The original game had its share of flaws, most of which came from its two-disc-for-one-game system that annoyed wrestling? fans all about, and it's dull, repetitive and robotic gameplay. Thankfully, Spike listens to their fans and their follow-up is an impressive step up. KoC2 is perhaps the most "complete" of any puro wrestling game to date. It's got four of Japan's largest federations NJPW, AJPW, NOAH and Zero-1 all tucked nicely into one cd (none of that split roster cd debacle of the previous game!). It has a great deal more content that it's predecessor as well; tons more game modes, lots more moves and animations, an on-screen referee, a ton of secret stuff to unlock... there's really a lot of content that can keep you very busy here. Spike has also improved the engine somewhat. There are a lot more minor changes in the engine that makes for a smoother feel overall, though it still retains some of its clunkiness of the original KoC; but that is really an inherent problem with the engine, and only a full engine overhaul can fix something like that. The computer AI has also been given a drastic boost; he's now fairly unpredictable and surprisingly hard to counter out of no matter how good your clutch timing is (quite unlike the previous game, where once you master the clutch timing the game had essentially zero challenge). The addition of an audience ranking at the end of every match is also a nice touch, and really gives you incentive to put on a good match. This FAQ is generally a translation and movelist meant for players who have little Japanese-reading skill. Note that I have no Japanese reading skills whatsoever; most of my translations come from general puroresu knowledge and intelligent guesswork. Should you spot anything I've mis-translated or missed completely, feel free to e-mail me. I may not answer all my e-mails, but I do read them all. All right then, on with the FAQ! __________________________________________________________________________ | _____________________________________________________| \_B._BASIC_CONTROLS_/ The following are basic button controls you'll want to get the hang of when playing this game. -=Fighting Controls=- Dir. There's little change from the original game, so KoC Veterans can skip this section if they want. -=Strikes=- Basic striking maneuvers are done by pressing the Attack Buttons, and will vary according to the opponent's position. Normal standing has up to eight types of strikes - [], ><, (), []+>< without pressing any direction keys, and the same buttons together with direction keys. The two-button attacks are called Powerball Attacks - see the relevant section below for more info on these destructive moves. Not every wrestler has powerball strikes however. Enemy positions that can produce different strikes include standing, on one knee, on all fours and corner. -=Running Attacks=- To perform running attacks, run (with /\) and press an attack button. Against standing opponents there's two different sets of four attacks ([], ><, () or []><) - one when you run directly at him, and another when you run at him after rebounding from the ropes. The second type generally produces stronger attacks. Other sets of running strikes include running towards an opponent on the ground, on one knee or in the corner. For the in the corner version, just stand a short distance away and hold down the respective attack button and your wrestler will automatically run at the opponent and perform the move. -=The Clutch System=- The game's main grapple system is the clutch system. To initiate a clutch, hold down R1 then press either [], ><, (), /\, []+>< or /\+(). That's six clutch types when you grab an opponent from the front. You'll have another six if you grab from the back. However, not all wrestlers have different clutches in every slot, if at all. After initiating a clutch, hit one of the following at the right timing :- [], ><, (), /\, R1, []+>< (Powerball) or /\+() (Powerball) to perform the actual move. Different clutch types all have different timings to them, and button mashing won't work. It's quite a challenge for a beginner to master the clutch timings, but it'll come naturally after a while. Practice with 1P vs. 2P until you get the moves to come out smoothly. And finally, remember the basic rule of wrestling :- start off with weak attacks, then move on to stronger attacks! If you try strong maneuvers early in the match, they will be automatically countered. -=Hammer Throw=- To toss an opponent, first clutch him with R1+/\, then press R1. This is the only way to hammer throw; if you're editing someone's movelist don't substitute this move with something else or you'll regret it. To hammer throw in a specific direction, hold the pad or left analog stick in that direction while pressing R1. When your back is right at the ropes, hold the direction keys in the direction of the rope while performing a hammer throw to chuck your opponent to the apron, which will allow you to hit apron grapples (more on that below). To chuck your opponent out of the ring, be somewhere in the center of the ring, then clutch with R1+/\, then press and hold down R1. Your back needs to be facing the ropes, not the corner, also, do not press any direction buttons. In the case you are the one getting hammer thrown, you can hold down the opposite direction and tap /\ rapidly as you hit the ropes to hang on to it; this does require some timing and stamina. -=Target Change=- This game features a targeting system of sorts, in which you will lock on to one wrestler and base all your attacks on him. The only way to switch to another wrestler is to press L2. Or get attacked by him. It's a little cumbersome I know, not a very good system, but it's not too annoying since there's only two (or three in Battle Royal) targets to swap with most of the time anyway. -=Powerball System=- We've talked a little bit about powerballs in the previous sections, but lets elaborate a little bit. Each wrestler has 1-4 "Powerballs" at the start of the match (you'll see them below your character name). Weaker wrestlers have less starting powerballs. Powerballs are used to perform very powerful moves; therefore you are given a limit to use wisely. All of them are available at the start and they do not gain during the match. From what I notice, moves set as powerball moves (i.e. set to the []+>< or /\+() button presses) do much more damage and are easier to connect with (though they still can be countered if done too early). Powerball submissions make the opponent tap easier and restricts their movement so unless they're very fresh they're not going to reach for the ropes. There are many moves in the game that are "Powerball Only" meaning they aren't meant for normal usage. -=Headlock & Full Nelson Hold=- If you've played Fire Pro Wrestling, you'll know a wrestler in the game can put their opponents in a headlock (tuck their heads under his arm and drag him around). Well, it's possible in this game as well. Put him in an R1+/\ clutch then press R2 to get him into a headlock. Now you can drag him anywhere you want. Press any attack button to elbow or knee him once you have re-positioned him. When you back clutch him with R1+/\ and then press R2 you will put him in a full nelson hold (you basically hold both his hands behind him, leaving his chest fully exposed). This is mostly for tag matches so your partner can sock him one while you prevent him from guarding. -=Defending and Counters=- When you see a strike coming at you, you can press R2 to swipe away, dodge or block the attack. When you hold down R2 you're in permanent block mode, meaning no strikes can harm you. Of course, you're totally vulnerable to getting grappled. If you press R2 right as the blow lands, you can occasionally counter into a variety of attacks. For punches, pressing R2 or Dir+R2 at the right time allows you to counter in two different ways. For kicks, you can catch a kick by pressing R2 just as it lands, and this goes to the dragon screw clutch. Against grapples, your only chance is to reverse the move. To successfully reverse, watch your opponent grapple - the moment he is supposed to enter the attack button you must press either [], >< or () for up to three different counter types. How successful you are depends on how injured you are and how good your timing is. -=Ground Attacks=- To perform a ground attack, have your opponent on the ground then press [], ><, () or []+>< (Powerball). Again, this is usually in order of increasing strength. Note that there are six sets of maneuvers you can perform depending on whether your opponent is face up or down on the mat, and your position to him. The six are :- 1) Opponent face up, you near his head 2) Opponent face up, you by his side 3) Opponent face up, you near his feet 4) Opponent face down, you near his head 5) Opponent face down, you by his side 6) Opponent face down, you near his feet There are also three running strikes to a grounded opponent. The "By the Side" grapples are also where pins are located (usually mapped to the () button). If you're editing a movelist, don't accidentally replace it with another move, or you're not going to get anywhere in a wrestling match. -=Other Ground Maneuvers=- Pressing /\ near a grounded opponent lets you drag him around, handy for setting up aerial attacks. When at his sides, if you press R1+/\ you can flip him over. To pick up an opponent, just press R1+/\ near his feet or head. You can also pick him up automatically into a grapple by going near his head when he's face up and press R1+[] or R1+() or R1+>< or R1+[]+>< or R1+/\+(). The type of clutch you'll go to varies; it will enter the clutch of the same button, but whether it's the front or back clutch depends on what is set