New York Chris Senn 6. Ruins a. Carlos DeAndrade b. Rick McCrank ------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Why did I write this FAQ? Good question. I think it's cause finding all the skateboards in this game is a great hassle, and I just didn't want for the other four people who actually play this game to go through the same crap I did, particularly because the game doesn't really reward you for busting your ass to get these worthless things. Also I have a lot of free time on my hands. A lot. ------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Why should you play this game? Simple answer, THPS3 doesn't come out till October 30th, 2001. What else are you going to do till then? ------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Where are the hidden skateboards? ------------------------------------------------------------------- A. Normal Mode ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Los Angeles ------------------------------------------------------------------- a. Bob - Begin the level by taking a right and following the road. Pass the first place you can turn left at, and the four planters that follow that. Now, there will be a stone wall off to the left, and a small opening before the grass turns into a ledge. Take this turn, and jump over the walls using the ramp provided. Continue skating to the next ramp, don't jump it. Just skate up it and launch off the next ramp over the fence into the front yard. It's on the car. b. Chris - Begin the level by taking a left and following the road. Almost immediately there will be a quarter pipe off to the left. Skate up it at an angle, grind the lip, jump up and grind the fence and jump off the fence to the left. Try not to jump over the stone wall, but if you do, just turn around and take the ramp over the fence. It's in that area. If you can not find it, do yourself a favor, and turn off the game. Then jump out a window. c. Chad - Start the level out the same way you did Bob's. If you did not do Bob's, read it, and follow it. And stop being a smart- ass. Follow that until you get to the ramp you don't jump. Instead of jumping the next ramp, powerslide to a stop. Then turn right. It's right there, on a ledge. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Museum ------------------------------------------------------------------- a. Kerry - Ok, follow the hall until you get into the first room with a dinosaur skeleton. Go up the ramp at the far end, and take a right. Then, when the rail ends, turn right and jump the gap. It's at the end of that ledge. b. Rick - First, follow the hallways until you reach the room with a Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton and a Diplodocus. Follow the ramp by the entrance to the top. Then, jump from that ledge and grind down the Diplodocus' spine. c. Carlos - This one is such a bitch. Follow the steps for Rick's, but instead of grinding down the Diplodocus, grind down the T-Rex. Follow the spine to a hall, follow the hall to the room where you got (or didn't get) Kerry's. Grind yet another dinosaur spine, and follow it to yet another hall. Follow this hall, until you get into a room with a ledge with a ramp at the end of it, leading up to a Pterodactyl. That's right, bitch. Grind the ho. When you jump up to it, make sure you land on it early so you can press and hold X for as long as you can before you jump, cause you have to jump onto a suspended platform. Then, grind the next Pterodactyl, and jump off his ass into a nest of eggs, at the center of which is the board. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. San Francisco ------------------------------------------------------------------- a. Chris - This one is damn easy. Take the first left. Follow it to the end, the board is in the yard of the building with the huge curved structure, off to the left. b. Lincoln - This one is a bit harder. But, it's cool cause you get to jump from one building to another across a road. Take the first left, and take the right at the end of that road. Now, go this way to the end, and stop at that corner. Face the building at the corner. There will be a ramp there. Jump onto the building. Now, stick to the right of that building and follow it to the end. There will be a rail in front of you leading you to the next roof. Grind it, and follow that path around and up a ramp to this roof- o-ramps. (Kinda resembles the one in the THPS Downtown Minnesota stage, doesn't it?) OK, there is one ramp that is not a quarter pipe. Get enough speed and take it to bust a 360° Kickflip to Indy across the street to the building on the other side. Now, take a right to drop down two ledges and grind the rail in front of you. This will take you to the room where the X-Games logo is. Now, go through the window exactly opposite the one you just came into. Skate off the ledge and drop all the way down into the grassy area His board is at the far side. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Passenger Liner ------------------------------------------------------------------- a. Colin - Start out going straight, across the pool, you can take either the left or right corridor. At any rate, whichever side you are on, turn the opposite direction at the second corridor. Now, turn the same direction to get going up the ramp. At the end of the ramp, take a left, then a right, then proceed for a couple of seconds. Now, turn around, and take that ramp up to the next level. OK, now, nice and easy, take the ramp to the end, and there is a rail running parallel to your path, but a bit off to the left. Take this rail, skate forward, clear the gap with a backside 180°, skate forward some more, and turn slightly left to stay on the platform. At the end of this platform is a rail that you can grind. At the end of it is Colin McKay's board. b. Kerry - Follow the colin instructions, but once you get up that ramp to the top floor of the ship, don't turn around. (Just like that shitty Ace of Base Song) OK, at the end, there will be two quarter pipes, with a ramp betwixt them. Build up speed with the quarter pipes and jump off the ramp. That's where the board is. c. Rick - Simply go to the other end of the ship from the start. Here there is a little construction consisting of ramps and a rail to grind toward the end of the ship, this is where his board is. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. New York ------------------------------------------------------------------- a. Chris - Start off by going across the bridge to the left of where you start out. Then, go left around that car/rails thingy. So, now continue straight toward a ledge with a stair set on the lefthand side. Grind the corner, and hold triangle, which will lead you to a rail, and finally dump you off on a ledge. Jump from here to the first gas pump top, then jump from there to the second. This is where the board is. I find it's easier if you grind the first gas pump top. b. Lincoln - Follow Chris' instructions. This will leave you near the base of the gas pumps. Skate up the truck, jump and grind the power lines running over the fence. Now that you are in the subway station, travel to the end. Use the quarter pipe to gain speed. Now use the ramp it leads you to to grind the rails to the suspended platform ahead of you. Then turn around, perhaps using the quarter pipe up there. Grind back across the rails and stop on that platform. If you are facing the benches, jump over to the subway on the left. Follow this to the left to get Lincoln's board. c. Bob - Cross the bridge, and stick left in the next area. There is a semi there with a ramp leading into another area on the left. Take this ramp to the next area, and take a right up a ramp in that area to lead to the roof of a building. Go right, and grind the rail on that side of the building toward the right. Continue grinding this assortment of rails until you drop off onto the semi from earlier. Jump off the back end of the truck and grind a power line running to the next roof. From here, continue to go straight and grind another power line to yet another building. Drop off this building into a fenced in area, Bob's deck is in the far corner. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. Ruins ------------------------------------------------------------------- OK, to start with. Begin the level, and follow the path to the left beyond that destroyed wall. Go to the end, take a right, go up the ramp and take a left. Build up some speed on this halfpipe here, then launch off the ramp and grind the stone thing that is in front of you. Continue until there's nothing left to grind. Stop at the platform it leaves you on. There is a ramp to the left that leads over a gap to a half pipe. Build up some speed on the quarter pipe there and take the ramp. Go straight and grind down the rail in front of you. Grind the lip to your right around the corner. Here, there is a rail leading up a hill and to the right of that, a wood log. Grind this. It will open a door and make your life easier. Plus I'm assuming you've done this in these explainations. a. Carlos - Start by going up the ramp, and to the right around the platform in front of you. Take a left after that, and follow the ramps upward. Go left and take another ramp up to a platform with a quarter pipe connected to another quarter pipe on another platform. Grind all the way across this structure. Drop off the ledge it ends with to the right. This is where this deck is. b. Colin - Do this the same way as Carlos' but don't grind the lip of the quarter pipe on the platform leading to the other quarter pipe on the other platform. Instead, line yourself up with the 3 upwards arrows on the right of that quarter pipe and hold up. His deck is on the platform you land on. ------------------------------------------------------------------- B. Another Mode (I don't know why they didn't just say HARD) ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Los Angeles ------------------------------------------------------------------- Chad - Begin the level by taking a right and following the road. Pass the first place you can turn left at, and the four planters that follow that. Now, there will be a stone wall off to the left, and a small opening before the grass turns into a ledge. Take this turn, and the board is right beyond the first corner. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Museum ------------------------------------------------------------------- Colin - Start out and follow the hallway into the second room. The deck is in the dinosaur's ribcage. I find that trying to get this by launching off those ramps at the base of the dinosaur is really frustrating. The easiest way to do this is to go on to the third room, grind the T-Rex. Then go on through the hallway, grind the dinosaur to the other side. Then turn around and drop off the ledge to get the deck. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. San Francisco ------------------------------------------------------------------- a. Lincoln - This is one slippery bastard. At the beginning of the level, turn around. I spent an hour looking for that ho. b. Bob - At the far corner of the level, use the ramp to jump up to the roof. Then, go straight, grind the building-to-building rail, follow that around to the top of the building. Launch off the ramp across the street to the other roof, drop off 2 ledges and grind the rail across. When you crash through the window, go through the window left of the one across from the one you came through. Off to the left, there is a ramp leading off the roof. Bob's deck is beyond this. So, just stop off to the right of the ramp, turn left and proceed. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Passenger Liner ------------------------------------------------------------------- Kerry - This one's easy. Turn around. Grind up the rail. It works better if you don't jump onto the rail, but just grind all the way. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. New York ------------------------------------------------------------------- Chris - OK, another fairly easy one, if you know where it is. Go across the bridge, then over the ramp by the semi off to the left. Go up the ramp on the right, and turn around. It's in the air off to the right over the ramp. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. Ruins ------------------------------------------------------------------- OK, start the level off just like I told you in Normal Mode a. Carlos - Start off by going straight up that ramp. Keep going straight until you can't, and take a left up the two ramps with the rails are. Take those, go left and take the next ramp. Take a sharp right, and continue to climb up that ramp. Use the quarter pipe to the left to build speed, and jump the first gap and stop. Go to the point on that platform furthest from the corner and line yourself up for the leap. b. Rick - Do this the same way, but when it comes to the last plat- form on Carlos', jump to the next platform, then again, and again. When youreach the end, there is an opening to a cave. Go in, and follow that path until it leads you to a track. Use the track to grind all the way to Rick's deck. It may take a few tries. It also helps if you don't try to grind all the way, and just skate on the track for a while.
