More to come later. This FAQ is undoubtedly going to take forever to become 100% complete because of the random scenarios and the increasing difficulties and all that. But I will persevere! Unlike those other times. Version 0.3 (1:32 AM EDT 7/3/2004) - Walkthrough complete up through getting the points for the Eagle Tournament. It's kind of refreshing having started writing FAQs again, I've got something to do after work. Fun, too. Also, I've noticed that CJayC at GameFAQs has this listed under both Blue Moon and Red Sun. Although I wasn't intending to do both, why not? I've got both. So I'll put in some Blue Moon events in a little while. Version 0.4 (3:27 AM EDT 7/6/2004) - I've played through the Den Battle Tournament on Blue Moon, and made it past one event of the Eagle Tournament in Red Sun. More later. Version 0.45 (2:28 AM EDT 7/7/2004) - Completed the Eagle Tournament on Red Sun. Version 0.5 (2:35 AM EDT 7/9/2004) - Finished the Red Sun tournament. Still pretty behind on Blue Moon, though. Version 0.75 (5:09 PM EDT 7/10/2004) - Completed Game 1 on Red Sun. Still haven't advanced Blue Moon. Don't rush me! Version 0.85 (9:59 PM EDT 7/10/2004) - Gone through the Hawk Tournament on Blue Moon. Version 1.0 (4:46 PM EDT 7/11/2004) - Finished the game on Blue Moon. For the record, the super-complete walkthrough shall be version 2.0. Version 1.2 (3:02 AM EDT 7/16/2004) - Added more scenarios for all three tournaments. Version 1.5 (5:18 PM EDT 7/19/2004) - Den/City Battle Tournament has all scenarios listed for both versions; other two tournaments will take two more playthroughs to finish, though. Added some scenarios to them anyway. Version 1.6 (11:40 PM EDT 7/22/2004) - Eagle/Hawk Tournament is finished. One tournament scenario left, then I go to Black Earth and all that. Version 1.95 (1:13 AM EDT 7/28/2004) - Finished the Black Earth stuff. Give me a bit to make my way to the last scenario, then I'll start working on chips and all that. Version 2.0 (3:42 AM EDT 8/12/2004) - At long last, the walkthrough is complete! Working on chips now. Please e-mail me with chip locations if you can. Version 2.1 (1:16 AM EST 1/1/2005) - The FAQ is now over 100 pages long! Chip lists are up, in some form. Enjoy. I also changed the name of Sparkman's scenario; I thought the old one was pretty bad, and I felt a need to use another song title. Also Woodman. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2 - Basic Info You should probably look at this before you plunge headlong into battles and stuff. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.1 - Characters Lan - Mr. Hero Guy. This is one of two people you control as you run around trying to save the world. Megaman - The other character you control. The one that does all the actual work, as a Navi running around the Net battling and such. He's actually Lan's brother; play MMBN1 for more information. Mayl - Lan's sort-of-not-really-he's-completely-clueless girlfriend. Her Navi is Roll. Dex - The neighborhood bully who sometime (don't ask me) moved back to town. His Navi is Gutsman. Yai - The whiny, rich, smart, short, spoiled brat. Her Navi is Glyde. Chaud - A very skilled NetBattler working for the Official Center. His Navi is the sword-wielding Protoman. Dr. Hikari - Lan's dad works for SciLab, and is Megaman's creator. Dr. Regal - A new NAXA scientist. If your instincts were to not trust this guy, you were right. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.2 - Gameplay Gameplay in this game takes place in two areas: the real world and the Cyberworld. In the real world, you control Lan, who runs around talking to people and interacting with objects. The majority of play takes place in the Cyberworld, in which you control Lan's Navi, Megaman. When Lan jacks into an object connected to the net, control switches to Megaman. Play as Megaman is similar to Lan's, but occasionally, Megaman will run into viruses, or other Navis, that want to battle. After almost every battle, your time, as well as your Busting Level (which measures your busting level on a scale from 1 to S) is displayed, and you get a reward of money, battlechips, or a health refill. The main difference between this and other MMBN games is the event system. During the game, three tournaments will take place, and during each tournament, you'll encounter three story events, out of a possible seven, selected at random (almost). Don't try changing it, they're decided when you start the game, and only change when you start a new game (thanks to megaman player for that info). To get all of the events, you'll have to play through the game multiple times. Once you beat it the first time, you'll have the option to continue, or start a new game on Hard mode. You'll eventually graduate to Super Hard Mode, and from there, weirder things happen. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.3 - Battle System Occasionally, Megaman will have to battle viruses or another Navi. When this occurs, the Cyberworld will disappear and a battle field will appear. Half of the battlefield is for Megaman to move around in, and the other half is for the enemy/enemies. In the top-left corner is your health, and the health of your opponent(s) is above or below them. Your main weapon is your buster, which you use by pressing B. This slowly drains your opponents' health, but the most useful weapons are your battlechips. As soon as the battle starts, your chip screen will show up. Here, five chips from your folder will appear for you to select. You can only select chips with the same chips code (* is a wild card), unless they are the same chip. Once you've selected your chips, select 'Run' and you can use the chips against your enemies with A. When the custom meter at the top of the screen fills up, press L or R to bring up the chip screen again. During the course of the game, you will acquire certain Souls, which you can use in battle. To use a Soul, select a chip of the corresponding type (fire, water, etc.), then hit the Unite button. When you're done selecting chips, you'll undergo a Soul Change, and Megaman will acquire some attributes of the Navi whose Soul he has. You can use the Soul for three turns; you could use it indefinitely as long as you don't bring up the Chip window three times. An interesting new bit is the emotion marker. Usually, it's at normal, but if Megaman is damaged enough, you'll get desperate. At this time, after a certain bit in the story, you'll be able to use Dark Chips. The last one happens when you get bashed around a bunch; the marker goes red, and your next chip attack does double damage. Dark Chips are very powerful, but when you use them, 1) a glitch will affect Megaman, 2) you'll grow a little darker, and 3) you'll permanently lose 1 HP. Also, if you've used a Dark Chip in a battle and your HP gets to 0 in the same battle, you won't die, but you'll go berserk and lose all control of Megaman who will move around and use chips independently. Eventually, if you use Dark Chips enough, you'll turn evil, and can use DS Chips like Muramasa and BlakWing, but can't use certain regular chips. If you damage an enemy with a chip attack right before it attacks, the enemy will be stunned momentarily and you will go Full Synchro. While in this state, the next chip you use that does damage will do double damage. If you hit the enemy when it flashes red, you'll score multiple Counters and will be able to use x2 Attack chips. If you have Full Synchro at the end of a battle, it carries over to your next battle, unless you jack out. When you win a battle, the result screen will appear. This displays your busting time, and also your busting level, which is how well you busted the enemy on a scale from 1 to S. Last, you get a small reward, which is either money, a battlechip that is specific to the virus or Navi you just fought, or a health refill. Occasionally, you'll see a GMD in battle. If it survives the battle (it has 1 HP), you'll get whatever's inside. Remember both sides can damage it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3 - Walkthrough This walkthrough is NOT spoiler-free. It is, in fact, the very opposite. If you're beginning on Game 2 (Hard mode), you'll notice that your folder, NaviCust, Megaman stats, money and BugFrags are all the same. You'll also have e-mails describing DublSoul, NaviCust, and the three souls you have. Game 3 will be the same, except you'll have five soul e-mails. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.1 - The Attack Of Shademan -- Battle Intro -- You'll start with a scene from NAXA (no comment) where they see an asteroid heading to Earth. You'll then wake up as Lan in his room. Walk over to the PET and press A to pick it up. Megaman will tell you to check your mail, so do so to see a news alert. Go downstairs and talk to your dad, then your mom, then jack into the microwave. Some viruses will be attacking Mr. Prog, and you get to delete them. Normal: [Virus Battle: Mettaur, Mettaur] You'll get an impromptu tutorial here on chips. Select the two Cannons and get rid of the Mettaurs. [Virus Battle: Mettaur, Mettaur, Mettaur] More tutorial, this time on support chips. Grab an AreaGrab and a WideSwrd and destroy two Mettaurs, then finish the last one off however. [Virus Battle: Mettaur, Mettaur, Mettaur] In this last battle, you'll learn about the emotion marker and Full Synchro. Dispose of the Mettaurs to finish this tutorial. Hard: [Virus Battle: Mettaur2, Mettaur2] [Virus Battle: Mettaur2, Mettaur2, Mettaur2] [Virus Battle: Mettaur2, Mettaur2, Mettaur2] Super Hard: [Virus Battle: Mettaur3, Mettaur3] [Virus Battle: Mettaur3, Mettaur3, Mettaur3] [Virus Battle: Mettaur3, Mettaur3, Mettaur3] -- Net Intro -- Mr. Prog's still broken, so you need to get a RcvPatch from the Net. Talk to your Dad to get some money, then head up to your computer and jack in. Go through Lan's PC into the transporter, then follow the blue road all the way to the end of ACDC Area 3, but instead of exiting, turn left and follow the blue path to the Navi. Talk to him to buy RcvPatch, then jack out, go downstairs and talk to your dad. He'll fix the microwave, you'll eat breakfast, then you'll leave for town. -- Welcome To ACDC Town -- Dad will have to leave to send an e-mail, so go around town and talk to everyone. Two kids are in the park, two people are in front of Yai's mansion, and Dex is in front of his house. Head back to the station, and you and Dad will head to Elec Town. -- Welcome To Elec Town -- Talk to Dad to see some Engrish, then head down the street to the next area. You'll see a pointless scene, then you'll be in control again. Head left and talk to Mayl and Yai, then jack in to the stereo. Talk to Roll and Glide, then get the BMD in the corner for a RegUP1. Jack out and talk to Mayl and Yai again, then your Dad will say he has to go abroad, and Mayl and Yai will leave. Continue left to see a crowd looking at a speaker with his speaker. There's going to be a Netbattle tournament! Yay! Then everyone leaves. -- The Attack Begins -- Go to the previous area and talk to three people in distress near the stereo. Jack in and head forward to meet a vampire Navi, who will decide to feast on a female Navi (no comment). Jack out and head home, then jack in to your computer. Follow the blue path to ACDC Area 3 to see a scene between Roll and the vampire. When it's done, check your mail to get YaiCode, then continue to Town Area 1. Follow the path (the waffle area only goes one place) until you see the entrance to Town Area 2; go in and follow the path to the weird area. Find the upper teleporter (should be in the upper-left area; hug the right edge) and go in. Get the BMD, then use the exit to Town Area 1. Go down and through another teleporter. -- Loud -- Go forward to see the Navi. He'll leave, and you'll discover you're in the sound system. Jack out and head to Elec Town. Try to get to the speaker, and a scientist will stop you. Talk to him, then go back an area. Approach the fence and inspect the door to open it. Go up the stairs and through the next two areas to the speaker. It will then get very LOUD. Naturally, you'll run away. Go back to that stereo system and jack in, then talk to the green Navi to fight. Normal: [Navi Battle: NormlNavi] HP: 230 Strategy: Your first generic Navi battle. He's simple. Stomp him. Hard: [Navi Battle: NormlNavi] HP: 230 Strategy: Same as last time. Super Hard: [Navi Battle: NormlNavi] HP: 230 Strategy: And again. After winning, jack out and return to the upper level of the speaker area. Go around to the other side and jack in. -- Speaker System -- Go forward past the machine and talk to the Mr. Prog to get BootDatA, then go back to the machine and turn it on. Run around and get all three bats (try the corners), then go talk to Mr. Prog to remove the door. Go on to ElTwrComp2. Do the same in this room (grab the LongSwrd S for the LifeSrd P.A.), then go on to see Roll and Shademan. You'll wax manly, then Shademan will use sound to stop you. You'll revert to Lan. Go to the lower level of the sound system and inspect the volume knob. Back in Cyberworld, the sound will stop, and you'll do battle with Shademan. Normal: [Navi Battle: ShadM] HP: 500 Strategy: Don't even bother with chips. Hit him five times with your buster and the battle