in the movelist. -=Player On The Ground=- When you are the one lying flat on the mat, there are a few options available to you as well. To roll about in the ring, once you're down hold the [] button then press in the direction you want to roll towards. You can roll right out of the ring if you want. To crouch down as you are getting up and temporarily avoid being grappled or attacked, hold down the >< button while you're still on the ground. If you get pinned, tap any attack button rapidly to kick out. -=Cornered=- When your opponent gets cornered, you've got a fair bit of options for punishment. There are the corner strikes and running corner strikes discussed earlier, and then there's the corner grapple. Go right near him and press R1+[] or R1+>< or R1+() or R1+[]+>< (Powerball) for corner grapples of increasing strength. If you press R1+/\ you'll hook him up in the tree-of-woe setup. Give him another blow to knock him down. For a certain few wrestlers (Naomichi Marufuji is the only one I noticed having it, actually), when their opponent is in the tree-of-woe, go to the very next turnbuckle, climb out to the apron and press []>< (uses a powerball) for an incredible corner-to-corner dropkick. -=Aerial Attacks=- There are two different types of aerial attacks in this game - top rope and climbing. The top rope ones are those that require you to be perched on the top of the corner rope; to get up there stand next to the corner rope, hold down the direction towards it then press /\. The speed at which you climb depends on your wrestler; some wrestlers can't even climb at all. Certain Lightweight wrestlers can even run up; do the same button press, but be a good distance away. Once you're up there, press [], ><, () or []+>< (Powerball) to perform your move. Whether it connects or not depends on what move is set and the position of your opponent; you'd best be familiar with your wrestler's aerial arsenal lest you do something embarrassing like dropkicking air while your opponent is flat on the ground. Press the pad down at the top rope to climb back down without doing anything. The second type of aerial attack is the climbing maneuvers; these do not require your wrestler to be perched on the top rope. Simply press in the direction to the corner together with [], ><, () or []+>< (Powerball). Note that some aerial maneuvers need your opponent to be lying at the right position and orientation or else they won't work. -=Tapping Out=- Yes, in KoC2 you can now manually tap out of submissions! To do so press and hold all four shoulder buttons for a little while, then you'll tap like a sissy. -=Exit/Enter the Ring=- To get out of the ring, just press and hold down the direction to the outside + /\ while near the ropes. To get back into the ring hold towards the ring and press and hold down /\. If you lightly tap the /\ button rather than holding it down you'll climb onto the apron instead. You can also run in and out of the ring by running towards the rope while holding R1. -=Attack Outside Opponent=- Even when your opponent is out of the ring taking a breather doesn't mean you should let him. There's two ways to attack him from inside of the ring - slingshot to the outside or running attacks to the outside. To slingshot out, simply go near the ropes and hold towards the outside then press [] or >< or () or []>< (Powerball) to chuck yourself to the outside. Running Attacks to the outside is a little harder, because you need to run towards the ropes, and at the right distance, press either [] or >< or () or []>< (Powerball). However, I've found a much easier method - first run towards the opposite ropes, then as you're rebounding, press and hold down the respective attack button. Your wrestler will then automatically perform the move when he reaches the right distance. -=Apron Side=- Apron Side maneuvers are much easier to do in this incarnation of KoC. To perform an apron side grapple, first chuck your opponent onto the apron (see the section "Hammer Throw" above). After that, when he gets up, grapple him with any clutch (they all have the same result) then press any attack button. To perform slingshot moves (your wrestler, on the apron, uses the ropes to slingshot back in), get out of the apron yourself then press the attack buttons [],><,() or []+>< (Powerball) and the direction towards the center of the ring. When you are on the apron and you see an opponent outside, press towards him and /\ to run at him then press [],><,() or []+>< (Powerball) to leap off the apron and land onto him. -=Tag Team=- During tag team matches, to tag out simply go to your partner and press L1. To call your partner out, press the Select Button; this can only be used once couple of minutes or so. To perform double team attacks, have your partner and you stand in front or behind your chosen target and press [] simultaneously. It takes a while to get it right, but I noticed that if the opponent is dizzy, your partner will usually go behind him and try to initiate a back double team. When he's not dizzy, your partner will head to the front to try for a front double team instead. And finally an easy corner double team is to whip your opponent to your corner and then press []+>< - yes, all corner double teams require a powerball, but they do look the most painful of all double-teams. -=Regaining Powerballs=- In the previous installment, in order to regain a powerball a wrestler needed to have a certain skill in his skill package. But now in KoC2, anybody can regain a powerball, but only once in a match. First, you must be all out of powerballs before you can regain one. You must then:- 1) Kick out of any move at 2.9 when you're almost out of energy and taunt within 30 seconds. 2) Fight out of a powerball submission when you have very little power left and taunt within 30 seconds. 3) Kick out of any powerball move ending in a pin and taunt within 30 seconds. 4) Catch and reverse a powerball strike and taunt within 30 seconds. That's 30 seconds game time, not actual time, by the way. Thanks to BigManZam for pointing out the update at Spike's website that contained this bit of info. -=Match Rules=- If you play 1 on 1 in Exhibition, the Match Rules option becomes available. These are the match types available :- Puroresu - This is basic wrestling rules - rope breaks, pin or make your opponent submit to win. If you're a wrestling fan you should know what this is all this about. Vale Tudo - In this rule set you can only defeat your opponent by KO or submission only. You cannot get out of the ring, hence whipping an opponent outside or to the apron does not work. Each match is broken into rounds, but you can freely set how many rounds (all the way to infinite) and how long each round is. Ultimate Crush - NJPW's variation of the shoot-style rules. Matches are broken into three five-minute rounds. During this time you must defeat your opponent by KO or submission only. U-Style - UWF rules set. Match time is set permanently to 15 minutes, and is not broken into rounds. It follows the shoot style rules, with the exception of the new TKO rule. There will be a counter (at the bottom of the screen) that starts at zero, and each prolonged knock down will add one to it. When it reaches five you will lose by TKO. You can shorten / handicap the match by increasing the counter on either side. American - Similar to Fire Pro's American Style rules; it follows the Puroresu rule set, but all wrestlers can power up by taunting (has the "Superstar" trait) and finishers do much more damage (has the "One-hit Finisher" trait) meaning matches will be much shorter, but more... uh... flashier MUGA - Not sure... like the American Style rule, but with wrestlers having hardcore traits Free - You can mix and match the various rule sets above to create your own type of match -=Shoot Fighting=- Shoot fighting rules are a little different from wrestling in that you must KO (or TKO) or make your opponent tap to win the match. Shoot matches have their own series of clutches called mounts. There are a number of mounts that give your fighter different sets of moves : - 1) Guard Mount - Op. on his back, you mount on his feet 2) Full Mount - Op. on his back, you sit on his chest 3) Back Mount - Op. on all fours, you behind him 4) Clutch Mount - Op. on all fours, you clutch in front of him Shoot fighters also have special submissions I call Instant Submissions. These are lethal submissions that are only available when you are in one of the mount positions (or an opponent is mounting you, and you counter). These submissions cannot be locked on until your opponent is very weak, but when you do lock them on its an instant tap out for your opponent! You will hear a satisfying bone crack when you successfully lock one of these babies on. -=Audience Ranking Tips and Tricks=- New to KoC2 is the Audience Ranking. It will appear in percentage at the end of every match, and it's basically how much your crowd appreciates the match you just had. It's particularly important in Survival Road, since your audience ranking determines what is rewarded in that mode. However, in the other modes its really for personal satisfaction of having put on a good match. If you're a wrestling fan you should know what it takes to put on a good match, but if not, here are some pointers: - - Crowds HATE one-sided beatings. If you want good ranking you MUST let your opponent beat you silly. In fact, the closer you both are in terms of stamina at the end of the match, the better. - Variety is the spice of life, and the stuff of audience rankings too. Don't keep doing the same move or clutch, vary your attacks as much as possible. Move your wrestler around the ring, to the corners, outside of the ring, anywhere that produces different types