As a point-and-click game, there isn't much in the way of exploration, but there is plenty of linearity to go around (Not necessarily a good thing). This will basically be a straight-on walkthrough of where to go next, and what to pick up. I hope it helps, and I hope you enjoy the humor that is, Discworld. >=) **NOTE** Any remark to direction (Up, right, down, left) is in reference to that direction on the screen. For instance, if I say, "Head left", then you should go to the left side of the SCREEN, not necessarily Rincewind's left. If you look inside, there is a BANANA inside the Luggage. Also, if you move the cursor to any of the sides or corners of the Luggage Inventory box, it can be enlarged. I advise you do this now. *************************** Unseen University: Library *************************** Give the BANANA to the librarian, and he'll get the BOOK, Featherwinkle's Concise Compendium of Dragon's Lairs. Take it to the Arch Chancellor. ***************************************** Unseen University: Arch Chancellor's Room ***************************************** Give the BOOK to the Arch Chancellor. He will tell you of the five items needed to create a Dragon's Lair Detector. The biggest part of Act I begins now. ****************************** Unseen University: Dining Room ****************************** Ignore everyone at the table for now; head over to Windle Poons, whom is sitting in a chair. Take the BROOM out of inventory, and use it on Windle Poons' STAFF. You will receive the STAFF. ************************* Outside Unseen University ************************* Talk to the Apprentice, and when given the chance, click on the ?. You will receive the FROG. Now go through the University Door. ****** Square ****** Go to the Stall, and pick up a TOMATO. Go to the left and use the TOMATO on the Tax Collector. Go back to the stall, and pick up another TOMATO. After a short cutscene, search the ground for a WORM. Pick up the WORM. Now, head left again and talk to the street urchin to receive the PICKPOCKET, and in the process, get some BLOOMERS. Go into the Psychiatrickerist's Office. ********************************** Square: Psychiatrickerist's Office ********************************** Talk to the Troll, leave, and then go in again. The troll will have moved, allowing you to grab the BUTTERFLY NET. Do so now. **************** Street: Toy Shop **************** Grab a toy from the Sale Bin on the left side of the shop. Then go to the counter on the right side, and grab the STRING. Then, use the STRING on the WORM that you should have picked up earlier. ************************** Street: Fishmonger's Stall ************************** Get the PICTURE that is hanging behind the Fishmonger. ******************* Street: Barber Shop ******************* Look at the HAIR ROLLER in the woman's hair. Now, talk to the woman (May take a few times to work), and then talk to the barber. When he starts to daydream, use the PICKPOCKET on the barber's pocket to get the HAIR ROLLER. ************* Livery Stable ************* Get some CORN from the sack nearby. ****** Palace ****** Talk to either of the guards, and when you get the chance, click on the ?. Enter the palace. Ignore all the people in here for now, and head to the door on the upper right side of the palace, and enter the bathroom. **************** Palace: Bathroom **************** In the bathroom, take the MIRROR. ***** Alley ***** Put the mirror in Rincewind's inventory. There is a glowing slab on the ground that will catapult you onto the rooftops. *************** Alley: Rooftops *************** On the roof, look in the background for a tower. Go there. ********************** Alley: Rooftops: Tower ********************** Use the MIRROR at the tip of the flagpole, and you will activate a cutscene consisting of conversation between Rincewind and Death. After this, press the action button on the MIRROR to readjust it. This will catch the dragon's attention, and after a small cutscene, the MIRROR will change into the DRAGON'S BREATH. Take the DRAGON'S BREATH. Now, head back to the rooftops. *************** Alley: Rooftops *************** Move left along the rooftops until you see a makeshift bridge, AKA a LADDER. Try to take the LADDER, and it will fall below, and right into your luggage. Now, go up a bit until you see the window. Press the action button on the window to go back down to the Alley. ***** Alley ***** Now, walk to the right (Staying on the ground this