Walkthrough ****************************************** ---Note--- Depending on which game you play first Oracle of Ages or Oracle of Seasons, parts of the game will change. By how much and to what extent I am unsure of, for now. For now this walkthrough will explain the game as if you started it first. ---End Note--- +-----------+ Prologue +-----------+ A NEW CHAPTER One day in Hyrule, a strange force drew Link deep within Hyrule castle, where he found the Triforce resting, glittering brilliantly as it awaited him. "Link... Link... Accept the quest of the Triforce!" Suddenly, Link was enveloped in a shaft of light, and the next moment, he vanished, When Link awoke, he found himself in a forest he had never seen. Confused, he looked around blankly at the unfamiliar surroundings. He heard pleasant music and laughing voices echoing from deep within the woods. Link followed the inviting voices until he came upon a traveling troupe of actors. He was immediately struck by the beauty of a young woman who was dancing about in circles. When the girl noticed Link, she smiled brightly and called to him. "Welcome to Holodrum. I am Din, the dancer," she said with a glee. "Would you like to dance with me? It will be more fun if we dance together." She took him by the hand, and he reluctantly began to dance. Unfortunately, this blissful moment did not last long. The sky suddenly went dark, and there was a loud crash of thunder, followed by a resounding, thunderous voice. "I've found you, Din! You can't deceive me by disguising yourself as a dancer. I am Onox, General of Darkness! Now reveal yourself, Oracle of Seasons!" Then a great tornado dropped from the sky and drew near Din, as if to engulf her. "Help me, Link!" she cried. Link was blown back by the tornado as he struggled against its awesome force, and Din was swept away in the wind... And then strange things began to happen throughout the land. When Onox carried off the Oracle of Seasons from the land of Holodrum, the seasons fell into chaos and the land was deprived of the bountiful gifts of nature. Life was slowly being drained from the land, and all living things began to wither. And so Onox set in motion his plan to gather the power from the withering land and create a world of total darkness. Will Link be able to rescue Din from the hand of evil, the General of Darkness. Such is the quest Link must undertake. +-------------+ Beginnings +-------------+ As you watch the game's intro, it will show Link being transported to the land of Holodrum. Once there you will be found by the dancer Din. After you awake head to the right to find a traveling group. Speak to everyone then speak to Din. Din will ask you to dance, so do so. After the little dance a sequence will follow, introducing the villain and his plot. After the sequence is over you will find yourself next to Impa. She instructs you to head to Horon Village and talk to the Maku Tree to find out what to do. Once Impa is done talking head down and into the village. Once there head all the way to the right until you find the Mayor's House. Talk to him to receive a Gasha Seed. If you exit the house you will find a spot to plant the seed, do so. Be sure to explore the town, if you visit Vasu the ring smith he will give you a Ring Box as well as your first ring. Also visit Bippin and Blossom's house near the lower-left corner of Horon. You will have a chance to name their child. Now you will need to have a meeting with the Maku Tree. However to do that you will first need a Sword. From the village entrance head all the way to the left, then head down towards the beach. Here you will find the Hero's Cave. The Hero's Cave is not very difficult, so just navigate your way through the cave until you find a Sword. With the Sword in hand you will now be able to visit the Maku Tree. Before doing that, be sure to cut the bush near the Hero's Cave entrance and jump down the well, you will find 30 rupees. Now head to the Maku Tree, there he will tell you to gather the 8 Essences of Nature and give you the Gnarled Key for the first dungeon. The first dungeon is located right above Horon Village. Before going you may want to consider buying a Shield. Its not essential, but it comes in handy every now and then. +----------------------+ Level 1 Gnarled Root +----------------------+ As you enter the dungeon head up one room. Push the block in the upper-right corner to open the doors and head up once again. Talk to the old man to gain some clues on how to complete the dungeon, although its pretty useless, so you may want to skip seeing him entirely and just head to the right. Defeat the skeletons in this room to earn yourself a key, now head back to the left and use the Key to unlock the door. Defeat the skeletons in this room to earn yourself a map, now head up. Board the mine cart then head up the stairs to flip the tracks and grab the Compass. Head back down the stairs and push the middle block to unlock the door and head to the left. You will have to push some blocks in this room, but your reward will be a Gasha Seed. Now head back to the mine cart and board it, hopefully you hit the switch so that the cart will take you to the next room. If not hit the switch then board the cart. Once you get off the cart head left one screen to grab some Bombs. Now head up the stairs and then to the right to grab a key. Head back up the stairs, and then to the left and you will see a crack in the wall. Place a bomb there and head up. If you have bought a Shield