of attacks. - The longer the match the better, as long as it's not one-sided or lacking in variety. Anything upwards of 20 game minutes make for good rankings. Of course, for both wrestlers to last that long they'll need a huge amount of stamina, which is why top-tier guys have more chances of getting highly-rated matches. - Follow grappling strength rules; start off with weak strikes and grapples, then progressively move up from there. - Fight to your wrestler's fighting style. A technical wrestler should go for lots of pins and submissions, a junior heavy should go for tons of aerial maneuvers, hardcore types should go for blood and weapons. - Lots of pin falls, the crowds eat this stuff up. 2.999 kickouts are a particular favorite; try to fix a few of these near the end of a match. Remember that you can manually un-pin an opponent with ><. You can also time yourself to kick out at 2.999 though it's a little risky. - There's an option called Crowd Favor in match rules; here you can set your crowd to skew towards a certain fed or a certain fighting style. For instance, don't accidentally set it as a shoot-fighting fan crowd and then put on a wrestling match, because you'll end up with absolutely laughable ratings. If anyone's got any more sure-fire tips to get high rankings, I'd like to hear about it. __________________________________________________________________________ | ___________________________________________| \_D._MODE_INDEX_&_BASIC_MENUS_/ Here is the entire list of modes as they appear in the main menu. To exit EDIT WRESTLER COPY press Start. When you load or save, you'll see three options - first lets you load/save everything, second is to load/save only game data (every other setting other than edit mode settings) and the third is to load/save only edit mode data. -=PAUSE MENU=- This menu appears when you pause the game mid-match. The options available here are: - - Resume - Dynamic Camera (On/Off) - On/Off camera shifts during certain moves - Camera View (1/2) - 1 is even, 2 is slightly elevated - Quit Match Note: Thanks to PWMonthly for pointing this out, but if you go to the pause menu of a COM vs. COM match (without COM Cut) in the camera view option you get a whopping 22 camera views from practically every possible angle around the ring! __________________________________________________________________________ | _____________________________________________________| \_E.EXHIBITON_MATCH_/ Probably where you'll spend tons of time in, this where you set up a basic exhibition match and battle away to your hearts content. The amount of matches you can pick has gone up from KoC, but not by much: - 1) Single Match 2) Single Match (Second) 3) Tag Match 4) Handicap Match 5) Triple Threat Match 6) Battle Royal 7) Elimination Match -=Single Match=- A basic one-on-one match. The match will differ drastically depending on which Rule Set you select. -=Single Match (Second)=- Like a single match, but each side can bring one "Second" or manager down to the ring with them. These guys will stay put in their corner until your opponent gets near them, at which time they will sneak in a few cheap shots. -=Tag Match=- A basic two-on-two match. Tag out with L1 and press Select to call out your partner for a tandem beat down. Beat the stuffing out of the other pair. Easy enough. -=Handicap Match=- If you're really feeling a little suicidal (or very cruel) you can try this option, where you'll set up a two-on-one beat down. You can be either the unlucky lone guy or the pair doing the beat down; either way it isn't really fun. -=Triple Threat=- A three-way dance, where the first pin or submission determines the winner. It's awfully hectic since there's always one other guy around trying to break up your pins and submissions. -=Battle Royal=- Four wrestlers get into the ring, and will proceed to eliminate each other until there's only one surviving. While this type of match isn't done very often in Japan, it's still rather fun. -=Elimination Match=- In a 5x5 Elimination match, two teams consisting of 5 men each will have their members take turns fighting each other. When you first enter, there will be three options, detailing the three types of elimination matches. The first one is "basic elimination"; in this mode, the wrestler that eliminates his opponent stays to fight the next member of the opposition team. The second type is the "most wins" version. Here the first wrestler fights the first wrestler from the opposing team, second fights second, third fights third and so on. The team that amasses the most wins is the victor. The third type is same as the "most wins" type, but the order of your opponent is randomized, so you can't pick and match your opponents. Next is the SELECT TEAM menu. Pressing /\ gives you a random team. Select a team with the () button, then you can highlight each member and press left or right to change their costumes (and move sets). Then press () again to pick that team. You can also create your own team by pressing START, picking your five members, then name your team. You can create and save up to ten original teams. Once both teams are selected, you can do your match settings and switch your team order before the battles begin. -=Match Settings=- Once you pick your mode and your players (up to four players may participate if you have a multitap handy) you'll come to the match options menu. Depending on which match type you select, some rules will change or be disabled. They will further change if you set different match rules, so it's a little difficult to get the match rules right. Once you've set all your match options, choose START MATCH to get it on! __________________________________________________________________________ | ______________________________________________________| \_F._SURVIVAL_ROAD_/ Survival Road is the KoC2 follow up to KoC1's Trial Road. It's somewhat more simplified that it's predecessor; all you do is fight a ton of opponents with a wrestler and partner of choice, earn points and use those points in a secret shop to buy stuff. You'll start off the Survival Road Menu with three options. The first option lets you start a new Survival Road, the second lets you continue a previously incomplete Survival Road, and the third goes to the secret shop (see below). When you highlight the first option you'll see four items on the right; they indicate, from top to bottom, your previous match's ranking, your best match ranking, the number of matches you've fought in Survival Road, and the percentage of Survival Road you have completed (I think). So what you waiting for? Select the first option to start Survival Road. You'll get to pick from Single or Tag Survival Road. If you choose Single you can also choose whether to have a "Second" or manager who will follow you around. Then you'll select different Survival Roads - NJPW, NOAH, AJPW, ZERO-ONE, or WJ. Take your pick. Two more, MMA and LEGENDS, can be unlocked by buying them in the Secret Shop once they appear there. Then you'll select your difficulty. There will be currently three options, EASY, NORMAL or HARD. There are two more difficulty settings SUPER HARD and MASTER, but again they must be bought from the Secret Shop. Once you've selected your difficulty, you're all set to start Survival Road!!! -=Survival Road=- After the brief intro, you'll get into the main menu. There will be three options here. The first lets you proceed to your next match, the second sends you to the Secret Shop to buy stuff, and the third is to save and exit. Pressing R1 scrolls between your character portrait, your current score and your next opponent. Go ahead and start the match. You'll be allowed to switch costumes of you and your partner/second. Then you'll get to adjust match settings... well, some of it anyway. Change whatever you want and start the match! After your match, you'll earn points based on your audience ranking and difficulty. That's all there is to Survival Road. Different opponents appear depending on which road you are playing in, even wrestlers not from the game's default roster will appear at times! Each Survival Road ends after about 5-10 matches or so. Note that you cannot finish Survival Road if you select the EASY difficulty; the game will end after three matches with a Game Over screen instead of credits. -=Secret Shop=- All your hard earned points are spent here. Each item and its price in points are listed so you know exactly what you'll be getting. However, each item at the shop needs to be unlocked before you even think of buying them, and they are unlocked as you finish the different Survival Roads at different difficulty levels. There are four parts to the shop; EXISTING WRESTLERS, WRESTLER SAMPLES, KAKUTOGI SAMPLES and ETC. Here I've listed each item in the shop, complete with the secret number, the points required to purchase said secret, and what that secret really is (special thanks go out to chuchu33 for filling up most of these): - A. That's right, in this mode you decide the matches! While it's not anywhere near as detailed as Fire Pro's Management of the Ring, this mode has its charms. Upon picking Match Maker Mode, you'll hit the first menu, where you will select which Fed to Match Make - NJPW, NOAH, AJPW, ZERO-1 or WJ. You'll get different rosters for each fed as well as and different mentors: - NJPW has Chono, NOAH has Misawa, AJPW has Mutoh, Zero-1 has Hashimoto, and WJ has some old geezer. If you press /\, you'll see a ranking of the best Shows booked in terms of Attendance and Average Match Ratings. Upon picking a Fed, you'll chat with your respective mentor, and then you can start playing around your little office for a bit. The menu is the same for every fed: - START SHOW BOOK CARD INFORMATION RANKING