time), until you come across a door that you are able to walk into. Go inside. You have entered an Alchemist's house. ************************ Alley: Alchemist's House ************************ Look around the room until you find the BOX. Press the Examine button on the BOX. When you come to a close up of the BOX, use the Shutter Relase. Exit the BOX close-up. Go to your left a bit, and find the flask. Place some CORN from your inventory into the flask. Now, take the IMP from the BOX. Insetad of getting the IMP, he runs away. He heads into a mousehole to the right of the house. Exit the Alchemist's House. ***** Alley ***** Walk as far to the right as you can go. Use the WORM (Make sure it has been combined with the STRING as advised) on the mousehole to get him. *********** Broken Drum *********** Talk to the scared guy, then talk to the Bartender. Afterward, grab the TANKARD and MATCHES from the counter. ************************* Outside Unseen University ************************* Use the Path to get to the back part of Unseen University. ******************************* Outside Unseen University: Path ******************************* Open the sack, and grab the FERTILIZER. Put the BUTTERFLY NET into Rincewind's inventory. Use the LADDER on the window to peek into the kitchen. ********************************* Unseen University: Kitchen Window ********************************* Use the BUTTERFLY NET on the PANCAKE as soon as it gets near you. Exit the window. ******************************* Outside Unseen University: Path ******************************* Put LADDER and PANCAKE into your Luggage, and head inside Unseen University and into the Closet. ************************* Unseen University: Closet ************************* In the closet, move your cursor aroudn the darkness on the right side until you find the Shape. Use the MATCHES on the Shape to light up the room. After lighting the room up, grab the PACKET on the right shelf. ************************** Unseen University: Kitchen ************************** Grab the BANANA and FRYING PAN from the wall and stove, respectively. ************************** Unseen University: Library ************************** Head over to the right and into the main part of the Library. Look at the BANANA behind the Sleazy Guy's ear, and then talk to him talk to him about it when the chance comes up (When the Conversation Options come up, choose the Banana Icon). Now go to the Arch Chanellor's room, as you now have all 5 items needed to create a Dragon's Lair Detector. **************************************** Unseen University: Arch Chancellor's room **************************************** Give the Arch Chancellor the STAFF, HAIR ROLLER, DRAGON'S BREATH, IMP, and FRYING PAN, all of which you worked so hard to obtain. After some conversation, the Arch Chancellor gives you the Dragon's Lair Detector, and tells you to go find the Dragon. Let's go! ********************* Ankh-Morpork City Map ********************* When you appear on the City Map, move to the bottom-left side of the city. The clicks will get closer and closer together as you get closer to the Dragon's Lair. Soon enough, you will find the Dragon, and all the gold in the city, or three item's-worth of TREASURE. Go through L-Space. ************************************ (L-Space) Unseen University: Library ************************************ After going through L-Space, after a short wait, a thief appears and takes a book. This book plays a very important role in Act II, although you won't be able to get it problem free until near the end of the Act. But for now, DON'T take the book. Any time you try to pass through L-Space with the Dragon Book, a cutscene starts with death and his friends playing a card game. After the thief takes the book, watch what book he pushes to open the Secret Pathway out of Unseen University. Push the same book to open the bookcase and leave. The night-time map appears. ******************************* (L-Space) Ankh-Morpork City Map ******************************* Follow the thief to find the Hide-out on the west side of Ankh-Morpork. ****************** (L-Space) Hide-Out ****************** U the Drain Pipe on the left side of the screen (Near the door) to adjust it. This has no effect now; later it will be used to listen in to obtain a password. ******************* (L-Space) Inn: Room ******************* Use the SHEET on Rincewind. Now, use the jewellery box on the nightstand. Rincewind will pull out