When you start out immediately cast Lv3 Attack Up, Lv3 Shield, Lv3 Resistance and Lv1 Cycle Up on your character. Just go through the battle like this using normal attacks, and refreshing your spells when necessary. At a reasonable level this should get you through Master Class. Save often in battle in case some enemy decides to be cheap and knock you out. O============================================================================O | Story (StSty) | O============================================================================O o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Story 1: Tippi- Introduction (St001) | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o "Ah, Mother! Welcome home! Oh, what's in the basket?" At the unexpected sound of that voice, I opened my eyes and was surprised to find that, rather than the transparent walls of the case I was accustomed to, I found myself in a dark narrow place. "It's a little surprise...look!" And with that voice, a ray cut through the darkness, it's radiance forcing me to look away for a moment. "Tippi, come out. It's just my daughter Louise here." As my eyes adjusted, I made out a bearing girl with pink hair standing before me. "I'm Tippi! Nice to meet you! So, where's my partner," I said. "I don't know for sure, but I would wager he's still sleeping," Sandra said. "Yes, Mother, you're right. I think that Tippi and I should go wake him up," said Louise. "Yes, yes! That sounds like fun, but I'm curious...what is he like," I said. After some thought, Louise replied that her big brother was very quiet, but definitely cool. Excitedyl, I flew upstairs to the second floor, and entered the first room with Louise. A boy was sleeping on the be. "He certainly might be cool," I thought as Louise tried to wake him up. "Hey! Carmaine! Get up, already! Get UP," she stammered as she tried to wake him. But no matter how hard she tried, his eyes wouldn't open. My long- awaited meeting was going to be spoiled! No! It wasn't going to be spoiled! I wasn't going to let it be! "Louise, leave this to me...," Tippi--KICK! And that, was how I was introduced to my best friend Carmaine. o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Story 2: Sandra- Uncertain Failure (St002) | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o "I'm very sorry the experiment has dragged on." When Sandra entered the room, an air of bewilderment hung heavy in the air. The fortune teller, elder court magicians, and all the civil officials looked confused. The elderly fortune teller turned and motioned for Sandra to approach. "I want you to look into the child's future and tell me what you see," she whispered while pointing to a small basket where a baby peered calmly at the faces so intent on it. Hi right eye was gold, and his left silver. "But...my fortune telling is very slow...I...," Sandra began to protest, but was interrupted by the fortune teller. "I don't care. I want you to tell the future of this child because you know nothing of him." There was no choice. Sandra would have to tell the child's future. Carefully, she held a ring with a crystal ball over the baby. Soon, something began to appear within the crystal. It appeared to be a point of light and another of dark, each repelling the other. "I...I don't understand. What is this child?" The old woman stepped forward to gently console the confused Sandra. "He was abandoned at the castle gate. I tried seeing into his origin, but was confused as I saw only light and darkness." "If this child embraces the light, it will be very good. However, if the darkness overcomes him, that darkness will destroy not only him, but also the entire world," said the court magician, picking up where the fortune teller left off. Sandra looked at the baby once more. It looked directly back at her...with one gold and one silver eye. "The darkness won't consume him." Before she was conscious of it, the words spilled from Sandra's lips. "The child's future will not be dark. I will give him a future of light." As if relieved at hearing those words, the baby fell soundly asleep in Sandra's arms. o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Story 3: Louise- Thoughts (St003) | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o I know the purest and most pathetic part within me. "Well Misha...take care," I said. "You train hard, Louise! Perhaps I'll sign up for one course while you're way," Misha replied as she turned toward the gate. With a friendly wave, we parted at the main gate and I began the walk back to Rosaria alone...with my thoughts. My training is under a master magician at the Magic Academy. I help him with research and practice the things I've learned. If I fail his course, I won't be able to begin my graduation research project. My graduation is a long way off, and there is plenty of time to practice, but I still worry. Fortunately, my mother is a court magician, so I can practice under her eye and still be with my family. "Then I can be near my big brother." When I realized I had said that out louad, I was ashamed at first. I mean...he's my brother, right? Well, not really. He was adopted before I was born. Even so, I'm certain people would look at me with disapproval if they knew. Blood relatives or not, brothers and sisters are not supposed to have romantic feelings for each other. But, it happened, and these feelings of mine can't ever be discovered. It's especially hard to keep this to myself when I spend long periods of time with him. Sometimes I want to blurt it out, but I fear that he would think badly of me as well. I couldn't bear to live if he were to avoid me, so I'd best not tell him how I feel. It's better to kill those feelings then to act on them, right? Even so, I wish I could be honest... Perhaps the day will come when I can share my deepest secret... o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Story 4: Wallace- Beliefs (St004) | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o One blow, two blows, three blows... A feeling of impatience arose within me as I counted the number of times the swords met. "These men command impressive strength..." As that thought crossed my mind, I felt the sensation of sweat traveling from my brow to my cheek. "Was what the Village Chief said true?" I traveled the known world for fifteen years, searching in vain for the commander of the mercenary band I used to call my own. The commander had pursued a monster after it nearly destroyed everyone in our group. He didn't return. In all those fifteen years, no one had seen the grotesque, white beast that attacked us, nor had anyone seen our commander. That changed when I came upon Clain Village. Many there had reported a monstrous voice coming from the mountains north of the village. With a small glimmer of hope, I set out