ADVICE SAVE / EXIT At the top is the name of the show you are about to book (which mostly consist of really bad Engrish). There's a green box at the bottom right which you should pay attention to; this is the show's target in terms of Attendance Numbers (top number) and the Average Ranking Percentage (the second number). Lets explain the menus from bottom up (since the first option is the option you'll end up picking last anyway). -=SAVE / EXIT=- Lets you SAVE (first option) or EXIT (second option). Easy enough. -=ADVICE=- Selecting this opens up three options: - ????? ????? ????? Basically your mentor will give you some tips as to how to book your card. -=RANKING=- Two options here: - LAST CARD VIEW RANKING First option lets you view the results of your previous card, and the second lets you view the top ranked shows you have booked thus far. -=INFORMATION=- There's three more options here: - SHOW INFO WRESTLER INFO TITLE INFO WRESTLER INFO lets you check the available roster for your matches. You generally start off with a small weak roster, but as you proceed, your roster improves... but so will your match targets! TITLE INFO is fairly obvious; it shows you who is the current title holder for your fed. Note that titles here do not reflect who is holding the title in TITLE MATCH mode. Changes in title holders here do not change title holders in TITLE MATCH mode. -=BOOK CARD=- Upon selecting this you'll see that same window that appears in SHOW INFO part of the INFORMATION menu. Press () to start booking your card. In the next menu you'll see blank slots for matches; the number of matches may vary depending on the card. Here pressing /\ (and answering YES to the menu that appears) allows you to randomly book matches; but then again that totally defeats the purpose of this mode so skip that. The [] Button deletes a booking, in case you made any booking mistakes. Highlight the top left corner of a match slot and press () to start booking matches proper. Once you select a match to book, you'll first see the MATCH STYLE menu; all the match types you saw in Exhibition Mode is available for booking here except for the 5 on 5 elimination. Pick a whatever match type you want. Then you can select your wrestler and set match options (though a lot of these options are grayed out). To select Title Matches, first select a Title Holder (press [] at the character select to see who has a title to defend) and then the challenger; an option will pop up asking whether you want it to be a title match or not. That's that for booking a match. Repeat the above to fully book your card. IF you highlight the top right corner of the match slot and press () you can swap matches around the card if you wish. You can press SELECT to view your show info again. Once you've finished all your booking, press START to confirm. Note that most shows have certain requirements that must be incorporated into your booking; you cannot continue if you haven't settled those requirements. While it's difficult to tell what these requirements are if you can't read Japanese, you can create a random card (using the /\ button) and try to figure out what these requirements are from these; cards booked using the /\ button always satisfy booking conditions. There, you've booked your very first wrestling card! Easy, right? -=START SHOW=- Not much to say here. Obviously, you can only select this once you've booked your card. In order to get good ratings, you'll should try to play every match you've booked; computer-controlled wrestlers often give you really rubbish matches. When your show starts, press /\ to get to a menu of four options. First lets you start your match, second lets you look at the match conditions, third is to save the game and exit, and fourth exits the mode. Start a match; you can choose to play as any side, and match options can still be altered before the match. Once all the matches are done, you'll get a final results, and your mentor will praise/berate you for your performance. Then you move on to the next show, with tougher booking conditions and even higher targets to achieve. Good luck! __________________________________________________________________________ | ________________________________________________________| \_H._TITLE_MATCH_/ The first menu shows you all your current champions. The titles available, and their default holders are :- NJPW :- IWGP Heavyweight [Vacant] NWF Heavyweight [Vacant] IWGP Tag [Vacant] IWGP Junior Heavyweight [Vacant] IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag [Jado & Gedo] U-30 [Hiroshi Tanahashi] NOAH :- GHC Heavyweight [Kenta Kobashi] GHC Tag [Mitsuharu Misawa & Yoshinari Ogawa] GHC Junior Heavyweight [Yoshinobu Kanemaru] GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag [Naomichi Marufuji & KENTA] AJPW :- Triple Crown Heavyweight [Toshiaki Kawada] AJPW Tag [Yuji Nagata & Kendo Ka-Shin] AJPW Junior Heavyweight [Kaz Hayashi] All Asia Tag [Genichiro Tenryu & Masanobu Fuchi] Zero-One :- NWA World Heavyweight [Vacant] NWA Intercontinental Tag [Vacant] NWA Junior Heavyweight [Tatsuhito Takaiwa] World Japan :- WMG Heavyweight [Vacant] WMG Tag [Vacant] Pick a belt you want to fight or defend for. Next menu you'll have three choices. The bottom-most choice allows you to vacate the title. Second option shows you the title history (and they really mean history... you'll get the entire list of all the champions that had once held that the title, not just in the game! Great for puroresu history lessons). The top option lets you fight for or defend the title. Note that the champion is ALWAYS in the blue corner. You'll then head to the typical Match Options. Set that up and then choose START MATCH to go for it! __________________________________________________________________________ | ________________________________________________________| \_I._SERIES_MODE_/ This mode is where you want to go if you're simulating one of the many special events in Japanese Wrestling. When you first enter, you'll see the SERIES STYLE option. Here you get to choose from: - - League - Tournament For the unfamiliar, a league has you in a block with other wrestlers, and you fight everyone in your block, wins earn you points, and the highest points in a block is the block leader. A tournament on the other hand is a round-robin style elimination. Take your pick. If you have saved a league or tournament prior, a menu will appear asking you to either start a new one (first option) or resume a previous one (second option). You can save up to one league and one tournament. The next menu is the SERIES MODE, in which you can choose from: - - Single - Single w/ Second - Tag Once you've picked the mode of preference then... Afterwards is SERIES TITLE. Here there's a few real life leagues/tournaments available for choosing. The final option, Original, lets you create your own brand of league or tournament. If you pick that you'll get to name your league or tournament. Upon selected the title of your choice, you'll get some more options, and here they diverge a little bit. So... -=League=- If you picked a named league title you'll go straight to the league table to pick your wrestlers. League participants can number anywhere from 2 to 32. Once you've set up the participants, you can then set match rules (see the Exhibition Match section of this FAQ for match rule translations). Note that a lot of these rules will be fixed and cannot be changed again when the league is ongoing. Afterwards you will be brought to the league table. If you press /\ here you'll get four options; Random Match Current Rankings Save Exit Random Match simply picks a random match on the table to start. Current Rankings shows exactly that; current league rankings based on number of points. Save lets you save the league. Exit lets you, well, exit Series Mode (I know... no duh, right?). So what are you waiting for? Start the league and have fun! If you had picked to sim an original league, you have some more options prior to selecting your wrestler entry. First you get three new options. First two I can't tell the difference, they're both normal single table leagues. The third is a split table league, meaning the selected participants are split into two tables, and eventually both table winners will fight each other to determine the overall winner. After you select the type of league, you can name it and your league will begin as it was above. -=Tournament=- If you chose to sim a tournament in the first menu, you get: - - 1 Day Tournament - Series Tournament 1 Day is just that; it's all done in one day. Wrestlers will get little rest between matches, and the further you chug along the tournament, the weaker your wrestler becomes. A Series Tournament lasts over the sim season, so your wrestler is always fresh at the start of every match. choose which one you want, then next you select how many entries: - - 4 Entries - 8 Entries - 16 Entries - 32 Entries If you picked an original tournament you can name it here. Otherwise you will go to the Wrestler Entry menu to enter your participants. Additional buttons here have the following effects: - [] deletes the name from the bracket and /\ randomizes the tournament entries. Once you've selected your participants, press START. You'll get the typical YES/NO menu - YES proceeds, NO goes back. Another YES/NO will appear if you proceed, and this one is asking whether you want to manually shuffle the names. YES allows you to shuffles names about, and NO begins the tournament. After shuffling you can press START to get back to the second YES/NO menu. Select NO this time brings you to set the match options. Like the league, once you set these options, most of them cannot be changed in the midst of the tournament. Now the tournament starts. In