This guide is for the Playstation version and the Playstation version only! I think that that Dark Stone is a great game. The current price of Dark Stone is $9.99. If you like Diablo or Diablo 2 then you will really like this game, and unlike Diablo and Diablo 2, in this game your characters have faces! The gameplay, music, graphics, and plot all added to the greatness of this game. There is a bit of a problem with the game though, it takes very long to load. If you're using Playstation 2 however the loading time is massively decreased. Also, unlike Diablo and Diablo 2 you have a choice of 8 characters. If you have a question or comment about this guide please contact me at SPop6@aol.com. Now on to the guide. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = 2: Controls = = ----------- = =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= These controls are for controller type 1; you start out with this type of controller setting at the beginning of the game. Except they don't use magic to well and there long ranged attacks aren't good at all. Each time you level up you want to concentrate your points on the Strength stat. Wizard and Sorceress (Type of Characters: Wizard) ------------------------------------------------- There magic is great, but there attacks aren't. If you like long ranged battles with magic then you'll love these guys, if you don't then you'll hate them. Each time you level up you want to concentrate your points on the Magic stat. Assassin and Thief (Type of Characters: Thief) ---------------------------------------------- I love there long ranged attacks, but there closed ranged isn't the best, there magic is all right as well. There's a bit of a problem with these guys though, it takes a lot of points in your techniques (skills) before they start working well. Each time you level up you want to concentrate your points on the Dexterity stat. Monk and Priestess (Type of Characters: Priest) ----------------------------------------------- A lot of people think that these guys are the best, but remember that they don't have that important Trade skill which without that the better items are harder to buy. There speed isn't great either. But other than that they're wonderful characters. Each time you level up you want to concentrate your points on the Vitality stat. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = 4: Quests = = --------- = =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= This is basically a rumor control section and an explanation of the "continuation system". Now despite controversy, all the quests are the same. The reason the programmers added two was to make a way for a "continuation system". This system will allow you to start a game with one character and start the other game with another character then you can drop the game with a character then re-start the game with the other character, which is at a higher level. Sound confusing? Well I'm going to break it down some more into some easy steps. 1: You can create and enroll up to 9 characters. 2: The game has two quests you can choose from; both quests are the same. 3: You must start a quest with any of your created characters. 4: You can play this quest up to a certain point, and then you can stop this quest and continue it with another character. 5: If you're playing one quest and you feel like starting a new game without stopping your old game then you can play Quest 1 and Quest 2 at the same time; the memory space will still be the same, six blocks of memory. 6: Here's the cool part. You may dismiss a character from your quest at anytime. When you do this, start a new quest with the character you dismissed. 7: If you dismiss a character from a quest that character will still be enrolled on your character chart. 8: Now you can start a new quest with the character you dismissed. If you played a long ways into the game with your dismissed character then your character should have good equipment, high amounts of gold, good spells, good techniques (skills), and a good level. 9: There's a drawback though, your character will be very old if you played a long ways into the game. You will notice that your character will do less damage and take more when your character is aged. 10: Another Drawback is that you lose your inventory from your old game when you start a new quest with your dismissed character. The "continuation system" is the only way to choose tougher difficulties. Please look under the Terms Dictionary for more information about the tougher difficulties. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = 5: Walkthrough = = -------------- = =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Before I start I would like to say that we do list what enemy is which quest. You need to look under the Enemies section to find out what enemies are in what levels. Cut Scene --------- A little movie will come on when you start a new game. This Cut Scene shows people reviving Draak. Starting Out ------------ When the game starts out check your inventory and equip your items, place your potions (if you have them) on your belts. You may have food in your inventory, if you do eat your food now since you may not have 100/100 food, if you do have 100/100 food though, then don't eat your food now. As soon as you're done equipping your items you should stock up on potions for life and mana. The following people sell the following things or do the following things in this town: Gunther the Blacksmith 1: You can buy weapons and armor from him. 2: You can sell weapons and armor to him. 3: You can repair weapons and armor from him. 4: You can upgrade weapons and armor from him. All of the above cost money to do. Also, make sure you buy items for your type of character only. Audren 1: For one piece of gold you can listen to the cool song she sings, you have to press the pickup item/talk to button on the moneybag in front of her to do this. Master Elmeric 1: You can buy spell books, scrolls, potions, and certain magic items from him. 2: You can sell spell books, scrolls, potions, and certain magic items to him. 3: You can recharge magic items from him. All of the above cost money. Master Dalsin 1: Master Dalsin is the one that teaches you skills; every time you let him teach you a skill a skill point will be added in that skill. Each character has his or her own set of skills. Perry the Publican 1: You can buy food from him. 2: You can sell artifacts to him. 3: For 100 pieces of gold you can rest at his house and recover your magic and mana. Madame Irma 1: She cures you and will automatically cure you from poison free of charge. 