Updates/Revision History =============================================================================== Version 0.40 (10/01/01) ------------------------- • Everything you see here. Still need to add Quests, Boss Strategies, and the rest of the Enemy Guide. So far this guide only covers the Dreamcast version of the game, since the GameCube version isn't out yet (neither is the GameCube). =============================================================================== 01. Walkthrough =============================================================================== Begin by following the path, until you see a giant, yellow-glowing orb to your left. Approach it, and Dante will take it. This is the YELLOW ORB. Once you have it, continue following the path until you enter the castle, and begin your first mission. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mission 1: Curse of the Bloody Puppets ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Break the evil spell and open the cursed door.] Start this mission by running to the right of the large staircase, and jumping into the air to grab the RED ORBS near the staircase, then take the RED ORBS that are across the staircase, near a blue-ish door. Head up the stairs and go right, and snatch the RED ORBS at the top. Go right, since there's no other way to go, and approach the Statue of Time, and jump to get the RED ORBS above it. Now examine the Statue of Time, and read what it has to say. It says you should unseal the door beneath it before it responds, so return to the 1st floor and approach the door beneath the Statue (it's a giant, glowing red door). After examining the red door, it says you need 45 Red Orbs to open it, so return back upstairs to the Statue of Time, and hop on top of it, then jump onto the next floor, where you will see more RED ORBS. Continue to the right, and follow the catwalk around the floor and grab every RED ORB that's lying around. By the time you reach the dead end, you should have about 36 Red Orbs, total. Go back to the Statue of Time, and jump across to the other side of the Statue. Follow the catwalk around to the left, and make the first leap across the chasm, then the second leap onto the lower floor, where more RED ORBS are waiting. Take them all, then go back down to the 1st floor, and use 45 RED ORBS to open the red door. Enter it. Once in the next room, approach the 4 knight armors on the wall, and slash them with your sword to get a BLUE ORB FRAGMENT and some RED ORBS. Now enter the small door next to the door you entered the room in. In this room, head to Dante's left, and go up the winding stairs until you reach the top, and enter the room. Examine the puppet on the floor, and as you pass it, the camera will focus on the RED ORB in the room above. Jump onto the bookcase near the puppet and jump into the room above you. Take the RED ORBS at the top, then examine the standing puppet with a yellow item in it's hand. Take the RUSTY KEY. Now take the RED ORB on the table, then hop down back through the hole in the floor and go back to the 2nd floor. Kill the now-alive puppet down here, then enter the only other door you haven't entered, near the puppet. In here, approach the large central platform, and examine it to see that there are 3 slots to put items into the platform. Hop into the water to the left of the platform to find a BLUE ORB FRAGMENT, then hop back out of the water. You can't do anything else in this room for now, so remember it for later, then fight your way back to the main room on the 1st floor (where the giant staircase is). Locate the blue-ish door across from the giant staircase, and use the RUSTY KEY on the door to unlock it and proceed to enter it. In the bi-plane room, there are some hanging puppets on the ceiling, and another large door near where you enter. Try to open the door, and it tells you that there will be no admittance as long as it's 17 masters are here. Hop onto the bi-plane, and take the BLUE ORB FRAGMENT. Approach the emblem towards the back of the room, and attack it with your sword as much as you can, until the writing on the emblem completely fills up, in which case, you will be lowered into another room filled with enemies. Destroy them all, then return back up the small lift and into the bi-plane room, where more baddies await. Kill them all, and the door nearby door will become unlocked. Enter it to clear the first mission. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mission 2: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ ] =============================================================================== 02. Enemies =============================================================================== NOTE: All enemy descriptions are taken directly from the Devil May Cry instruction manual. -------------- - Marionette - -------------- As the name suggests, these enemies are controlled by the power of the devil's impure strings. At a glance, they seem slow, weak and easy to fight. However, beware the evil trap. Once Marionettes see their prey, they attack with their sword and scatter nimbly and accurately. They sometimes throw their weapons at distant enemies. Some may already be armed with projectiles when you meet them. --------------------------- - Sin Scissors/Sin Scythe - --------------------------- Their appearance - floating midair in long black cloaks, wielding a huge scythe and scissors - may remind one of the Grim Reaper. However, the Grim Reaper only harvests dead human's souls. These devils decapitate humans while they're still alive! When confronting them, aim at their masks. It's useless to attack their bodies, arms or legs. ---------- - Shadow - ---------- Resembling beasts of the cat family, Shadows can move extremely fast and baffle their opponents. However, that is not the only weapon in these cunning devil's arsenal. They sometimes change their body shape dramatically to finish off their prey. In fact, they are shapeless evil spirits with no substance. They enter the human world by wrapping their spirits with black magic. Sword attacks won't work against them, but projectile attacks will. --------------- - Nelo Angelo - --------------- Since many of the greater devils appearing in literature were once greater angels, it is not surprising that this is black knight is called Nelo Angelo, the "black angel". It is said that he fights his enemies fairly and squarely, a rarity in a warrior from hell. If he is truely a practitioner of honor, why does he follow the Dark Power? ------------ - Phantom - ------------ As far as we know, the biggest threat of the Dark Army is the Phantom. It resembles a spider, but its body is as gargantuan as an elephant's and its shell harder than a rock. It's blood, when shed, is made of scorching lava reminiscent of the flaming rivers of hell. This monster often leaves a trail of fire as it walks. Phantom may be one of the highest-ranking generals in the Devil Kingdom, but since nobody has ever returned to tell tales, even more powerful devils could exist there. ¸__.-» This document Copyright © 2000-2001 Nemesis.