will stop. Hard: [Navi Battle: ShadM Alpha] HP: 800 Strategy: Shoot him five times to make him go away. Super Hard: [Navi Battle: ShadM Beta] HP: 1200 Strategy: Five hits and it's over. Chaud will show up, late as usual, and Protoman will attack Shademan. They'll both leave, Roll will thank you, and you'll inspect the item Shademan left behind. You'll get ???Data, then appear back in ACDC Town. -- Daruku Chipu -- I'm watching too much Axess...anyway, head left to Higsby's shop and go in. Talk to Higsby to find that the ???Data is the DarkChip. The more you use it, the more evil you will get. Also, your HP will drop. He'll tell you never to use it, which isn't bad advice. After that, you'll get mail from Dex, along with DexCode. Head home and go to bed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.2 - The Den/City Battle Tournament -- Registration Closes At 9:00 -- A scene will occur at NAXA, and Dr. Regal will be introduced. Keep an eye on this guy. Anyway, you'll wake up in a rush. Get to Elec Town and find Jomon in the square. He'll give you JomonCd and tell you to register. Head back to the stereo in the previous area and jack in to the computer screens on the opposite side of the corner. Go through this area to get to Town Area 2, then use JomonCd to get through the security cube. Head to where the transporter was, and find the stairs down near another transporter (hug the left edge). Go down to Town Area 3 and follow the path to an orange Navi. Register your initials, and don't mess up, since these will stick for the entire game. -- Boldly Going Nowhere -- Jack out and head back to the square. Talk to Jomon, and he'll tell you to follow him, and go exactly nowhere as some scientists show up. He'll tell you to talk to the scientists for some tasks. -- Your First Task: Run Around Aimlessly -- The blond scientist will want to help find Mettaur Village. Jack in somewhere and head to ACDC Area 2, near the exit to Area 3. Follow the winding path to find a purple Navi. He'll tell you to look in the Town Areas. Head to Town Area 2 and find the teleporter near the stairs to Town Area 3. Go in, then find the green Navi partially under a walkway. Talk to it, then jack out and head to Elec Town. Go up on the upper walkway (to the speaker system) but stop in the area before. Jack in to the Board that says AC and talk to the evil Navi. He'll give you LabData, then fight. Normal: [Virus Battle: Spikey, Spikey, HealNavi] The HealNavi's got a chip up his sleeve. Watch out for it. Not like it'll do much. Hard: [Virus Battle: Spikey2, Spikey2, HealNav Alpha] The HealNav's packing AreaGrab. Super Hard: [Virus Battle: Spikey3, Spikey3, HealNav Beta] Head back to the blond scientist and talk to him to complete the task. -- Your Second Task: Go Find Some Bugs -- Some idiot's writing his dissertation on a bug he's never seen; you need to find some. Head to ACDC Town and inspect the first tree in the park (from in the park) to get GoldBgF. Go into Yai's house and inspect her teddy bear to find GoldBgM. Go back to the scientist to complete this task. -- Your Third Task: Stuff -- The question is simple; the letters are the first letters in numbers. OTTFFSS = One Two Three Four Five Sex Seven. The next three are ENT (Eight Nine Ten). If she asks a math question, the answer is 0. You'll then battle. Normal: [Virus Battle: Mettaur, Mettaur, MettEX] [Virus Battle: Spikey, Spikey] [Virus Battle: MettEX, Billy, Boomer] Hard: [Virus Battle: Mettaur2, Mettaur2, Mett2EX] [Virus Battle: Spikey2, Spikey2] [Virus Battle: Mett2EX, Silly, Gloomer] Super Hard: [Virus Battle: Mettaur3, Mettaur3, Mett3EX] [Virus Battle: Spikey3, Spikey3] [Virus Battle: Mett3EX, Killy, Doomer] When you're done, talk to Jomon. He'll give you train access to DenDome. Go there. -- The Final Fleeting Moments Of Normality -- Go up the stairs here and head left to the back door. Go up more stairs and through the door, then talk to the official, who'll show you the pairings. They'll be more or less random, except for some requirements. Example: you WILL fight Gutsman your first time around. Remember that you'll only experience three of these every time you play through; it's the same with all the tournaments. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3.21 - The Sixth Sense (vs. Yuko) You'll muse over the name Ponta for a second. Leave, then you'll be freaked out by a girl who can apparently disappear. Her name's Yuko, and she wants to play. Go outside and talk to her, and you'll run around a lot. After this scene, read the mail from Mom (or not) and head back home. Talk to the guy there to find that Yuko can summon Navi ghosts, like some weird pixilated Shaman King. You need to take care of some. Jack into the Net and head to ACDC Area 1. Take note of the crystal in the corner, which will turn yellow, then red, near a ghost. Take the last left before the entrance to Area 2 and head to the square area, then press A in the top corner to send a normal Navi. Now go to ACDC Area 2 and press A behind the merchant (take the first right) to find an evil Navi. Normal: [Virus Battle: MettEX, MettEX] Hard: [Virus Battle: Mett2EX, Mett2EX] Super Hard: [Virus Battle: Mett3EX, Mett3EX] Head to ACDC Area 3 and head toward the end of the blue road, then go right near the skull door. At the bend in the right dead-end path is an evil Navi. Normal: [Virus Battle: MettEX, MettEX, Boomer] Hard: [Virus Battle: Mett2EX, Mett2EX, Gloomer] Super Hard: [Virus Battle: Mett3EX, Mett3EX, Doomer] Head now to Town Area 1 and go toward the top of the waffled area to find a normal Navi, who will give you a BugFrag. Continue along the path and past the Area 2 entrance. Go along past the blue door and take the next left. You'll find an evil Navi here. Normal: [Virus Battle: Melody, Melody] Hard: [Virus Battle: Hellody, Hellody] Super Hard: [Virus Battle: Felony, Felony] Go to Area 2 and head for the first dead end left of the upper transporter to find an evil Navi. Normal: [Virus Battle: MettEX, MettEX, VacuumFan] Delete the VacuumFan first. Or, if you have CrakOut's, use them. Hard: [Virus Battle: Mett2EX, Mett2EX, VacuFan2] Same as above. Super Hard: [Virus Battle: Mett3EX, Mett3EX, VacuFan3] And again. If you want, you can go to Town Area 3 and head to the top corner of the platform you registered on for another normal Navi. Anyway, jack out and talk to Yuko's father, then head to the DenDome and go through the doors the official blocked earlier. After a short scene, you'll battle Yuko and Ponta. Normal: [Navi Battle: NormlNav Alpha] HP: 300 Strategy: He's got a slow-moving cannon, a small bomb and a Recov50, and can summon certain viruses. Still should be a piece of cake, though. Hard: [Navi Battle: NormlNav Beta] HP: 800 Strategy: More difficult than before. He's got cross bombs, a HiCannon, and is packing Blinder. He can also summon Trumpy, use Wind, and can summon Tuby to confuse you. Super Hard: [Navi Battle: NormlNav Omega] HP: 1200 Strategy: This is not an easy battle by any means. He's got a super- annoying army of viruses to summon, and his attacks are pretty hard to avoid by this stage. He's really fast, so any form of GunSol is a bad idea. You'll need to give this a couple of shots, probably. After winning, you'll see that Yuko's actually dead, and she'll depart for the next world. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3.22 - The Case Of The Kidnapped Kid (vs. Gutsman) Dex'll come in, with Chisao, and you'll talk for a bit, then they'll run off. Leave the room and Dex will return with some great, erm, bad news - Chisao's gone! Mail will come in from the alleged kidnapper, saying to find the seven clues if Chisao is to live. And only Lan can do it. Your first clue: OMIQR LANUE DNSA! Read that top to bottom starting at the left to read 'OLD MAN IN SQUARE!' Head to Elec Town and talk to the old man in the square (near the speaker, at the end). Read your Memo: si ivan neerg eht !eerht aera nwot ni Read that right to left starting at the top to read 'the green navi is in town area three!' Head to Town Area 3 and take the first stairs up you see. Go left past the merchant and talk to the green Navi to get HintData. Read it: Might try looking in You side !flowers of vase the Go clockwise, starting with 'You' to get 'You might try looking inside the vase of flowers!' Head back to DenDome and go into the main entrance on the right. Inspect the flowers with a bow on them and you'll get mail from Chisao. He'll start to say he's in the park squirrel; go to ACDC Town and look at the squirrel in the park. You'll see some writing: E-TwrCo--2 M--Pr-g 3-d ---- right Fill in the blanks to get 'ElTwrComp2, Mr.Prog, 3rd from right'. Go to Elec Town and plug into the sound system, then go to the platform where you fought Shademan. Talk to the third Mr. Prog from the right to fight. Normal: [Virus Battle: MettEX, MettEX, Boomer] [Virus Battle: Billy, Melody, Melody] [Virus Battle: MettEX, Melody, Boomer] Hard: [Virus Battle: Mett2EX, Mett2EX, Gloomer] [Virus Battle: Silly, Hellody, Hellody] [Virus Battle: Mett2EX, Hellody, Gloomer] Super Hard: [Virus Battle: Mett3EX, Mett3EX, Doomer] [Virus Battle: Killy, Felony, Felony] [Virus Battle: Mett3EX, Felony, Doomer] You'll get a phone call from the kidnapper, saying he's got five bits of data placed around the net, and you've got to get them. Better hop to. 1. Head to ACDC Area 1 and follow the blue road; take the last left before Area 2 to find the first Navi, who'll just give it to you. 2. Head to ACDC Area 2 and buy a Bubbler R from the merchant for later. Then, go to ACDC Area 3 and run past the entrance to Town Area 1 and you'll run into the next Navi, who'll give it to you for 1000 Zennys. 3. Go to Town Area 1 and head a little past the Area 2 exit. You'll have to take a quiz. The answers are 'Personal Terminal', 'Giraffe', 'Jomon Electric', 'Nanako' and 'Hotdog Stand'. You'll get Data3. 4. Head to Town Area 2 and enter the lower teleporter. Give the Navi the Bubbler R you bought earlier in exchange for Data4. 5. Go to Town Area 3, to the platform where you registered. He'll fight you. Normal: [Virus Battle: MettEX, MettEX, HealNavi] Hard: [Virus Battle: Mett2EX, Mett2EX, HealNav Alpha] Super Hard: [Virus Battle: Mett3EX, Mett3EX, HealNav Beta] Jack out and head to the giant speaker's volume knob. You'll get a call, then you'll have to fight viruses. Normal: [Virus Battle: SpikeyEX, SpikeyEX, SpikeyEX] Hard: [Virus Battle: Spikey2EX, Spikey2EX, Spikey2EX] Super Hard: [Virus Battle: Spikey3EX, Spikey3EX, Spikey3EX] More talk. Chisao will appear. You'll appear at DenDome. Head in for your match against Gutsman. Normal: [Navi Battle: GutsM] HP: 500 Attacks: Pounds the ground, breaking a panel and dropping three rocks. Shoots you with what appears to be a buster. Strategy: His attacks mainly involve dropping rocks, shooting you and breaking panels. All of his attacks are fairly easy to avoid. Keep damaging him and he'll go down soon enough. Super Hard: [Navi Battle: GutsM Beta] HP: 1300 Attacks: Pounds the ground, breaking three panels and dropping three rocks. Shoots you with what appears to be a buster. Strategy: His attacks mainly involve dropping rocks, shooting you and breaking panels. All of his attacks are fairly easy to avoid. Keep damaging him and he'll go down soon enough. After winning, Chisao will confess to staging the kidnapping to help Dex win. After some words, you'll receive GutsSoul, which will work with any panel-breaking chips. Open up your mail to see an instructional program on using Souls. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3.23 - Somewhat Damaged (vs. Sparkman) After checking the board, you'll get e-mail from Jomon Electric, who's giving out free PET checkups. Go outside and talk to the guy who's dressed funny. He'll 'fix' your PET, then run off, leaving a Paper behind. But wait! He's stolen your folder! Head to Elec Town and talk to the woman window shopping in the second area nearest the square, then talk to the old man who's window shopping to see a scene. Check out the paper. This piece of paper will have seven clues on it. From my understanding, there are three possible sets of clues, so you'll probably have to go check out the clues. Also, if you don't want to run around, you can do a guessing game with the numbers. The old man will tell you how many were right each time you guess, so you can use that to change your guess until it's right. The two codes I found were 1563546 and 9651345, and a cool guy who goes by the name Vecktor found 7374262. When you're done, re-equip your folder and head to DenDome for your battle. Normal: [Navi Battle: SprkM] HP: 600 Attacks: Sends a mine at you that explodes in a checker pattern if it gets within one square of you. Sends a spark that touches every square in a pattern. Summons a shadow of you to use a random chip. Strategy: If he sends a mine at you, don't be at a square diagonal to it when it stops. The spark pattern is easy to avoid. I would suggest using charge shots in between chips. Hard: [Navi Battle: SprkM Alpha] HP: 1000 Attacks: Sends a mine at you that explodes in a checker pattern if it gets within one square of you. Sends a spark that touches every square in a pattern. Summons a shadow of you to use a random chip. Strategy: If he sends a mine at you, don't be at a square diagonal to it when it stops. The spark pattern is easy to see, but hard to avoid. And by gum, he's fast. This will take work. Super Hard; [Navi Battle: SprkM Beta] HP: 1200 Attacks: Sends a mine at you that explodes in a checker pattern if it gets within one square of you. Sends a spark that touches every square in a pattern. Summons a shadow of you to use a random chip. Strategy: If he sends a mine at you, don't be at a square diagonal to it when it stops. The spark pattern is easy to see, but hard to avoid. And by gum, he's fast. This will take work, since he moves so FAST. Most of the time he's GONE. When you're done, Terry will have words with his grandfather (the guy at Jomon Electric) and they'll both run off. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3.24 - ...And Not A Drop To Drink (vs. Aquaman) [Blue Moon] Your opponent's Aquaman. You'll get an e-mail from some e-tabloid saying water's in your future. Leave the room and go downstairs to find your opponent, Shuko, a real nutter of a girl. After she leaves, go outside to see her talking to Atsu and Ty. Aquaman'll end up on the receiving end of a misunderstanding, and is crying on the Net, which turns out ot be pretty bad. Talk to the guy outside to find the Net has been flooded. Say 'OK' and you'll get a CybCanst. Jack into the Net somewhere to see the water; you've got an air supply, as well, so be wary. Go to Town Area 2 and head to the empty circular platform. You'll talk, and when he leaves, head to ACDC Area 2. If you get near the Area 3 entrance, you'll see him reappear behind a gate you can't open. Jack out and return to DenDome. Talk to the other twin to find where Shuko is. Head to Elec Town and talk to Shuko to get ShukoKey. Return to ACDC Area 2 and open the door, then go through the warp point. Follow the path to Aquaman; you'll talk, and he'll bring the water down again. Jack out and head to the DenDome for your match. Normal: [Navi Battle: AquaM] HP: 500 Attacks: Shoots a Bubbler at you. Creates two pipes that shoot water. Strategy: When he creates the pipes, they'll only shoot water to the second-to-last row. Avoiding attacks is generally not a problem. Your best time to attack is when the pipes disappear. Try to use the LifeSrd P.A. when you get the chance; you should have it now. Super Hard: [Navi Battle: AquaM Beta] HP: 1500 Attacks: Shoots a Bubbler at you. Creates two pipes that shoot water. Hurls a water minibomb at you. Creates a single waterpipe. Strategy: When he creates the pipes, they'll only shoot water to the second-to-last row. Avoiding attacks is generally not a problem. Your best time to attack is when the pipes disappear. In all honesty, he's not too much different from before, except his minibomb is pretty big. Also, the single waterpipe can cut off passage from the top row to the bottom one. When you're done, you'll get AquaSoul. With AquaSoul, your buster will charge almost instantly. Very useful. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3.25 - You Spin Me Right Round (vs. Topman) Like a record, baby...your opponent's Topman. Leave the building and approach the square to see an old guy showing his grandson a very un- interesting top. The grandson will run off, and the top will break. Jack into it and inspect the Mettaur to fight. Normal: [Virus Battle: MettEX, Dharma, MettEX] Hard: [Virus Battle: Mett2EX, Karma, Mett2EX] Super Hard: [Virus Battle: Mett3EX, Dogma, Mett3EX] Jack out and the grandpa will yell at you. After some discussion, he'll shuffle off, leaving his top behind. You'll pick it up and look to give it back to him. Go to Elec Town and talk to him; he'll take it back and walk off. Head to ACDC Town and talk to the people in the park; they'll agree to help the old guy, named Tensuke, if you can answer four questions by their hidden Navis. If you answer wrong, you need to uncrick their backs by alternating hitting L and R a bunch. I guess questions/answers are random. They're not too hard or vital. 1. Go to Town Area 1 and go past the Area 2 entrance, then talk to the Navi. 2. Go to Town Area 2 and find the brown Navi between the warp points. 3. Go into the lower warp point in Town Area 2 and talk to the brown Navi. 4. Go to Town Area 3 and go up the stairs, then talk to the Navi near the merchant. Once you have all four pieces of data, you'll get Mmbrship. Jack out, go to Lan's room and jack in from there, then go to ACDC Area 1, open the nearest gate and talk to the brown Navi behind it to fight. Normal: [Virus Battle: Melody, Melody, Dharma] Hard: [Virus Battle: Hellody, Hellody, Karma] Super Hard: [Virus Battle: Felony, Felony, Dogma] You'll talk for a bit, and he may have agreed to help. Jack out and head to the Elec Town square. You'll see a pretty confusing scene. When you're done, head to DenDome for your match. Normal: [Navi Battle: TopM] HP: 600 Attacks: Shoots two tops at you. Drops on you as a top. Spins toward you. Strategy: The tops move diagonally forward, bouncing off edges. The falling top is easy to spot. He moves unusually fast for an old Navi, so be wary. Hard: [Navi Battle: TopM Alpha] HP: 900 Attacks: Shoots two/three tops at you. Drops on you as a top. Spins toward you in a straight line or diagonally. Strategy: The tops move diagonally forward, bouncing off edges. The falling top is easy to spot. He moves unusually fast for an old Navi, so be wary. Sometimes he'll fire tops and spin diagonally at you at the same time; this is hard to avoid, so keep on your toes. After the battle, Tensuke will get an unusual amount of support from former enemies. Standard revelatory post-battle stuff. Super Hard: [Navi Battle: TopM Beta] HP: 1200 Attacks: Shoots two/three tops at you. If you're three panels in front of a top or Topman, or any square diagonal to it, you won't get hit by its diagonal attack. Sometimes it doesn't help a lot, though. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3.26 - We All Danced In Fire... (vs. Fireman) [Red Sun] Well, well, haven't seen this Navi in a while. Mr. Match will pop up to say hi, and Lan immediately goes on the defensive. Match will leave, and Lan will realize he's hungry. Leave and talk to the girl outside the hot dog stand. She'll cook a hot dog, and Match will show up again. Apparently he's friends with the girl ever since he saved her business. Some thugs will show up and demand money, but Match will shoo them away. He'll then leave, saying you can eat his hot dog. Interesting. In a completely unrelated incident, her fryer will break. Jack into it and inspect the VolGear to fight. Hard: [Virus Battle: VulGear, VulGear] Super Hard: [Virus Battle: ValGear, ValGear] The fryer still doesn't work. You'll decide to go find Match. Head into the Waiting Room in the dome and talk to the guy in there to get FireID. Jack in somewhere and head to ACDC Area 3, then go left past the Town Area 1 entrance. Open the gate and take the warp, then follow the path to Fireman. He's talking to a couple of thug Navis, setting up some plan - but sparing the hot dog stand. You'll tell him about the fryer and he'll leave. Jack out and head to the hot dog stand. Talk to Match to find that he fixed it; he'll tell you off for deleting the virus that powered the fryer. Then he'll leave; head to the dome for your match. You were right, he's planning something with a group he formed once the WWW went kaput. One of his goons will call him up and revolt after some talk. The other goon will announce the plan to the populous. Match will ask Lan to help, for the girl's sake. You'll appear in the Waiting Room. Inspect the backpack on the other end of the table for the first igniter. Hard: [Virus Battle: Spikey2, Spikey2, Spikey2] Super Hard: [Virus Battle: Spikey3, Spikey3, Spikey3] The second igniter's in the vending machine in the room before this. Hard: [Virus Battle: Spikey2EX, VulGear, VulGear] Super Hard: [Virus Battle: Spikey3EX, ValGear, ValGear] Head back to the arena to find that there's one more igniter in the NetBattle machine, and it's a doozy. Jack in and inspect the machine. In this next bit, you'll have to disable all of the bombs before the timers reach 0. There's going to be one with a shorter fuse than the rest each time; it takes priority. After you do this a bunch, inspect the machine to battle. Hard: [Virus Battle: Spikey2, Spikey2, ValGearEX] Super Hard: [Virus Battle: Spikey3, Spikey3, ValGearEX] The MT was disabled successfully, the crooks are gone, and it's finally time for your match. Hard: [Navi Battle: FireM Alpha] HP: 1000 Attacks: Fires a stream of fire at you. Shoots fire bombs from his head that temporarily burn your panels. Fires a slower stream that sets individual panels on fire. Sets all but the center square on fire. Strategy: Don't know why he's Alpha, there's no normal Fireman. You'll need to pay close attention to see what attack he's using. The first stream moves rather fast, but the fire bombs are easy to dodge. The last two attacks are rather troublesome. Constant vigilance. You'll get FireSoul from the battle. Match will end up dumping the girl, but she's alright. Weird. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3.27 - Gungho Gang (vs. Tetsu) Is it just me, or are the blackouts in this scenario really long? Your opponent, a guy with too much hair, will come up and talk about honorable battle, then leave. Go outside, and two thugs will confront you and try to get 100,000z from you. Tetsu will jump on them from the top of the dome; they'll run off. You'll talk, then he'll leave. Head to the Elec Town square to see those two thugs again with Tetsu. Something's going down in Town Area 3. Jack in to the Jomon PC and head to Town Area 3. Go up near the merchant to see a Navi that's just beaten up 80 other Navis. He'll do just that. Head back to DenDome for your match. Hard: [Navi Battle: HealNav Alpha] HP: 800 Strategy: More powerful than the billion HealNav Alpha's you just fought, but still not a huge challenge. Super Hard: [Navi Battle: HealNav Beta] HP: 1100 Strategy: He's harder to hit now, but not too much more challenging. Standard parting words ensue. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3.28 - Save The Higsforest (vs. Numbrman) [Blue Moon] You're fighting Higsby and his Navi. Or so you think...an official- looking guy will give you a message saying that Higsby withdrew. You've got to get to the bottom of this. Head to Higsby's shop in ACDC Town and talk to the Higster. Looks like he's going out of business! A guy from NAM will come up and explain that Higsby's wasn't doing too well, so they're shutting it down to replace it with a shop specializing in scrub brushes. Higsby's going to have to turn some big profits to save his shop. Anyway, your job is to hand out the flyers to Navis/Mr. Progs. Jack into your PC and follow the path to Mr. Prog and give him one. Take the path down and give the Navi there a flyer. Head to ACDC Area 2 and take a left toward the merchant, then go down and give a flyer to the Navi there. Head to the square and give one to Mr. Prog, then give one to the Navi in the square. Go to ACDC Area 3 and follow the main road to a Navi and give him a HigsbyAd. Go to Town Area 1 and give a HigsbyAd to the Navi near the Town Area 2 entrance. Head into Area 2 and give a flyer to the orange Navi there, then give one to the orange Navi near the Area 3 entrance. Head into Area 3 and give one to the second Mr. Prog you see, then go to where you registered and give a flyer to the person there. By now you've given out 11 flyers, but you can still hand out 9 more. They're located in your stove, in the hot dog cart, in the stereo downtown, in the billboard where Mettaur Village was, and in the sound system. For now, head back to Higsby's shop and talk to Nanako. She'll give you a chip based on how many you gave out. The NAM guy will come in and gloat, then leave. Jack in somewhere and head to Town Area 1. Go past the exit and follow the path to the door. Numbrman's been locked up! Go back to Higsby's and talk to Nanako to get HigsbyKy. Return and unlock the door, then go on to a second one. I guess these are random, so here were my questions. E-mail me if you come across others, or if you don't. Hard: [Navi Battle: NmbrM Alpha] HP: 900 Attacks: Creates three number balls and sends them your way. Creates a triangular angle thing that flys into your area. Throws a die bomb into your area. Strategy: The ball attack isn't too hard to avoid; shoot the one with the smallest number on it. The triangle thing will either fly straight or circle around your area, so stay clear. Shoot at the dice like mad. He's really hard to hit because there are always things obstructing him. The only good time to hit him is after he throws a triangle. After the battle, you'll get NumSoul, which works with Atk+ chips. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.3 - We're Going To Disneyland! -- What's All This, Then? -- You'll be congratulated, interviewed, and presented with a really small trophy. Then, a scene at NAXA will take place. A week later, you'll muse over the DarkChip, then Mayl will come up and ask you over to her place. Read the mail, then go to Mayl's house (pink one next to yours). Talk to Mayl to get MaylCode, then jack into her computer and head out to Town Area 3. Normal: [Navi Battle: NormlNav Alpha] HP: 300 Strategy: This guy's got a chip, a Recov50, and knows how to use it. He can also summon viruses and use basic attacks. Still, he's a piece of cake, especially with GutsSoul. Flatten him. Hard: [Navi Battle: NormlNav Beta] HP: 800 Strategy: This guy's pretty irritating. He can summon lots of useful viruses, and has some other attacks not as effective. Should be sort of a challenge. Inspect the guard for his code, then rearrange the letters in numbered order to get RAEJDUK. Enter that code, then enter Park Area 1. -- Welcome To Happy Land -- So pink...anyway, follow the yellow/orange road until it ends, then take the pink winding path until you find the main road again. Soon, the weekend comes, and you'll have no choice but to answer your mail and learn about the deviling NaviCust. When you're done, head to the train station and go to Castillo. Talk to Mayl at the gate to go in, then talk to the park worker ahead. Jack in to the cart next to him and find the transporter. Talk the Mr. Prog to get CastlPCd, then go through the transporter into Park Area 1. -- Rescue Heroes...They Always Save The Day! -- Go to Park Area 2 and enter the transporter, then take the light pink path up past where you went last time. Go through (you'll pause to see Mayl chased by a vampire) until you find the Django model and inspect it to get GunSol1 G (you can only get it once). Come out to see a robot about to cleave Mayl's head. Go up and jack in. -- Halberd Princess -- Welcome to the worst part of the game. Talk to the Navi and tell him yes to start. You'll go for a bit, then stop at a story area with bits missing. Go and find the section with story bits and take 'Mirror', the bottom one, back to the story area. Continue to the next part, then go find the story bits and bring back 'Big Tree', the top one, to continue. At the next stop, you'll have to go and get 'MightyBl', the middle. Head to where you got Mayl ice cream and jack into the cart, then talk to the purple Navi. You'll have to fight. Normal: [Virus Battle: MettEX, BillyEX, TrumpyEX] Hard: [Virus Battle: Mett2EX, SillyEX, MuteAnt] Super Hard: [Virus Battle: Mett3EX, KillyEX, TrumpEX] (Thanks to everyone who e-mailed me about this.) ACDC Area 3. In the upper-right area, a green Navi will give you these for 3000 Zennys. 3 points: Castillo. An old man in the lower area, hidden by the cart, will give you these. Town Area 3. Talk to the Mr. Prog near the merchant. Park Area 2. Go into the teleporter near the Area 3 entrance and talk to the pink Navi. 2 points: ACDC Town. Go to Dex's house and inspect his Gamecube. Castillo. There's a woman partially hidden by the castle; talk to her. Castillo. Inspect the steel door in the lower square. Castillo. Talk to the boy in the haunted house. Town Area 1. Underneath a walkway neat the Area 2 entrance. 1 point: You start with one. ACDC Town. Inspect Mayl's teddy bear. ACDC Town. Inspect the chip shelf in Higsby's shop. ACDC Town. Inspect Yai's left giraffe shrub. ACDC Town. Inspect the painting behind Yai's couch. Elec Town. Inspect the metal door with kanji on it. Elec Town. Inspect the box behind the fence in the first area. Elec Town. Inspect the store Lan and his dad went into during the first Shademan scenario. Elec Town. Talk to a guy neat the exit to the square, partially hidden. Elec Town. Inspect the sound system computer on the upper level. DenDome. Inspect the bicycles. DenDome. Inspect the leftmost DenDome poster. DenDome. Talk to a guy partially hidden by the hot dog shop. DenDome. Talk to a kid walking behind the screens inside the main entrance. DenDome. Inspect the blue door inside the main entrance. DenDome. Inspect the trash can inside the contestant entrance. Castillo. Inspect the fountain. Castillo. Inspect the pirate ship in the lower square. ACDC Area 1. Talk to the Mr. Prog near the skull gate. Once you've got 50 points, go to the castle in Castillo that was closed on your last visit and talk to the employee there. You'll get a Fldr2, and then you'll get mail from Jomon Electric, saying they've put a banner on your HP, which is basically a link to their HP. Anyway go inside the castle. You've found the tournament site! The routine is same as last tournament, semi-random events. You'll automatically look at the tourney board. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3.41 - Bam! (vs. Flave) Your opponent's a rather confident curry chef. You'll talk, then he'll leave. Exit the castle and head for the lower square to see him make some curry. Judging by that old man, it's pretty good curry, too. After some more banter, he'll challenge you to a cookoff. You need to be getting ready. Go to the main square and you'll get e-mail from the 'Cooking Master', who'll give you ChefKey. Jack in to the cart and head to Park Area 2. Go through Park Area 2 normally until you see a blue gate; unlock it with ChefKey and take the path to the left. Talk to the orange Navi and he'll talk about how the cooking machine works. Go up to the pan and inspect it to start cooking. It's a sort of mini-game, really. Cut up the ingredients with B when they appear in front of you (takes some practice to get the timing right). Press A to push away Mettaurs. If any meat falls (it'll look sort of like radishes), let them fall in whole. With practice, he'll say you're good enough. You won't stop until you are. Now you'll need ingredients. Head to the end of Park Area 3, where you restarted the park in the second Shademan scenario. Talk to the black Navi to fight. Normal: [Virus Battle: MagTect, MagTect, ShrimpyEX] [Virus Battle: MettEX, BillyEX, ShrimpyEX] [Virus Battle: Shrimpy, Shrimpy, ShrimpyEX] Hard: [Virus Battle: MagTec+, MagTec+, Shrmpy2EX] [Virus Battle: Mett2EX, SillyEX, Shrmpy2EX] [Virus Battle: Shrimpy2, Shrimpy2, Shrmpy2EX] Super Hard: [Virus Battle: MagTecX, MagTecX, Shrmpy3EX] [Virus Battle: Mett3EX, KillyEX, Shrmpy3EX] [Virus Battle: Shrimpy3, Shrimpy3, Shrmpy3EX] When you're done, go back to the Cooking Master's Navi and talk; turns out the Cooking Master is upset with Flave because he doesn't understand the purpose of cooking - to make people happy. Jack out and go to the lower square and the cookoff will begin. Do the same thing you did in the cooking dojo. Flave's curry will make the old man explode (more or less), but with your curry, he'll get to see his dead wife. You win! Once everyone leaves, go to the castle to do battle. Normal: [Navi Battle: NormlNav Beta] HP: 800 Strategy: He's got cross bombs, and can summon some pretty irritating viruses. Keep your guard up and keep moving. You should have a couple of P.A.'s by now; use them to your advantage. Hard: [Navi Battle: NormlNav Omega] HP: 1200 Strategy: This is not an easy battle by any means. He's got a super- annoying army of viruses to summon, and his attacks are pretty hard to avoid by this stage. He's really fast, so any form of GunSol is a bad idea. You'll need to give this a couple of shots, probably. When you're done, you'll talk with Flave, and it'll turn out the Cooking Master is his dad. You'll end up parting on good terms. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3.42 - Ygolohcysp Esrever (vs. Videoman) After finding that your opponent is Videoman, his operator will come up and request you throw the fight, because Videoman is dying. You'll correctly sense that he's full of it, and he'll leave. Head to the end of Park Area 1 to find Videoman. Looks like it was a trap. He'll trap you in rewind, then send three tapes off to various areas. After he leaves, you'll still be trapped in rewind. Your controls are backward (not in battle, though). Head to Park Area 3. Watch out for the little squares; they'll send you back to the beginning of the area. Head toward the area with the switch to activate the rides and you'll find the first tape. Touch a rewind square to go back, then head to Town Area 2. Go to the lower area and grab Video2, then head to ACDC Area 2 and grab the last tape around the link to Dex's computer. After a scene, you'll turn back to normal. Head to the castle for your match. Normal: [Navi Battle: VideM] HP: 800 Attacks: Creates a reel of tape on four squares in your area. Plays back an image of Megaman, which attacks with an EnrgBom1, a twister, or a WideSwrd. Uses Rewind and regenerates health. Uses FastFwd and starts moving faster. Strategy: I HATE THIS GUY. I fought him a jillion times before I won. There are constantly two strings of tape appearing to block attacks; these strings go with one buster shot. When the reel appears, move off the lit squares. The playback is somewhat easy to avoid, if you move quickly. If he uses FastFwd, stay in the front of the middle row to avoid the reel attack more easily. A stunning attack will undo FastFwd or Rewind. Hard: [Navi Battle: VideM Alpha] HP: 1100 Attacks: Creates a reel of tape on four squares in your area. Plays back an image of Megaman, which attacks with an EnrgBom, a Tornado, or a WideSwrd. Uses Rewind and regenerates health. Uses FastFwd and starts moving faster. Strategy: Strange though it may be, Videoman was easier for me to defeat this time around. Super Hard: [Navi Battle: VideM Beta] HP: 1400 Attacks: Creates a reel of tape on four squares in your area. Plays back an image of Megaman, which attacks with an EnrgBom, a Tornado, or a WideSwrd. Uses Rewind and regenerates health. Uses FastFwd and starts moving faster. Strategy: He was more furstrating the third time, but the first time is still the hardest. After (if?) you beat him, Viddy and Videoman will argue a lot, then leave. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3.43 - Blowin' In The Wind (vs. Windman) [Red Sun] After reading the board, your opponent will come up and introduce herself as Lilly, priestess of such and such. After some friendly conversation (for once), you'll leave, and Lilly will...yeah. Anyway. Follow a scream to the lower square to see Lilly against Dracky. Jack into Dracky and follow the ferry to the end, then inspect the virus to fight. Normal: [Virus Battle: MettEX, Weather, VacuumFan] Hard: [Virus Battle: Mett2EX, Winger, VacuFan2] Super Hard: [Virus Battle: Mett3EX, Wither, VacuFan3] Jack out, and you'll talk with Lilly. Head home and you'll be interrupted by Lilly, who'll knock your PET into the water. Head home and talk to your mom, who'll make some lunch. After lunch, Lilly will show up, saying Windman's gone nuts, and asking for your help. You'll get the GrasFlut. Jack in and head to Park Area 3. When you get to Park Area, you'll notice various tornadoes moving about; avoid them. Now you know why Park Area is so strangely designed. Also, in battle, wind will toss everyone around. Make your way to the now-infamous park switch. You'll play the GrasFlut and Windman (and the Net) will return to normal. After some talk, you'll jack out. Head to the castle and talk to Lilly, then you'll go in for your match. You'll discover that Lilly's been drunk (score for Capcom!) during these escapades. Normal: [Navi Battle: WindM] HP: 800 Attacks: Sends a trio of birds at you. Sends two seeking mines at you. Sends three tornadoes at you. Strategy: This battle would be really easy if the wind wasn't always blowing/changing. The birds are simple to avoid, and the mines will only turn once. Super Hard: [Navi Battle: WindM Beta] HP: 1500 Attacks: Sends a trio of birds at you. Sends two seeking mines at you. Sends three tornadoes at you. Sends nine birds at you. Strategy: This time around, he is infuriating. The wind is killer. The birds are more difficult to avoid, but the mines still only turn once. Upon victory, you'll get WindSoul, which works with Wind chips (like AirShot). More friendly chatter with Lilly. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3.44 - When The Hills Of ACDC Are Burning... (vs. Burnman) Note: if you're wondering where the title comes from, listen to Bad Religion's "Los Angeles Is Burning". In fact, listen to it anyway. Your opponent's a new Navi, Burnman. Mr. Match will show up, looking for Burnman and his operator. A guy named Atsuki will show up, and he and Match will square off. Hot spirit, blah blah blah. They'll then agree to NetBattle, and leave. Leave the park and you'll get mail from your mom. Head home and she'll give you a WaterGun (to put out electrical fires?). Go up and jack in; it's hot. Head to ACDC Area 1 and you'll see some flames. Your WaterGun doesn't work too well, either. Head to Higsby's shop and you'll get a FireBstr. Go back home and inspect your PC and Megaman will get the FireBstr. To work this thing, you need to press B when the meter's at the top. If you have only a few fires, a little below will be okay, but with larger fires, if it's too low, you'll get burned and lose HP. Put out all the fires on the main ACDC road, then jack out. Head to Castillo and try to enter the castle to find the cart starts smoking. Jack into it and put out all of the fires here. Make your way to Park Area 3; you'll find Fireman and Burnman there. Put out the huge fire and there'll be more dialogue/fire. Once everyone leaves, head to the castle for your match. Normal: [Navi Battle: BurnM] HP: 700 Attacks: Shoots a stream of fire at you. Rushes at you shooting fire. Strategy: He's got two flaming jet things that will slide into your area and attack. It might be tricky to avoid both of those and Burnman's attacks. If you stay on the back row behind a jet as it rushes to you, it will stop in front of you and fire harmlessly. Hard: [Navi Battle: BurnM Alpha] HP: 1100 Attacks: Shoots a stream of fire at you. Super Hard: [Navi Battle: BurnM Beta] HP: 1500 Attacks: Shoots a stream of fire at you. Rushes at you shooting fire - twice. Strategy: He's got two flaming jet things that will slide into your area and attack. It might be tricky to avoid both of those and Burnman's attacks. If you stay on the back row behind a jet as it rushes to you, it will stop in front of you and fire harmlessly. In all honesty, he's no harder this time around. Match will talk some trash from the audience, and Atsuki will try blowing up the NetBattle machine. He'll just set himself on fire. