So, you just bought Ikuze Onsen Takkyuu and wanna know how to play or know secrets of it? Well i'll answer to both your questions, the first one can be answered in sections 1.1,1.2 and 1.3, while the second question while be answered now: there aren't any secrets. Unfortunately Psikyo did a good job with the game, but didn't work too much on the durability of the game. (please, if I'm mistaking email me and tell me, but so far I haven't found anything). The FAQ will be updated if I find any secrets, altho so far I've finished it will all the characters and nothing new has popped up. I'll let ya know. I wrote this FAQ only because I've never seen any other FAQ around and many people like to read a FAQ on a game they own because it gives them someone else's opinion, thing that you won't easily find while speaking of japanese games such as Ikuze Onsen Takkyuu. It's purpose is mainly to translate the menu for the japanese impaired. Enjoy. 1.1 What is Ikuze Onsen Takkyuu? Well if you're here you probably (hopefully) already know that Ikuze Onsen Takkyuu is, but in case you don't, the game is a wonderful and fun game by Psikyo, it's a table tennis (takkyuu) game, unique in it's genre. The graphics aren't extraordinary, but slowdowns are very rare and unnoticable, unfortunately the software house didn't do a good job with antialiasing so there's the common problem of "roughness" in the game's graphics, but we can all live with that, as the most important thing in a game is surely gameplay. 1.2 General Gameplay Gameplay is very simple and quick to learn. The two buttons used are the X and the CIRCLE. The X button is the normal SLAP hit, while CIRCLE is a TOPSPIN hit, usually a smash. I presume you all know table tennis rules so I won't explain them. Occasionaly a super-move will be executed, that happens when the RALLY number is high (number of times the ball has been hit so far) and if you're in a good position and the ball is high in the air. This concludes the general gameplay section :P 1.3 Menu Translation Main menu: Story Mode Versus Mode -1Pvs2p -1PvsCOM Option Mode (default option is in caps - press select to reset highlited option to default) Difficulty Level easy - MEDIUM - hard Sets Per Game 1 - *3* - 5 Points Per Set 6 - *11* - 21 Sound STEREO - mono Vibration ON - off Button Configuration (press button and and up and down to slect command - SLAP or TOPSPIN) Sound Test (duh...you can hear BGMs and character voices) Save (CIRCLE to save or X to exit save menu) Exit 1.4 Characters This might be the most useless section of this mini-faq, but every FAQ that wants respect has to have a section on the characters of the game. So, as you all know by now, the game has 8 characters to choose from, 7 are made-up anime style characters, while the 8th is a probably some famous girl in japan, I can't tell... Every character differes slighly in style, but there doesn't seem to be any difference in power of or speed. As my knowledge of japanese is very limited and the font used in the game kinda sux, I'm not gonna translate the character's name, also because it's useless. We just wanna know there are 8 chars total, 4 female, 3 male and 1 unkown (it's a giant blue duck, I'd say it's male, but then again who knows). 1.5 Conclusion There, here ends this mini-faq on one of the most fun games for PS2 so far, if you haven't got it and are tired of playing SSX and other decent games for PS2 I advise you to buy it in the nearest import store, it's fun, especially if played in 2 player mode. Enjoy the game! lemming- <> This mini-faq is copyright 2001 of lemming- (Daniel Narets)
