Updates---- ****************** ================================================================================================= Version 0.1 Initial Release (submitted 11/9/02) Although this is only the first version, it may well be the last, as the walkthrough is complete and I see nothing to add. But I'm not going to confirm this as the final version just yet... Version 0.2 (Final) Submitted 28/9/02 OK, this is it. Changed general presentation of the guide and changed my alias (the 54321 at the end sounded stupid). Added weapons section for those without the game manual or who don't know which gun is which. Nothing really major will be added from now onwards unless it's a brilliant idea. ================================================================================================= *********************** ----3. Introduction---- *********************** ================================================================================================= Welcome to my MOHU mission seven walkthrough! Mission seven is the second hardest mission, and the levels (especially the first) test even the best MOHU players. I must have died more than twenty times while completing it, and another fifty while writing this walkthrough. I have also included a list of the unlockable cheats in the game (called "secret codes" in the options menu) and what they do because the names don't tell the player anything (I had no idea what "podoski mode" mode meant at first). Anyway, on with the FAQ! ================================================================================================= ********************** ----4. Walkthrough---- ********************** ================================================================================================= ------------------ Mission 7, Level 1 ------------------ Final Uprising Objectives: Find petrol bomb cache, destroy all half tracks, neutralise prefecture guards, enter the paris prefecture. You begin the mission at the top of a long road. Just walk forwards until you spot a flaming oil drum. Move slightly to the left and you will see a guard with his back to you. Pop this fool in the head and collect his ammo. Go over to the corner opposite the oil drum to collect some petrol bombs and tick off the first objective. Now turn left along the bridge and two enemies materialise. Try to get them in the head, or you could end up taking a lot damage. Use the pillars on the left and right of the bridge as cover. They leave you a medicinal canteen and some ammo. At the end of the bridge, turn right and take out a guard as he leaps over the rail. Now run into the road to see a goon jump out of a window on the right and another shoot at you from the left. Go behind the corner and wait for one of the guards to appear. Kill him with the SMG you should by now have and turn back to take out the other one (he's hiding behind a box). Further down the road another soldier will shoot at you. Run for cover and kill him or take him out straight away. Before long a guard will fall from a window on the left side of the road and two mor will run towards you. Hide in one of the doorways and kill them as they arrive (sometimes they don't run to you, in which case you will have to leave your defensive position and fight them in the open). When you have dealt with this threat, you can turn left or go forward to behind the sandbags and take the SMG ammo and field surgeon pack. Once you've turned left, hug the left wall until you see a soldier on a low balcony. Shoot him in the head. Now let your presence be known to the rest of the guards in this street by running into the road while strafing, then immediately retreating to behind the corner again. Take them out as they come. Go back into the street and kill the remaining guards. You will see two paths; one is under an archway and the other is an alley to the left of that. Although you can take just one, I recommend clearing out both to be safe. If you go under the archway, you'll meet with four guards. Retreat if you need to, and by the time they're dead you should have three medkits littering the street. Collect the ones left by the guards first, as they disappear after a while. Try to leave a medkit in reserve (and this strategy applies to everywhere in the game) so that if you're injured or low on health you have something to fall back on. The alley contains three guards. To kill the first, blow up the oil drum, shoot the second and use your sniper rifle to kill the third, who is leaning over a balcony railing. Go up the small fight of steps and immediately turn right while shooting to kill the guard waiting there easily. You will now be in yet another dark street containing three enemies and a sniper at the top (on a balcony as usual). Use strafing and retreating techniques to clear it out and