toward the mountains. Despite my hope, it was quite unexpected when I found them. Two men in brilliant white armor. "You! Stop right there," came the voice from beneath the armor. "I have no business with you. Step to the side of the road," I demanded, setting aside the uneasiness that crept over me as I examined their gleaming white armor with its sharp spikes and helmet with the design of four fiery eyes. "We cannot do that. You must die here." Each of the warriors had considerable skill. As if that wasn't bad enough, two more joined the fray. As I desperately crossed swords with them, I noticed that their long swords resembled that of my lost commander! The shock of that realization brought hesitation that led to my defeat. How can they use my commander's sword? Who are they? What will happen to me? o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Story 5: Karene- After the Incident (St005) | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o "It's really too dangerous..." Xenos was scolding me as big brothers are prone to do, telling me that I should not have been traveling through Rosaria alone at night in the first place. If the boy with black hair had not come when he did, I would have been hurt or killed by the bandits that suddenly had appeared on the road before me. Even as that boy drove them back with a steady sword, I found myself wishing that it were my brother. When that wish turned to reality, I was overcome with relief. Xenos had heard my cries! One brother. One sister. We are a family of only two. We lived together alone, and my strong brother was always there to save me. In fact, just the sight of him made me feel safe. Xenos appearing made the attack seem like a lie...a fabrication of my fearful mind. All I could see was the strong profile of my brother's dear face. "I...is something wrong? Is there something on my face? Y...you're staring Karene..." "Oh! It's nothing...nothing at all." I grabbed my brother's arm to hide my embarrassment. "Hey, hey there. What's this? It's not like you to bring out the princess act!" "But, I was afraid...," the words fell from my lips like tiny beads of lead. He always protects me. Thinks of me first. How can I repay such a kind brother? I do wish Xenos had a little more time to spend on himself. He's so taken with the problems and expectations of others that he sets his needs aside. I need to try to be more careful...more self-sufficient. He deserves that from his sister. But of course, that will have to begin tomorrow. Today my big brother saved me from the bandits... o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Story 6: Julian- Wandering (St006) | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o "Why am I here?" As I ponder this weighty question, the villagers frolic around the fire, light from the flames dancing in their eyes. For the simple feat of chasing away bandits they have decided to hold a celebration feast...this noisy revelry. But my heart isn't in it. My father, who until today had tought me the way of the sword, no longer looked at me. He had thrown away his sword. However, a slight boy with hair like coal picked up the sword and returned it. "Why is this stranger holding the sword?" is all I could think as he stood before me. I fought alongside him as an awkward thanks for returning the sword. It turned out he was Sandra's son...pursuing a magic guidance document that had been stolen. He still needed more experience, but he exuded a brand of confidence that was striking in its power...heartfelt, effortless. His arm guided the sword almost without a thought...as if by some mechanical precision. He was so...different from me. Perhaps sensing my gaze, he turned to face me. It was as if my heart were pierced by his gold and silver eyes. I looked away, immediately feeling shame at the action. He must have known... how could he not? I wonder what he thought? Those strong-willed eyes wrought havoc with me. It seems rediculous, but I distinctly remember thinking, quite unconsciously at first... "Could he have the ability to change the fate of the world?" o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Story 7: Xenos- Dark Flames (St007) | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o Searing pain ran across my back as I pulled the clothing over my head. I looked at the shirt and realized that the wetness I felt as I removed it was blood. "What did they do to me?" Cursing as I wiped the blood that had dripped to the floor, I mind raced over the events of the day. I quickly dressed the wounds and changed clothes. I slipped back into the crowd, intending to slip back into Rosaria unannounced. Unfortunately, I ended up meeting him. "Hey, what are you doing here?" "Ah, Xenos!" He and his little sister Louise seemed to be following me. "We;re after the person who tried to kill the princess," the sprite called Tippi blurted out. "I haven't seen anyone suspicious, but if I do, is there a reward for capture," I asked as innocently as I could, guiding the conversation by sidestepping the main topic while avoiding giving any real information. My only hope for survival was to pretend to be just like any other person...looking after my own interests, seeking to make money. I had been trained to behave normally to the bitter end. "There might be a reward..." "Great! He's as good as mine, then." Whe nI left the two of them, the wound that brat had pressed into my back throbbed. The tournament had divided us, light and dark. He had only won by filling me with poison. As he stood on the stage, showered in light for his deed, I was left in the shadows with the bitterness of my defeat. An assassin, a shadow...I didn't exist. "I will defeat him one day, and then I'll be in the limelight!" But none of that bitterness was visible to anyone. I kept it inside, burning within me, its dark flams nourishing my strength to survive. o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Story 8: Misha- Someday (St008) | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o "What are you saying I did?" I was being chased. The city was strangtly empty, so there was no one to help me. I ducked into a narrow back alley, but two pursuers continued to give chase. As I turned the corner, gasping for breath...BAM! I collided with a person standing there. The light behind him obscured his face, but he extended a strong hand to help me to my feet. As I grabbed his hand, my pursuers rounded the corner as well. I involuntarily stiffened. "Leave at once," the kind stranger commanded. "Ha! This jerk thinks he's gonna interfere in our...business," the two sneered as they drew swords. In the flash of an eye, they were disarmed. "Damn you," they screamed in defeat before running away. "Hrmph...well, you don't seem to be injured." As he turned to leave, I