<===========================================> TOKYO EXTREME RACER ZERO a.k.a. TOKYO HIGHWAY BATTLE 2 or SHUTOKOU BATTLE 2 BY JD__SaN email saikou_anime@yahoo.com http://members.xoom.com/saikou_anime VER: 1.0 -created JULY 14, 2001- <===========================================> ::INSIDE YOU'LL FIND:: -WHATS TOKYO EXTREME RACER ZERO? -BASICS -ADVANCED STUFF -DRIVING MAP -THINGS TO GET STARTED IN THE GAME -RIVALS -13 DEVILS -12 ZODIAC -WANDERERS -#400 CAR -THOUGHTS -TIPS -QUESTIONS <===========================================> ::WHATS TOKYO EXTREME RACER ZERO?:: Ever drove on the streets at night, and saw cool cars just race at high speeds? Tokyo Extreme racer is a 1 on 1 type of racing game unlike your typical racing game which includes race tracks and laps for each race track. Tokyo 0, 1, or 2 (people ABEVEATE this game as that because the name is too long to say) has it's own unique system in which when you race you'll "BATTLE" it off to see either who's the fastest car or who has the best skills in being in front of the enemy. <===========================================> ::BASICS:: If you're a fan of the big hit GT aka Gran Turismo 1, 2, or 3 then playing the game is pretty simple. 1) First of all just like GT 1, 2, or 3 turning, braking, and accelerating for FF, FR, RR, 4WD cars also apply to TOKYO. 2) Purchasing TUNE-UPs are just like GT but with a twist. The first TOKYO is just like GT where certain tune-ups MUST be purchased in order to get the next tune-up. In TOKYO 0 all you have to do is purchase the most powerful tune-up w/out hassle of purchasing stages of the tune-up. 3) MONEY can be obtained in any race with a loss or win. Racing important cars, wanderers, devils, and zodiac will result in more money. 4) The CARs in this game are all JAPANESE. All cars are serperated in 3 classes: A CLASS, B CLASS, and C CLASS. You might find some, but very little amount of EURO and US cars. 5) YOUR RACER NAME or B.A.D NAME. Depending in how many races won, lost, tied, how much cash you have, and your top speed will have the RACERS on TOKYO 0 catagorize you. 6) YOUR MAP while you race contains 3 color TRIANGLE LOCATORS: BLUE, GREEN, and PINK BLUE are cars you have not raced and they are anxous to race against you ^__^. GREEN are cars you've raced and still can race against if you need a lot more cash. PINK are cars that you've lost against. Race them again and turn that COLOR into GREEN!! 7) DRIVING in "TOKYO" is pretty simple and is just like TOKYO 2 and 1. Pay attention to markings telling you to turn and to go to. In TOKYO 0/2 they started a new concept to where you can take different routes while you race. It'll be borring in the beginning, but when you unlock more routes as you go on racing will be brought to another level. <===========================================> ::ADVANCED STUFF:: When you played any of the TOKYOs or the GTs then some of the advanced stuff you should know are TUNING YOU CAR and not using AUTOMATIC for when racing. 1) Gear Ratios - everyone hates doing gear ratios because of loss of top speed, loss of acceleration, and other such problems. Tweaking Gear Ratios at the right point can give you the greater edge against the RACERs in TOKYO 0. 2) SHIFTING - it's always better than automatic. Why? Because in automatic you don't get that RED LINE of top speed in the beginning when you UP-SHIFT. DOWN-SHIFTING helps more than BRAKING IN AUTOMATIC MODE. When DOWN SHIFTING you'll drasticly speed down so you can either drift or hit turns easier. BRAKING while DOWNSHIFTING is of course USEFUL too. 3) Know what you buy as of a car. Later in the game when you do reach the 7,000,000 dollar mark (don't worry it's not like 10,000 races I did). Cars that you buy make a difference between HP and WEIGHT. Some cars are heavier than others and maybe some of them have a very high HP to move em. Some cars are lighter and they usually have a lower HP. I notice that a lighter car with high HP can beat a car thats HEAVY with MORE HP. Its kinda weird but true. The lighter you are the higher you fly or something like that. You notice that some of the cars in TOKYO 0 have ENGINEs that are differnt in CCs. Like the RX-7s for example, they have engines that are like 708x2 or x4. Im not sure if they're either bigger engines as of like an ENGINE BLOCK or if they're weaker engines. <===========================================> ::DRIVING MAP:: This map has expanded since the first TOKYO that was released for the DC system. There are three parts of the map here described below: 1) The first part of the map consists of the Kanjo Inner and Outer roads. Here in Kanjo we meet a lot of turns and not much straight aways. Kanjo is a perfect place to race because of all the cuts you can do as well as med traffic. 2) The second part of the map will then consist of Shinjako Inner (CW) and Outer roads (CCW). Shinjako is a bit more difficult than Kanjo because of the med length straight aways and minimal ammount of turns. 