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3.45 - Mega Gear Solid (vs. Riki) Your opponent's Navi is named Crusher. His operator, named Riki, will come in and say some arrogant, but still sort of good-spirited talk. Go outside and you'll see Riki talking to his boss. The boss wants him to head the Mafia, but he just wants to open a bakery. The boss will then take Crusher. You'll talk to Riki, but you'll be scared to take on the Mafia. Head to the lower level and you'll see a scene with the boss and a Mafia-looking guy. Go back up and jack into the cart. This is where you go all Solid Snake. There will be guards everywhere, and if they're ever looking directly at you, you'll be thrown to the beginning of the area. You'll probably be doing a lot of saving here. Sneak your way to the end of Park Area 3, with the restart button. You'll break Crusher out, but attract some guards. Normal: [Virus Battle: Weather, HealNavi, HealNavi] Hard: [Virus Battle: Winger, HealNav Alpha, HealNav Alpha] Super Hard: [Virus Battle: Wither, HealNav Beta, HealNav Beta] Go talk to Riki and he'll thank you. Some Mafia henchmen will try to kill you, but the boss will come up and knock them out cold (?). Head into the castle for your match. Normal: [Navi Battle: HealNav Alpha] HP: 800 Strategy: The chip he's carrying is an AreaGrab. Otherwise, standard HealNavi fare. This guy summons a lot of viruses, though. Hard: [Navi Battle: HealNav Beta] HP: 1100 Strategy: He's got a HeroSwrd and some Balls, and likes summoning viruses. Super Hard: [Navi Battle: HealNav Beta] HP: 1100 Strategy: He's got a HeroSwrd and some Balls, and likes summoning viruses. You'll part on good terms. Riki's gonna talk with the boss about the bakery. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3.46 - Enviro-Extremism (vs. Woodman) [Blue Moon] Note: if you're running an emulator, your game may lock up a bunch here. If you use VisualBoyAdvance 0.8, it won't crash, interestingly. Thanks to the GameFAQs Blue Moon board for that information. Your opponents are Sal and Woodman. Go outside to get mail from her; she's selling sandwiches in ACDC park. Go there and talk to her; she'll give you a boxed lunch. Some guys will come up and discuss destroying the park to put up large buildings. Sal will leave for Elec Town. Head to the square in Elec Town and you'll see her talking with some friends, I guess. Some people are warping the minds of the environmentalists, and they're planting Cyberbombs on the Net. She'll ask you to go to DenDome to talk to the mayor. Head to DenDome and enter the battle arena to see an old guy make a speech against the environment. You'll push him out of the way and jack into the machine. Go talk to the green Navi to fight. Normal: [Virus Battle: MagTect, Walla, Walla] Hard: [Virus Battle: MagTec+, Walland, Walland] Super Hard: [Virus Battle: MagTecX, Waldon, Waldon] After the battle, check your mail, then head to Castillo and talk to Sal. She's upset because she can't contact Woodman. Cut to Park Area 3. An orange Navi is convincing Woodman to destroy the Net. Cut to Lan. Jack into the cart and head to Park Area 1. This is where the emulator may crash. Anyway. As you head through, a tree will come and cut you off. These things are everywhere, and if you're hit by one, you'll lose a bit of HP. Head to Park Area 3, where Woodman is. You'll talk for a bit, then the orange Navi will come back. Woodman will tell him off, then kick his butt with a wood tower. You'll jack out. Talk to Sal, then enter the castle for your match. Normal: [Navi Battle: WoodM] HP: 1000 Attacks: Shoots out slow-moving seeds. Jumps and hits the ground, causing wood towers to pop up in your area, up to three times consecutively. Strategy: Logs will be rolling at you this entire time. Fire chips are effective, no doubt. Overall, this battle isn't very difficult. It may take a while to whittle his health down, but avoiding attacks is easy. AquaSoul is useful, IMHO. If you've got a Magnum, you can take out the back row and stop all of the logs. Hard: [Navi Battle: WoodM Alpha] HP: 1500 Attacks: Shoots out seeds. Jumps and hits the ground, causing wood towers to pop up in your area, up to three times consecutively. Strategy: Logs will be rolling at you this entire time. Fire chips are effective, no doubt. This battle's gotten a bit more annoying this time around. The attacks may overwhelm you with their all-at-the-same-time- ness. I guess something about this battle gives Megaman a craving for Dark chips. If you've got a Magnum, you can take out the back row and stop all of the logs. When you're done, you'll get yourself a WoodSoul, which works with wood chips, such as Boomer1. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3.47 - Rock And Roll (vs. Roll) [Red Sun] I'll have you know I went through a medley of horrible puns, and this one seemed most fitting; Chibi Soma took the only good one. Anyway, Mayl and Roll somehow made it this far without us knowing. You'll muse, then Mayl will be talking with Yai in the lower square; looks like someone's stalking Roll. Exit the castle and Yai will run up, saying that someone's kidnapped Roll! Jack into the cart there and head to Park Area 1, then talk to Glide when you see him (you will). Head to Park Area 3 to see a scene with Roll, a mysterious Navi, and a bunch of Mettaurs. You can't get to where Roll is, so head to ACDC Area 2. The stalker Navi will be shopping there; talk to him to fight. Normal: [Virus Battle: Weather, LarkEX, LarkEX] Hard: [Virus Battle: Winger, BarkEX, BarkEX] Super Hard: [Virus Battle: Wither, TarkEX, TarkEX] After the battle, you'll get RoomKey. Return to Park Area 3 and get to the lower level, then take the large conveyor belt right when you see it. Go up from there, and open the blue gate with RoomKey. Follow the path to find Roll, who has obtained the Mettaur's loyalty. Some conversation will take place, you'll imply that she's too weak to fight, and the rest is history. Jack out and head into the castle at Castillo , and Roll will e-mail you. Head to Mayl's house and jack into her teddy bear, then talk to Roll; she wants to play tag to prove her speed. This bit's a bit weird; you need to go up to Roll and press A to tag her, but she's moving really fast. At some point, she'll stop for a second; run for her then. Do it three times to win. (She appeared right in front of me three times.) She'll jack out; follow suit and head for the castle for your match. Hard: [Navi Battle: Roll Alpha] HP: 1000 Attacks: She'll summon a MettEX or a BillyEX to help fight. Fires an arrow at you, taking a battle chip. Appears in front of you and hits you with those things on her head. Strategy: For all that speed talk, she's not any faster than any other Navi, although she may teleport to another space pretty quickly. Get out of the way of the arrow if you want to keep your chips. Otherwise, this isn't too difficult. You'll praise Mayl and Roll for their mad skillz, and you'll get RollSoul, which activates with recovery chips (and has recovery powers - rock!). Yai will come down and tell Mayl how great she was. Mayl will leave, and Yai will tell you why Mayl joined the tournament (not telling - ha ha). They'll leave, and Lan will prove that he is still completely clueless. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3.48 - Boulder Dash (vs. Metalman) [Blue Moon] Another familiar pair o' opponents, Tamako and Metalman. Tamako will come up and introduce herself (though you should know her already from MMBN3), then have you follow her. Go to the lower square to find Tamako with a boulder. She'll try to break it, then justify her lack of rock- breaking with some metaphor. You need to work on your fighting spirit. She'll give you GateData and tell you to go to Town Area 4. Jack in somewhere and head to Town Area 2, then go to the lower level and open the gate in the left corner. Follow the path to Drunken Master, who wants some booze (score for Capcom!) Head to Park Area 1 and head for the upper level, near the Town Area 3 exit. Talk to the green Navi to buy some CybrJrky for 500z. Head for Park Area 2 and talk to the purple Navi you see about halfway along. He'll trade you VirusCln for a Spreader L, which you can buy from Higsby. Return to Drunken Master and he'll teach you about breaking boulders. Go up to a boulder and press A, then hit B when the line hits the center of the meter. Do this to three boulders in 20 seconds, then talk to DM to complete your training. Return to Castillo and jack into the cart in the lower square. Talk to Metalman to have a smash-off. Break more boulders than Metalman three times to win. The harder ones don't give you more points. Once you're done, head to the castle for your match. Super Hard: [Navi Battle: MetlM Beta] HP: 1600 Attacks: Throws a metal blade around the stage like a boomerang. Throws a metal blade straight at you. GearChng. The gears appear on your panels, or return to one each. Fires missiles at your panels. Appears in front of you and punches your panel, breaking it. Strategy: The gears are the worst things ever. They're always getting in the way, and the attacks, consequently, are difficult to avoid. Metalman's not too easy to hit, either. Try to use large chips that do lots of damage. When you win, you'll get MetlSoul, which works with breaking chips (with the ball as the elemental picture). Tamako will go in front of the camera and advertise the Ura Inn (and get in trouble for it). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.5 - Electopia's Finest -- The Presence Of The Dark Soul -- You've won! You'll get a slighty bigger trophy and the knowledge that you're the stompingest NetBattler in Electopia. Hooray! Anyway. You'll start to leave, but then Nebula will strike again. Go jack into the NetBattle machine and you'll meet Laserman for the first time. You'll talk about Dark Souls, then Gutsman/Aquaman will show up. Laserman will put your Dark Soul in Gutsman/Aquaman. You'll then do battle. [Red Sun] Normal: [Navi Battle: GtsMDS] HP: 600 Attacks: Pounds the floor, cracking a panel and making three rocks drop. Whatever you've got in your folder. Strategy: He's got all your attacks. If you've packed a killer folder, you'll be kicking yourself about now, probably. This guy moves fast, and the cracking panels can get irritating. Constant vigilance. If you've got WindSoul, however, this is simple. Hard: [Navi Battle: GtsMDS] HP: 800 Attacks: Pounds the floor, cracking a panel and making three rocks drop. Whatever you've got in your folder. Strategy: This guy's no harder the second time around, just takes longer. He's got all your attacks. If you've packed a killer folder, you'll be kicking yourself about now, probably. This guy moves fast, and the cracking panels can get irritating. Constant vigilance. If you've got WindSoul, however, this is simple. Remember not to stay in front of him if you've packed a RedSun. Super Hard: [Navi Battle: GtsMDS] HP: 900 Attacks: Pounds the floor, cracking a panel and making three rocks drop. Whatever you've got in your folder. Strategy: This guy's no harder the third time around, just takes longer. [Blue Moon] Normal: [Navi Battle: AquMDS] HP: 500? I forgot to get that. Attacks: Fires bubbles that hit two squares. Creates two pipes to fire water. Whatever you've got in your folder. Strategy: What's yours is his. Still a relatively easy battle. Aquaman's a pretty slow mover. Try not to stand in front of him too much, he may break out a Vulcan chip. Hard: [Navi Battle: AquMDS] HP: 800 Attacks: Fires bubbles that hit two squares. Creates two pipes to fire water. Whatever you've got in your folder. Strategy: What's yours is his. Still a relatively easy battle. Aquaman's a pretty slow mover. Try not to stand in front of him too much, he may break out a Vulcan chip. Remember not to stay in front of him if you've packed a BlueMoon. Super Hard: [Navi Battle: AquMDS] HP: 800 Attacks: Fires bubbles that hit two squares. -- Humanity's Second-To-Last, And Last, Hopes, In That Order -- After the battle, Laserman will put your Dark Soul back. After some Dark Soul talk, everyone will jack out. A week later, the fine folks at NAXA will try their laser plan. One shot, not allowed to miss...and it gets screwed up. Dang. We're screwed, unless Dr. Regal can get a great operator and Navi. At the same time, you'll be talking with your Navi buddies in ACDC Area. An orange Navi will come up and inform you that you're going to be in the world championship NetBattle tournament - the Red Sun/Blue Moon Tournament. You'll get a Ticket to go to Netopia. Lucky you! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.6 - The Red Sun/Blue Moon Tournament -- Sightseeing -- One week later, you're ready to go. Head to the station and go to the airport, then to Netopia. Upon arrival, check your e-mail, then go down and left and talk to the guy there. He's your guide all right - name's Bonds, and he'll give you a NetPassp, letting you access foreign Nets. Go up the stairs near the station and talk to the woman there to get some chocolate (hold out for 250z). Then talk to the old guy to fight some viruses from his Wowzer Box. Normal: [Virus Battle: Walla, Walla, GaiaEX] Hard: [Virus Battle: Walland, Walland, Gaia+EX] Super Hard: [Virus Battle: Waldon, Waldon, GaiaMegEX] After that, go and talk to the boy on the right side of this area, then go into the alley. Talk to everyone here. You can jack into the chariot statue and get the BMD to add to your NaviCust map. -- This Happens To Me All The Time -- When you're done, go back and talk to the guide. He'll start leading you to your hotel, but a guy in a car will pull up and knock you out. You'll wake up in a hotel room, and overhear the kidnapper saying he broke the key into four and hid it in Netopia Area. You've got to look for it. Inspect the bust on the dresser to jack into it. -- Key Search -- When in the first area, find the program and talk to it to get HotelPCd. Find the warp point and go through to enter Netopia Area. Go along the upper-right path and inspect the box at the end. You'll get KeyDataB, but it's booby trapped! Go through the exit to enter Sharo Area; follow the upper-right wall (don't touch the conveyors) until you see the idol, then go up and inspect it to get it. Some officials will come out and talk about Protoman's DarkSoul. Chaud will then call, wishing to talk. Head to the hotel; Chaud will be on the bed. Turns out Protoman is possessed by a DarkSoul after all; Chaud used a DarkChip while being attacked by 500 Syndicate Navis. Suddenly, Protoman will jack himself into the Net. Chaud will leave, and you'll jack in. You'll see a scene with Protoman in the Undernet. Head to NetFrica Area and find the warp to the idol, then go past it and take the path up to Sharo Area. You'll get mail from Chaud. Go to the end of the path and talk to the Navi - looks like you'll need the C-Slider. Go to NetFrica Area and take the northern exit to Sharo. Talk to the orange Navi. Now you need to collect the parts. Buy the BordPart in the lower part of Town Area 2 for 2000 Zennys. Buy the JetParts from a Navi in lower Town Area 3 for 3000 Zennys (go through Park Area 1). Get the WingPart in Yumland (Navi under a slope) for 4000 Zennys. Head to Sharo Area and find the door to unlock for 500 Zennys. Talk to the girl behind it to get the C-Slider. Right. Return to the orange Navi in Sharo and go along the small path, then enter the Undernet. This is the single most maze-like part of the game. Chaud will contact you with a line to connect to Megaman, so he can command him; press L to talk to Chaud when you need to. At the first split here, go forward, then head to the left corner. Continue until you come to a 'Y' sort of split. Take the right path and enter the transporter. A big door will be in the way. Chaud will tel you to find Redkey somewhere in Undernet 1, in the middle of four bones, he says. Take the warp and get on the conveyor belt to return to the beginning. Follow the path you were on before until you come across four fangs in the path (no, it's not right in the beginning). Return to the wall and go through. In this area, go up the ramp at the first junction, then go back left and go down the ramp. Go right and past the ramp, then follow this path to the end to find that you need BlueKey and GreenKey. The BlueKey's in the right corner of the only square you can see when you're right next to the door. On this same square is the other addition to your NaviCust map. Go there, then head back along the path. When you see two conveyor belts at a corner, take both of them, then search on the panel on which you now stand. Return to the door to go through. To get through this area, take a left at the first junction, then go forward, then two rights. Go through the warp points until you're on the red path, then head forward to the door. You need YelowKey, WhiteKey and BlackKey. For YelowKey, go back through all of the warps, then go as far up-right as you can. You'll find nine fangs in a row - search the panel in front of the middle one. Go to the other end of this area to find the corner with six bones. Search the corner for WhiteKey. For BlackKey, take the warp you took to get to the door, then when you're on the platform with two warps, search the bottom corner. Return to the door and open it, then continue to Undernet 6. In here, take the closer stairs and follow the path to the conveyors. Take the left conveyor when you get the chance to walk on the wide ramp. Talk to the Navi at the end to fight. (In Japanese, Chaud told Lan to go Full Synchro, which they did, knocking Protoman out. When he woke up, he remembered nothing.) Chaud will head for the colosseum. Follow him for your match. Normal: [Navi Battle: ProtM] HP: 1000 Attacks: Moves in front of you and uses WideSwrd. Moves to the front row and uses HeroSwrd. Strategy: The only time you can hurt Protoman is right after he's attacked. Stay in the center of your area. If he uses WideSwrd, move back one and strike. If he uses HeroSwrd, move up or down. Other times, he puts up a shield when you attack. Really annoying battle, mostly because there's basically no time between when he moves to strike and when he strikes. Super Hard: [Navi Battle: ProtM Beta] HP: 1600 Attacks: Moves in front of you and uses WideSwrd. Moves behind you and uses WideSwrd. Moves to the front row and uses HeroSwrd. Uses the Delta Ray Edge. Strategy: This isn't going to be fun. The only time you can hurt Protoman is right after he's attacked. Stay in the center of your area. If he uses WideSwrd, move back one and strike. If he uses HeroSwrd, move up or down. Other times, he puts up a shield when you attack. Really annoying battle, mostly because there's basically no time between when he moves to strike and when he strikes. Useful: he'll move four times after an attack, then move to attack again, unless he uses Delta Ray Edge. I think the only way to avoid Delta Ray Edge is to move down, then back. He won't adjust to hit you, he needs to complete the triangle. If you get to the back row before he hits from behind, he'll stop. He'll glint before he does it, but you'll have basically no time to move. After the battle, Lan doesn't care about Chaud much more than he did before, but Megaman got himself a ProtSoul. Follow this path until you find Kendoman. Talk to him, and he'll make you call him Master Kendoman. He'll mistake you for a student and give you a CybrSwrd. You've got to practice Kendo. He's got three practice machines, one in Yumland, one in Sharo and one in Netopia. Head to Netopia and jack into the hotel room, then head to Yumland Area (the lower-right exit). Follow the main road until you find the training machine. This is an interesting sort of game. You need to press the proper arrow with A according to how he moves. Press the arrow that appears with the A button. If he says Block!, you need to press Left+A; it's hard to time that right, though. You've got 50 seconds. He'll give you License1 when you're done. Head to Netopia Area and go up the ramp to Sharo, then spar with the Kendo machine here to get License2. Continue on to Sharo Area and head right to find the last training machine and get License3. When you're done, head back to NetFrica and talk to Kendoman. He'll apologize for grilling you, then you'll both jack out. Head to the colosseum for your match. Mr. Famous won't show up, and he doesn't have much time to do so. Head to NetFrica (real world) and approach the ramp to see a scene. Some lions have some villagers trapped! A weirdo will come up and, after some talk, mention Footbomb. It's a cybergame, like CyberSoccer, except they use bombs instead. You need to get some BmbShoes in order to play FootBomb. Go to the hotel and jack in, then head to the NetFrica Area exit and talk to the Navi there. Give him a Guard1 A and he'll give you BmbShoes. Read the mail from the weirdo, then jack out and head to where you met the tour guide. Jack in to the statue and talk to the Navi, then select What is this? to learn how to play Footbomb. The kicker needs to press A and a direction to try and get the bomb past the goalie. The goalie needs to pick the proper direction to block the ball. It's kind of like Rock Paper Scissors. Once you win, he'll look for a large area to run around in. Head to NetFrica Area and go to the platform to the left of the statue warp. Talk to him; he'll want to play again with a PowerBomb, inside HeroComp. Head back to Netopia and jack into the chariot statue outside the colosseum. Talk to the Navi to play. Once you win, the Navi will go insane. Head to the colosseum for your match. Hard: [Navi Battle: NormlNav Omega] HP: 1200 Strategy: This is not an easy battle by any means. Everyone will leave happy. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3.67 - Trash Of The Titans (vs. Junkman) [Blue Moon] Looks like Junkman got an extreme makeover since Mega Man 7. Anyway, Megaman feels like he's being watched. An official will show up and say there's a lot of trash in Yumland area. Yea, we can check it out. Head to the station and go to Yumland. Go to the second area and jack into the four goddess statues. Talk to the purple Navi and pay him 6000z to get YumLandC. Go into Yumland Area and get to the main road, then follow it right and talk to the Navi near the trash. He'll give you TrashKey; use it to open the door. Go forward and you'll narrowly miss some falling trash. You'll keep running forward from trash until you reach a dead end and Megaman gets kayoed. When he coems to, he's not really being himself. Keep pressing L to talk to Megaman a bunch. The answers to the forthcoming questions are 35 pts, hamburgers, and...none of the last answers are right. Looks like Megaman's been possessed by Junkman. Jack into the statues again. In battle here, you'll start out confused; don't fret over it too much. Head to where the TrashKey door was, then inspect the first pile of trash. Normal: [Virus Battle: LarkEX, BoomerEX] Hard: [Virus Battle: BarkEX, GloomerEX] Super Hard: [Virus Battle: TarkEX, DoomerEX] Go to the next pile. Junkman will reveal he was born in this junkyard, then threatens to kill Megaman after the match. Megaman will talk about Junkman's suffering, and will say to look for a big guy. You'll jack out. Talk to the nearest old man, then head to the first area of Yumland and talk to the girl neat the entrance to the Buddha. Go up to Buddha's face and jack in. Talk to Mr. Prog and he'll give you KindData to give to Junkman. Head to the colosseum for your match. You'll try to give Junkman the KindData, but he'll destroy it. Hard: [Navi Battle: JunkM Alpha] HP: 1100 Attacks: Fires screws at you. Shoots his arm at you. Strategy: There's always trash flying at you, and it's way annoying. If you shoot it, it will slow down. The combined attacks are extremely difficult to avoid. You're not going to like this one. Junkman will reveal that he was going to be deleted anyway. He'll apologize for being mean, and after some therapy talk, you'll get JunkSoul. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3.68 - Sniped (vs. Serchman) [Red Sun] Apparently your opponent, Serchman, is hardcore talented. Leave the colosseum and start back toward the Netopia streets; you'll be stopped by Serchman's rather androgynous operator, Raika. You'll exchange some harsh words, and (s)he'll slug you. (S)he'll head off to try and stop Nebula; once you recover, head for Sharo. Get to the space center and talk to the scientist to find that Raika's a guy, and is on an important mission. He'll test your skills with a few viruses. The official will give you CopyKey, but you're not ready to jack in. In order to get to the Undernet, you'll need the C-Slider. Head back to the orange Navi in Sharo and go on the rail, then head into the Undernet. Go along the main path here to the square, then what the crap someone's shooting at you. Hit the directional button to move out of the way. This is going to be happening ALL THE WAY TO UNDERNET 6. Constant vigilance. From this square, go up-left, then go to the leftmost corner of here. Go down to the lowerst path, then continue to a Y-like split. Take the right path and follow the warp to Undernet 2. Here, go to the end of this straight road, then go around until the junction. Go left and down the stairs, then go right, then go past all of the stairs until the last one. Go up and go right, and the path will take you to Undernet 3. In here, there are two warps to take; one near the bottom-left, and one in the middle. Take the middle warp, then follow the path straight to Undernet 6. Here, take the left slope at the junction, then follow the straightforward path until you need to decide between a wide slope and a skinny slope. Take the skinny one, then head down the right slope at the junction. Use CopyKey on the door at the end here, then head in and talk to the black Navi to fight. You'll look up to see that Serchman was behind the attacks the whole time. Apparently, you have a 1% chance of victory. Forget that, go to the colosseum and kick some butt. Super Hard: [Navi Battle: SrchM Beta] HP: 1500 Attacks: Goes into a hole and throws out three grenades that explode in + patterns. Locks onto you and shoots you. A moving target appears on the field; if you step on it, a laser appears and strikes in a + pattern. Strategy: Couple of rocks on the field...anyway. The grenade attack is easy to avoid, if you keep your wits about you. The instant crosshairs appear on you, MOVE. When you win, you'll talk about bonding with Navis, then Raika will get a call from the president of Sharo; he is to be punished for failing to demonstrate Sharo's military power. He'll leave, and Megaman will get himself a SrchSoul. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.7 - The Final Trial -- King Of The Hill -- Holy cow, you're the best NetBattler on Earth. Awesome. Before you can celebrate, a helicopter comes down. You need to get on and get going. You'll end up at NAXA, and an official will inform you that you need to save the world. Again. Ah well. -- So What's The Plan? -- Check your e-mail to find a banner for the hotel is now on your HP. Enter the NAXA building and get on the conveyor belt, then go up the stairs and enter the room on the far left. You and your dad will be surprised to see each other, but no time for that now. Turns out the asteroid's actually a rocket from another planet that accumulated mass, and as such, it has a Cyberworld. Lan needs to jack in and change the asteroid's course. The other tournament winner is doing something else. But, red alert! Nebula's destroying the Net! You need to stop them! -- YumLand -- Talk to your dad to get your first GigaChip, either RedSun R or BlueMoon B. It's plenty powerful. Leave NAXA to find that you can travel all over the world. First, head to Yumland and enter the second area (hard to find), then jack into one of the four goddess statues. Talk to the purple Navi on the left to give him 6000 Zennys in exchange for YumLandC if you don't have it, then go through the warp and unlock the cube. Turns out the only way to get at the culprit is to go through the Undernet. He'll give you TownKyDt. Head to Town Area 2 and take the warp to the lower area. Unlock the blue gate to enter Town Area 4. Take the conveyor belts to the upper corner, then go up-right onto an invisible path. Talk to the Navi to get GunSol2 G, which will help later. Elsewhere, Regal will notice the Transmtr has stopped, which means Megaman's been deleted. He'll opt to send his Navi instead. -- And The Plot Thickens -- But Megaman's okay! Roll, Gutsman and Glide blocked the attack with barriers. Head back to NAXA and go inside; talk to the guy in the center of the first floor to get DadsNote. Go up the stairs and into the elevator. Regal's about to send his Navi, and everyone else moves away to safety. Except for Dr. Hikari, who finally figured Regal out - he's the leader of Nebula! You'll arrive and run toward Regal and Hikari, but the bridge will be destroyed - you'll make it back down in time. But Regal will knock out Hikari. He'll then transmit Laserman to the asteroid. You'll read DadsNote, which says to jack into the generator. You'll do just that, sending Earth's last hope to the asteroid to stop Laserman. -- The Asteroid -- If ever there was a maze in the BN series, here it is. You'll notice little panels with dots on them like dice - you've got to go through them in the right order. If you do it wrong, you'll be sent back to the beginning of the area and it'll be reset. Every once in a while, a black hole will open and try to suck Megaman in. Press A like mas to escape when this happens. Below is the list of directions to take at each junction, which is to say, a meeting of two or more paths. Not a corner. I changed the directions so they're easier to follow. Area 1: Up-left, up-right, up-left, down-left, down-right (#1), down-left (#2), up-left, down-left, down-right (#3). A portal will open to the next area. Normal: [Navi Battle: LasrM] HP: 1000 Attacks: Shoots at the ground, attacking panels in a plus and cracking the middle panel. Fires an energy beam. Fires at the ceiling and makes rubble fall. DarkLase. Opens a hole in the ground to regenerate his health. Strategy: If he ever opens a hole, crack the panel it's on and it will close. Other than that, whoo. The plus attack is hard to avoid, as it covers a large area. The rubble attack is easier to avoid. Interesting bit: stay on the center of the back row, and he'll crack the middle panel with a plus. Stand on it to create a hole, and return to the center of the back. He'll keep firing pluses at the hole, and they'll do nothing. Hm. If he sticks his hand out for a blast, move immediately, as time stops while he fires. This isn't my favorite battle, needless to say. A Laserman tip from reader Xeno: "On your statagey against laserman I realized that you said you had to do but really all you have to do is use the windsoul and shoot him with the windsouls buster attack and he won't shoot back or move as long as you keep shooting him with it I just tried it out." Ingenious! Laserman will comment on your DarkSoul before blowing up. Back on Earth, Regal will insult you for destroying the only Navi capable of controlling the asteroid. Use a FullEnrg, but remember that they carry over to Game 2 (contrary to what I thought previously). AND SAVE. NOW. You can't start Game 2 or 3 (or 4 - but who cares) if you don't. Lastly, rid your folder of any chips that move your opponent, take panels, affect the ground, and don't attack a distant opponent. If you have any PnlRetrns, put them in. Lastly, use Wind chips if you have WindSoul. Go through the door. -- The Long And Winding Road -- Follow the road until you get to the end. Megaman will see the control system, but he'll be stopped by the floating head of Duo, who operates the rocket. It was fired from his planet to destroy Earth because humans are so evil. He'll say 'Boo!' and rip out your DarkSoul. Prepare for battle. Normal: [Navi Battle: MgaMDS] HP: What's your HP? Attacks: What are your attacks? Strategy: He's got your attacks, but prefers to use his buster, which does very little damage. Only problem is, holy cow, he's fast. Regardless, this battle should go pretty quickly. I guarantee you have nowhere near the HP of any really powerful Navi. Use a couple of Magnums or something. Hard: [Navi Battle: MgaMDS] HP: What's your HP? Attacks: What are your attacks? Strategy: Same as last time, except as your Megaman has improved, so has this guy. He likes using powerful chips, like RedSun/BlueMoon, and P.A.'s. Super Hard: [Navi Battle: MgaMDS] HP: What's your HP? Attacks: What are your attacks? Strategy: Same as last time, except as your Megaman has improved, so has this guy. He likes using powerful chips, like RedSun/BlueMoon, and P.A.'s. -- The End -- When you're done, you'll talk more about evil, then, in MMBN tradition, he'll grow himself a huge body. He's gonna destroy you himself. Lock and load, pal. You've got a planet to save. Let's go. Normal: [Final Battle: Duo] HP: 2000 Attacks: A pink mine will come out, waving over two rows. A missile will shoot at you. He'll punch his fist, which will hit a 2-by-2 area. He'll swipe at the back two rows, then the front two. A laser will come out of his chest, hitting the center row, then rings will hit the rightmost row, then the second-leftmost, then the second-rightmost, then the leftmost, then the rightmost again. He'll punch the ground numerous times, cracking random panels. He'll fire an image of a face, cracking the first two rows. Strategy: This is gonna hurt. And now you know why you modified your folder. You've got to hit the thing in the center of the body, and only when it's red. Attacks are easy enough to dodge at the beginning (go to the front, then the back, for the swipes), but it gets to be a bit much later. To avoid the multi-punch, stay where you are until your square flashes yellow, then move away, then back. Thankfully, he can be stunned by electric attacks. As his HP gets lower, he'll start punching twice in a row, and sending more projectiles at a time. You'll have to start dodging mines the hard way. Also, try to stay in front of Duo until he's fired three projectiles, then you may have room to move around in. My ultimate advice: save the huge attacks for last, when you seriously want to get the job done quickly. Also, if you have UnderSht, do not use ANY recovery chips unless your health is at 1. If you want, go get an AirShoes NC part from the BugFrag trader in Undernet 4 for 22 BugFrags. Lastly: no DarkChips allowed. Hard: [Final Battle: Duo Alpha] HP: 2500 Attacks: A pink mine will come out, waving over two rows. A missile will shoot at you. He'll punch his fist, which will hit a 2-by-2 area. He'll punch the ground numerous times, cracking random panels. He'll fire an image of a face, cracking the first two rows. Strategy: Not too much different the second time around, just takes a little bit longer. Attacks are easy enough to dodge at the beginning (go to the front, then the back, for the swipes), but it gets to be a bit much later. Duo's battle body will explode. He'll taunt you, saying you can't stop the missile, then his head will explode and a bridge will appear. Megaman will go up and try to turn the steering wheel. Back in Elec Town, everyone's whining about the asteroid, but then Mr. Match/Sal comes up and convinces everyone to cheer for Megaman; maybe they can help. Following suit, the entire world begins cheering for Megaman. Back at NAXA, there's a broken wire in the laser grid, and Lan can't get to Megaman. Regal will patch it up with himself. In the asteroid, Megaman will finally hear the voices of the people, and with one last Full Synchro, will turn the wheel and save the Earth. Duo will let him live for now. Back at NAXA, a helicopter will come down and Lan will go to the upper platform, where Regal is. He'll denounce the good deeds of Lan, Chaud and Dr. Hikari as evil, mentioning his father, Dr. Wily. He'll then jump off of the building. Roll credits. Three days later, Regal's still nowhere to be found (the wimps at CoA wouldn't let him die like in the Japanese version). You'll finally get your trophy for being world champion, and be named World NetBattle Goodwill Ambassador. You'll muse over Regal's last words, then you'll be asked to demonstrate your technique. You'll jack in, and the game will end. Congratulations! When the game restarts, there'll be a Red Sun/Blue Moon in the corner. Select Continue, then you can either continue your old game or start another one. If you get the opportunity to start Game 2 or 3, you should take it. Don't start Game 4. There's other stuff you can do instead. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.8 - Darkness -- What Happened To A Stake Through The Heart? -- An alert reader informed me that you can do this on any difficulty. Head to Undernet 4 and go around this blasted maze until you come across Django and Otenko (they're on the lower level). He'll be wanting an S.Sensor to help destroy Shademan in the coffin next to him. He's lost it around the entrance to Undernet 2. Go there and talk to the Navi to find that it's in Undernet 6. Go there and find the black Navi to buy it for 10000z. Jack out and plug in from some outside place, like Jomon's PC, then return to Django to see a scene. He'll destroy Shademan, with your help, and you'll get GunSol3, which completes the P.Driver P.A. Inspect Shademan's coffin to get the NebulaCd, which opens those skull doors. -- He's Back -- For this, you'll need six souls and all 150 Standard chips. Go to chip traders and such (the ElecTown one is good), and try to get the Collect NC part from the salesman in Park Area 2 (take the C-Slider rail to find him) to get more chips. Once you've got them all, go to the upper level of Undernet 4 and open the skull door. Follow this maze to find a door that requires the S-ID. Open it, and inspect Bass; he'll awaken from his stone tomb. Prepare to be squashed. [Navi Battle: Bass] HP: 2000 Attacks: Shoots all over your panels, mainly at you. Slashes in front of you, then behind, then in front again. Creates two wheels that spin at you. Creates a huge ball to destroy your back two rows. The ONLY thing to stop getting hurt is AntiDmg. Strategy: The ONLY good news is that he has no aura this time. Still, this will hurt like mad. Bass is the rootinest-tootinest Navi in the Undernet, and he's ready to obliterate you anytime. All his attacks are available at the beginning, and he likes to do them really fast and all the time. Bring any chips that will make this battle a quick one. Time- stoppers are nice, too. Remember that while he's moving from square to square, he's invincible. Probably the best advice is to make sure you can stun Bass while he's using his buster attack. The last two attacks listed are preceded by the same shot of Bass holding purple orbs in his