIN Locate the passage that Bilbo originally entered Smaug’s lair. Go to the end of the balcony & onto the railing. Turn around & jump up to the next balcony – SAVE POINT, go right. Next to the CHEST is a closed secret door which contains the Ruby, remember this for later. This balcony is blocked along here but you can jump onto the railing & make your way around the blockage to pick up the spears GOLDEN SERVINF DISH Back to the SAVE POINT, go left & shimmy to the ledge then to the next one. There is a button in the wall. Push it & a secret door opens at ground level. Carry on to the end of the balcony, you see a pillar ahead with a SAVE POINT. Jump to the lower platform in from of it & make your way down to ground level to the wall where you will find the Golden Serving Dish NECKLACE OF GIRION Go back to the balcony in front of the passage where Bilbo first entered the Lair & carry on past it. Look to the left as you are working your way around the room until you see a block that you can jump up to reach a chain up to a balcony Jump up to get to the balcony from the chain & find a button to press on the wall. Back down to the ground & continue to work your way around the wall (you will find more CHESTS) & near to the pillar where you moved the block before in the wall will be the secret door with the Necklace of Girion GIANT RUBY To find the button for the secret door for the Ruby you need to get up to the top balcony. This can be done by working your way all the way around to the other side of the gorge opposite the dwarves (why they can’t walk around to here is anybody’s guess) Go past the flight of stairs, there is a way up this way. You will need to jump & climb your way up to the top balcony & work your way around this level until you find the button While you are up here work your way around the whole room including jumping up to the chandeliers for more gems & access to 2 CHESTS that would be impossible to get to from anywhere else When you have explored this level you can work your way down to ground level & then over to the SAVE POINT on the balcony above Bilbo’s original passage into the lair, (remember). The Ruby will be tucked around the corner from the SAVE POINT When you have thoroughly explored Smaug’s lair you should have found 26 chests as well as the dwarves’ treasures Return to the dwarves & give them the items they asked for DOWN THE GORGE Make your way down the gorge jumping from ropes to ledges. As you near the bottom you see a huge door laying flat on the rocks below. Make your way down to the rocks it is laying on & find the CHEST around the other side Jump down into the water & wade around the area, you will find 4 more CHESTS hidden in alcoves. Go to the SAVE POINT Next to the SAVE POINT are a moveable block & a whirlpool. Don’t move the block yet as it will plug the whirlpool & stop the water draining away There are 4 plugholes all the way up to the top of the gorge. Each hole will need to be blocked by a moveable block. This will be a race against time as if you are too slow the water will catch up with Bilbo & he will drown The best plan of action is to map out your route to the top so you know where you are going & also it will allow you time to pick up items on the way which you would not have time to do when the water level is rising Your route starts by running up the ramp to the left of the rock supporting the door. Then a pole vault left to the rock next to it & follow the purple gems What I also did was push the blocks so that they only required a small amount of movement to push them into place which speeds things up when you are racing up the gorge. You only need to map out the route to as far as the 4th block when you will then run & jump to pedestal rocks & ropes When you are happy that you know the route start from the bottom & plug the first hole (make sure with all the blocks you push them until Bilbo lets go of his own accord – if you do not have them in exactly the right place then you are stuffed!) Quickly run your route & when you get to the 4th plug run up & jump across the pedestal rocks & ropes When you reach the last rope, which is nearly over the top of the door/raft, hang on until the water has raised the door/raft up high enough to jump to safely Talk to Thorin & run up the steps to enter Erebor LEVEL 10 – THE GATHERING OF THE CLOUDS (Smash urns in this level) MAIN HALL 1 Cut scene – Thorin explains about the treasury, the doors & the Arkenstone SAVE POINT nearby QUEST – find the Arkenstone QUEST – open the door with rune stones Talk to Oin (by the rune stones to the left of Thorin) Flip & move the blocks so that you complete the jigsaw in the wall to match the runes (smaller pictures) on the wall. You have 2 to complete this side of the room (hint - these 2 are the wrong way around) & then across the other side of the room are 2 more to fit in place Cut scene – all the doors open Climb the scaffolding by the canal to retrieve the Gear Belt Around the Main Hall there are 4 large statues – look at the names on them & copy the runes that represent the letters onto a piece of paper Head up to the end of the room (opposite the open wall) & enter either of the doors to the side of the Stone Throne area (this is where there are steps leading up to a large stone throne) WATER ROOM 1 These door lead to the water room area Up the steps & around the corner you see a statue on one side & a set of slabs to the other in front of a door. The slabs have runes on them & the white single slab is a reset button Walking on a slab with a rune on activates that slab. The ones with holes in are spike traps & the plain ones don’t do anything Read the plaque on the wall. You have to spell EREBOR with by treading on the right rune slabs. Read the statue name & you will find out which runes represent the correct letters – copy them down on a piece of paper. You can tread on the plain slabs to get to the right runes & you can walk diagonally over the