3) The final part of the map is Wangan and Yokohane, North and South Bound. This is the FULL STRAIGHT AWAY ROAD and only the fastest with top speeds can survive this terrain. --Note in order to unlock each part of the map you must def the DEVILS (first part of game) in each AREA and ROAD way. <===========================================> ::THINGS TO GET STARTED IN THE GAME:: Starting any TOKYO game or GT game can be a pain in the ass. As you know you probably started TOKYO 0 with at least 15,000 in hand. With this much money you can buy any car in any class but not the most expensive car in any class. I started with a MITSUBISHI LAMCER III or IV in the A CLASS selection that was around 14,000. If you wanted to and, I might since I'm almost done with this game, you could start off with a GOOD CLASS B or CLASS C for a better challenge. My LANCER or maybe yours is a 4WD which is superb in handling turns and acceleration. Don't start off the game too fast though because I did. Speeding up the game can result in finding wanderers, a lot of them, later in the final parts of the game. It's a good thing to race the GREEN markers again and again for some extra money. This lancer will do you good for at least when you get enough money to purchase a NISSAN SKYLINE R34-TYPE R which is 57,000. <===========================================> ::RIVALS:: -still yet to talk about <===========================================> :13DEVILS:: -still yet to talk about <===========================================> ::12ZODIAC:: -still yet to talk about <===========================================> ::WANDERERS:: I bet that most of the people who are towards the end of this game have a big problem with wanderers. Finding wanderers are pretty easy as you might see a pattern when you wanna race. Wanderers are usually located at the end of their route. For example If a certain wander is located in Wangan North, find on the map the Wangan North in which is ending or merging into a new road. As for me I'm still figureing it out since i have about 18 left to go. The 7,000,000 that you proably won made you think what you were gonna do with all that money. Well heres your chance to use it all! All that money could go towards the ammount of cars you might get to try and see which wanderer will go against you. Here's my theory in which might able to help you to race those pesky WANDERERS who never wanna race you: 1) Use a stock car. usually a wanderer might wanna race you with a stock car. 2) Use the car that the wanderer is using. For about 3-4 of em I found that using the same car against them works. 3) Trial and Error. Save your game, pick a new car, tune it up, find a wanderer and see if they highbeam you. If they don't reload your quest and repeat the process. <===========================================> ::#400th CAR:: -still yet to talk about <===========================================> ::THOUGHTS:: This game blew me away the first time when I played it on the DC. Patienly I wanted to see if it would ever reach SONY's platform and it did. Although I don't play GT as much as I did in the beginning it's still a good game since GT was very similar to the first TOKYO on PSX but with just better grapics. They can make a 3rd one soon I hope and this time I should agree with Wolf Feather/Jamie Stafford because they should add more traffic! <===========================================> ::TIPS:: -When racing always use your BRAKE BUTTON! hitting walls DECREASE YOUR MPH BIG TIME and can make you loose important races! -Look ahead! Always look ahead when you race! In doing so you can decrease the ammount of hits to cars and trucks and road splits to other road destinations. -SHIFT SOME WHAT FAST. Neverred line if you have to. Sometimes people who aren't well adapted to shifting dwell on a red line and forget to shift! Shifting faster accelerates your speed a lot so, get to that 5/6th gear pronto! I usually shift at least 1 RPM before redlining. EX: REVED to 7RPMS... shift by 8RPMs. -SHARP TURNS can be easily excecuted by DRIFTING. Drifting takes a while to learn but can only be done with a clean sweep at speeds around 185 - 235MPH. I still have not yet drifted with FF, and FRs yet. 4WD and RR(the only RRs are the PORSCHE 930s) can easily drift the best. -Making a good gear ratio. The way I make my gear ratios superb is to just make your 1st some what HIGH but LOW, 2nd will be higher, and so on till the 4th gear. 5th will go down as well as the 6th gear. The final gear should be at the same place where 5th would be. heres an example: 1st ----------X-------- 2nd -----------X------- 3rd --------------X---- 4th ----------------X-- 5th -------------X----- 6th -----------X------- FINAL ------------X------ -Turbo could be as high as you want for good acceleration but ou wont get a great top speed. My turbo is juuust a lil bit near high so I can still maintain a good HP while still having a good TOP SpeeD in MPH TURBO ----------------X-- -If youre in the lead TAKE ADVANTAGE! Always think smart and never wait for your opponent. Once youre gone, youre gone! If your oppnent really can hang with you then do this lil trick: -If your opponent is just right behind you bumper to bumper simply tap the brake and accelerate. It's a dirty move but effective against higher HP cars against slower HP cars. this is BLOCKING OFF THE CAR. -Different road MERGING. Those you must take advantage of because opponents can give you an easy win. Opponents will kind of loose themself as you take a different route other than the one that they usually take. -Practice TIME ATTACK. It'll help you to master certain tracks. <===========================================> ::QUESTIONS:: If you have any questions please let me know. My email is saikou_anime@yahoo.com.