grabbed his hand. "Um...what's your...name?" "What's the matter Misha, Misha? Have you forgotten my face already?" Looking around, I realized I was in the library, grasping my friend Leda's hand tightly. "But...that man..." "Huh? Misha, you were dreaming! You must have fallen asleep again." "Oh, no..." Dejected, I stood up, filling my arms with books and documents once more. "Wait a minute, Misha...you can't possibly see where you're going if you carry that much! Make two trips..." "Pah! I'm fine, I can carry them all!" I didn't have much time to make two trips. Too much time had been lost when I dozed off. THUMP! BAM! And then, just like in a dream, I collided with someone... o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Story 9: Eliotte- At Dawn (St009) | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o I awoke before dawn and stepped outside the still-gloomy tent. I quietly threaded my way through the supply stacks, so as not to be seen by the guards. Truthfully, I shouldn't have been doing this, but I wanted some time to myself. "How many people are there who have been conscious of the significance of their birth," I thought as I wandered aimlessly. "Majesty, were you to wander any further, it would be problematic." As the words penetrated my consciousness, I realized that I was walking into the forest. I turned, catching sight of a man in purple looking at me with a bemused smile. "Kenshin..." "You didn't sleep, Majesty?" "I slept perfectly well, actually." "That's good to hear, but these secret escapes are not safe. It's fortunate for you that I came along when I did..." Reaves lie was gentle, as usual. Surely he had been watching over me during the night. "Can I ask you one thing? Have you ever considered the significance of you own birth?" "I owe allegiance to my nation, to my friends...and to your Majesty." He answered thus, without hesitation, using confident words. Yes...he was full of confidence. "Are you troubled, Majesty?" "It's alright. I'm here to stop this war...to build a better world." As I heard the words, I gained confidence. "Then let's return to the camp, Kenshin. I'll be relying on you today." "Yes, Majesty." The expectationsof others are the defining things in my life. The answer has been there all along. And, for now, it will have to be enough. As we walked back toward camp, it felt as if my steps had grown somehow lighter... o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Story 10: Ariost- Smiling Face of the Sun (St00A) | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o Regrets won't serve the future, but I regret letting an unknown girl use my lab. "Pleased to meet you. Actually I've come to ask you a favor." Her story sounded simple enough. There was a report to write, and she lacked the apparatus to do the experiment properly. "You have the apparatus to reproduce the experiment, right?" Even at my level, experiments were thrilling to me. I couldn't resist letting her use my equipment to do her experiment. That enthusiasm quickly faded once she mixed up the chemicals, started a fire, and shattered much of my table equipment. "Um...can I help?" "No," she said with indifference, oblivious to my growing anxiety. "If someone else does it for me, I still won't understand it. I have to do it myself." "I'll repeat the experiment until I understand it." I couldn't argue with the inherent logic of her statement. I simply sighed and watched her successive attempts carefully. "I've done it. Look! I've done it!" After taking five tries to conclude an experiment any first-year student could have done in one, she had indeed succeeded. And just then, something strange happened. Her excitement became mine. "Well done, um..." "Misha...my name is Misha." Her smiling face was warm and radiant like the sun. From that day on, I followed her progress carefully. o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Story 11: Julia- Incantation (St00B) | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o Submitted by: InfinityDragonRyu I closed the door of my assigned quarters, softening the noise of the celebration a little. I hadn't seen anyone on the way back to my room so my flushed face was my secret alone. "Phew..." Resting on the closed door, I exhaled as though I had forgotten to breathe until just then. As I realized the sound of that sigh was much louder than I intended, I felt the burning warmth of my face reddening further. "Calm down, you can't let this get out of hand..." Scolding myself, I left the door and crossed to the corner of the room where a full-length mirror hung. Imperial Knights are to pay close attention to their appearance, and so they are afforded the luxury of such a mirror. Rather than straightening my clothing, I changed into the violet dress hanging there. It wasn't the dress of a knight, but rather the battle dress of a girl. No matter how often I looked at myself, I remained ashamed of the look. However, if I backed out here, the courage it had taken to invite him would be wasted. "Calm yourself, Julia. He's waiting..." "You are Julia... a girl. You are Julia... a girl" Crossing swords with 100 opponents alone was trivial compared to the battle I now faced in the mirror. This battle was for but one man. He was a knight of Rolandia. The hero who had defeated the grotesque Gevel, and led three nations to peace. But none of that mattered to Julia. To her, he was the man who had returned femininity to her. When she suddenly appeared in a dress, how would he feel? "If I'm admired, I'll ask him to dance..." Having made up her mind, Julia turned to the mirror once more and recited the incantation. "You are Julia... a girl. You are Julia... a girl..." And as she recited the words, she did indeed grow to believe them again... which, of course, made her all the more attractive. o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Story 12: Kenshin- Oath (St00C) | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o "Do you really think the rumors that Richard isn't the King are true?" I asked this of my colleague Ernest Lyell as we walked the underground passage in the gloomy castle. "All I know is that such accusations should not be spoken without proof. At the very least, see what his mother believes." Lyell showed no sign of confusion. As usual, he was the portrait of calm amidst the storm. It was a bit irritating actually. "Well, what do you intend to do? Turn over Richard? I certainly don't want to. I want to protect him." "Of course. And so, I suppose I'll cooperate with the other side." The answer took me aback. Had Ernest admitted treason? "What>" "You protect Richard, Kenshin. I'll go to the other side. In that way, we should be able to learn who is truly for Burnstein Kingdom. With that, Lyell turned and walked away. It was a bold plan, but