2: She will identify items for you for a charge. 3: If you have a cursed item then she will release that item from a spell for a charge. You will also notice two other people walking around; these people are Maria and Garth. They will tell you useful information on what you're supposed to do next. Also every time you get a crystal Sabastian, a wizard, will appear. He is the one that will make the Time Orb for you when you get all seven crystals. What is the Time Orb you may ask? Well for that answer go find Maria, she will be walking around town. Talk to her several times. You must listen to the whole thing to activate the first quest. She will tell you about a monastery that was attacked last night, she will also tell you about Draak, and what happened to him. She will then tell you that Draak is back, and once he acquires the powers of the Astral Hand nothing will stop him. She will then tell you that a stone, called the Time Orb, can stop him, but unfortunately it was destroyed and was split into seven different crystals. Then she will tell you that each crystal was entrusted into an anonymous keeper, but there is a way to get the crystals, if you do what's right then the guardians of the crystal will notice that and give you their crystals. She will then tell you that the country is vast and you need the seven crystals to gain the necessary power to defeat Draak. Now, the next part of the dialogue will tell you which quest you have. Maria will tell you about one of the following quests: The Sorceress Riken's Ghost The Sun Cross She will say to talk to a man named Drakus, if you have The Sun Cross quest. She will tell you about a neighborhood to visit if you have the quest Riken's Ghost. She will tell you about a neighborhood under fear if you have the quest The Sorceress. This section of the guide is based on the quest called The Sorceress. If you have the quest called Riken's Ghost or The Sun Cross then turn to that section of the guide now. The Sorceress - Crystal of Wisdom - Crystal 1 ---------------------------------------------- Exit the town after you're done getting yourself equipped and talking to Maria. Now let's get the first crystal shall we? Explore the Land of Ardyl until the whole map is revealed, make sure you kill every monster you see, also make sure you pick up all items, gold, spells et cetera along the way. If you run out of room on your inventory simply go back to town and sell some stuff. Check your map, if you explored the land well enough then you should see a couple of places marked on your map, one marked "The Village" and one marked "The Witch's House". There will be other places marked on your map too, but for now just concentrate on those. Go to "The Village" and talk to Ernie and Rob, they will tell you about he witch. Apparently she doesn't want anyone to be more beautiful than her, and when Ernie's and Bob's wives got more beautiful than her she got mad and turned them into stone. So that explains why there are two statues in the middle of town. Now go inside the place called "The Witches House". Talk to Mika The Sorceress (she's the witch) who will be waiting in front of the her house. She said that she will only release the spell when she gets her looks back. Now you should see a spot on the map marked "Entrance to Level 1" if you explored the map well enough. Go to "Entrance to Level 1" killing all monsters along the way. When you reach "Entrance to Level 1" read the sign that is in front of the little castle, the sign should read "Welcome to the Fountain of Youth". It looks like we're in the right place, now; go inside the little castle that is behind the sign. When you enter this castle there should be a life pool next to you. Explore all of Level 1 until you've revealed the whole map; try to kill all the monsters to gain experience. While you're exploring level 1 make sure to get all the items you find. If you run out of room on your inventory use the Magic Door scroll, or spell, and go back to town and sell your items. Once you've explored level 1 well enough go up to level 2, the "Entrance to Level 2" should be marked on your map if you explored Level 1 well enough. I suggest you be at least a level 8 before you go into level 2. Also, if you found any spell books in the Level 1 the make sure you learn them. Explore Level 2 until the whole map is revealed, make sure you go in every room and kill every monster, also make sure you pick up all items, gold, spells et cetera along the way. If you run out of room on your inventory simply go back to town and sell some stuff. Also, make sure you save your game every so often. Now, you may have done this al ready, but now it's time to get A Mirror. Go to the place on your map marked "The Chest", go inside this little room and open the chest you find there to receive "The Mirror". Also, make sure you break some pottery in this room to get some more stuff. Now, go to the place on your map marked "Entrance to Level 3", I suggest you be a level 10 before going in there. Also, I would highly suggest you have the spell Magic Missiles before you go to