between you can press /\ to open up a menu with three options; first option is to go straight to the next match, second option is to save, and third is to exit. So what you waiting for? Lets start your tournament! __________________________________________________________________________ | ___________________________________________| \_J._EDIT_-_ORIGINAL_WRESTLER_/ This is the true meat of KoC2, and probably the one menu you'll spend the most time in after you've completed all the other modes. From here you can edit your current wrestlers to match their new appearance or moveset, and move them to different feds should their real-life counterpart jump ship, and also here you can create your own fed, and most importantly, create your own wrestler, which is what we'll concentrate on this chapter. The option to create an original wrestler is in the very first of the six available options in EDIT MODE. This menu becomes so complex and extensive that it gets it's own chapter in this FAQ, so the remaining five menus will be detailed in the following chapter. This menu opens up to: - SELECT WRESTLER PROFILE APPEARANCE SKILL PARAMETER MOVES COM LOGIC QUICK SAVE / QUICK LOAD EXIT You didn't really need all that since the menu names are displayed in English at the right screen anyway. However, once you enter those menus you'll probably get lost immediately. While it looks complicated at first glance, making an original wrestler can be quite easy. If you've played Survival Road, and bought a few "wrestlers" from the second and third Secret Shop menus, you might be confused why they aren't appearing in the character select screen. That's because you've bought templates rather than wrestlers, and you must build them from scratch here. But don't worry, if you know the trick it'll take just a few minutes to create your wrestler. -=Ten Quick Steps for Making a Wrestler from a Template=- 1) At the Secret Shop buy the wrestler template you want. Try to write down the wrestler's name in Japanese - this speeds up your process a little bit since you won't need to wait for your wrestler's model to load up before you can identify him. 2) Go to the Original Wrestler menu. Go to PROFILE. Press /\ and select the first option. You'll get three options now. First one is Standard Profile, second is Wrestler Template Profile, third is MMA Template Profile. Locate your new wrestler - it's not in order, so you must either scroll through everyone waiting for their models to load or try to identify your wrestler by name. Once you've found him select with (). There, you've loaded up your wrestler's profile! Easy, right? Press START to exit the PROFILE MENU. 3) Go to the APPEARANCE menu next. Do exactly what you did in one step above to load your wrestler's appearance. Again, press START to exit. 4) Do the same thing in the SKILL menu. You're getting the idea, right? In some cases the game wouldn't let you load the skill setting of your template; that's because you don't have enough edit points. To get more edit points, buy them at the Secret Shop. 5) Do the same in the PARAMETER menu. Again, it may not let you load a wrestler's parameter if you don't have enough edit points. 6) You guessed it, do the same in the MOVE menu. Upon leaving this menu (by pressing START, as usual), you'll get the chance to rename your wrestler's finisher. Of course, you'll want to know what that move is, so you can go through the entire move set menu and look for a move that has a big red icon to the left of it; that's your finisher. If it's too complicated for you, just use the default name (press START again to leave the finisher rename screen) 7) Here we go again. Go now to the COM LOGIC menu and usual steps to load your wrestler's COM logic. 8) Your wrestler is sorta finished. In most cases, to avoid copyright issues your wrestler is renamed and colored differently. Here I can't help you very much; you'll need some puroresu (or MMA) knowledge to know what is your template's real name and costume/skin color. If you do know all that, first go to the PROFILE menu again. First Option in them menu sets what is your wrestler's home fed, second sets his name, third sets his nickname. Change as required. 9) Now head to the APPEARANCE menu to change his colors. At the first option press [] - here you can re-color his skin, hair, eye color and mask. Here's the interesting bit; at every color selection, press [] again and the game will sorta "suggest" you a color which, more often than not, is pretty close to the real deal. You can repeat that for all the color menus; though even this suggested color isn't perfect at times. Once you're happy with his real color press START to exit. 10) You're done already. Wasn't that hard, right? Now all that's left to do is to save your creation. Go to the QUICK SAVE / QUICK LOAD menu. You've got three options here, which is QUICK LOAD, QUICK SAVE and DELETE. Fairly self explanatory if you ask me. Choose Quick Save (second option) and your wrestler will be entered into your save list. The remaining slots available in your memory card is listed at the bottom. Once your wrestler is entered, press >< twice to get out of the menu. Go on and exit back to the game's main menu and you'll be prompted to save along the way. Enjoy your new wrestler! OPTIONAL: - Your created wrestler can be cloned in case you want the same guy but with a different costume or move set or profile etc. Load your wrestler (go to QUICK SAVE / QUICK LOAD and choose the first option, then choose the wrestler you want), then back at the main Original Wrestler Menu, press /\. A window with three options will appear. First is Clone, Second is Delete Clone, Third is Exit. Select Clone, then choose Yes when the game prompts, then choose which set to clone from (more sets will appear if you have more than one set already). There, now you have identical wrestlers (press left or right to switch between sets). Make the changes you want to whichever clone and save him. Note: Each clone takes up another one of your wrestler slots; however, each clone can have entirely different profiles, stats, costumes, moves etc. If you don't want the clone anymore, select it, press /\, then choose the second option to delete him. All right, you know how to make your wrestler from a template... what if you want to edit him further? Well, that's where it gets rather complicated as I will have to go through every menu, and there's a LOT of stuff here. -=SELECT WRESTLER=- This menu allows you to completely load a default wrestler (costume, profile, move set, everything) so you can start editing from there. After selecting your wrestler (you must select which set to clone too), you'll be brought to a small menu will five options. The last option is exit, while the first four are Load Profile, Load Appearance, Load Moves, Load COM Logic. Select any of the first four and press () to load up their data for the respective menus. Note that they don't let you load their Skill and Parameter for some reason; to get those you can go to the DEFAULT WRESTLER EDIT (head to the Chapter below for more info on that) and view their stats there, jot 'em down somewhere, then go back to original wrestler edit and put them in. -=PROFILE=- Profile is where you enter your original wrestler's... profile. Uh.. okay. FEDERATION -> Choose which fed your wrestler will be located at NAME -> Gives your wrestler a name. The short name will be displayed at the Select Screen and display during matches, while the long name will only appear during introductions. Third option is to swap the short and long names about (ON/OFF) and fourth is the symbol that will appear between your names NICKNAME -> Your nickname doesn't actually appear anywhere else besides at the select screen. WEIGHT CATEGORY -> Self explanatory. Comes in 1) Light Heavyweight 2) Heavyweight 3) Super Heavyweight 4) Free HOME COUNTRY -> Helluva lot of choices here; really only affects what flag will fly over your wrestler's head at the select screen. 1) Unknown 21)Switzerland 2) Japan 22)China 3) USA 23)South Korea 4) Canada 24)North Korea 5) Germany 25)Mongolia 6) Mexico 26)Thailand 7) England 27)Australia 8) France 28)New Zealand 9) Brazil 29)Bulgaria 10) Russia 30)Botswana 11) Puerto Rico 31)South Africa 12) India 32)Tonga 13) Sudan 33)Trinidad & Tobago 14) Jordan 34)Ukraine 15) Cuba 35)Austria 16) Finland 36)Croatia 17) Georgia 37)Bahrain 18) Netherlands 38)United Arabian Emirates 19) Italy 39)Iran 20) Spain 40)Isle of Samoa SIZE -> How big your wrestler is. This option is more of a weight detection if anything, and affects how easily your wrestler can be lifted by your opponent. Comes in: - 1) SS 2) S 3) M 4) L 5) LL Thanks to TakakoPanic for clarifying. WEIGHT/HEIGHT -> Changes your weight and height. Obvious, I know. BIRTHDAY -> Does this even need an explanation? WRESTLE STYLE -> How your wrestler... well... wrestles. Different styles produce different wrestler animations and move compatibility. If you next select a move that has low compatibility to your wrestling style, it becomes easier to counter or avoid. Thanks go out to chuchu33 and Kilroy for these and following translations: - 1) Orthodox 14) Heel 2) Technical 15) Mysterious 3) Wrestling 16) Shooter 4) Ground 17) Fighter 5) Power 18) Grappler 6) Strong Shooter 19) Striker 7) American 20) Free Fighter 8) Highspot 21) Stacie (Gracie) 9) All Around 22) Panther 10) Genius 23) Giant 11) Revolution 24) Vicious 12) Junior 25) King's Road 13) Luchador 26) Beast (Bob Sapp Style) DEFENSIVE STYLE -> Determines how well your wrestler can defend himself against certain moves. Different defensive style have different tolerances to different moves. The list is same as above. COUNTER STYLE -> Determines how you counter moves. The