I wasn't comfortable with it. "Lyell, wait!" His eyes narrowed with suspicion as he turned without a word. "You protect Richard." "Why? You can be at his side just as well as I." "Well...you're not the best at deception...you know that." "Point taken. Fine. We'll do that." We silently returned to the hall together. I was convinced we had made the correct decision. I wish I would match his sword skills...the strongest should protect Richard. That night, I led the troops toward Shutsberg... o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Story 13: Richard- Inner Voice (St00D) | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o "Please stop, Your Majesty! The war and such..." "Damned annoying scoundrel! Put him in jail!" Having said that, I turned and left. Once I was certain I was out of sight, I leaned against the wall. As sweat rolled down my cheek, a moment of clarity hit. "What's wrong? My...body won't obey me. Did I really say that I desired war?" Somewhere within, I could hear a voice...grieving at the path I had chosen. "Shut up!" Muttering, I chased away the voice of reason within me. However, I was startled when a different voice answered. "I'm very sorry about this, Your Majesty." I had nearly exposed my cover, saved only by my indistinct muttering. "Ernest? What's wrong?" "What shall we do with Princess Letita? We still have the means to use her as a bargaining chip in negotiations for reparations...avoiding war." "Out of the question. Attempting to assassinate me should not be rewarded with money or territory!" "So we are to go to war, no matter what?" "Once they know the pain of war, they will not try something so foolish again." "As you will, Highness. Then what of the Princess?" "Keep her from my sight. I do not wish to see her...eyes. You are dismissed." At my order, the knight hung his head low with a sigh. "What's wrong? Leave already!" Crushed by my tone, he left. As I watched him disappear from the room, the voice within me returned. "Please, wait. Don't go, Ernest!" Just then he turned the corner and was gone. "Wait! Don't leave me alone!" A scream leaked out from a dark corner of my soul, causing a sharp pain to tear through my skull. I could not stop the putrid exhalation, and the stench overwhelmed the hall. "I can't let this...thing defeat me. I have endured for 14 years...I cannot stop now." Pushing myself from the wall, I began to walk again. A strong voice echoed in my head, as if to encourage me. "That's right, Richard...My ambitions depend on you. I won't let you rest until they are accomplished." "Yes, Master Gevel". As the sound of the heavy voice echoed within my head, the small voice within me fell silent. o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Story 14: Lyell- Determination (St00E) | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o Submitted by: InfinityDragonRyu "Gevel has been defeated." I would deliver the news to my friend Kenshin privately. Only his footsteps echoed in the dark, dank passage. "Ernest?" Although he couldn't yet see me, the muttering voice of a boy could be heard from the innermost part of the jail. The owner of the voice was sleeping, not on the simple bed, but spread-eagle on the stone floor. "Richard?!" "Don't make such a strange face. It's nothing..." While quietly saying that, he closed his eyes. For a moment, it seemed as if he might disappear. "Gevel... has been defeated." "I know. I felt it when it happened. It was as if suddenly all the strength was sucked from my body. I fell to the ground and lacked the strength to get up." As he related how his life was in danger, he spoke as if talking about another person. "Can't you stand?" "It's not that I lack the strength. It's just become a tiresome exercise." He spoke in an expressionless tone of voice as he rose with some effort. It was a peculiar show of courage, coming from this frail boy. I took off my glove and extended a hand into the iron latticework. Richard grasped it without hesitation. It was cold as stone, but strong. The hand which grasped mine betrayed his true condition more than any voice could. He was silently fighting death... a painful death. It was then I decided. "I want to protect this person." Even if it were to come at the cost of everything I had worked for, I would stand at his side. o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Story 15: Gina- Exasperation (St00F) | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o Submitted by: InfinityDragonRyu In a filthy underground cell, unable to get enough water, let alone food to satisfy him, a boy lay prostrate. The boy had been caught breaking into a landowner's manor. "This is terrible..." The man scowled while rising to fetch clean, hot water for the boy. The boy, a guard, and I waited. I moved closer and knelt at the boy's side. ". . ." He was moving his lips as if to say something, but no words were coming out. "Come now! Surely you can't stand guard as this child suffers!" "Once a brat has learned to steal, he'll steal again. You had best just let him die here... if you save him, he'll pay you back with vengeance." "Shut up!" The words were so sharp, they startled me. For the first time in my life, I screamed at the whim of my emotions. "He had to steal in order to live! If his parents hadn't abandoned him, it wouldn't have been necessary." I uttered the words without thinking... the words he had always said. He... An awkward silence chilled the air. "He" broke it by bringing the hot water. "What's wrong? What happened?!" Moments later, we were walking back toward the city, the boy carried on his back already sleeping fitfully. He said those simple words so suddenly. I was taken aback. "You know... for what you said to the guard," he continued. "I... I just didn't want your conduct to be laughed at." "Mmmm... yes. Well, instead of just defending me, I wish you truly understood how I think." "Ah..." I see... this is not giving up. His outlook was hopeful... always. Such is the excellence of humans. "The more I know of your way, the happier I am. I... is it all right if I stay with you a little longer... to help?" He took my hand with a smile. His hand was large and warm. o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Story 16: Gevel- Rebirth (St010) | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o Submitted by: InfinityDragonRyu . . . Pish . . . A the sharp sound of cracking entered my consciousness. My thoughts, suspended in a frozen "death", began to awaken. ". . . where is this place?" I strained to look at my surroundings, and soon realized I was restrained. Little by little, my memory returned. My body had been sealed within a magic crystal. The humans that had given life to me, making me fight for their benefit, had sealed me when I was no longer of use. Knowing