runes as well as in straight lines When you have pressed the correct slabs in the correct order the door will open Now reset the slabs & spell out the names that you read off of the statues, resetting after each name. Each combination opens a secret door containing a CHEST which you will locate on your travels Enter the Water room Go down the steps to the SAVE POINT & speak to Gloin QUEST – activate all the water canals Head to the back of the room & climb the ladder on the left. (The one on the right is broken) At the top is a control device, which operates a series of valves. The idea is to select valves & turn them X so that the water flow goes to both the canals at the top & to the side channels to the wall This will open more secret doors containing CHESTS around Erebor & will also power up the Gear Room. This is where you need to go now GEAR ROOM 1 As you exit the Water Room the Gear Room is to the right side of the Main Hall – it will have a picture of cogs on the outside Enter the passage way & climb over the barricade – beware spiders will attack. I found it best to run & jump back onto the barricade & stone the spiders Enter the Gear Room. Bombur is here Quest – repair the machinery Head down the steps & climb the scaffolding. At the top of there is a place to insert the Gear Belt. The cable car system will now be operational (At the end of the bottom layer of scaffolding you can dangle off the end to get the coins) WATER ROOM 2 Back to the Water Room & up the ladder again. Jump to the cable car, ride to the end of the room & jump off before entering the tunnel. Run along the ledge & pick up Key Mould 2. From just inside the tunnel here you can climb up the side wall a bit & jump back onto the cable car. Ride back to the other end of the Water Room again & jump off onto the area at the top of the broken ladder that you could not get to before. Operate the device here & change the valves as you did with the last set of valves so that water flows to the 2 canals and both the side channels In total the 2 sets of valves open 4 secret doors in The Gear Room downstairs – 1 CHEST The Forge upstairs – 1 CHEST Water Room downstairs (x2) – 2 CHESTS Treasury Room upstairs & downstairs – 1 CHEST Jump back onto the Cable Car & ride into the tunnel. There are balconies running around the top of each room that you can jump to from the cable car (You can jump off in the next room – Gear Room to collect Gems, there are spiders here, then back onto the cable car) Don’t jump off in the next room (Treasury) MAIN HALL UPSTAIRS Jump off in the next room, Main Hall Collect the items here. Jump to the chain & allow it to stretch to the floor creating a short cut. Climb back up & jump to the balcony & back to the cable car Ride over to the other side of the room & jump off SAVE POINT Make your way along the balcony to a broken beam across a gap. Pole vault across the beam. As you carry on spiders will attack. Run back to the beam, the spiders cannot reach you on the beam & you can stone them At the end of the balcony collect Mould Key 1 Jump to the chain to create a short cut as before then back up to the balcony From the end of the balcony walk & shimmy around the little ledge to get to the balcony above the throne. Collect items then shimmy around the ledge to get to the balcony above the Gear Room. More spiders attack. Collect the Missing Chain then jump to the chain at the edge of the balcony to get down to ground level THE FORGE 1 Head for the forge room (there are 2 entrances indicated by 2 crossed hammers or the bellows, Note-there will be barricades & spiders as with the Gear Room) SAVE POINT Speak to Bifur QUEST – Light the forge Head forward & to the left to follow a little path indicated by purple gems, around until you find a ladder. Climb up & push the brazier over. This will light the forge Head back down the ladder & go back to the front of the forge. You will find a little cart. Put Key Mould 1 on the cart & turn around. You will see the handle to operate the forge. Pull the handle & go back to the cart to collect Key 1. Repeat this with Key Mould 2 (At the back of the room you will find an area behind the stairs where there are gems to collect there will also be a lots of spiders) Go back to the Main Hall MAIN HALL 2 Head for the Throne at the end of the room up the steps. You will find 2 strange symbols that match the keys, one each side of the throne. Put the keys onto the symbols. Collect the Treasury Key Mould Head back to the Forge THE FORGE 2 Make the treasury key in the forge the same way that you did the Throne keys. Head up stairs in the Forge. You can shimmy across to the side ledges to collect items Ride on the cable car through the Water Room & the Gear Room. Jump off onto the balcony above the Treasury Room TREASURY ROOM Collect items on the balcony SAVE POINT On the edge of the balcony you see 4 supports, 3 of which have chains. Climb along the support that has no chain (mind the cable car it can knock you off). Put the Missing Chain you found onto the end of the support. Climb back to the balcony. Jump to any one of the chains to get to the ground Search the room for items You see a SAVE POINT & one of the dwarves. Speak to him QUEST – Extend the chains to expose the keyhole QUEST – Open the treasury door Jump & grab each of the chains to extend them & this will lower a stone pillar, allowing access to the keyhole. Insert the key & the doors will open Inside there are gems (check behind the doors) & 2 CHESTS plus the Arkenstone DO NOT PICK UP THE ARKENSTONE YET unless you are sure you have finished this level. If you still want to explore to see if you have missed any treasure then leave the Arkenstone where it is & return to collect it later. If you exit the Treasury Room through the door up the steps beware there will be spiders to kill When you wish to exit this level pick up the Arkenstone LEVEL 11 - THE CLOUDS BURST (1 chest missing in this level) Cuts scene – alliances & war In this area there are lots of opportunities to kill enemies & earn courage points – for the most part it is your choice whether you engage infighting o not. Some areas the Goblins will just keep coming & you cannot clear the area at all. I got a bit Gung-ho in this level, which is probably why I missed a chest, but it’s a great chance to go berserk Do not hit barrels in this level – stone them at a distance, as many of them are explosive QUEST – find & warn Bard 2 CHESTS & a SAVE POINT in this area Exit & go over the barricade. Dwarves are pinned down by Goblin fire QUEST – rescue the dwarves Put on the ring & run behind the Goblins. Attack them one by one from behind & they do not even realise it A ladder will drop down. Climb up to the SAVE POINT Drop to the next area where there are 4 Wargs attacking the allies. Assist them to defeat the Wargs Climb up the rocks & head right to collect a CHEST. (Jump over the spike traps to catch the edge of the ledge to get it) Head back the way you came & go to the little wooden bridge. Pole vault across it as it collapses in the middle There is a CHEST on the other side Drop down into the next area. Follow the path through a fenced area to a SAVE POINT Go up the steps CATAPULT A cut scene shows the catapult being fired by a Goblin QUEST – take control of the catapult Put on the ring & run through the fighting go as far as you can (there are fences in the way. (Little alcove to left with gems in). You need to wait or to encourage the catapult operator to bomb the fences. When you manage to get through the fences you will see a way up to the catapult Put the ring on & climb up, run up behind the operator & kill him. Operate the catapult yourself a few times to clear a way forward & blow up some Goblins. Before you head off check out a hidden pathway behind the catapult to find loads of mushrooms & a cowardly Goblin Head down from the catapult & carry on to the next area to a SAVE POINT As you continue you will see Corwin crying out for help. Help him kill the Goblins & a way will open up ahead. Climb over & Corwin will cover you as you make your way through the next area. At the end climb the rope & follow the path. You will find Bard in the next area. Deliver your message (I have a funny feeling the missing CHEST may be around this area somewhere) Head over the bridge & pole vault to the purple gems to the right, follow the trail & drop back down into the area where you encountered Corwin A wall blows up nearby & Gandalf appears. Your original route is now blocked, Lianna can help you Quest – Find Lianna Carry on into an area with lots of Goblins. Put on the ring & search the ruins for treasure. Then head to the SAVE POINT & up the rocks where you can stone the Goblins if you wish Over into the next area to another SAVE POINT & up the steps LIANNA’S HELP Cut scene – Lianna fighting She shows Bilbo the route he needs to take which means destroying a large wall QUEST – Knock down wall Run forward to a ladder with gems on it. Climb up it. Explore all the way around (there will be 3 Goblins up here but if you time it right you can explode one of them!) Throw rocks at the barrels to demolish the fences. Climb up the ladders to jump over into the penned off areas & you will find the Ladder Switch Lever Return to the fight area & run over to the ladder opposite. Climb up. At the top you can collect some exploding rocks. Throw them at the Goblins fighting Lianna I stood here for ages doing this, occasionally going down to collect some gems, building up by health bubbles until I reached maximum. You will not ever defeat all the Goblins – they just keep coming but Lianna can handle it! Behind the catapult is a panel for the lever that you found. Insert it & a ladder drops down. Climb the ladder & push the barrel. Watch what happens QUEST – Find Beorn (the bear) BEORN Back down the ladders head past the catapult through the area where the wall used to be & head towards the lake Pole vault across the islands where there are Goblin bombers, you will also be bombarded with exploding barrels from somewhere Across the other side you find Beorn QUEST – help Beorn Follow Beorn, climb the chain up to the SAVE POINT Carry on down the gem trail QUEST – lower the bridge for Beorn Just to the right of the bridge jump to the ledges & to the island. Then over to the other side of the water. Follow the gems down over the other side & pole vault across the water to the narrow ledge Follow the ledge all the way around until you can jump up to a chain. Climb to the top of the chain to find the last CHEST in this level. Stone the Goblins below. Then climb down the chain to jump to the ground. Cut scene – showing the crank handle Throw a rock from a safe distance at the exploding barrel. This releases the handle & the bridge drops Follow the gems to the SAVE POINT Continue along the path SAVING BEORN Cut scene – Beorn has been captured. You are shown the layout of the area QUEST -You are on a timer to save Beorn’s life The object is to push 4 barrels over various ledges to set in motion actions that will save Beorn 1st Barrel Drop down into the area & head left where you see sliding steps. Keeping to the left of each step as you jump up you can get to the top & head left, Pole vault to the next ledge & push the barrel 2nd Barrel After the cut scene run down the slope after the barrel & jump off the end, left & up the sliding steps again, this time head right & jump over the fence. Ignore the Goblin & run around him to the next barrel 3rd Barrel After the cut scene turn around & follow the purple gem trail to a death slide, jump on the chain to ride over the area. Jump off the other end & run along the little gangway jumping the traps as you go. Push the barrel at the end 4th Barrel After the cut scene jump to the chain to your left, climb up & jump up the ledges & around to the last barrel. Push it. You have saved Beorn & the whole of Middle Earth!