list is pretty much the same, but with the addition of a few character-unique counter styles: - 1) Orthodox 21) Stacie (Gracie) 2) Technical 22) Panther 3) Wrestling 23) Giant 4) Ground 24) Vicious 5) Power 25) King's Road 6) Strong Shooter 26) Beast (Bob Sapp Style) 7) American 27) Takashi Iizuka Type 8) Highspot 28) Osamu Kido Type 9) All Around 29) Hiroshi Hase Type 10) Genius 30) Yoshinari Ogawa Type 11) Revolution 31) Toshiaki Kawada Type 12) Junior 32) Satoru Asako Type 13) Luchador 33) Naomichi Marufuji Type 14) Heel 34) Low-Ki Type 15) Mysterious 35) Kendo Ka Shin Type 16) Shooter 36) Minoru Tanaka Type 17) Fighter 37) Mitsuharu Misawa Type 18) Grappler 38) Jun Akiyama Type 19) Striker 39) Kenta Kobashi Type 20) Free Fighter 40) Shinsuke Nakamura Type VOICE 1 -> How your wrestler grunts and groans when he performs moves. Upon selecting this, you can set this sound clip to any move in the move set. VOICE 2 -> More grunting and groaning from your wrestler. Oh, you can press [] to sample said grunting. FAVORITE COLOR -> This determines what color of streamers will be thrown during certain match introductions. POPULARITY -> How much the crowd will cheer for you. 1) Low 2) Medium 3) High That's it for the PROFILE menu. -=APPEARANCE (NORMAL)=- Here is where you set your character's appearance. As mentioned previously, when you see an entry that allows you to press [], you can set the color for that part of costume. When setting a color, pressing [] lets the game "suggest" you a color, which in most cases is much closer to the real thing. HEAD -> Unlike the previous KoC which requires you to do that ridiculous scrolling through of a few hundred heads just to find the one you want, here heads are sorted by fed. So... 1) NJPW Heads 5) WJ Heads 2) NOAH Heads 6) FREE Heads 3) AJPW Heads 7) Template Heads 4) ZERO-1 HEADS If you need a complete head list, look in the "Bits and Pieces" chapter at the end of this FAQ. When you press [] here you can re-color your skin, hair (if any), eye color, mask 1 and mask 2 (if you've got a mask on, that is). STANDING POSE -> Choose your wrestler's standing animation here. BODY SHAPE -> Choose how your wrestler's body will be shaped. HEIGHT -> Choose how tall your wrestler will be. This affects his appearance. COSTUME TYPE -> Selects your overall category of costumes. They come in: - 1) Tights 6) Tucked Pants w/ Belt 2) Karate Gi 7) Track Suits 3) Long Pants 8) Boxer Shorts 4) T-Shirt and Pants 9) Corporate Suit 5) Tucked Long Pants GLASSES -> Available on heads that don't have masks on. Lets you look cool, I guess. CHEST -> Changes how your wrestler's manly chest looks like. You've got: - 1) Bare Chest 4) Body Suits and Shirts 2) Bare Chest w/ Tattoos 5) T-Shirts w/ Logos 3) T-Shirts RIGHT ELBOW -> Put on elbow pads and whatnot here. LEFT ELBOW -> Can't miss out your other elbow. RIGHT HAND -> Put on some gloves here. LEFT HAND -> Put on some more gloves here. LOWER BODY -> Chooses what kind of tights you'll be putting on. 1) Underwear 4) Medium Length Tights 2) Short Tights 5) Full Length Tights RIGHT KNEE -> What to put on your right knee, naturally. LEFT KNEE -> What to put on your left knee, naturally. FEET -> Choose your boots here. -=APPEARANCE (ENTRANCE)=- To set your entrance appearance (that's what you'll be wearing when you walk into the ring), go to the APPEARANCE MENU and press R1. ENTRANCE MASK -> Some creepy stuff you can put on your head when you strut down the ring. ENTRANCE COSTUME -> You can put on funny stuff like capes and shoulder pads here. COSTUME DESIGN -> The entrance costume you picked one option up may have different designs; here is where you pick those designs. GLASSES -> Same as the option in the normal appearance menu. BELT -> Choose what title belts you will wear to the ring. Hey, make sure your character has already won those belts before putting them onto your entrance costume, okay? ITEMS -> You can have your wrestler hold everything from barb wire to katanas coming into the ring. ANNOUNCE TYPE -> Here you can select how the announcer calls you as you walk down the entrance. Kinda pointless if you don't know Japanese though. Press [] to hear exactly what is announced. ENTRANCE THEME -> Choose what music will accompany you down to the ring. Yes, there's a HECK OF A LOT OF MUSIC to choose from! Music marked with a (C) have crowd chants in them. ANNOUNCE NAME -> Choose what will be announced as your name as during your entrance. RING ANNOUNCE -> Choose what will be announced as your name and stats during your ring introduction. That's it for entrance editing. If you want to set how your wrestler walks into the ring, that's tucked into the MOVE menu. -=SKILL=- Here you can set various skills your wrestler possesses. There are a lot of fairly complicated options here. Different settings cost different amount of edit points (as listed in the rightmost column) so you really can't make a super duper wrestler... right away, at least. As mentioned before, if you want to make a stronger wrestler, buy more edit points from the Secret Shop. POWERBALLS -> Sets how many powerballs you can use. 1) No Powerballs (0 pts) 2) 1 Powerball (10 pts) 3) 2 Powerballs (15 pts) 4) 3 Powerballs (20 pts) 5) 4 Powerballs (25 pts) 6) 5 Powerballs (30 pts) CRITICAL TYPE -> Sets what kind of move can produce criticals (i.e. instant KOs). 1) None (You can't critical at all - 0 pts) 2) Finisher Only (Only your finishing move can critical - 10 pts) 3) Suplexes (Suplex-type moves can critical - 20 pts) 4) Power Moves (Moves such as powerbombs can critical - 20 pts) 5) Technical (Moves such as small packages can critical - 25 pts) 6) Striking (Punches and kicks can critical - 30 pts) 7) Submissions (Submission holds can critical - 30 pts) RECOVERY -> How quickly you recover from an attack. 1) Weak (0 pts) 2) Medium (6 pts) 3) Strong (12 pts) RECOVERY (BLEEDING) -> Same as above, but when you are bleeding. 1) Weak (0 pts) 2) Medium (3 pts) 3) Strong (6 pts) BREATHING -> How quickly you regain stamina by breathing (using L1) and also how quickly you get fatigued. 1) Weak (0 pts) 2) Medium (6 pts) 3) Strong (12 pts) BREATHING (BLEEDING) -> As above, but when bleeding. 1) Weak (0 pts) 2) Medium (3 pts) 3) Strong (6 pts) AWARENESS -> How well you counter/kick out of pins i.e. your fighting spirit. 1) Weak (0 pts) 2) Medium (6 pts) 3) Strong (12 pts) AWARENESS (BLEEDING) -> As above, but when bleeding. 1) Weak (0 pts) 2) Medium (3 pts) 3) Strong (6 pts) NECK STRENGTH -> How well you can resist a neck-based attack or submission. 1) Low (0 pts) 2) Medium (2 pts) 3) Strong (5 pts) 4) Injured (0 pts) ARM STRENGTH -> How well you can resist a arm-based attack or submission. 1) Low (0 pts) 2) Medium (2 pts) 3) Strong (5 pts) 4) Injured (0 pts) WAIST STRENGTH -> How well you can resist a waist-based attack or submission. 1) Low (0 pts) 2) Medium (2 pts) 3) Strong (5 pts) 4) Injured (0 pts) LEG STRENGTH -> How well you can resist a leg-based attack or submission. 1) Low (0 pts) 2) Medium (2 pts) 3) Strong (5 pts) 4) Injured (0 pts) MOVEMENT SPEED -> How fast your wrestler moves 1) Slow (0 pts) 2) Medium (6 pts) 3) Fast (12 pts) CLIMBING -> Affects how your wrestler climbs the turnbuckle 1) Cannot Climb (0 pts) 2) Can Climb Up Normally (2 pts) 3) Can Climb Up Quickly (2 pts) 4) Can Run Up (2 pts) MODE SKILL -> Skills affecting your performance in certain modes. Press [] to get more details on these... if you know Japanese, that is. I'm looking for help on translations for these. SKILL PACKAGE -> These skills affect your ring performance, and comes in a package of three. You can choose from two options; first is a complete package that sets the three sub-skills for you, and the second is original which allows you to manually set the sub-skills yourself. Need translation help for these too. You're done with the SKILL menu for now. -=PARAMETERS=- Parameters are set points that dictate how much damage your moves do and how much and what type of damage you can defend against. As you can see, the parameters are split into offense and defense. OFFENSE: - DEFENSE: - PUNCH PUNCH KICK KICK SUPLEX SUPLEX SUBMISSION SUBMISSION STRETCH STRETCH POWER FLYING INSTANT POWER CRUSHING ARM POWER LARIAT TECHNIQUE TECHNIQUE ROUGHNECK ROUGHNECK SHOOTFIGHTING SHOOTFIGHTING Most of these are self-explanatory; if you know your wrestling you should know what most of these are. -=MOVES=- This menu is where you set your wrestler's moves; it's probably the one menu you'll spend the most time in. KoC2's available moves run into the thousands, perhaps the most for any wrestling game! You're going to take some time to fill these up: - 1. WINNING ANIMATION -> Winning Animation When you are setting moves to your movelist, you'll notice two columns on the left of the move name. The left-most column is where you set your specialty moves and finisher. You can set up to four specialty moves and one finisher (finishers can be renamed upon exiting the MOVE menu). Any move set as a specialty move can be locked on much easier and does a little more damage. A move set as a finisher does much more damage than what it normally should. If you set one move as a specialty/finisher move, and the exact same move appears elsewhere on the movelist, that move will also be set as specialty/finisher. The other column is where you set your voice clip to accompany your moves. All done? Move on to the next menu. -=COM LOGIC=- COM Logic dictates how your wrestler will behave in the ring when controlled by the computer, basically percentage chances of him doing a certain action at a certain time. A wrestler with an improperly set COM Logic can have the best stats but still be a loser in the ring, so these settings are important. For the purpose of this menu I'll format