level 3, if you haven't found or purchased it yet I suggest you go back to town and get it now. When you enter Level 3 there will be a life pool next to you. Explore Level 3 until the whole map is revealed, make sure you go in every room and kill every monster, also make sure you pick up all items, gold, spells et cetera along the way. If you run out of room on your inventory simply go back to town and sell some stuff. Also, make sure you save your game every so often. After you've explored Level 3 well enough go to "Entrance to Level 4". I suggest you be at least level 12 before you go to Level 4. Explore Level 4 until the whole map is revealed, make sure you go in every room and kill every monster, also make sure you pick up all items, gold, spells et cetera along the way. If you run out of room on your inventory simply go back to town and sell some stuff. Also, make sure you save your game every so often. If you explored Level 4 well enough then you should be at least at level 14 and there should be a place on your map called "The Fountain of Youth". Go to that place now. Talk to a guy named Elas who is waiting there. He will tell you that he ran away on his wedding day to find the Fountain of Youth, but it was dried up. Now, give "The Mirror" to him. He will then say that he now understands, that it was the mirror that he had that made him look old. Elas will then give you "The Mirror of Lies". Return to town to rest, stock up, repair your equipment, and buy new equipment. Now, exit town and go back to "The Witch's House". Give her the Mirror of Lies. The Mirror of Lies shows the opposite of a person looks like. You should have known this if you read the inscription on "The Mirror of Lies". The Sorceress (the witch) will declare how young she looks and how soft her skin is once you give her "The Mirror of Lies". Talk to her again and she will tell you that the spell is broken, now go back to "The Village", it should be marked on your map. When you reach "The Village" talk to everyone except Rob; that means talk to Sonia, Ernie, and Ursula. They will all thank you for what you have done. Then talk to Rob. When you talk to Rob he will be very grateful for what you did and he will give you "The Crystal of Wisdom". Go into your inventory and drop "The Crystal of Wisdom". Pick up "The Crystal of Wisdom" and Sebastian a wizard will talk to you. He will congratulate you on finding the crystal and then he will inform you that you have six more crystals left to find. He will then tell you that he will form the "Time Orb" for you when you get all seven crystals. So another words one down. Six to go. Your next quest will be one of the following: The Reeds Song Genna's Disease The Unicorn Riken's Ghost - Crystal of Wisdom - Crystal 1 --------------------------------------------- Before I start I would like to say that there are three bosses in this quest, even though it may be the hardest starter quest it is the most rewarding. Exit the town after you're done getting yourself equipped and talking to Maria. Now let's get the first crystal shall we? Explore the Land of Ardyl until the whole map is revealed, make sure you kill every monster you see, also make sure you pick up all items, gold, spells et cetera along the way. If you run out of room on your inventory simply go back to town and sell some stuff. Once the whole map of Ardyl is revealed go to the spot on the map marked "The Village". One your inside "The Village" talk to The Mayor, he will tell you about how the "Horn of Plenty" was stolen from them. An evil sorcerer named Zoram stole the "Horn of Plenty". Talk to Rosanne and Riwen and they will tell you how much they are suffering from this loss. Let's go retrieve the "Horn of Plenty" shall we? The "Horn of Plenty" is the village's only food source. Go to the spot of your map marked "Entrance to Level 1", it will look like a big hole in the ground. Go into the hole. Explore all of Level 1 until you've reached the end of the long dark path the starts out Level 1; try to kill all the monsters to gain experience. While you're exploring level 1 make sure to get all the items you find. If you run out of room on your inventory use the Magic Door scroll, or spell, and go back to town and sell your items. While you're exploring Level 1 do be careful of the bats that are there, short ranged attackers should have no problem with them, but long ranged attackers will. After you are complete with the long dark path that starts out Level 1 you should eventually come to a door. Go through this door and continue up into another door. A ghost named Riken will be standing there. You should've found out about him from the village you visited. Talk to him, he will tell you that his soul haunts these parts and he will only find peace when the "Horn of Plenty" is returned to his village. You're done with him, for now. Continue to explore all of Level 1 until you've revealed the whole map; try to kill all the monsters to gain experience. While you're exploring level 1 make sure to get all the items you find. If you run out of room on your inventory simply go back to town and sell some stuff. Since Level 1 is just a long path you should eventually reach "Entrance to Level 2". I suggest you be at least Level 5 before going into Level 2. When you enter Level 2 there will be a mana pool beside you. Explore Level 2 until the whole map is revealed, while exploring Level 2 make sure you don't talk to Riken yet, we will explain that in further detail in just a minute; make sure you go in every room and kill every monster, also make sure you pick up all items, gold, spells et cetera along the way. If you run out of room on your inventory simply go back to town and sell some stuff. Also, make sure you save your game every so often. When you're done exploring Level 2, get ready for your first boss fight. Make