use it to avoid taking damage from the spikes. Head up to face your first mini-boss. The mini-boss is amazingly easy; just get close to one of the bull looking enemy and rapid hit whatever button you have assigned to the Sword. After a couple of swipes the boss will be defeated. Once defeated head left. Push the block out of the way and then head down the stairs. Grab the Seed Satchel and take the warp, the warp will lead you to one of the rooms you need to be in. Use the Ember seeds to light the torches and grab the Boss Key in the next room. From there head down one screen and then to the right for two screens. Light the torch and head up. Grab the ring in the treasure box, and then head to the right. You will find the boss here. ----------Dragon----------- The Dragon is pretty easy to defeat. The only problem is, is that its weakness is its horn. It may be a bit difficult to hit but not too difficult. You will also have to be on the lookout for its fire breath attack and its charging attack. The Dragon's horn flashes before it will attack, giving you ample time to dodge his attacks. -------------------------- +----------------------+ The Rod of Seasons +----------------------+ With the Fertile Soil in hand the Maku Tree will contact you once more and tell you of the Temple of Seasons. He says that the Temple is underground, but you do not have a way down there yet. For now just head back to Horon Village. This may also be the first time that you run into Maple the Witch, if not you'll run into her eventually. If you bump into her she will drop some of her items and you will drop some of yours. Its best to try to bump into her, for she at times drop some valuable items. Also, as you exit the dungeon try burning the tree near the entrance to the dungeon. You will find an old man who will give you some Rupees to keep his place a secret. When you reach Horon Village explore the village once more. If you planted the Gasha Seed near the Mayor's house you should now see a Tree in its place. If not come back a little later and check it out. Also, now that you have some bombs, bomb the wall at his house to find another Seed. Also, be sure to grab the Heart Piece surrounded by the tree sapling. If you haven't done so already visit Vasu and have the ring you found in the dungeon appraised. Now head to the lower-right corner of Horon Village to find the biologist. Light the torch and he will give you the Cuccodex. You can also bomb the wall near his house, but you won't be able to get the treasure just yet. Also, if you burn the sapling near the biologist's house you will find another man who will give you some rupees. Now head one screen below the entrance of the Maku Tree and use your Ember Seeds to burn the saplings and continue on. As you make your way through you will eventually run into a cloaked figure. Follow her, but do not let her see you. When you follow her she will reveal a portal leading to Subrosia. When you first enter Subrosia head down and then to the left. Play the dance game there to receive a boomerang. Once you've won that head to the right side to find the Temple of Seasons. Now head straight up and onto the pedestal to receive the Rod of Seasons. Once you've gotten the rod exit that room, and then head to the lower-right corner of the temple. Head inside, and then use your Boomerang to hit the switch to create a bridge for you to cross the lava. Head up the stairs and you will receive the power of Winter. Once you've gotten this exit the Temple and the Maku Tree will point you in the direction of the next Essence. +-------------------------+ Level 2 Snake's Remains +-------------------------+ Now exit Subrosia and you will be greeted by the same man who was sleeping in Horon Village. He will tell you to use the Rod of Seasons on the stump he was just sitting on. If you do so the lake will freeze allowing you to cross onto the other side and continue exploring. From here head towards the bottom path and then go right. Now head up across the frozen lake, until you reach the house with the sign that reads "Santa Welcome". Head to the left and search the caves if you wish, but they do not hold much of interest, with the exception of 30 rupees. Now step onto the stump and use the Rod to change the season into Winter. Head up the stairs and use the snow to jump down the chimney. The lady there will give you a Shovel and tell you to shovel the snow out of her entrance. With the Shovel in hand head back to the big lake. Use the Rod to change the seasons back to winter and then head to the left one screen and then up. Use your Shovel to move the snow out of the way and then head right. Get the Mystery Seeds from the tree and then head up, and then to the left to find the 2nd dungeon. ----Dungeon Strategy---- From the entrance head to the right and then head up, defeat the snakes to receive a key. Now head back to the entrance and light the torches and head up. Head to the right and defeat the snakes there, then push the block in the middle-right to reveal the compass. From here head left and then up. Defeat the enemies here and bomb the wall where the blocks are pointing. Grab the rupees in this room and then head back, now use the key to open the door and head up. You will now have to knock the squids into the pit. Once you've done that the door on the left will open, head through there. You should now see some Moblins across of a pit. Wait for them to get close to the edge of the pit and stay near the opposite edge and strike