Melee proves to be one of the best launch titles. This fighting game is a sequel to the previous N64 version. With every fighting game they're also comes its characters and which one to choose. If you choose Falcon, I'm here to aid with using Falcon to his full potential. =*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*= BASIC TERMS =*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*= Edge Guard- Knocking your opponent off the level, then waiting at the edge and just incase he comes back. If he is coming back you just hit him again (usually a smash works well) to KO him. Smash Attack- Pressing the A button while pressing the analog stick against its barrier (can be up, down or either side). Holding a will charge the attack making it stronger. Smash attacks can send your opponents flying. Special Attack- Pressing the B button by itself or in combination with a direction (up, down or either side) will give you special moves. Each character has 4 in total. =*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*= CONTROLS =*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*= --A-- This button is used for your basic attacks, and for smash attacks --B-- Using this button you can perform special attacks. In combination with a direction or plainly using the button by itself will give you different moves. --L-- Uses your shield to block attacks. Pressing forward or back will result in a dodging roll. Can also dodge in the air using the direction up. --R-- Uses your shield to block attacks. Pressing forward or back will result in a dodging roll. Can also dodge in the air using the direction up. --X-- Makes your character jump, pressing again will double jump. --Y-- Makes your character jump, pressing again will double jump. --Z-- Used to grab your opponent at short range. Pressing again will result in you hitting the character. Press it too many times and the opponent will brake free. The higher the percentage the more times you can hit. Pressing the analog stick will throw. --Analog Stick-- Used to move your character. The more it is pushed away from the center the faster you will run. =*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*= Falcon's Biography =*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*= Falcon was originally a racer in the very first F-Zero for SNES, then later F-Zero 2 and F-Zero X. He was known as a bounty hunter and was a rival to Samurai Gourhu(sp?). His car is the Blue Falcon. PROS - Very Powerful Attacks - Extremely fast CONS - Has horrible recovery time More coming in this section =*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*= MOVES LIST =*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*= ==================== Special Moves List ==================== B: Falcon Punch- Falcon winds up a powerful close-range punch that delivers a blow and sends your opponent flying even when he is at a low percentage. The only problem with this move is the time Falcon takes to "charge" the punch, you must have good timing. (Forward+B) or (Back+B): Raptor Punch- Falcon makes a swift charge at his opponent and uppercuts them into the air. This move is perfect for knocking your opponent in the air defenseless and slaughtering them while in air. This move can be used to setup Falcon's Up+B attack, then after that maybe even an in air Falcon Kick to end the combo. Up+B: Falcon Throw- Falcon will leap into the air, grab onto an opponent and throw him away in flames. It is a good anti-air attack, although I remember it being much stronger in the N64 version. Down+B: Falcon Kick- Falcon charges at his enemies with a fiery kick. Useful for hitting multiple enemies at a time. Just make sure you don't get hit while you are recovering. This move can also be used well in the air. =============== Smash Attacks =============== Up+A: Falcon will deliver two kicks which knock the enemies into the skies. Down+A: Falcon will kick in front and behind himself, in that order. Forward+A: Falcon will deliver an elbow sending the enemy flying in flames. Back+A: Falcon will deliver an elbow sending the enemy flying in flames. ================== A Button Attacks ================== A: Falcon will throw a weak punch. A(while running): Falcon will kick straight ahead while his momentum pulls him forward. Up+A(lightly): Falcon will uppercut his enemies with a little throw an axe kick Down+A(lightly): Falcon will sweep kick in front of himself knocking the enemy into the air. Forward+A(lightly): Falcon will kick in front of himself. Back+A(lightly): Falcon will kick in front of himself. ============== While in Air ============== =*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*= OPPONENT STRATEGIES =*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*= ======== Bowser ======== Attacking from the air seems to be the most successful way to wear down Bowser. Weaken him with A button attacks and smash attacks and maybe some Falcon Kicks from the air, he can take quite some punishment before you