a letter-opener from a secret compartment. HE then finds a letter under the mattress. This letter tells him the combonation to a safe. Rincewind then opens the safe behind the picture, and finds a hammer inside. Not knowing what to do next, he leaves the hammer there, and does nothing for now. Looks like we're going to need to question the Scared Guy some more. >=) ************** (L-Space) Park ************** See Rince-- I mean, the drunk asleep on the bench? Use the FROG on him.. This causes the drunks snoring to subdue. Use the BUTTERFLY NET to catch the BUTTERFLY. *********************** (L-Space) Street: Dunny *********************** Behind the Fishmonger is the Dunny (AKA Outhouse). Open the dunny door, and read the graffiti. Head over to the corner with the lamp, use the BUTTERFLY on the lamp. Don't forget to grab the POT on the windowsill. ************** (L-Space) Drum ************** Look at the picture behind the little guy, then flip his glass over while he is distracted with the picture. This starts a fight with the big Hublanders sitting at the table next to him. (If you've talked to them, you'll understand why this starts a fight). Outside, use the LADDER on the shingle (Drum) to get a DRUMSTICK. Go back to the Library using the same hole you used to exit. ************************************ (L-Space) Unseen University: Library ************************************ Go back through L-Space. *********** Broken Drum *********** Talk to the scared guy again for information on what to do with the hammer. Look at the drinks until you look at the drink labeled "Counterwise Wine". After looking at Counterwise Wine, speak with the Bartender and you'll get a drink. When Rincewind finishes his drink, take the GLASS. ************* Street: Dunny ************* Get the robe that should be hanging near the Dunny. **************** Street: Toy Shop **************** Get a HOGFATHER DOLL from the toy shop Sale bin. Head back to the Library. ************************** Unseen University: Library ************************** Go back through L-space. ************************************ (L-Space) Unseen University: Library ************************************ Let the thief steal the book again, but this time, get to the hide-out before him. ****************** (L-Space) Hide-Out ****************** Wait for the thief to show up at the hide-out door, and use the GLASS on the Right-hand drainpipe when he appears. After conversation between the thief and the Door Opener/Keeper, use the ROBE on Rincewind. Now, sit back and watch the somewhat _long_ summoning, but not before everyone gives a clue as to who the members of the Brotherhood, such as one wanting no more indoor plumbing, and one wishing for low mackerel sales to be a thing of the past. After this, head to the Inn. ********* Inn: Room ********* Remember what you did last time you were here in L-Space? Do the same thing (with the sheet and jewelry box, etc.). This time, since Rincewind knows what to do, you will receive the GATE PASS. ************************************ (L-Space) Unseen University: Library ************************************ Go through L-space. ****************************** Unseen University: Dining-Room ****************************** Use the DRUMSTICK on the gong on the right side of the Dining Room. ************************* Outside Unseen University ************************* Get the PRUNES out of the bag where the Aprentice used to be. ********************************** Square: Psychiatrickerist's Office ********************************** Here, talk to the troll, and then wait. If you notice, you are in the front chair, so if you wait, you will be called up to the Psychiatrickerist. After an.... interesting.... meeting with the Psychiatrickerist, you receive the INKBLOTS from the Psychiatrickerist. After leaving, go back in and talk to the maid to get a NOTE. ****** Square ****** Get a DONUT from Dibbler. ******************************** Square: Back Alley Dunny-machine ******************************** Give the DONUT to the Dunnyman once he shows up. ****** Square ****** Talk to the Lovable Street Starfish. ******************* Street: Barber Shop ******************* Give the barber the NOTE, then use the apparatus. You will receive a GOLD TOOTH. ********* City Gate ********* Open the crate nearby and get a KEG and some FIREWORKS. Give the guard near the gate your GATE PASS. Go out of the city. ******** Mountain ******** On your way through here, get