enter a much wider street. As usual, retreat and kill the one to three guards who rush at you. Now enter the street but BE CAREFUL! About three more guards await, and two jump from windows. If you turn right and walk to the end of the road, you will be confronted with parasols, some gates and a guard. Only the guard puts up much of a fight, and when he's dead there is a field surgeon pack and petrol bombs behind the gates. Turn around and turn right at the end of this big street to find two guards (I'm sure you know how to deal with these guys by now) and the end of the "easy" section of this mission. The next section is quite difficult, and looks roughly like this: _____________| + |_____________________________ G=Normal Guard | + | G | | S=Sniper | + |_____| | B=Bazooka Guard | + | W=Guard who jumps from Window | B G + | H=Half Track | + |S *=Where you start | H + | +=Path(not including retreating, | + | hiding etc.). | + | | + | |_____________ + __________________________| W | + | W | + Sx2 | | + |___________ | ++++ | | + /\ G | | + Gx2 \/ | | + ___________| | + | | + | | H + | | + |_ | + G_| | +G | | + | | + |_______ | +++++* | | | |______________________ Turn the corner slightly then retreat immediately. Shoot the guard who appears a few seconds later. Turn the corner a gain and move a little further forward and retreat for guard two. Go back and as soon as you hear an engine sound, retreat round the corner again. Move back a little and get out petrol bombs. Eventually a half track will appear. Throw a petrol bomb (make sure you aim upwards with R2) a few times and it should blow up while you take minimum damage. Now move forward and kill the soldiers between the pillars and the one behind the post. Now be careful, as there are two snipers here, one on a higher balcony and below that. Use your sniper rifle to kill them from a (hopefully) safe distance. Now comes the tricky part. There are several ways to complete this courtyard, but this way is fairly reliable and I hope it helps. Until the guards, and more importantly the bazooka guy, see you, you're safe so stand beneath the balconies where the snipers were and shoot the half track with your sniper (you should have enough ammo if you've been using your SMG). When it's gone, you'll complete an objective. Now creep forward until you see a guy behind a sort of fortification made of sandbags. Shoot him and look a little to the left. A couple of guards should be there. If they're not, move forward until they are visible and shoot the guy with the big gun FAST regardless of accuracy if you don't want to end up with a Panzerfaust shell up your ass. Kill the other one and then hunt down the remaining guards (I've shown their locations on the map). If you left any, go and collect some medkits as the chances are you'll be needing them by now. Then proceed into the crate area. As soon as you enter this section, run diagonally right and shoot the guards (either one or two) as one has a bazooka. Now turn 180 degrees to face and gun down three more men. If you need it, there's a field surgeon pack at the entrance of the crate area and the first and third of the three boxes stnding diagonally contain petrol bombs and ammo respectively. Now go through the opening in the top right hand corner and kill anyone here. Here comes the final, hardest part of this anoying level. Nervous? Face the right wall and strafe left until you see three guards who shouldn't notice you. Deal with them and collect the medkit (if necessary). This is the last road, and in each of the doorways you should stop and kill those who come to you (beware! in the second doorway two guards jump out of a window) as there in the region of ten enemies here. At the end of the road are some oil drums, shoot them to eliminate some more guards. To the left halfway down the street is a guard post and the entrance to the prefecture. Kill the three goons here and make sure you don't go in until a message appears confirming that all guards are dead (an objective). Phew! Congratulations! You've completed the most frustrating, boring, long and difficult (yes, in my opinion this is harder than the mission eight Panzerknacker levels) level in the game. ----------------- Mision 7, Level 2 ----------------- Street By Street Objectives: Neutralise barricade guards, find subway map, enter marketplace. In the first two rooms are a field surgeon pack and petrol bombs. As always, you start with the same ammo as you ended the last mission with, so I hope you didn't use up _too_ much of it (can't blame you if you did). Don't shoot the blue guy, he's on your team and nine times out of ten he will kill the first enemy for you. If he dies kill the enemy yourself (don't fret if he does; your allies are only bullet fodder anyway, and get killed quickly). I won't warn you