them with your sword. When you have defeated them you will receive the Power Bracelet. With the Bracelet in hand head back and move the pots to grab the map. Now head back down and then to the right. Head right one more screen and grab the key in the chest. Now head down and use your Bracelet to push the steel cylinders out of the way. Head up the stairs and you will find yourself outside of the dungeon. Grab the Seed in the chest and then head to the left to find another set of stairs. Head down and you will find a Deku Scrub selling some bombs. If you are short on bombs I suggest buying some from him. Now head up, and bomb the cracked blocks, but be sure to do it quickly. If you don't the chest will disappear. Once you've gotten the key in the chest head back to the room with the steel cylinders. From there head up and then to the right. Bomb the cracked blocks and head down the stairs. Follow the little side view to the end and once again push the steel cylinders out of the way. As you head down you will run into the mini-boss. This mini-boss attacks you by opening a hole in the floor and trying to suck you in. To damage it, wait till its face appears and throw a bomb anywhere near it. After its taken a hit it will summon some bugs, but they are easily taken care of. Its second attack consists of it shooting fireballs from its mouth and having them rain down on you. This is the best time to launch bombs at him, because this is when he appears the longest. Head to the right and use your key to unlock the key block. Continue heading right then head down. Get onto the moving platforms until you can reach the other side safely. Once you've gotten to the other side head up and grab the Boss Key. With the Boss Key in hand, drop down from where the key was and head left two screens. Bomb the wall with the three vases surrounding it and head down. Now kill the bunny heads by throwing a bomb into their little confined area. Once defeated head right and enter the wheel. It should take you down. Cross the platforms and head into the boss room. ----------Dodongo---------- Ah, a blast from the past. If you've played previous Zelda games this enemy will look very familiar to you. It is also beaten in practically the same way too, with one minor step thrown in. When Dodongo opens its mouth to attack throw a bomb into its mouth, while its digesting the bomb, use your Bracelet to pick him up and throw him into the spikes. As for its attacks, it only has two, and both are very slow and very easy to see coming. The first is its fire breath attack. It will open its mouth for a few seconds and if you haven't thrown a bomb into its mouth yet will unleash a fireball attack. The second of its attack is that it will begin charging at you, although very slowly and in a straight line. -------------------------- +-------------------------+ Level 3 +-------------------------+ With the second essence in hand the Maku Tree now tells you of another Essence that it saw in Spool Swamp. It is here that you will also run into your animal helper and what you decide to do here will determine who will be the helper you can call upon. If you want Moosh the Bear to become your partner buy the flute in Horon Village. If you want Dimitri the Dodongo to be your partner head back to Subrosia and play the Dancing game until you get a flute. If you want Ricky the Kangaroo just don't get any of the flutes and you will end up with him. Now, head back to Horon Village. Head up from the village and move the rocks that once blocked your path and continue heading up, until you hit a tree with some seeds on it. Grab the Scent Seeds and then head back down and then to the left. Depending on which animal helper you want you will run into one of them around here. If you help them and have their flute, or they'll give you their flute, you will have them as your partner. The process to obtain them isn't too hard and the path that each must take is not too much different from each other. The only difference is that each path makes use of each animal helper's abilities, and in the end you will end up in the same place anyways. As you make your way through the swamp with your helper you will first find some Pegasus Seeds and will eventually run into an old man that says he lost a key. If you hit the switch to drain the pool you will find the key underneath the water. Grab the key and exit the house. Head down the stairs, which revealed itself when you drained the water, and make your way through the cave and to the keyhole where you can drain the water of the floodgate. Now head back to the house where you got the key and head left and down to where the water just was. Head down and depending on which animal helper you have you will have to take a slightly different route. They all lead to the same place, a warp to Subrosia. More to come... ****************************************** IV. Link System ****************************************** The Link system is a clever way of having two games communicate with each other, as well as making us buy two Zelda games. The first thing you will receive to link the two games is when you first complete the game. A password will be given which can be used in the other game. This password tells the other game that you have completed one game, and this game will change a few details accordingly. Note that this password is unique to your game, and will not be the same for everybody, so don't ask for it. ****************************************** V.