sure you have the spell Magic Missiles. Go talk to Riken now, he will be on a place on your map marked "The Fire Golem". Talk to him, he will tell you that this is the place that he died at. He will tell you if you are successful at killing him to take his sphere element with you. The next room contains your first boss fight, The Fire Golem; turn to the boss section now on how to defeat him. Once you've gotten the "Fire Element Sphere" go to the place on your map marked "Entrance to Level 3". I suggest you be at least Level 10 before going into Level 3. When you enter Level 3 there will be a life pool beside you. Explore Level 3 until the whole map is revealed, while exploring Level 3 make sure you don't talk to Riken yet, we will explain that in further detail in just a minute; make sure you go in every room and kill every monster, also make sure you pick up all items, gold, spells et cetera along the way. If you run out of room on your inventory simply go back to town and sell some stuff. Also, make sure you save your game every so often. When you're done exploring Level 3, get ready for your second boss fight. Make sure you have the spell Magic Missiles. Go talk to Riken now, he will be on a place on your map marked "The Ice Golem". Talk to him, he will tell you that the Ice Golem's powers are awesome. He will tell you if you are successful at killing him to take his sphere element with you. The next room contains your second boss fight, The Ice Golem; turn to the boss section now on how to defeat him. Once you've gotten the "Ice Element Sphere" go to the place on your map marked "Entrance to Level 4". I suggest you be at least Level 13 before going into Level 4. When you enter Level 4 there will be a life pool beside you. Explore Level 4 until the whole map is revealed, while exploring Level 4 make sure you don't talk to Riken yet, we will explain that in further detail in just a minute; make sure you go in every room and kill every monster, also make sure you pick up all items, gold, spells et cetera along the way. If you run out of room on your inventory simply go back to town and sell some stuff. Also, make sure you save your game every so often. When you're done exploring Level 4, get ready for your last boss fight of the quest. Make sure you have the spell Magic Missiles. Go talk to Riken now, he will be on a place on your map marked "Zoram's Retreat ". Talk to him, he will tell you that doors are useless for a Sorcerer of his power so he doesn't use then, he will then tell you that if you give him the "Ice Element Sphere" and the "Fire Element Sphere" that he can negotiate with the Spirit of Stone and give you access to Zoram's layer. Give him both spheres and he will give you "The Cloak of Clouds", this will allow you to pass through the walls of Zoram's layer. He will then tell you if you are useful at killing him to take the "Horn of Plenty" and return it to the village chief, if you do this he will give you a reward. You should remember "The Village" from earlier. Now get ready for your final boss fight of the quest, turn to the Bosses section now. Now that you have "The Horn of Plenty" go into your inventory, click on the "Horn of Plenty" and you should see an option called "Abundance", this option will give you free food. Use that option to make as much food as you want, you will get a "Chicken Leg" each time you use the option. After you make as much food as you want go back to town using the Magic Door spell. When you're in town rest, stock up, repair your equipment, and buy new equipment. Now exit town again and go to the spot on your map marked "The Village". Give the "Horn of Plenty" to The Mayor and he will thank you. When you try to leave "The Village" Riken will appear again and he will give you the "Crystal of Wisdom". Go into your inventory and drop "The Crystal of Wisdom". Pick up "The Crystal of Wisdom" again and Sebastian a wizard will talk to you. He will congratulate you on finding the crystal and then he will inform you that you have six more crystals left to find. He will then tell you that he will form the "Time Orb" for you when you get all seven crystals. So another words one down. Six to go. Your next quest will be one of the following: The Reeds Song Genna's Disease The Unicorn The Sun Cross - Crystal of Wisdom - Crystal 1 --------------------------------------------- Before I start I would like to say that there is a boss in this quest. This quest is semi-difficult, so be prepared. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = 7: Bosses = = --------- = =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Please note that it is impossible to determine HP for bosses, this part of the guide is strictly on how to kill them, we will not cover what attacks they have, mana, HP, et cetera ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Boss: The Fire Golem Quest Found In: Riken's Ghost Suggested Level To Be At When Fought: Level 10 Strategy To Kill: Have your food, health, and mana all at maximum level. Version - 1.3 - 6/26/01 I am mainly updating to inform you that I am still alive. I updated some sections today though. Version - 2.0 - 6/27/01 Again, this was just a minor update with some errors fixed. Version - 2.1 - 6/28/01 I updated the copyright. Version - 2.2 - 6/29/01 Again a minor update, please don't get mad at me for these small updates, I'm currently working on three guides right now (including this one) and it's hard to find time for it. 7/4/01 will be my big update. Version - 2.3 - 6/30/01 I fixed the copyright section again. Version - 2.4 - 7/1/01 Nothing much for today, remember 7/4/01 will be my big update. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = 20: Copyright Information = = ------------------------- = =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= This FAQ is Copyright (c)2001 Alex Shapiro.