to watch out for your allies anymore, as they're unimportant and you should be able to tell the difference between your enemies and your allies. As soon as you get on the street, you'll see a sniper on a balcony (the game developers lacked imagination in the sniper positioning department). Catch him unawares with a shot in the head, and look right to see a soldier in a doorway. When he's dead, go in the opposite direction to meet two more men. If your friend isn't already dead, he'll get killed here. Make a right into the blocked off road and kill the guard in the room on the right. Collect the goodies (medkit and ammo) if you need them. Go down the stairs opposite, and when you reach the end of the tunnel peep round the right wall and shoot the soldier there. Go upstairs and look left straight away. Blast away at the sniper on the balcony. Now turn right and put your back to the right wall. Strafe slowly right until you see a man behind a big gun. Zoom in with your rifle and shoot him. Stay focused and kill the other two who attept to replace their deceased friend behind the gun to clear out the first barricade. Now run to the gun (sadly you can't use it) and immediately turn around to take out the sniper on a balcony and collect his medkit. Now walk forward until you see a green building marked "patisserie" then make a left and a right. Kill the two guards here and collect the ammo and field surgeon pack. On re-entering the street, beware the sniper on a balcony on the big building on your left. Two guards await immediately after this, and another further on. When you've dealt with them and reached the corner, take out your rifle, look round the corner and kill the guards behind the barricade (in general they will replace the dead ones behind the gun, so keep your aim there). As soon as you approach the barricade, you will hear a motor sound. Before you can worry about this, a guard appears behind you, so blow him away with your SMG. Now retreat to behind the corner and and empty some rounds into the sidecar (the medkit the driver leaves you should compensate for any damage you take). Go over to where it crashed and look around roe a hole with elaborate railings near it. Crouch and enter it (wasting the field surgeon pack - oh well). On the other side you will hear a motor sound as soon as you leave the hole, so go back in and shoot the motorcycle from there. Now leave the hole and make a right then go into the little square, killing the guard waiting on the right as you enter. Go up the stairs to see an ally looking out of a window and petrol bombs, a medkit and some ammo behind him. Equip your rifle and stand back, then gradually move forwards until you can see a guard's head. Pop a bullet in it and move forward a little more until you can see another soldier behind a gun. Kill him too then descend to that place to find another enemy. Go past the gun and move forward until you see two smoking chimneys and hear a motor sound (yawn). Retreat a little and shoot at the sidecar as it circles the lamp post. Go into the square and kill the enemy then carefeully pick off the snipers who appear (about three - one near the chimneys, one on a balcony and one on the green building). Now go to the pile of rubble and crouch to walk under it. In this new street, turn left and eliminate the sniper on the large balcony with the aid of an ally. Run up a staircase in the side of the house to appear on the same balcony as the sniper. Watch out for the guard on the balcony opposite, and go down the stairs to appear in the street again. You will be greeted by 2 soldiers who blast your friend, allowing you to kill them unscathed. Go right into the side alley and crouch into the hole in the wall. On exiting it on the other side a guard will jump out from around the corner, so be ready. To your left is a field surgeon pack and to your right (a little further on) some petrol bombs. Go through the archway and you will see a kind of open air bar at which three fully armed German soldiers stand. Take out your rifle and pump as many shots into them as possible (hopefully you'll kill two) then retreat immediately and revert to SMG. The survivors and another guard run at you, so finish them off and grab a white thing off one of the dead guards to tick of the "find subway map" objective. Kill the sniper on the balcony above the bar when he appears, and the new guard who appears behind you. At the end of the road is a balcony on which another sniper appears. When they're dead, the area will be clear. Take the left flight of steps to find a field surgeon pack and petrol bombs. Take the right one to reach a tunnel where you will be confronted with a guard. Kill him and move on to meet another guard, a field surgeon pack, mor petrol bombs and steps leading upwards. When he's dead, climb