that they lacked the power to take my life back, and fearing my strength, they sealed me within a magic crystal enriched with Grow to weaken me. It was an agony that far exceeded death. Wave after wave of Grow in the crystal ate away at my body, and no matter how hard I tried to twist to avoid the onslaught, the crystal remained unforgiving in its restraint. Would my life run out, or would the Grow dissipate first? In either case, the answer would not come for hundreds of years. Billions of agonizing seconds. But, how much time passed since then? I had no reference point to guess how much time had passed. I could only see that my body and the crystal prison that held me had both thinned considerably. . . . Pish . . . Another sharp sound... the magic crystal was cracking before my eyes. At last, the time has come... It was time to hunt again. But this time, I would hunt with a plan... my plan. I will rule humans not through direct conquest, but by means of artifice. Yes... human society itself will become my target. And with that realization, I shattered the thin veil of crystal that remained between me and my rebirth to power. O============================================================================O | Tippi's Diary (TipDi) | O============================================================================O - First Day - Rolandia Capital I've begun my adventure at last! According to Master, Carmaine hasn't gone outside even once! Even though this is my first time out in the world, I can't appear weak. I have to look strong! I need to do whatever I must to look strong, even though I am not really that way...yet. - At the Western Cape There are very strange things in this world. Today we met a ghost. I wonder what other strange things will happen... - Forest of Capital Carmain is very weak, but I didn't expect him to fall over. He disappeared when I went to summon someone and fell over again in Master's Lab. Being forced to defend this kind of weakling is embarrassing. I didn't know it would be like this... Oh well, I'm glad I saved the girl from the villian. It feels good when things to right. I wonder if I'll see Karene again? Oh well, I can worry about that later. Right now I have to concern myself with getting Master's stolen magic guidance book back... - Mountain Hut East of Deris Village I did it! I did it! I don't know how it happened, but I recovered the Master's nagic guidance research book! Wallace has an artificial arm and eye, which makes him much cooler than Julian. I get along with Wallace, but I can't stand Julian. He's way too stuck up for my taste. If I get the chance, I'll kick him! - Deris Village That thief is really getting on my nerves! The man who attacked Karene was wrecking the village. It's a good thing we were here, because if we weren't, there's no telling how much damage he would have caused. - Sandra Research Tower ~ Royal Castle Ahh! It's an emergency! We fought with strange masked men and Master was poisoned! According to Louise, Featherian science may be able to heal him...and so we have to find a Featherian. - Magic Academy I saw the Magic Academy where Louise is studying. That's a fantastic place! I don't have time to talk about that now, though. I need to find Ariost... and fast! - Grandshill City I met Karene once more, but she's still having problems with that thief attacking her. This time she was poisoned like my Master was...I hope she'll be okay. - Ruins North of Grandshill We managed to safely rescue Ariost in the Featherian ruins south of the Magic Academy! He said he was down there searching for parts for the levitation machine. Doesn't he know it's dangerous!? - Ariost's Lab Ooohh! I saw Ariost's flying machine! It's amazing, but a little...uh, scary. - Featheria I think I'm going to be sick...what are these bird peopl? I just want to go home... I...I have to do something, though. My Master is...oh, what do I do? What do I do? I have to learn more about these...these...Featherians. Maybe I can get a book somewhere... Oh...I almost forgot to mention...teleportation is convenient. - Magic Academy Library Some books at the Magic Academy talked about a man named Danny in Comsprings that knows all about Featherians. I need to find him, but Comsprings is in Burnstein...it's not safe to travel there right now... If only I could get an escort... - Bolognia Village ~ Ariost's Home I figured out a way to get to Comsprings. There's a contest held in Grandshill once a year...I have to win it. It's gonna be tough, though because Xenos is trying to win it, too. - Grandshill Arena I did it! I did it! I won! Yeaaaahhh! Now I'm one step closer to saving Master! - Comsprings I met Danny Grays in Comsprings. I learned a lot of things, and think it may be all right in the end with Master. I wonder if I can sense the beauty of humanity because the Master who created me is a human? It's such a mystery... Maybe I'll call myself Ultimate Matchless Magic Guidance Lifeform Tippi... ...but then again, that sounds kind of stuck up. Maybe I'll just stay Tippi. - Ruins North of Magic Academy I discovered a kidnapped Featherian Queen in the Ruins north of the Magic Academy! It was sooo exciting! I rescued her, but how did a normal human get to such a high place? It doesn't make any sense... - Rolandia Royal Castle I relied on Carmain'e abilities, but I found out later he was channeling Louise's power, too. Oh! I also accepted a change of duty from Princess Letitia... - Plains East of Forth Rargin That bandit Oswald came to cause trouble again. This time he brought his boss along with him to make even more trouble! Fortunately, an Imperial Knight and Lyell showed up and made a mess of them. I wonder if all Imperial Knights are that strong? O============================================================================O | Endings (En000) | O============================================================================O The following section is a run down of virtually all the character endings. Keep numerous backup saves you can use in battles when you're doing well that you can just restore if things to horribly wrong. -- Tip (Submitted by DB27) 1) If there is a "boss" amoung the enemy, always steal from him/her. 2) If possible, have the person who defeats the "boss" have Empower on to boost the level of the resultant ring you get. 3) All rewards for killing / thieving from enemies is determined at the start of the battle. If you don't like what you got, you will have to reload and re- initiate the battle from the map screen. Conversely, if you like what you got but didn't do well, load a save from within the battle and all the treasures will be the same. 4) If you go to the dam before "Max" destroys it, you can have an event where Hans goes fishing and "catches" a random level 3 gem (+/- a level, I think) 5) Art of Thievery (first able to buy at the Magic Academy) is a great thing to put on Charlone, since she can usually hit just about anything from where she starts but doesn't seem to get Thievery as a skill. You can also swap out Art of Thievery after you've used it (only affects the first hit of the battle from that character). 