I would also prefer if you did NOT e-mail me asking when I'll update this FAQ, giving me advice about the game, asking me personal information, or anything like that - unless you really feel it's necessary. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ ****************** Updates (MM/DD/YY) ****************** 12/09/01 - A really minor update. Through the kindness of my heart, I allow- ed this FAQ to be posted on another site... even though it is thoroughly incomplete. I also probably won't be updating for a while yet. Why? Because I don't feel like it! I'm in grade 9 at the moment, and the work is beginning to pile up... 12/05/01 - Finished the first version of this FAQ. Only did the walkthrough for the first level. It takes quite a while to do the walkthrough for even one level, so I probably won't update for a few days at least. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ ***************** Table of Contents ***************** Part I - Controls - Pickups - Tips Part II - Walkthrough* - Passwords* *incomplete ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ PART I ******** Controls ******** Control pad - moves your character, changes menu selection A button - fires selected weapon, confirms menu selection B button - lets you throw a grenade (hold down for the crosshair to move), cancels menu selection L button - sidestep left R button - sidestep right Start - pauses game, confirms menu selection Select - get into vehicle, get out of vehicle, cycles through available weapons ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ ******* Pickups ******* Most of the time, you have to blast apart a crate with your gun before you'll find any pickups. Some crates parachute down to the ground, while others are already on the ground. They camouflage pretty well with the scenery, so keep your eyes peeled. First-Aid Kit: This restores roughly ¼ of your health. Minesweeper: You find this in the first level. It lets you detect mines, but it has a limited power level, indicated by the number below the mine icon when it's equipped. Minesweeper Recharge: This looks a bit like a green car battery. It recharges the minesweeper. The maximum charge level is 15. Fuel Refill: This looks like an old-fashioned petrol can (but in green). It refuels your vehicle if the fuel runs out. Grenade(s): Pretty self-explanitory. They can be found in groups of 1 or 3, and you can only carry 15 at a time. Machine Gun Ammo: This is ammo for your machine gun (you actually have the machine gun from the start, but without any ammo). This gives you 25 pieces of ammo, and you can carry up to 99 pieces. Rocket Launcher Ammo: This is ammo for your rocket launcher (again, you start off with the rocket launcher, but you can only select it once you find some ammo). This gives you 5 pieces of ammo, and you can only carry up to 15 pieces. Use sparingly! ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ **** Tips **** Always shoot at the red barrels from a distance. If you're too close to them when they explode, you can take a fair bit of damage! It's also a good idea to avoid the rubble left behind, until it disappears. When shooting at the guard towers, always aim for the hut at the top; never aim for the base! Sometimes, you can take out an enemy from a distance without them even notic- ing. This almost always holds true for guard towers. Some enemies will act- ually notice you from a distance, but usually only once you start shooting at them. Put this tip to good use! When you use the minesweeper, it loses its charge rather quickly. Try to hurry whenever using it, and be sure to unequip it when you're done! Check the mission map frequently. Enemies won't attack you from within minefields. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ PART II *********** Walkthrough *********** LEVEL 1 OPERATION SANDCASTLE "A Day at the Beach" It was a trap! The Tan army was well prepared for us. The Green army is in retreat. Your only hope is to get to the portal. The beach has been mined - so we're dropping in a minesweeper for you. MISSION OBJECTIVES 1. Find the minesweeper. 2. Locate the Blue Spy. 3. Escape through the portal. ----- You start this level on the beach, with bombs dropping all around you, and a Tan truck heading your way! Take out the Tan soldier that emerges from the truck, then take out the truck itself and collect the grenade. Head southeast and blast open the three crates to reveal two more grenades and some health. Collect the grenades (but you'll probably want to leave the health) and move southwest. You'll come across a large stationary gun. Lob a grenade at it, and finish it off with regular shots (avoiding as much damage as possible). Blast open the crate that parachutes down to the right, and collect the health if you need it. Head south and take out the two Tan soldiers (it might be a good idea to strafe using the L and R buttons). Blast open the crate, but don't collect the health yet. Move south a little, and take out the grenadier. Quickly take out the two guard towers and the other grenadier. Then take out the bunker just to your west (you can use a grenade if you like, but try to save them for later), and the tan soldier who attacks from the south. By this time, you'll definitely be needing the health. Go back and collect it. Then head into the enclosure between the two guard towers and collect the all- important minesweeper. Blast open the crate and collect the recharge. Go around the enclosure, heading south, and take out the guard towers to the southeast and southwest. Head south until you come across the "!" sign (which indicates a minefield). Shoot the crate when it hits the ground, then equip the minesweeper and collect the recharge that was in the crate. Carefully make your way southwest and take out the bunker and Tan soldier (you should be able to destroy the bunker without them noticing you). Head further southwest and equip the minesweeper when you see the sign. Blast open the crate and collect the machine gun ammo once you make your way around the mines. Go east until you come across another sign. Ignore it, head southeast and take out the Tan soldiers. Ignore the next sign, too, and take out the two Tans. Go a little further southwest and take out the next two Tans (they're grenadiers, so be careful). Blast open the next two crates, but take care of the mounted gun before you grab the health and minesweeper recharge. Continue southwest and take out the next mounted gun, as well. Blast open the falling crates to collect 50 pieces of machine gun ammo. Bombs will start falling at this point, so watch out. Head northwest and take out the two Tans, the next mounted gun, and the stationary vehicle (you may want to use a grenade or two). Continue northwest and take out the guard tower. Go ahead a little bit and take out the next two Tans. About this time, a Tan helicopter will come in behind you and drop off 3 or 4 Tan soldiers. You can stay and fight, or run away (frankly, I don't see any reason why you should fight them). Take out the Tan just north, but ignore the vehicle. Head east a little ways and look for a parchuting crate. Blast away the red barrels in your path, and blast open the crate to get a grenade. Head along the path northwest-wards, and take out the next four Tans. Take out the bunker and the Tan just to your right. Head east and take out the next Tan. Head toward the falling crate and take out another Tan att- acking from the northeast. Go east-north-east to find the Blue Spy. When you talk to him, you'll get an extra life. Head northwest and ignore the first guard tower - it's dead already. Take out the Tan and the next guard tower, then go into the enclosure with the four crates and blast away at the two guard towers on the other side before opening the crates. You'll get a minesweeper recharge, a grenade, some machine gun ammo, and some much-needed health. Keep going northwest, taking out the guard towers as you go along. There is also another enclosure with the same four items as before, if you need them (there should only be about 4 mines in the area). Take out the guard tower and con- tinue north, avoiding the bombs. When you get to the transporter, take out the two guard towers on its south-western side. Blast open the crate and collect the grenades. When you go around the corner, you'll notice 4 Tan soldiers, two of which are Generals, which means they're harder to kill. Select your machine gun and plough through them. Be careful of a suicide bomber who approaches from the east, and take him out before he reaches you. Blast open the two crates behind you, and collect the health and machine gun ammo. Head through the transporter to the south to complete the mission. ** MORE COMING SOON ** ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ ********* Passwords ********* The passwords in this game vary depending on what your stats were when you completed the level.