the steps. The first thing you see is "cafe" written in neon lights, but now isn't the time to stop for a drink. Run forwards then backwards straight away, and kill the guard who follows you. Now strafe outwards while facing right and gun down the man behind the small barricade (he doesn't have a big gun). Continue in this direction until you see a lamp post, where you should look left and shoot the guard there. Hide in the doorway opposite him and use your rifle to aim at the guy behind the big gun and shoot him. Use the usual tactic (wait until the others try to replace their fallen comrade to get easy kills) to kill the other three and complete the "destroy barricades" objective. It's possible that the motorcycle which normally comes out after you complete the objective appears halfway through. Either way, shoot at it as it goes past (or use petrol bombs) and carry on with the objective if you need to. Now go back to where you killed the guard near the lamp post and use the doorway to the right to go into this alley. I recommend you strafe out quickly and shoot like crazy at the guard (possibly more than one) who appears as he is very strong for some reason. When he is dead, enter the door with the writing "aux marche" ("at the market" in French) on it to complete the level. ------------------ Mission 7, Level 3 ------------------ Operation Marketplace Objectives: Find panzerfaust, meet contact, escape into subway tunnels. For me this is the easiest mission 7 level (although that's not saying much) not to mention the most fun, so enjoy it. As soon as you start, run forwards then backwards then use your rifle (don't bother aiming) to kill the two enemies who follow. Beware - one has a bazooka. Turn left under the archway and pump some SMG ammo into the first guard and the second who awaits you just around the corner. Collect the ammo, petrol bombs and most importantly, the panzerfaust, to complete your first objective. Now retrace your steps and turn left instead of right to reach the square shown in the map below (I know it's not very accurate, but it's the best I can do on notepad). _____________ |F | | ! | *=Where you start | | _____ C=Your contact ___ | | | | W=Window from which guards jump | M | |P______ __| | F | T=Where tanks first appear (not all at once) | |___________| |_______________| | ~=Wall broken by tanks | | P=Panzerfaust ammo | | F=Field surgeon pack | | A=SMG ammo | | M=Medkit W| | P=Petrol bombs | | !=Room | | | | _| | |P | |C | | | ~ | Tx3 ~ |_____ ~ A | ~ | | _P___| |P___________________________ _______| | * | The first thing to do is NOT APPROACH THE CONTACT! He is in fact an enemy, and your life will be a lot easier if you kill him from a distance. The easiest method to complete this area is to go to the room opposite where you start (marked with ! on the map). Shoot the traitor in the head and watch as all hell breaks loose. A tank will crash through the wall (the ~ show where it appears) and several enemies will jump out of windows etc. Retreat into your room (stand where the panzerfaust ammo is) and shoot the guards that enter. When most of the first lot are dead, shoot the tank as it goes past the doorway with your rocker, retreating when it shoots back. Use the same strategy for the next two waves of enemies, refilling your health and ammo with the items scattered around the map. Also, look out for guards with bazookas. When the area is silent you'll recieve the message "you stopped all tanks, so make sure you have full health and panzerfaust ammo (I hope you left enough!) and go through the broken wall. At the bottom is a barricade, and when you approach it, two guards appear. Kill theone wielding a rocket launcher first - he's on the opposite side of the wall. Now crouch and gothrough the hole in the right wall, then go down the street. You will see an aeroplane blast along the length of the next road. Stay out of its path then look right to see a guy behind somesandbags. Next to his body are some useful items (petrol bombs, medkit) so collect them and prepare to go head to head with a german warplane (well, almost). Go forwards down the road and as soon as you see a plane RUN LIKE HELL! Return to the corner (I suggest jumping backwards for more speed) and watch the craft fly safely by. Now go forward again and shoot the two guards behind the barricade (keep moving as one has a panzerfaust that never reloads). Further down the street, to the right near a pile of rubble, are four guards (2 jump from windows) three of which are bazooka toting supergoons - I suggest petrol bombs or a panzerfaust shell (ONLY ONE!) or you could end up roasted at this evil section. If you survive you are rewarded with petrol bombs, a field surgeon pack and shells. Behind the two barricades are three normal (phew) guards and a medkit in