the FEATHER and EGG. ********* Dark Wood ********* Go all the way to the house at the right end of the Dark Wood. ***************** Nanny Ogg's House ***************** Fill the POT with custard from the cauldron in the fire place. ***************** Edge of the world ***************** Use the coconut tree to cause a coconut to fall off and into the water. Use the BUTTERFLY NET to get the COCONUT. While you're at it, you might as well use the SCREWDRIVER to crack open the COCONUT. And finally, grab the LAMP on the fence. ****************** Street: Fishmonger ****************** Use the STRING to get the OCTOPUS sitting on the Fishmonger's stall. ************* Street: Dunny ************* Put the OCTOPUS and the POT in the dunny can. ****************** Street: Fishmonger ****************** Exchange some PRUNES for the Fishmongers caviar. ************* Street: Dunny ************* Get the BELT with a gold buckle from the Fishmonger while he is doing.... *ahem*.... in the dunny. ****** Palace ****** Use one of the inkblots on either of the guards to enter. Talk to the peasant standing in line. Use the GARBAGE CAN on the fool. **************** Palace: Bathroom **************** Use the BUBBLE BATH with the bath. Get the CAP with a gold bell. ************************** Unseen University: Library ************************** Go through L-space. **************** (L-Space) Shades **************** Keep going right until you get to the House. ***************** Shades: The House ***************** Talk to Big Sal (Assuming you've read the graffiti in the Dunny), she is the Blonde in the red dress. Ask her for a special. Give her the EGG, COCONUT, and CORNFLOUR to get some yellow BLOOMERS. ************************************ (L-Space) Unseen University: Library ************************************ Go through L-space. ****** Square ****** Give the Lovable Street Starfish the yellow BLOOMERS to get a HANDSHAKE and a BRA. If you use the BRA on the LADDER, you will create a MUFFLED LADDER. ****** Shades ****** Give the mason a handshake to get a gold TROWEL. Go right, as you would to go to the House, but instead look on the bottom-right for the Hovel. Use the MUFFLED LADDER to cross into the Hovel. ************* Shades: Hovel ************* You will see the thief, asleep. IF you try to take his key, he rolls over. Use the FEATHER on the Thief, and he'll roll back over, allowing you to take the gold SKELETON KEY. ***** Alley ***** Put the HOGFATHER DOLL in Rincewind's Inventory, and head to the Rooftops. *************** Alley: Rooftops *************** When you reach the rooftops, look for a chimney to your right. Use the HOGFATHER DOLL in the chimney, and then head back down to the Alley, and into the Alchemist's House. ************************ Alley: Alchemist's House ************************ Use the KEG in the Fireplace, then use the STRING on the KEG to create a makeshift fuse. ***** Alley ***** See the string hanging out of the Drainpipe? Light it with the MATCHES, and watch. You get the gold BRUSH from the fallen Chimney Sweep. ************* Dragon's Lair ************* You now have all the gold items: TOOTH, BELT, CAP, SKELETON KEY, BRUSH. Give them to the dragon. ****** Square ****** See the old woman that has appeared in the Square? She's Nanny Ogg; Talk to her, and when you get the chance, choose the ?. The end result of the conversation will be the CARPET. After that, talk to her again and use Sarcasm (The Laughing Clown Head), and she will ask for a kiss. While she is waiting for Rincewind's kiss, take the CUSTARD BOOK from the stall. ************************** Unseen University: Library ************************** Go through L-space. ************************************ (L-Space) Unseen University: Library ************************************ This time, before the thief comes, Take the DRAGON BOOK on the right side of the L-Space entrance. now, quickly, use the DRAGON BOOK on the CUSTARD BOOK, and Rincewind will switch their covers. Now, even though Rincewind will acknowledge the books by their cover, and not what they really are, the books are switched. So, take the "DRAGON BOOK" (book with red cover which is now the CUSTARD BOOK), and place it where you found the original DRAGON BOOK. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% C. After looking at the Klatchian Cactus Juice, talk to the bartender two times. After Rincewind finishes the drink, take the WORM from the glass, and as you did with the first worm, use the STRING on the WORM. ******** Hide-Out ******** Knock on the door to get a CUSTARD TART. (Remember; they got the Custard Book rather than the Dragon Book, which explains the strange item you receive.) ***************** Shades: The House ***************** Talk to Big Sal again. ************ Shade: Hovel ************ Open the bag on the shelf to get the KNIFE. ****** Shades ****** Head to the "Mural" where the Mason used to be, and use the SPATULA to get the SOOT (CAMELFLAGE) ******************* Street: Barber Shop ******************* Take the barber's SCISSORS, and the APPONTMENT BOOK. ********************************** Square: Psychiatrickerist's Office ********************************** Go into the Psychiatrickerist's Office twice, talk to the Maid, and then use the APPOINTMENT BOOK to get her AUTOGRAPH. You'll then see the Psychiatrickerist. ****** Square ****** Get a BAG OF LEECHES from the Dibbler, and then open it. ******************************** Square: Back Alley Dunny-machine ******************************** Use the KNIFE on the RUBBER BELT of the dunny-machine. You will receive the RUBBER BELT. ****** Square ****** Pick up an EGG from the stall. After the cutscene, grab the SNAKE on the ground. Time to put this SNAKE through hell! Use the FERTILIZER, STARCH (or CORNFLOUR) on the SNAKE. Before you leave, you should talk to the Amazon. ***** Woods ***** Head all the way to the right, until you see the Barber standing next to a well. Turn the CRANK on the well, and then fill the POT with the bucket, once the bucket comes up. Finally, use the SCREWDRIVER on the CRANK to get the CRANK. ****** Palace ****** Use an INKBLOT or a LEECH to get past either of the guards. **************** Palace: Bathroom **************** Get the brush from the bath. ****** Palace ****** Go right, past the throne, and head into the Dungeon. *************** Palace: Dungeon *************** Use the WORM (with the STRING attached) on the Hole near the 3 Cells. You will find a MOUSE. If you "Examine" the MOUSE, Rincewind notices that the MOUSE has a zipper. "Use" the mouse (Press the action button) on the MOUSE, and you will discover that the MOUSE was really an IMP in a mouse disguise. The MOUSE is now an IMP. Now, head further right to the torture racks. Use the CRANK on the Rack holding Chucky (The right-most rack) and you will receive a SWORD. Turns out the SWORD is out of tune. Before you leave, grab a BONE from the skeleton on the ground nearby. *************** Street: Toyshop *************** Grab another TOY (I forget the name) from the Sale Bin, and then use the bone on the Gluepot on the counter. ************* Inn: Bathroom ************* In the bathroom, fill up the POT with soap from the soap dispenser on the bathtub. *** Inn *** Outside, head to the right. Give the BONE to the dog sitting under the bench. Talk to the Sailor, and then the Innkeeper. Now, look at the Sailor's tattoo and talk to the sailor once more. In this whole process, you have received a WHISTLE. ************************ Alley: Alchemist's House ************************ Talk to the Alchemist, and he will leave to go get some corn. When he leaves, take the BOX that the first IMP used to be in. ****************************** Unseen University: Dining Room ****************************** Once again, it's time to play a prank on the elderly. Switch Windle Poons' STAFF (BROOM) with the SNAKE. ************* Edge of world ************* Use the WHISTLE whistle on Rincewind, and then light a FIREWORK and throw it at POLLY. (The process to light a FIREWORK may seem complicated, but it's rather simple: Press the Action Button on the FIREWORKS to take one FIREWORK, then use the single FIREWORK on the MATCHES). POLLY will fall into the water, just out of Rincewind's BUTTERFLY NET's reach, all while the WHISTLE floats off of the Edge of the World. What do you do now? First, extend the BUTTERFLY NET by using the BROOM on the BUTTERFLY NET. Now, use the newly extended BUTTERFLY NET to grab POLLY. Well, we've got the bird... but what do we do about the WHISTLE? The sailor told you not to lose it! Well, I guess we have to get it back. "Examine" the Arch Chancellor's HAT, and you will discover an unlimited supply of rabbits and handkerchiefs. Now, use the HAT on the Fork that originally held the LAMP. Now, there will be a chain of Handkerchiefs. Use them, and you will go down to A'Tuin (The giant Turtle hurdling through space that carries Discworld on its back.)While walking