6) Don't forget you can swap gems in battle. This is especially useful for the Quickness gems (adds to MOV). Swap one in, go to where you need to go, then swap it back out for your battle gem. Absolutely necessary for Charlone in some of the battles (must be so top-heavy that she can't walk fast). 7) Get cure/healing for everyone who can get it. 8) Remember that some magic spells don't have a range limit and you don't need to see the target. Riviera can stay tucked in a corner and still contribute a lot to the battle. -- Tip (Submitted by Marc99) To get Wolfgangs path You have to get mission completes on all your missions (the test at the beginning doesn't count). After the wolfgang announcement if you go to the lower left corner of the screen you will trigger a battle. But before the battle if you got all mission completes he will ask you to join him and the battles from then on will be different.(if you chose to go with him) -- Tip (Submitted by Marc99) To get Lyell 1.during the magic schools book quest stay at his house by walking over it. 2.After you get Riveia go back to his place and pick the first option. 3- When Wolfgang makes the announcement go to yhe southern edge and trigger that battle and win. 4.After you bring supplies to the base, go to his cabin and pick the second option. -- Tip (Submitted by Zerios) Cat Girl Quest - Go to the magician academy, then talk to the Xenobiologist twice - Fight the catgirl at the path towards Grandshill - Talk to the Xenobiologist twice and say yes that you say the cat girl. - Head to south rachet north of the magician academy and shout if they are from mage academy then say yes to give her a name next time you see her. - Sometime during the real criminal quest, talk to the new guard at Starkburg after talking to the Inn Guest in comsprings to open a event in the ruins west of Starkburg, saving before hand is recommended. - While at the ruin mission with the catgirl, do not let the spikes kill her, finish the mission by having someone sprint off and turn off the switch or killing all enemies. - Talk to the angry farmer sometime in Rottenbaum Village, then visit the inn and view the scene with the cat girl. - head to Shwartofelz and see treasury, then select option 2 then 1 and Wein should talk to the litch. - go to Starkburg and visit the city at night. - Head to the ruins east of comsprings, and fight the litch. Constantly heal the catgirl then when given the chance tell her to come your way. - After the Black Reign mission, visit the good uncle in Zauerberg and say you found the gem from a catgirl, then respond truthfully. - Go to south starkburg and find the catgirl. - Visit Luga at the Inn in Zauerberg. -- Tip (Submitted by Red testament) During Wolfgang's storyline, eventually you'll chase after Commander Byron. When you have the option to capture him, you should let him go. At the very end of the game, you'll get a secret event worth seeing and a bonus battle that pits Wein and Wolfgang against Byron. -- Tip (Submitted by Kimber Boh) If you have enough Elm during the game (and this is inexpensive anyway), stay at the inns in every town after a major event takes place in the story. There are numerous scenes that are sparked by staying at certain inns during a specific timeframe. - One is staying at the Inn in Clain, I believe when you first start the quest for the true imposter: you get a scene where Hans and Wein go to the cemetary at night and find Xenos there. - Another is at Comsprings after you join the campaign (but before you visit King Elliotte): you get a scene with Riviera in the market. This scene is very funny, but you may need her friendship at 10/10 to trigger it. - There a several others, but I neglected to write them down. Also, if you visit the Inn at Schwartzfals after the boy mentions his father took in an injured man, you can then visit the guy 3 times to gain alot of insight into Wein's father and Wolfgang (the first time is before Wolfgang's announcement, second is right after the announcement, and third is when you are sent to Comsprings to help Logan). -- Tip (Submitted by Vendetta Morendo) The neural armors are pretty susceptible to lightning and that equipping gems that give your weapon that element can make fights against them a good deal easier -- Tip (Submitted by Thanatos2k) Once you have access to the Bonus Battle in the arena, in which you fight a dozen or so of the gold slimes, all you need is the "Double Rings" lvl 9 gem. Slap it onto your favorite mage (Arietta, Riviera, whoever) and have them use the skill "Strengthen Magic" on Quake. Even at level 1 it'll wipe the slimes off the battlefield. Since ring quality is loosely related to the strength of the attack and since the slimes are high caliber enemies anyways, you net a crapload of very high quality rings, many of them 9-9-9. You can find the ones best for your party and sell the rest for craploads of cash! You need the Double Rings because you only get 15000 from winning the battle, and it costs 40000 to enter. However, selling excess rings easily gets you the extra 25k and then some! Sleep at the inn and repeat until you've done. Though you will be certainly deep into the game when you can beat Master level at the arena anyways.....regardless, I'm happy with my legit ring massing. -- Tip (Submitted by Another Denshuu) On the world map press: Up, Right, L2, L2, Down, R2, R2, Up, Down, R2, L2, Right, Left, O, O, O You will receive 9 of every armour and gem in the game. ****************************************************************************** * * * _____ __ ____________ * * / ___/______ _ __/ /__ ____ ___ ___ ____ / _/ _/ _/ * * / (_ / __/ _ \ |/|/ / / _ `/ _ \(_- 1 Lv2 Gem or Elm equivalent 8th Match Cleared -> 1 Lv3 Gem or Elm equivalent 9th Match Cleared -> 1 Lv4 Gem or Elm equivalent 10th Match Cleared -> 2 Lv4 Gems or Elm equivalent 11th Match Cleared -> 1 Lv5 Gem or Elm equivalent 12th Match Cleared -> 2 Lv5 Gems or Elm equivalent o-------------------------o | Silver Class Tournament |------------------------------------------(Sa003)-o o-------------------------o This is another twelve round tournament that pits you against two monsters per round. O============================================================================O | Importing Characters (Ic000) | O============================================================================O Any character's endings you got in Growlanser II can be imported and used in Growlanser III (except for Sereb) by completing a small task with Viktor. The following was submitted by Maytree: Step One: At some point, have Viktor read the book in the top floor of the Bibliostock Imperial Library titled something like "How to Make a Space-Time Fusion Device". You don't need to do this the very first time you go there -- you have limited time to read books on your first visit and there are others more immediately useful, since you can't get one of the parts for the device until after the Library is completely opened up anyway. Step Two: Do before or after Step Three, whatever you like (or whenever you can, power-wise): Go to the arena with Slayn, and win all the 1-on-1 battles. After you do this, the 2-on-2 and 4-on-4 battles open up. There are various nice prizes offered, but the one you want is the prize for winning the very first 4-on-4 battle. It's the Power Stone. If you can get Slayn through the 1- on-1 battles the 4-on-4 should be a breeze. Step Three: You can't do this until quite late in the game, so don't bother trying ;) To get the Mind Interface Metal (I think that name is slightly wrong but you'll know the stuff when you see it), take Viktor to Lindenberg after you win the battle there and have him fix the teleport device. He'll find a piece of the metal stuck in the works and pull it out. This is the only place to get it I know of, and as I said, you have NO access to it until quite late in the game, so don't go crazy trying to find it earlier. Final Step: just kick Viktor out of your active party (you mostly don't want him there, anyway, you want him in the lab making stat uppers and such for you) then go show him the Power Stone. If you have both items and he's read the book, he'll immediately build the device. Then you'll start getting system messages about inserting cards with GL2 saves, and how it goes from there I can't tell you because none of my GL2 saves register (which isn't bloody fair, I completed the game, I should at least get WEIN, shouldn't I??? Sheesh.) Port Delfinia Tourist Information: Delfinia's port is the largest in the region. Its lighthouse is not only functional, but an extremely attractive example of modern architecture. Tourists wishing to get the best view of the lighthouse are advised to stand near the corner of the mayor's house in the center of town. Magic Techniques: Magic Attributes Each offensive magic has an attribute, so magics must be chosen to specifically target enemy weaknesses. For example, Ground Magic has no effect on flying enemies and would be wasted if cast, while Wind Magic would be very effective on flying enemies. Magic Techniques: Supportive Magic There are three main classes of magic: offensive, healing, and supportive. Supportive magic is easy to forget about or underestimate, but it can provide a strong advantage in diffucult battles when used correctly. Another advantage to supportive magics is that they can be pre-cast, so for those situations where a battle is imminent, the magic can already be in play and benefiting your pary. Transfer Gate Teleportation Thoery Transfer Gates, which provide near-instantaneous transportation from one gate to another, were invented by Sir Nada in partnership with the Featherians. The units use a Time Crystal to warp space, making such travel possible. Sir Nada calculated the formulas the devices use, and the Featherians created the devices to his specifications. There are two types of Transfer Gates, One-t to-One and Central-Gather. Purity Dress A shiny dress made from cloth embedded with magic crystals. Extremely thin, but very good at absorbing enemy attacks. Fashioning clothing from Light Cloth requires advanced sewing skills. Rainbow Feather Robe A beautiful multi-colored robe of heavenly thread. The robe was given to a wise beast by a heavenly maiden long ago. One with a pure mind might be able to petition the beast to obtain it. Final Guard A reinforced jacket made from silk thread called Graphnil. The defensive properties of this thread is far beyond that of simple metals. The only known Final Guard is kept by the Arena master, and given to the champion each year. The Life and Times of Sir Nada Vol. 1 Sir Nada did not begin his life as a great inventor, but rather a troubled youth. He rarely went to school, choosing instead to lock himself in the library to read what he wanted. As a result, he fared poorly in History, Literature, Personal Growth, and Cooking. However, he excelled at the study of magic, amazing even his instructors. Transfer Gate theory was developed by Sir Nada while still a student. The Life and Times of Sir Nada Vol. 2 At 18, Sir Nada set out for the Kirschland Continent and set course for Rolandia. He intended to mine for Time Crystals to test his theories. With the help of Featherians, who took an interest in his work, he struck a productive vein of Time Crystal. Featherian Science was combined with Sir Nada's theories to create the Transfer Gates used today. The Life and Times of Sir Nada Vol. 3 Sir Nada's partnership with Featherians bore much fruit. He invented many kinds of magical devices and was taken into service as the Court Magician of Rolandia, eventually receiving the title of "Sir". Eventually his interest was drawn to non-device oriented magics much as the "Meteor" Cooperation magic and the Summon technique. Old and satisfied he died at the age of 194. o----------------o | 7F ~ Top Floor |---------------------------------------------------(Bs003)-o o----------------o Advanced Magic for Eggheads: Each kind of magic requires a certain mental state. As that was happening, they flooded Port Delfinia with refugees to overcome James' Faction troops and moved in to occupy the port when the other troops were driven out. I just did. -- Getting the Dark Tree Root (Submitted by Maytree) In the boss fight where Slayn races a Guardian to reach the big Dark Crystal under Dark Mountain, look at the bottom of the screen. The Guardian's usual position is standing watch over a chest. The Dark Tree Root is in that chest. The easiest way to get it is to have Hugh Dash over and snap it up while the Guardian is trying to catch Slayn -- just make sure Slayn doesn't reach the crystal too fast and end the fight, because the Guardian will resume its place in front of the chest when the fight is over! So get to the chest during the battle. I don't know if you can kill the Guardian and get free access to the chest after the battle; I intend to try that this time around. The Guardian is a level 50 Arch Fiend and they're pretty tough, so I don't know if killing it the first time through is realistic without a lot of tiresome leveling up. However, this time I have my super Rings and gems all set, and I've been using the level 8 stat power-ups since almost the start of the game, so I figure