a doorway. Now begins a section of twisting tunnels and barricades, not to mention rocket launcher toting enemies. Ready? First turn around and kill the rocket guard, then turn around again to eliminate the normal guard and rocket guard. At the next two barricades are three guards (one bazooka) and the exit behind them. Okay, the section wasn't _that_ long. Kill the guard in the dead end and note the medkit there. Go into the clearing on the left to the farmiliar sound of "VRRRRM, BOOM BOOM, tac-tac-tac-tac-tac" and other noises that accompany the presence of a tank. Wait by the first tree and pump four succesive shells into the tank. Use the trees as cover or strafe if you're able to move, aim and fire at the same time. When it's scrap metal, retreat to the wall at the dead end (where the medkit was, remember?) and give the guards who follow the SMG treatment. Go back into the clearing and collect the ammo by the unopenable door and the petrol bombs and medkit by the stairs. In the region of three enemies run down these, so shoot them as they emerge then climb the steps. Three easy kills await at the top - chuck a petrol bomb at them. In this final area area are four guards, some with bazookas, so as long as you keep strafing you'll be fine. Descend into the station (marked "metro") to finish the level. ------------------ Mission 7, Level 4 ------------------ The End of the Line Objectives: Get train schedule, unlock train doors, divert first train track, divert second train track. In front of you is some ammo and behind you are petrol bombs and shells. You're gonna need this stuff badly, so collect it only when very low. About ten enemies are in this first bit. Use your panzerfaust to kill the first two who run down the stairs with one shell, then keep entering the main part and retreating to behind the wall again to get easier kills - use petrol bombs when they're in twos. This may be a slow method, but it's the most effective I know of. Once the area is clear go up the steps opposite the train and activate the console to complete objective two. Another 2 guards have appeared, so use the columns as cover and kill them before making your way over to the train doors which will open automatically. There is a guard on each side of the door, so if you're feeling impulsive run in and blast them (risky) or use the old run-in-then-out-and-kill-them-when-they-follow trick. In the carriage are a medkit (at last!), field surgeon pack and ammo. The door to the next carriage is open, and the other will open five seconds after you press the action button on it. In the next carriage are four guards; kill the first two and two more appear. There are two more enemies in the final carriage, and they are easily terminated with a well aimed panzerfaust shell. There is a medkit behind one of the seats. Collect it and leave the train. The next room can be extremely difficult due to the sheer number of guards it hosts. The best thing to do is charge up the stairs and, not worrying about accuracy, blast the two guards up there then immediately turn around a kill the guy coming up towards you. The train schedule is now in your possession, taking care of objective one. Objective three is a simple matter of activating the console behind you. Now camp out here and blast guards as they come upstairs. Make good use of petrol bombs as well - this is the last big firefight in the main game. Every so often you will need to carefully go back into the open, only to retreat again at the faintest sound. Eventually, all guards in the area will be dead. Also, don't forget the medkit at the foot of the stairs and at the top of the other steps. Now go to the elaborate gate opposite the train and go through it. There is a medkit behind it. Round the next corner is a guard who you should catch unawares with your SMG. As soon as you have shot him a few times (let's hope he's dead) retreat and shoot the next guard who follows you. Now go forward again and shoot through the glass on the right to kill the guard there. Look towards the steps again to see eight (by my count) guards run at you two by two. Use your panzerfaust to take them down easily, and go into the control room where you killed the guard (there's nothing up the stairs). Activate the console and you'll find yourself unable to move, so just take out your SMG and shoot like crazy at the guards who appear in front of you for about 10 seconds. That's it! Mission complete! Pat yourself on the back, as you've just finished what is in my humble opinion one of the hardest Playstation First Person Shooters. If you managed to get "excellent" in every mission (like I did first time - yeah, I know I'm great) you'll recieve the Legion of Honor and a Dreamworks medal which allows you to access the ridiculously hard Mission