around A'Tuin's back, look for a small shimmer somewhere. That is the WHISTLE. Go pick it up, and head back to the Inn. *** Inn *** Give POLLY and the WHISTLE to the Sailor. ************* Livery Stable ************* Use the BRUSH with the POT (holding the Soapy Water). Use the BRUSH with the Bumper on the wagon. Look at the bumper, and you will see a closeup of the Bumper. First, look at the Bumper Sticker, which reads "Whinney if you love Dragons". This causes Lady Ramkins' house tou appear on the Ankh-Morpork City Map. Now, read the License Plate, and it reads "SORE ASS". You now _officially_ know "the number of that Donkey Cart". (If you've seen someone get hit really hard on this game, you'd understand what that means.) ***** Alley ***** Put the KNIFE into Rincewind's inventory, and head to the Rooftops. *************** Alley: Rooftops *************** Here, go to the place where you originally got your first LADDER. Here, instead of just _taking_ the LADDER, cut it with the KNIFE instead. Now, head back down to the alley where the Assassin sits. ***** Alley ***** Talk to the assassin. What used to seem like some corny joke has suddenly become a simple but stupendously obvious puzzle element! The donkey is now in the Square, due to your squealing skills. >=) ****** Square ****** Go to the Stocks, where the Donkey is being held. Cut the donkey's tail off with the SCISSORS, and the tail turns out to be the MOUSTACHE. ******************* Lady Ramkins' House ******************* Use the knocker on Lady Ramkins' door. When she comes out, head around to the back of her house.. examine the molten pile, and then go talk to her. Use the doorknocker again, and this time, when she shows up, go around the back again and steal the ROSETTE, LEASH, and NAIL. ********* City Gate ********* Talk to guard next to the gate about Swords. ***************** Nanny Ogg's House ***************** Use the wool, and take the MALLET from the wood pile. Use the ROSETTE on the sheep. Now, use the IMP with the Impsomatic Camera, and then use the CAMERA (BOX) with the sheep. Use the SHEEP PICTURE with the OCTOPUS PICTURE. Afterwards, go through the hatch, and look at the potions. Talk to Nanny Ogg about the potions, use the CUSTARD TART on Rincewind to kiss Nanny Ogg. Take the TRUTH POTION. **** Mine **** Use the SWORD on the swordsmith here. ***** Woods ***** Give the Barber the APPOINTMENT BOOK. ******************* Street: Barber Shop ******************* Talk to the Barber here. ****** Square ****** Talk to the Lovable Street Starfish. (All this talking is getting a little boring, no?) ***** Alley ***** Put the RUBBER BELT in Rincewind's inventory, and head up to the Rooftops. *************** Alley: Rooftops *************** Go up to the Rooftops, and head back to the TOWER. Use the RUBBER BELT on the Tip, and bungee over to get the TRANSFER. *********** Broken Drum *********** Use the NAIL on the beam. Hang up the SHEEP PICTURE on the beam. Now, head over and talk to the Braggart. If and when you have thr TANKARDS, use the TRUTH POTION on the TANKARDS, and then continue conversation. He'll tell you where the Temple of Offler is located. Head over, and ask the bartender about "Elderberry Wine", and he'll mention some tidbits about foxes. ************ Inn: Bedroom ************ Look at the door, and then proceed to unscrew it. Talk to the boogeyman (use the Anger Option when it becomes available conversation, which is the Thunder cloud). *********** Broken Drum *********** Go down the trapdoor, and find the Elderberry Wine for yourself, and fill the TANKARD with some Elderberry Wine. MAKE SURE YOU PUT IT IN RINCEWIND'S INVENTORY, OR ELSE THE LUGGAGE WILL DRINK IT LATER ON. **** Mine **** Give the TANKARD (Elderberry Wine) to the swordsmith, and then offer him the SWORD once again. ***** Gorge ***** Allow yourself to be thrown from the bridge, and then use the CARPET you got from Nanny Ogg on the monk. Afterward, enter the temple. Take the bandana, or BLINDFOLD. Now, use the LEASH in the luggage, and the BLINDFOLD on Rincewind. In order to get around it, you must use the magic carpet, and move past the pile. Take MAMBO THE DRAGON. ****** Square ****** When you arrive here, use MAMBO on the dragon. Give MAMBO a lit FIRECRACKER (Refer to the Catching POLLY Scenario if you forgot how to light a FIRECRACKER), and then use him on the dragon again. And finally, for the game winning motion, simply use the LOVE CUSTARD TART on the dragon. CONGRATULATIONS!
