So as long as you've asked me, yes, you can put it up on your site. The sites above are the ones that don't have to ask to use them. Liero is copyright Mets„nEl„imet 1998. Please do not leech any of this to make your own FAQ out of it. Unless you have MY permission DO NOT take anything at all from this guide. Don't edit, don't do anything to it and submit it without e-mailing me with permission first. You can print it out, but only for personal use, no selling this! Summing it up, do anything for your own personal benefit (apart from reading it) without asking me, AND YOU'LL BURN IN HELL!!!!! ---====================--- To get in touch, e-mail me at dc3131@yahoo.com.au My ICQ# is 34601221 My webpage is http://www.dcmagus.com My MSN contact is dcmagus@hotmail.com, but any email sent to that address will most likely be ignored, as I don't check that account My AIM name is dcmagus Be warned that I'm only on the net twice a week, don't expect replies from me which are ten minutes after you've sent the mail. Here's some guidelines about sending me mail: 1.Make sure you put the title of the game you're asking about in the subject. I've made a fair few FAQs, and it's a bit hard to work things out sometimes. 2.If it's an FAQ, make sure that it's not already in the guide!!! If it is, I'll do my best to ignore it. If it's not in there, make sure that the details you provide are, well, DETAILED, and not sketchy. Examples are "Hi need to know how to get past this part, i'm in a room and stuck", I need to know where you are, etc. 3.Ask nicely. So far, most people have, but if your mail goes along the lines of "Hi, need code for B2, reply within the next hour otherwise I'll bomb you" will not get you anywhere. That's it. Sorry for being a pain, but it had to be said. ---====================--- Version History v1.0-Weapons List, Strategies v1.1-Another Site which will host this. v1.2-Ditto. v1.21-Copyright Notice changed. v1.22-Copyright Notice changed. v1.23-Copyright Notice changed. v1.24-Seems like a waste of time, but I like ASCII art headings =) v1.25-Copyright Notice changed. v1.26-Copyright Notice changed. v1.27-Copyright Notice changed. v1.28-Email guidelines. A simple, yet extremely fun way to blow your friends up. Then came along the release of the very popular Worms. Turn based combat, using Worms and with hilarious weapons? Sweet! In 1998, Liero was made. While not well known, while not being leased to a publisher, and while only being a small DOS game which people could download off the net, got rid of the turn-based system and opted for real-time combat. And hell did it work. While only with support for two players, and no internet/modem/LAN support, it's still a damn fine game for what, 380kb? www.mikrobitti.fi is the place to get this game from. Like Worms, it's about you being a worm, and trying to kill the other player in a confined area, full of dirt and rocks. There are plenty of weapons, and "built in" to your worm is the ability to dig, jump and use a ninja rope at your will. There's also a strategical element needed to play Liero. In the vast array of options, you can set loading times so that you either have to wait for your weapon to reload after you've emptied it, or you can have a full on slugfest where you don't have to reload at all. The many weapons available range from the Minigun, a high-powered, fast-firing gun, to the Mine, step on it and Ka-Boom!, to the super Chiquita Bomb, think Banana Bomb with many more particles. At the start of each round, you get to pick five, and only five weapons to use. In game, however, there are the bonus crates. Of course, being a DOS game, and only 380kb, the graphics aren't too flash hot. But, the sounds are pretty good, with each explosion sounding like...well, an explosion. Other options include the ability to change colour of your worms, change the blood value, number of lives etc. There are also a couple of game modes: Kill'em All, Tag, Capture the Flag and Simple CTF. All of these add up to the lastability of Liero. Even though the graphics aren't that good, and there's only support for two players on the same PC, it's a mighty fine effort for a DOS game. For those of you who thought DOS was dead, well, the graphics are, wake up and smell the aroma of worms burnt to a crisp. Now that's gaming. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 2)Weapon List --------------------------------------------------------------------- Bazooka Type: Projectile Fires a single missile, for moderate damage. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Big Nuke Type: Bomb This bomb rocks! Launch it, and then after a while, it will seperate into many different parts, and then all of those parts will detonate. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Blaster Type:Projectile Fires a round ball, which detonates when it hits something, leaving a fairly large crater. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Booby Trap Type: Bomb Annoy the opponents with these. They look exactly like weapon and health pickups, but they will blow up in your face when you touch them. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Bouncy Larpa Type:Projectile (No info yet) --------------------------------------------------------------------- Bouncy Mine Type: Bomb The most annoying weapon. Once fired, bounces around a LOT and hits for a lot of damage. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Cannon Type:Projectile Fires a cannonball. Gravity applies, as when shot straight, seems to fall down in an arc a bit. Nice damage. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Chaingun Type:Projectile Rapid firing gun. While not as fast as the Minigun, it's almost as damaging. Hold down to fire very rapidly. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Chiquita Bomb Type: Bomb The mother of all bombs. Shoot it, and it will explode, sending out lots of "bananas" everywhere, and each of them will detonate, lots of damage. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Cluster Bomb Type: Bomb Like a Chiquita Bomb, but less damage, less particles. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Crackler Type:Projectile/Bomb Fire it, and a spinning bullet will come out, and it will spit out small bombs which will deal a lot a damage in confined spaces. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Dart Type:Projectile Weakest weapon. Fire one dart for small damage. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Dirtball Type:Projectile When it settles, a clump of dirt will appear. Rebuild torn landsacpes, hide yourself. It's pretty effective. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Doomsday Type:Projectile Fire two missiles at a fast rate. They do nice damage and the fast fire rate is extremely handy too. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Explosives Type: Bomb Fire these, and the explosives will detonate after a set time or when it hits something. Not that much damage. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Fan Type:Projectile Blow things away! Bombs, projectiles, even the other worm! --------------------------------------------------------------------- Flamer Type:Projectile Shoots out flame. Not much distance, really not worth it. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Float Mine Type: Bomb The mines which don't move much, but hang around in the air. Can be knocked about by explosions. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Gauss Gun Type:Projectile High powered, fast and deadly bullets are shot from these. You could take out a 1000 health dude in about 5 shots. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Grasshopper Type: Bomb Once it blows up, another one will appear and detonate, then another etc. It'll go on for about 5 bombs. Effective. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Greenball Type:Projectile A faster version of the Dirtball, but this time you have green dirt. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Grenade Type: Bomb Like a cluster bomb, but much, much, smaller explosions. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Handgun Type:Projectile Shoot it once for okay damage. Has a laser sight. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Hellraider Type:Projectile/Bomb Shoot it, and the missiles will arc away, then detonate and split into more detonating parts. Annoying and really not that effective unless you are suicidal. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Larpa Type:Projectile (No info yet) --------------------------------------------------------------------- Laser Type:Projectile Hold on to it, and this cuts through dirt like a knife cuts through butter. Lock on the worm for more damage. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Mine Type: Bomb Set it, and if someone touches it....BOOM! --------------------------------------------------------------------- Minigun Type:Projectile Best rapid firing gun. Fastest rate and best damage. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Mini Nuke Type: Bomb Small Big Nuke. Not too good, as explosions are small. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Mini Rockets Type:Projectile Like Doomsday, but only one missile and more damage. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Missile Type:Projectile High damage missiles which you can control with the directional keys! Must have. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Napalm Type: Bomb Shoot it, and whatever it hits will be engulfed in flame. For some reason, slows game down. --------------------------------------------------------------------- RB Rampage Type:Projectile Shoot a bullet, and it will start bouncing. It will detonate after a while. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Rifle Type:Projectile High powered bullet, deals a heap of damage. Laser sighting is great as well. Too bad it's got major kickback. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Shotgun Type:Projectile Boom! Boom! Each shot splits into little particles which eat through dirt and worms. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Spikeballs Type: Bomb Very, very, effective. Shoot these, and they are like razor blades, slicing through the opposition. Then the blow up, for more damage. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Super Shotgun Type:Projectile Probably the most effective weapon. Not much kickback, but it's made up for by a high powered, big blast radius projectile. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Uzi Type:Projectile Just like a Chain/Minigun, just a little weaker. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Winchester Type:Projectile (No info yet) --------------------------------------------------------------------- Zimm Type:Projectile (No info yet) --------------------------------------------------------------------- 3)Strategies --------------------------------------------------------------------- -When picking weapons, you really want to have a good mix of bombs and projectiles. Always pick the Minigun or Super Shotgun, they are extremely effective. Some good combinations: Minigun Chiquita Bomb Super Shotgun Doomsday Grasshopper Minigun Mini Rockets Crackler Grasshopper Gauss Gun And so on. Experiment! -Don't forget the ever useful Ninja Rope (Hold down Change Weapon and press Jump). It's very handy to get you out of any situation, where there's somewhere to swing to. -If you have reload times at 0, and lots of health, here's a way to clear out plenty of land...Missiles! Since they can be remote-controlled, you can terrorize your opponent while you're at it. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 4)Acknowledgements --------------------------------------------------------------------- Mets„nEl„imet-For making this great game.