it such a way: - (NAME OF COM Logic Menu - top left box on the screen) -> Condition Type : What condition you or your opponent is in. It's the top right box on the screen. If it's not present conditions don't matter -> Opponent Injury : What stamina level is your opponent in for the COM Logic to be as such. This is the bottom left box on the screen. -> Options : What type of reaction options your wrestler can perform under this menu. This is the lower middle box. Any option with a (->NEXT) next to it has addition logic settings available. You'll see the percentages on the bottom-right most box, which is what you can set. Basically, this means that when you are doing this action as named in the menu name, and you are in that particular condition (light, medium or high damage, or near defeat), then the chances of you performing that set of actions is designated by the set of percentages on the right. Sounds kinda confusing, but if you play around the menu a bit, you should be able to figure it out. 1. As is already discussed earlier, the options here are QUICK LOAD, QUICK SAVE and DELETE. Self explanatory, right? They are called Quick Load and Save because they don't actually get recorded into the memory card until you exit the Edit Menu completely. Again, note the space you have at the bottom; you can make up to 100 single-costume wrestlers, or 25 wrestlers with four costumes each. Your call. And with that, we've wrapped up the Original Wrestler Menu! The menus are identical to the ones in ORIGINAL WRESTLER EDIT, so for more detail look one chapter up. BACK TO DEFAULT obviously resets the wrestler back to his original form which came with the game. Once you're done with your edit, don't forget to QUICK SAVE. -=COMPANY EDIT=- Here is where you can create new wrestling federations. You'll get four options upon entering this menu: - COMPANY NAME COMPANY LOGO QUICK SAVE / QUICK LOAD EXIT Creating a fed is a ridiculously-easy three steps. One, go to COMPANY NAME and give your fed a name. Two, go to COMPANY LOGO and select a logo for your fed. Three, go to QUICK SAVE / QUICK LOAD and save your fed (second option; you can save up to twenty feds). There, easy right? In the QUICK SAVE / QUICK LOAD menu the first option is to load an existing fed (in case you want to edit the name or logo) and the third option is DELETE which, well, deletes a selected fed. -=WRESTLER TRADE=- Well, you made your brand-spanking new fed. So how do you plop your wrestlers into it? Well, you COULD go to original/default wrestler edit, load a wrestler, go to profile and change his home fed to your new one... or you save much more time and do it here. Press left and right to switch feds, and up and down and press () to select a wrestler. Then scroll down to the fed you want and plop him in there. By the way, the very last fed option (in big Japanese letters) is RETIRED; anyone you throw in there will not appear in the game. -=RENAME=- If you're an English speaking puroresu fan like me, first thing you'd want to do is to rename all your wrestlers in English. Again, you could go to wrestler edit, load up your wrestler, go to his profile and rename him; but it's much faster to do it here. Scroll left and right to change feds, and up and down to change wrestlers. Select a wrestler and you'll see all his costume sets listed. You'll have to rename him one costume set at a time. -=SHIFT ORDER=- Purely an aesthetic option, shift order lets you move wrestlers up and down the character select screen. Just select a wrestler then press up and down to move his name up and down. You can also shift the order at which feds are scrolled when you press left or right at the select screen. Move the cursor up to the fed name and press (), then the screen will change to a list of feds. Move your fed you selected up and down. You're finally done with the Edit Menu! Phew. __________________________________________________________________________ | _______________________________________________________________| \_L._DOJO_/ Dojo mode is the new addition to KoC2 which allows beginners to get the hang of the King of Colosseum Engine. It is STRONGLY recommended for all new players to clear this one before trying anything else. Besides, once you clear this mode you'll get a new referee and a new wrestler (don't be too happy, unfortunately they're the same guy). Once you clear this mode you'll also open a Free Practice option, more detail of which is below. But first, select this mode and after some chit-chat, you'll get to pick twelve training steps. Only the first step is open right now, and when you clear that the next step opens up, and keeps opening until you have cleared all the steps. You don't have to do them all in one sitting, of course. Each individual step will have a number of related tasks to them. Again, new tasks open up once open ones are finished. When you clear one task two options will appear; first one is to do the task again, second is to proceed. The order of tasks are listed below. -=Step 1=- 1) Rebound at the ropes 3 times - Dir+/\ to the ropes 2) Hang onto the ropes 3 times - Dir+/\ to the ropes, tap the /\ button as you're in the rebounding animation 3) Run laps until you're tired - Run to the ropes, rebound and don't press any buttons; you'll see your wrestler run back and forth between the two opposite ropes. He'll tire out in about one to two minutes 4) Breathing Exercise - Just hold L1 for about 10 game seconds 5) Exit ring 3 times - Just hold down Dir+/\ towards the ropes when you're near them to get out, repeat three times 6) Enter ring 3 times - Like the above, but hold in the direction of the ring instead 7) Climb out to apron 3 times - Same as going out of the ring, but rather than holding down the Dir+/\, just lightly tap the /\ button while holding down the Direction 8) Climb down from apron 3 times - Just hold the direction to the outside and press /\ to get off the apron 9) Slide into the ring 3 times - Run towards the ring while holding down the Dir+/\ buttons together with the R1 button - yes, you'll need to hold down all three buttons to slide into the ring 10) Slide out of the ring 3 times - Do the same as the above (hold down Dir+/\+R1) while running towards the ropes 11) Climb turnbuckle 3 times - Walk right to the corner and then press the Dir Pad to the corner, then hold /\ to climb up. Make sure you're right next to the corner or you'll run up the corner instead... don't jump the gun, that's two exercises down :P 12) Get off the turnbuckle 3 times - Climb the turnbuckle as above, then get down by pressing Dir Pad Down 13) Run up turnbuckle 3 times - Give yourself a good distance between you and the turnbuckle, then run towards it holding down the Dir+/\ and you'll automatically climb up -=Step 2=- 1) Standing strike 3 times - Get right up to your opponent and press [] or >< or (). They all must connect to be registered by the game 2) Powerball strike 3 times - As above, but press []>< instead (that's pressing two buttons simultaneously). They all must connect 3) Block strikes 3 times - Just hold down R2 and you'll do the manly thing of blocking a dropkick with your chest 4) Counter strikes 3 times - A little harder. Tap (don't hold) R2 just as your opponent's attacks are about to land 5) Running strike (set 1) 3 times - Run at your opponent and press [] or >< or /\ as you get near him. He moves around a bit; the easiest to connect is the >< running strike (running elbow) 6) Running strikes (set 2) 3 times - As above, but use Dir+Attack Button instead for another set of strikes 7) Pick up a weapon 3 times - Go out to the railings, hold in that direction then press R1 8) Drop and pick up weapon 3 times - Go fish a weapon out of the railings, then come back in and drop the weapon with R1, pick it up again with the same, repeat ad nauseum - aww heck just keep tapping R1 9) Weapon strike 3 times - Use the attack buttons with weapon in hand on your poor opponent 10) Running weapon strike 3 times - As above, but do it while running; your opponent will move around a bit (can't blame him really) 11) Counter weapon strike 3 times - Do it like how you'd counter a strike (no.4 above). If you did it right you'll snatch the weapon off your opponent's hands -=Step 3=- 1) Ground attack 3 times - Attack your opponent three times when he's on the ground using the attack buttons 2) Slap on a submission and release - Put your opponent in a submission (I use the boston crab - press () near the legs) then let go by tapping the >< button 3) Kick out of a pin - Let your opponent pin you, then repeatedly tap any of the four face buttons [] or >< or () or /\ like crazy to kick out. Takes a few tries 4) Break out of a submission - Let your opponent slap on a submission, then repeatedly tap the four face buttons like crazy to break out 5) Running stomps 3 times - Run at your fallen opponent and press an attack button to stomp him - they must all connect 6) Roll over opponent three times - Go near him and press R1+/\ at his sides 7) Drag opponent 3 times - Just press /\ near his head or feet 8) Step over opponent 3 times - Just attempt to walk across his sides 9) Drag opponent at sides 3 times - Just like no.7 above, but press /\ near his sides instead 10) Roll out of ring 3 times - Once your opponent knocks you down, hold down [] and the direction towards the nearest set of ropes to roll in that direction. Once you're at the ropes keep holding down the buttons to roll right out 11) Ducking when getting up 3 times - Again let your opponent knock you down, then hold down >< for a bit before you get up 12) Tap out of submission - Let your opponent lock on a submission, then tap out manually by holding down the four shoulder buttons R1+R2+L1+L2. Weakling! -=Step 4=- 1) Pick