can knock him far. If he attacks you from the air counter with a Falcon Throw, which can be used multiple times if you are accurate. He is very slow so use Falcon's great speed to exploit that weakness. When he is at a percentage around 100 try and end him with smash attacks or a well timed Falcon Punch. ================= Captain Falcon ================= Two characters with the exact same strengths and weaknesses fighting each other. Interesting. Since most of Falcon's attacks take some time to charge, I find it easiest to start with a quick Raptor Punch to knock him into the air, then a Falcon Throw. Due to Falcon's slow recovery time, you may even get in a Falcon Punch while the enemy Falcon is still recovering. Attacking from the air is usually bad against an expert Falcon player, who will usually counter with a Falcon Throw. Your best means of attack is a quick strike from the front or behind. ============= Donkey Kong ============= ========== Dr.Mario ========== Dr.Mario is basically your average all-around character, along with his counterpart Mario. Attacking from the air is bad, they have definitely improved the UP+B attack since the last Smash Bros. The doctor isn't very fast so charge at him (watch out for pills) and slaughter him with A attacks. If he misses with his tornado attack you may be able to get a Falcon Punch in on Dr.Mario. If attacked by air use your Falcon Throw on him. Dr.Mario does not have a good countering move for the Falcon Kick use this to your advantage. ======= Falco ======= About the same as Fox, except he may take a little more work to KO due to his high jump. Air Falcon Kicks usually work well, as well as attacks from the air. He can dish out some serious punishment with some quick A attacks, sually sticking to your B moves especially Flacon kick and Raptor Boost work well. Just try not to be out-maneuvered on the ground and this fight should be in the bag. ===== Fox ===== Fox is fast, but Falcon is faster. Attacking from the air works well on Fox because he does not have a good anti-air attack. Battling Fox while he is in the Air will also work well. Fox's lack of powerful attacks makes him somewhat vulnerable to Falcon, especially since Fox's best attribute is speed and Falcon still bests it. ============ Gannondorf ============ Gannondorf has all of Falcon's attacks except he is much slower, yet more powerful. Use your speed to exploit Gannondorf's lack on maneuverability, rolling around him usually works well especially if he is using a smash attack or his Warlock Punch. Wear him down using rolling and attacking or pound him while he is recovering from a powerful attack, then send him flying with a smash attack. ============== Ice Climbers ============== =========== Jiggypuff =========== ======= Kirby ======= Most Kirby players I know love fighting Falcon, just so that they can copy his Falcon Punch. Do not let this happen to you, as it gives Kirby a very powerful KO attack. For the most part Kirby is not a very powerful character but he is small and harder to hit, so do not let him out-maneuver you with rolls and such. Your attacks should send this puffball flying but he has very good recovery abilities which can get him back to ground. A funny tactic to use on a beginner Kirby player is to lure him into using a Down+B attack on an angled surface, you could very well see him KO'ing himself. ====== Link ====== Avoid rolling around Link too much because his UP+B can send you flying. If attacking from the front or behind, use quick attacks such as the Raptor Boost so that Link does not have time to react with an UP+B. At long distance he can severely raise you percentage with the use of his Arrows, Boomerang and bombs so watch out. Be careful when attacking from air as well, if he jumps and does an UP+B he can launch you pretty far, but if he misses on the last attack at the end of the UP+B you may be able to get in some good hits while he is recovering. If attacking from the air, a good choice is the Air Falcon Kick. Ideally, the best place to attack Link is from below with your Falcon Throw or an UP+A smash attack. Link does not have good jumping abilities, if you send him off the level it will be hard for him to return. Assuming he does, he is usually very vulnerable so edge guard and just let him have a smash! ======= Luigi ======= ======= Mario ======= ======= Marth ======= ======== Mewtwo ======== =================== Mr.Game and Watch =================== ====== Ness ====== ======= Peach ======= ========= Pikachu ========= ======= Pichu ======= ===== Roy ===== ======= Samus ======= ======= Yoshi ======= ============ Young Link ============ ======= Zelda ======= =*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*= GENERAL FIGHTING STRATEGY =*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*= =*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*= LEGAL INFORMATION =*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*= This faq is copyright General Goat 2002.