that Arch Fiend will be Arch Fiend cutlets by the time Slayn makes it back to Dark Mountain on this play through. Oh, and an addendum for clarity's sake: The room I'm talking about is in the Trial Caves. You can't get in there on your first visit to Dark Mountain. You won't get in there until the plot sends you there, so don't waste time and effort trying. Just be patient and grab the Dark Tree Root when the time is right. (Save before you go into that boss battle so you don't miss it by accident or bad luck, natch.) -- Randolf's Sidequest (Submitted by Maytree) In GL3, the main character has a history with an assassin named Randolf. The issue will go unresolved, however, unless you do certain things during the game; you won't automatically end up facing down Randolf in the normal course of things unless you put in a little extra effort. So here's how to do it, if you want to: The first part happens automatically. When you sleep at the hotel in Falkenfreuk during the night of the Dark Crystal ritual, your main character is visited by a guy named Tony. No matter what dialog choices you make, Tony will divulge some useful information and promise to contact you later. The next part you have to do yourself, as the game at no time makes you do so: Spend another night at Falkenfreuk. (I did this during the Aggressival occupation, as the city was available then; there is at least one, possibly more, long stretch of time in the game where the city is not accessible to your party.) Tony will pay the main character another visit and offer to help smoke out Randolf. When you return to your home base in Voltone, dismiss your party and go to the spy guy who does off-sheet reports. Choose "I have a request", select "Set Up Randolf", and pay the fee. Then go do an event battle. Check back after the event and see if the finished report is there. When I did this, the report was there instantly, but I did it very late in the game, so there may be timing issues if you do it earlier. After you have read the completed report, sleep in your apartment in Voltone. At some point (probably determined by the game by some standard of your readiness, since you have no choice about starting this battle) Tony will knock on your door in Voltone and tell you where to find Randolf. You will automatically go to the rendezvous location -- you can't turn this down, which is why there is probably a timing element in the game before which Tony's final visit won't happen. Randolf is level 39 and has between 500 and 700 hit points (I couldn't narrow it down further because my main character was too powerful at that point and his killing blow did 177 points -- so I can say Randolf has more than 500, but I don't know if he has 501, or 677 HP). After you finish this, you should take the Keepsake Ring to a girl in Toaberia and get the quite nice Level 9 Rainbow's End gem in return. -- Space-Time Resistor (Submitted by RaptureII and Maytree) I also have discovered another item. It is the Space-Time Resistor. It is supposed to cancel the power of the Space-Time Crystal, but I haven't gotten a chance to use it yet. You get it by first talking to Viktor after the second Clive fight. He will say he can make a device to cancel out the Space-Time Crystal if you bring him something that vibrates on the same wavelength(or something like that). You then go to the mines where you originally got the second space-time crystal and go to the bottom. You will find some time crystal ore. Show it to Viktor and he will make you the device. The device comes into play during the secon-to-last battle in the game. -- Get High-end RIngs Early (Submitted by Kimber Boh) Here's a helpful tip for those finding it difficult to get high-end Rings early in GL3. If you level up your characters consistently between story battles and random encounters, you should have a good chance of accomplishing this. 1) Learn Thievery on Hugh as soon as possible. 2) When you reach the battle against Clive in the Rolandia Mines, have Hugh use Dash and then Thievery on Clive when he's casting a spell. Clive will drop a random level 6 gem. Keep resetting your game until Clive drops either an Art of Thievery (which I got), or a Ring Replica gem. 3) If you get an Art of Thievery off Clive and not a Ring Replica, equip it on Monika. Now you have 2 people who can steal- Hugh and Monika. Steal from every boss or high-level enemy in story battles. When you return to Bornia, I had Hugh steal from Randolph before Orpheus beats him. This netted me the awesome level 6 Ring Replica gem. 4) Proceed to the Prisoner's Tower quest, making sure you've leveled to around level 20-22. Make sure Hugh, Annette, and Slayn have the techs Dash and Critical Hit (these you should've learned real early on anyway). Since you are higher level than the game figures you'll be, surround and gank the iron guardian after you kill the two mages. Steal from it, and pummel it (healing as needed with spells or items). By killing it yourself, it will drop a super high-end Ring. I got a 9-9-5! Then unlock the two doors and steal then pummel the two tribes. 5) Now you have a ridiculously high-end Ring rather early in the game. If you want, use a couple of Fairy Tears on it to get it to 9-9-9 if you like. Equip the Ring on Slayn (or whoever) and the Ring Replica gem on it. Kill 25 low- level wimps around Falkenfreuk until the Ring replicates. Rinse and repeat twice more, and now all 4 of your characters have a 9-9-9 Ring at about the 1/4 (maybe 1/3) mark of the game! -- Co-op Magic (Submitted by RaptureII) Before you can cast co-op magic you must have mastered the cooperation skill (I'm assuming you know how to get this). Following this you are able to cast co-op magic if two people have compatible spells ready to cast. If I remember right if the spells are of the same type the levels add together for the level of the spell and different type magics combined average the levels. You can combine any(I think) of the basic four elemental magics to get more powerful magics. I think you can also combine two of the same spell to either get a better spell or a faster way to cast a high level version of the spell. You can combine a wind type spell with a spirit type spell or another type(forgot what) to get powerful spells(I think spirit gets you soul force). Later in the game you will get a spell called blast from the guy who teaches you co-op magic. You can combine this spell with the four primary elemental spells to create spells such as earthquake or cyclone. ****************************************************************************** * Growlanser II List (GII00) * ****************************************************************************** Note: The Growlanser III walkthrough has ended, this is a list of magic and item for Growlanser II.