Eight. ================================================================================================= ********************** ----5. Weapons List---- *********************** ================================================================================================= Here is a list of the weapons available in the game, for the benefit of those without a manual (which contains the list below). Please note that the notes on appearance and description are my own, not from the booklet. But first, here is a table showing what kind of ammo each gun uses and whether the player and enemy can use them: Note: All guns use one of the following ammo types - pistol, rifle, submachine gun (SMG), grenade, bazoka and shotgun. _______________________________________________________________________ | Gun | Ammo type | Player | Enemy | |---------------------------|--------------------------|--------|-------| |Colt 1911A1 | Pistol | Yes | No | |HiStandard Silenced Pistol | Pistol | Yes | No | |German Walther P38 | Pistol | Yes | Yes | |Big Joe Crossbow | Pistol | Yes | No | |Gewehr 43 (S) | Rifle | Yes | Yes | |Sturmgewehr 44 (StG 44) | SMG | Yes | Yes | |Sten SMG | SMG | Yes | Yes | |MP40 SMG | SMG | Yes | Yes | |Petrol Bombs | Grenade | Yes | No | |Stielhandgranate | Grenade | Yes | No | |Shotgun | Shotgun | Yes | No | |Panzerfaust | Bazooka | Yes | No | |Mounted Machine Gun | N/A | Yes | Yes | |___________________________|__________________________|________|_______| Pistols ------- Colt 1911A1 Appearance: A small, light grey handgun. Description: A decent gun that fires pretty fast. You don't get to use it much in single player, but it's the main handgun in multiplayer. HiStandard Silenced Pistol Appearance: A long black pistol with a suppressor. Description: My favourite gun, as it makes no noise and won't attract unwanted attention. Luckily you get to use it a lot throughout the game. German Walther P38 Appearance: A small gun which gets thinner as you near the muzzle. Description: The worst handgun in the game, it seems annoyingly inaccurate and weak, with a slow fire rate. Luckily it only appears in mission 1. Big Joe Crossbow Appearance: A big grey crossbow. Description: Actually this isn't a pistol. It's a crossbow (duh!). It takes ages to reload and has a small magazine, even if it kills in one hit. Fun to mess around with but otherwise avoid it. Rifles ------ Gewehr 43 (Sniper Rifle) Appearance: A big brown rifle like the one in the first game but with a scope. Description: The scope means you can be really accurate - just what you need. However, it fires slowly and is useless at close range. Submachine Guns/Automatic ------------------------- Sturmgewehr 44 (StG 44) Assault Rifle Appearance: A black SMG. Description: A reliable, fast shooting gun with fair accuracy. Can't say it's my favourite, but it's not bad. Sten SMG Appearance: A light grey SMG with magazines you stick in the side. Description: Pah. It sprays bullets all over the place at an amazing rate, but where's the accuracy? MP40 SMG Appearance: A thin, black SMG similar to the modern MP5. Description: This is my favourite gun, as it has good accuracy even at long range, a firing rate that is just right and a good amount of damage is dealt from each bullet. Thank God it's used so often in the missions (including mission 7). Grenades -------- Petrol bombs Appearance: A green bottle with paper coming out the top. Description: These kill in one hit and there are plenty of them scattered about, but they're kind of hard to throw far, and often hurt you in the process. Too unreliable. Stielhandgranate (German Stick Grenade) Appearance: A long thins stick with a thing at the top. Nothing like normal grenades. Description: These stick to surfaces then explode after 4 seconds. Beware of throwing them at guards, as they will kick them back. Heavy Weapons ------------- Shotgun Appearance: A long silver shotgun. Description: Sprays bullets everywhere in just one shot, so you needn't worry about accuracy. Great for clearing corridors, but not so good out in the open. Also let down by small magazine and slow firing rate. Panzerfaust (Bazooka) Appearance: A huge grey mutha. Description: Most powerful weapon in the game. Kills several men in one shot, half-tracks in two and tanks in three. Common enough, but you never get enough shells for it. Mounted Machine Gun (not in manual) Appearance: A gun set on a tripod that you can't move. Description: These are found scattered aroud each level, and they'll be your saviours. Their firing rate is amazing, and they'll mow enemies down in seconds. Even effective against tanks. The fact that their accuracy is low doesn't matter, as you get infinite ammo. ================================================================================================= ************************** ----7.