up opponent 3 times - Press and hold R1+/\ near your opponent's head or feet 2) Get your opponent to seated position 3 times - Tap R1+/\ once at his head 3) Seated position attacks 3 times - Press an attack button behind your seated opponent 4) Get your opponent to kneeling position 3 times - As with no.2, but tap the buttons at his feet instead 5) Kneeling position attacks 3 times - Press an attack button while facing your kneeling opponent. You can do the running variation as well 6) Get your opponent to on all fours position 3 times - Tap R1+/\ once at his head or feet 7) On all fours position attack 3 times - Press an attack button at the head, feet or sides of your opponent -=Step 5=- 1) Diving move on downed opponent 3 times - Climb the turnbuckle nearest to your prone opponent then press () or []>< 2) Diving move on standing opponent 3 times - As above, but use [] or >< instead 3) Climb corner move 3 times - Go to either of the upper two corners then hold the Dir Pad towards the corner and press [] or >< or () or []>< -=Step 6=- 1) Tie-Up clutch 3 times - Face your opponent as press R1+/\ 2) Tie-Up grapple 3 times - Do the above, then press an attack button when you see the flash 3) Put opponent in head lock 3 times - As above, but press R2 instead 4) Turn opponent around 3 times - Just face your partner and press R3 (if you're wondering where that button is, it's under the right analog stick; just press the stick down into the joypad) 5) German clutch grapple 3 times - Go behind your opponent and press R1+/\ then an attack button when you see the flash 6) Full Nelson holds 3 times - As above, but press R2 instead of the attack buttons 7) Ring to apron grapples 3 times - Grab your opponent with R1 and any face button, then press any attack button when you see the flash 8) Apron to ring grapples 3 times - Go out onto the apron, get near your opponent and press R1+/\, then any attack button when you see the flash; if you can't reach him go back into the ring and nudge him closer to the ropes -=Step 7=- 1) Hammer throw opponent 3 times - Clutch him with R1+/\, then press R1 when you see the flash 2) Running counter 3 times - Hammer throw as above, then hold R1 and any attack button when your opponent is running at you 3) Hammer throw to corner 3 times - Do the same as no. 1 above while holding the Dir Pad diagonally towards any corner 4) Running corner attacks 3 times - Throw your opponent to a far corner, then hold down an attack button to run in and attack 5) Corner attacks 3 times - Throw your opponent into a corner, get near him and then press any attack button 6) Top rope grapples 3 times - As above, but hold down R1 when you press the attack button 7) Tree of woe position 3 times - Get your opponent into a corner then get near him and press R1+/\ -=Step 8=- 1) Throw opponent out of ring 3 times - Get him in a R1+/\ clutch then press and hold down R1 when you see the flash 2) Dive to outside 3 times - Throw your opponent out of the ring, then hold towards him and press any attack button. They must all connect 3) Running dive to outside 3 times - Chuck your opponent out as above, but run towards the opposite ropes, hold down an attack button as you're rebounding. They must all connect 4) Apron running dive 3 times - Chuck your opponent out, then get out onto the apron, run along the apron and press an attack button. The dive must connect; if you have trouble, make sure you position your opponent as near as you can to the outside corner 5) Apron to ring moves 3 times - Get out and throw your opponent back into the ring, then get onto the apron and press towards the ring and any attack button. The attack must connect to get registered -=Step 9=- 1) Running tackle mount 3 times - Run at your opponent then press [] 2) Counter running tackle mount 3 times - Press R2 just when your opponent is about to tackle you down 3) Mounted attacks 3 times - Mount your opponent like how you did in no. 1, then hit any attack button when you see the flash -=Step 10=- 1) Tag out 3 times - Go near your partner, hold towards his direction and press L1 2) Call for tag 3 times - Just press /\ and let your partner tag you in 3) Manually tag in 3 times - When your partner is near you press L1 4) Submission break 3 times - When your partner is stuck in a submission, get into the ring, walk to them and attack 5) Running submission break 3 times - As above, but do a running attack instead 6) Switch focus 3 times - Just press L2 couple of times 7) Front double team 3 times - Stand in front of your opponent with your partner and press [] 8) Back double team 3 times - Same thing, except behind your opponent 9) Corner double team 3 times - Go near your opponent and press []>< 10) Pull opponent out of ring 3 times - Get near the groggy opponent and press towards him and R1+/\ 11) Pull opponent off apron 3 times - Same as above, Dir+R1+/\ towards him 11) Trip opponent 3 times - Press towards the opponent and R1+/\ as he is rebounding near you 12) Throw opponent off turnbuckle - Just get near the perched opponent, hold towards him and press any attack button -=Step 11=- 1) Beat Yamamoto Kotetsu - Avenge the monotony he put you through and you can unlock him as a referee and as a wrestler! It's a little harder than you think, since Kotetsu's a real tank and your wrestler can't do much damage. But if you've cleared the above successfully you should be able to pull through -=Step 12=- 1) Free Training - Here you can select whichever wrestler you want to control, and train your clutch timings. You first choose single or tag, then pick the wrestler or wrestlers you will control. The little flash thing is still here, so you can get your clutch timings down to an art before you start a real fight! When you pause the game here you'll get three options. The first lets you return to the match. The third lets you quit and return to the dojo main menu. The second is match options. Here you can set: - COM Condition -> How healthy or injured your opponent is -> Medium/Strong/Weak COM Control -> Center -> The COM will try to stand in the center -> COM -> COM will actively attack -> Free -> COM will do nothing COM Level -> Sets the COM difficulty if he's attacking -> 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8 Timing Flash -> On or off the timing flash for clutches -> On/Off Return -> Goes back one menu Exit -> Exit Dojo mode __________________________________________________________________________ | ___________________________________________________| \_M._PARTIAL_MOVELIST_/ If I had listed the entire movelist here this file will be ten times as large, so I'll make it simple - I'll just list the wrestler's favorite moves and finishers. The list will follow this format :- -=Name=- Birthday - Wrestler's Birthday From - Home Country Height - Height in centimeters Weight - Weight in Kilograms Costume for which this move set is applicable [1] Name of First Specialty Move - How to perform [2] Name of Second Specialty Move- How to perform [3] Name of Third Specialty Move- How to perform [4] Name of Fourth Specialty Move- Name - How to perform [F] Name of Finisher - How to perform Moves using the []>< or /\() buttons will require the use of one Powerball to perform. Most wrestlers have multiple costumes, and each costume can potentially have a different move set attached to them (case in point Kensuke Sasaki, see his move list if you don't believe me). However in most cases each wrestler will only have one identical movelist for all their costumes. In any case I've indicated what costume set each movelist is for. Once you've played Survival Road enough, you can buy additional costumes which, more often that not, will also come with a different movelist. I've indicated these with a (LOCKED) next to them. =========================================================================== NEW JAPAN PRO WRESTLING (NJPW) =========================================================================== -=MASAHIRO CHONO=- Birthday - 17th September 1963 From - Japan Height - 186 cm Weight - 108 kg Set 1,2 [1] Cross-legged STF - Op. Watch very closely. This is the power of puroresu. Puroresu will never lose. Match between puroresu's top representatives) Chono vs. Kobashi (Match representing puroresu's pride and confidence) Kojima vs. Tenzan (Battle between TenKoji) Mutoh vs. Misawa (Ultimate dream match and the best puroresu has to offer) Muta vs. Misawa (Same as above) Hashimoto vs. Kawada (Who will win the first encounter? Hakaiou? Dangerous K?) Hashimoto vs. Misawa (First match ever between two wrestlers with very storied careers) Marufuji vs. Liger (Who will win the first encounter? Jushin? Shiranui?) Takayama vs. Nakanishi (Fujiyama and Everest showdown) Takayama vs. Kobashi (Battle to decide the real #1 wrestler in Japan) Tenryu vs. Fujinami (Battle of the dragons) Tenryu vs. Kobashi (Two wrestlers who love puroresu have a match to decide who is the true Mr. Puroresu) Tenryu vs. Choshu (Right now is our time. Two men will start the revolution) Fujinami vs. Choshu (Some crap about them playing a song. It's weird Tanaka haiku) Akiyama vs. Nagata (Basically stuff about them spearheading the new era in puroresu) -=TIDBITS=- by PWMonthly 1) Tokyo Dome B I believe is the setting they use for the Hustle, or Wrestle-I, shows. I guess if you pick B and the Wrestle-I mat you can do your own Hustle shows sans the freaky gimmicks, unless you create them. 2) Eigen Spit Spot - When you wrestle Eigen you have to go to the apron and "LOSE" the grapple. What happens is Eigen will be reversed onto the apron and slapped in the chest for the infamous, and funny, Eigen spit spot. -=HEAD LIST=- by chuchu33 Long-time contributor chuchu33 has put in the effort to translate all the heads in the game.