hands, and he'll use them alternately whenever the shot occurs, usually. To avoid the supreme destruction attack, head to the front of the top or bottom rows. When you're done, you'll get Bass X/BassAnly X (RS/BM), another of the five GigaChips. Bass is heading off to darker places to grow more powerful. -- EvilChips -- Once you've defeated Bass, pat yourself on the back. But there's still more work to be done; we need a total of seven symbols on your title screen. To enter the Black Earth, you'll need the five EvilChips. One is BugCharg/BugCurse (RS/BM), yet another GigaChip, which can be obtained from defeating Laserman Omega or Shademan Omega without destroying the GMD, which is close to impossible. Some advice for Shademan: you can deal damage to him after he splits into bats; find the one that's him and fire away. And only make him disperse when he's on bottom so he won't destroy the GMD. Another is ElemDark, which can be obtained from S-Ranking ElmperoEX in Undernet 6. -- More EvilChips -- Jack out, then jack back in and head back to the main section of Undernet 5. The black Navis you may have heard of previously are now free, and they're holding the last three EvilChips. It's going to take some work, as they've got hoards of viruses at their disposal. The main problem with all of these battles is that the panels are preset in their favor, so try to preset a PnlRetrn. Go to a corner toward where Bass was, but past it, to find the first one. When given the choice of the wide slope or the skinny slope, take the skinny one. Find the warp point and go in, then go up to the big black hole. Enter it to go to Black Earth. You'll like the in-battle GMDs here, not to mention the regular ones, you can get Navi chips from them. Good thing, too, because to get to Black Earth 2, where actual stuff happens, you'll need all of the Navi MegaChips, normal and SP versions. Remember that Navi shadows appear here, so you'll need sword chips to take them out. Once you have all of the Navi MegaChips (two versions for each Navi), head through the blue gate (hard to find) and enter Black Earth 2. -- Dark Souls -- Here's where stuff will actually happen. In-battle GMDs contain such chips as BugChain *. If you take the right path, you'll take a long road to a BugFrag trader and a BMD with 5 BugFrags. We want the left road. You'll run into six mirrors on your way to the center, and each time you inspect one, you'll have to fight a dark souled Navi. Let's go down the line. [Blue Moon] [Navi Battle: NumMDS] HP: 1000 Attacks: Creates three number balls and sends them your way. Creates a triangular angle thing that flys into your area. Throws a die bomb into your area. Whatever you've got in your pack. Strategy: The ball attack isn't too hard to avoid; shoot the one with the smallest number on it. The triangle thing will either fly straight or circle around your area, so stay clear. Shoot at the dice like mad. This guy, like all the others, will have EVERY CHIP YOU'VE GOT at his disposal, so just make a killer folder, it won't make a difference. [Navi Battle: AquMDS] HP: 1000 Attacks: Shoots a Bubbler at you. Creates two pipes that shoot water. Hurls a water minibomb at you. Creates a single waterpipe. Whatever you've got in your pack. [Navi Battle: WodMDS] HP: 1300 Attacks: Shoots out seeds. Jumps and hits the ground, causing wood towers to pop up in your area, up to three times consecutively. Whatever you've got in your pack. [Navi Battle: MtlMDS] HP: 1000 Attacks: Throws a metal blade around the stage like a boomerang. Throws a metal blade straight at you. GearChng. The gears appear on your panels, or return to one each. Fires missiles at your panels. Appears in front of you and punches your panel, breaking it. Whatever you've got in your pack. Strategy: The gears are the worst things ever. They're always getting in the way, and the attacks, consequently, are difficult to avoid. Metalman's not too easy to hit, either. Try to use large chips that do lots of damage. In this battle, interestingly, he's really slow. [Navi Battle: JnkMDS] HP: 1100 Attacks: Fires screws at you. Shoots his arm at you. Whatever you've got in your pack. Strategy: There's always trash flying at you, and it's way annoying. If you shoot it, it will slow down. The combined attacks are extremely difficult to avoid. You're not going to like this one. [Navi Battle: PrtMDS] HP: 1000 Attacks: Moves in front of you and uses WideSwrd. Moves behind you and uses WideSwrd. Moves to the front row and uses HeroSwrd. Uses the Delta Ray Edge. Whatever you've got in your pack. Once you're done with all of that, go into the warp point, then get the BMD with 3000 Zennys. Go up to the big mirror to have one last Dark Soul battle. [Navi Battle: MgaMDS] HP: Yours. Attacks: Yours. Strategy: Wow, this guy is crazy fast. This battle should also go fairly quickly, though. A few well-placed attacks and he's history. Upon victory, the mirror will give you SoulClen, which lets you become light more quickly if you decided to go DS. Talk to the light Megaman next to the mirror and you'll get HubBatc, which basically gives you tons of NC programs at once (but cuts your HP in half. Throw in some HP+100's to balance it out, says omnislash28027@yahoo.com). -- The Final Forte -- Once you're done with all this, you'll have random encounters with the king of pain, BassSP. You've got to fight him to truly beat the game, so here we go. [Navi Battle: BassSP] HP: 3000 Attacks: Shoots all over your panels, mainly at you. Slashes in front of you, then behind, then in front again. Creates two wheels that spin at you. Creates a huge ball to destroy your back two rows. The ONLY thing to stop getting hurt is AntiDmg. Strategy: Good God, this guy is infinitely faster than before, as are his attacks. All his attacks are available at the beginning, and he likes to do them really fast and all the time. Bring any chips that will make this battle a quick one. Time-stoppers are nice, too. You'll need a good deal of skill/practice/luck to win this one. When/if you defeat him, you'll get another symbol on your title screen. If you manage to S-Rank him, you'll get DeltaRay Z/BlakBarr A (BM/RS), the fourth of the five GigaChips, but putting Collect in your NC accomplishes the same goal. -- Almost Done... -- You should have four symbols there right now: one for beating Duo, one for six souls, one for 150 Standard chips, and one for beating BassSP. You need three more: one for all the Mega Chips, one for all the GigaChips, and one for all the Program Advances. The final GigaChip is being sold by a BugFrag merchant in Undernet 4 for 100 BugFrags; it should be SignlRed/HolyDrem. You can get the rest of the DS Navi chips from GMDs in Black Earth. Good luck with the other MegaChips and Program Advances. -- One Final Task -- Once you've got seven symbols on that title screen, you've got one last thing to do. Head yourself to the asteroid once again and take on Duo for a surprise. [Final Battle: Duo Omega] HP: 3500 Attacks: A pink mine will come out, waving over two rows. A missile will shoot at you. He'll punch his fist, which will hit a 2-by-2 area. He'll swipe at the back two rows, then the front two. A laser will come out of his chest, hitting the center row, then rings will hit the rightmost row, then the second-leftmost, then the second-rightmost, then the leftmost, then it will repeat. He'll punch the ground numerous times, cracking random panels. He'll fire an image of a face, cracking the first two rows. Strategy: Someone's looking different. Mines and missiles are moving faster now, as is the ring attack, so it's pretty difficult. When he punches (any kind), the fist will block attacks. Sometimes attacks will be blocked for no reason anyway, so it would be wise to double-check with the buster. Once you win, you can watch the ending, then see an extra picture once you're done. Congratulations, you're done! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 4 - Chips I have elected to use the following format for describing chips: ###. All of the panels on the horizontal row Megaman is on turn into Holes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.3 - Navi Chips Remaining numbered. You can only use DS chips when dark, and you can't use them when you're light. The SP chip damage calculation is weird. Here's a formula: FD: Final Damage SD: Starter Damage SM: 100 (single hit) or 50 (multiple hits) T: Busting Time FD = SD + SM[(30 - T)/30] Each SP NaviChip has a starter damage amount that is varied on. Let's take ProtMnSP, which has an SD of 140. He hits multiple times, so SM is 50. We'll also say we deleted him in 15 seconds, so T becomes 15. Now we deduce: FD = 140 + 50[(30-15)/30] FD = 140 + 50(15/30) FD = 140 + 50(1/2) FD = 140 + 25 FD = 165 With multi-hit Navis, damage is rounded to the nearest 5, and to the nearest 10 for single-hit Navis. Also, if you delete in under 10 seconds, T remains 10, maximizing the damage (ProtoMnSP's max is 175). Figuring out DS damage is easier. Take the starter damage and add 5 (multi-hit) or 10 (single hit) for each hole on the field when you delete the Navi (ProtMnDS's max is 230). I got all of the above information from DarthMarth's SP Navi S-Ranking FAQ at GameFAQs, which I must say is a fine piece of work. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 4.31 - Red Sun 19. The ones with names and a bunch of numbers and letters? A: Those can be used in the game Megaman Battle Chip Challenge. Q: How do I get all of the banners? A: You'll get the Jomon and Hotel banners automatically during the game. For the others, talk to the Mr. Progs in the Castillo PC and Mayl, Dex and Yai's PCs. Q: How do I open those Purple Mystery Data? A: Go buy an Unlocker subchip from someone (like the guy in Castillo), then go stand next to the PMD and use the Unlocker. Q: Where are the expansions for the NaviCust map? A: One can be found in a BMD when you jack into the chariot statue outside of the Colosseum. The other is on one of the larger square areas in Undernet 2. Q: I didn't play through all the scenarios in your walkthrough! What did I do wrong? A: You didn't do anything wrong. You'll only play through three scenarios in every tournament. When you play Game 2 or 3, you'll encounter different ones, most likely. Q: I'm playing through the Coldman scenario, and I can't find Lava Stage K! A: It doesn't exist. You want HeatBrth K. Go to the Netopia Area merchant and buy one. Q: I can't find BlkBomb Z. A: Go to Sharo Area and find the pathway on the lower-left edge. It leads to a door that costs 500z to open; behind it is the BlkBomb Z in a PMD. You'll need an Unlocker subchip to get it. Q: How do I get across those tiny paths? Will I need the Press program again? A: Luckily, you will not. There's a handy thing called a C-Slider that you can get that will let you cross them. Q: I'm done with the game! How come I only got three souls? A: On your first playthrough, you'll only get three souls. When you play through on Hard mode, you'll get two more, and on Super Hard mode, you'll get the last one. Q: What are the odds of getting a specific soul? A: Game 1 - 100% chance of Gutsman/Aquaman 50% chance of other souls Game 2 - Den/City Battle - 66% chance of the other soul Eagle/Hawk - 50% if Den/City Battle soul obtained, 100% if not RS/BM - 0% if two souls obtained, 100% if not Game 3 - 100% chance of last soul I know that technically there's no odds, but we can't all read the game's data. Q: What's the difference between Game 1, Game 2 and Game 3? A: On Game 2, you'll start with your stats the same as they were, with the NC, money, BugFrags, all intact. Also, all the viruses will be replaced with their level 2 versions (Mettaur --> Mettaur2), and Navis will be more powerful. Game 3 will be the same, with level 3 viruses and even more powerful Navis. Q: I just beat the game on Super Hard mode (Game 3), and I get an option for Game 4. Should I play through a fourth time? A: No. Instead, you should continue with Game 3, defeating Bass and entering Black Earth and all that. Q: [insert story event] isn't happening! What do I do? By the way, I'm using a cheat device. A: Cheat devices have been known to wreak havoc on game data. Your best bet is to try again without the device and hope it works. If it doesn't, I'd hate to be you, because you'll probably have to start over. Q: How do I get the Z Saver? A: You need to link your game with Megaman Zero 3. Q: When are you going to finish the FAQ? A: I don't know. Please don't ask. Q: Can I host your walkthrough on my website? A: E-mail me that question and I'll give you my answer. Q: You forgot to mention this./I have a tip for doing this./How do I do this, because it's not in your FAQ, but should be? A: E-mail me concerning any of the above situations. Remember to put 'MMBN4' somewhere in the subject line so I know what you're talking about. Always double-check to make sure my FAQ doesn't answer your question, because 90% of the time, based on what I've seen, it does. If you e-mail me asking a question that's not in my FAQ because that particular section is incomplete...just don't, because the odds are my answer is 'I don't know.' Soon I will know all, and you can e-mail me then. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 6 - Thanks To...
